Before i left, the battery life was full and when i came home, my macbook didnt start and the charger light were blinking yellow constantly. I bought it may 2012 so i guess i could send it in for a repair, but i hoped for a another easier and faster solution. Please help anyone?!

I have a late 2011 model Macbook Pro, 10.7.5 OS and I've had no issues whatsoever up until a week ago. The night before if stopped working I did everything as usual, did some HW, emailing then I shut it down. I woke up the next morning and it wouldn't turn on so I figured it was dead, so I got my charger plugged it in and got no light, green or orange. What I got was a faint green blinking on the charger light and my battery level indicator wasn't working. I thought it was my charger but it wasn't because worked fine on my girlfriend's Macbook.
I googled and tried PRAM and SMC to no avail.  I have to disconnect and reconnect the battery connector each time for it work. Other than this issue I have another problems, mac runs very slow  while it's on and I shut it down or restart it for awhile after I reconnected the battery but if I try to turn it back on or restart it hours after I've done that then it won't work .

  • 2012 Macbook Pro wont start or charge

So my macbook pro 13in was around 20% before i went to work then when i came back to it, The Macbook pro would not start and so i pluged it in and the charger light flickerd from green to amber back and forth. I then tried my charger for my older 2009 Macbook White polycarbenite and when i used that ones charger the light just stayed off but i did know that ones charger did work with the Pro. My guess is the logic board is fried some how or the battery has faild but my guess would be that it would still be able to start even with a bad battery. The Mac will not make the start up sound or the led trun on.. on the frount of the computer.
    Thanks for your help

Connect the charger that came with the machine to a good power source with not a lot of other items on the same power line from the circuit breaker.
Connect it to the Mac and perform a SMC Reset here and let it charge up for a few hours or overnight before using it.
    1. SMC reset
    >>Instructions to reset SMC
Disconnect other non-Apple and external hardware except (if applicable) a mouse and keyboard until your finished repairing your machine.
Problems solved: Fans blowing with no activity, machine is not booting, power button pressed and nothing happens, problems with indicators, Magsafe has wrong lights, battery is not charging, monitor and graphics issues etc.  If the battery is not charged (from like letting it sleep too long), let the Mac charge up awhile afterwards.
Will not hurt the machine resetting if it's not broken.
    Other related hardware problems (optional):
Check battery status: Hold option/alt key down while clicking on the battery icon in the menu bar, top right corner.
Magsafe: Use the correct/matching power supply charger with your Mac, not a less powered one from another Mac.

If that doesn't work, please make a appointment with Apple for a repair or evaluation, also if you haven't yet purchased AppleCare you should do so as well as a couple of backup drives.

It's clear that the battery has got enough capacity to work correctly, so something happens with the MagSafe port or its charger. If you have another charger, try it, and if not, take the MacBook and the charger to an Apple Store or reseller. It's better to do this as we don't know if the problem is in the charger or in the MacBook Pro

    Hi everyone

Charger light is green light and everytime i press the power button I hear a clicking sound and my built in cam light is lighting up. I couldnt figure it out what is wrong.. If you guys had any problem like this before or know the problem about it please share it with me.. I will be appreciated.. Thanks

  • Installed new memory and Macbook Pro wont start.

I bought a total of 8GB from PNY for my mid 2009 MacBook Pro (2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).  I installed it and my macbook wont turn on.  When I press the power button it just beeps.  The LCD doesnt turn on.   I reinstalled it a few times to make sure that it is sitting correctly with no luck.  I reinstalled my old memory (2x2gb) and it works fine.
The new memory I bought is PNY  8GB (2x 4GB) Bual Channel DDR3 PC3-10666.  The package says that it is compatiable with 1333MHz and 1066MHz.  This is the listed memory on the PNY website for Mac laptops.
Am I using the worng type of memory?  I'm pretty sure my MacBook Pro can take 8GB...right?
    THANKS!

One beep indicates no RAM installed. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1547.
What happens when you reinstall the old original memory? Does the computer boot then?
You might want to read the information at macsales.com (OWC). Certain models had to be updated to take additional memory.

  • Macbook Pro wont start up (Apple logo and spinning thing all I get)

When I turn on my macbook pro I get the “tone” the Apple logo and the spinning thing but then the spinning thing just freezes up and does nothing for ever. I let it just site like that for 30 minutes then it just goes to black. It is plugged in so power is not an issue.
I tried to boot up in safe mode and again I get the tone the logo then the bar to show the safe mode then the spinning thing then nothing. I did boot it up via firewire target mode and was able to see the hard drive and all my files on my imac so the hard drive works (I think).
I do have the original install disk and am willing to start the computer fresh but have no idea how.
    So any suggestions???
I also tried to turn on and run the repair mode I think that’s where I held down a key the screen went black and some commands ran then I typed somting like flvr - fv
    Thanks Brad

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Macbook pro wont start up and stuck on a restart screen, after mountain lion installtion failure

I tried installing Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro and the installation failed because my "hardrive was damage and could not be repaired" it then told me to restart my computer and try again which i did. However i am unable to even get back to my desktop because the Macbook starts up and i get the grey Apple logo and then this screen appears:
Instructing me to restart my computer, it has been stuck on this cycle for a few days now and i have no idea how to fix it.
Any help would be much appreciated
    StephBeard

    StephBeard,
if you still have your MacBook Pro’s original box, it can be found on one of the stickers on the box. If you don’t still have its box, it can be determined from your MacBook Pro’s serial number. If its serial number has eleven characters, write down the last three characters; if it has twelve characters, write down the last four. If you don’t have its box, please include in your reply those last three or four characters of its serial number.

  • Macbook Pro not starting or Charging

Just received my macbook pro retina with 2.7/16gb/256gb and had an absolute ball using it.
I turned it off now im trying to turn it back on and it wont start up. i plugged the charger in but the charger doesnt light up or anything.

Did you get your machine with 10.8.3 or did you just upgrade to 10.8.3 and this is your first time turning if off or putting it into sleep mode.  Some others in this forum have reported problems with their MBPr following the 10.8.3 update.  Their solution was to take it to the apple store and have the battery unplugged and replugged back in.  This has worked with a few people.
Also, when this happened on my MB, it was a bad power supply.
In either case, I agree with the other post that you should take it to an Apple store since it is a brand new machine.

  • Macbook Pro power issues; Dim charging light, limited power.

So I'm having some serious concerning issues with my 15" MBP while connected to AC power. Recently my AC adapter gave out so I bought a replacement on ebay. While waiting for it to arrive I used a borrowed a 65W charger to charge between uses, which as I understand should not be an issue especially when only charging. At some point the charge light on the 65W began showing only a very dim green. It still worked fine on the Macbook.
Upon receiving my new adapter and plugging it in, I observed the dim light again and decided to try and see what was going on. The system profiler registered a charger present but not charging, but the battery seemed to charge regardless. When using the computer on AC power, battery life would decrease slowly and it would eventually fall into sleep mode when the battery hit zero. Something that seemed to be accelerating from what I imagine to be the battery on its last legs as it had been giving a "Service battery" warning for a few months before this. Eventually the computer began to shut down and attempt to restart immediately on startup with the battery, and operated on AC only, without the battery, as long as I didn't use any applications that demanded high performance from the CPU.
I have tried resetting the PRAM and SMC with no avail.
Well, I just received a new battery in the mail (not that I expect it to fix the main issue), and I'm hesitant to try to charge it.
Basically, what I'm wondering is should I be worried about damaging the new battery with what seems likely to be a damaged charging circuit?
Also, from what I gather, this problem is usually related to the left I/O board where the magsafe and charging circuit is.
Is there any way to determine where the fault is for sure before I go buying replacement parts? My hope right now is that it is in fact the I/O board and not the logic board because of the cost of a new logic board and the fact that I could easily replace the I/O myself.
Any insight at all is greatly appreciated.

Here's a link for troubleshooting the power adaptor:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1713
Also check for any debris in the power port which may be keeping the adaptor from making good contact.
It's always possible the power adaptor from EBay is faulty. You need to try a known good on, like a working one that a friend has or one at the Apple Store.
Is the new battery a genuine Apple battery or a third party battery. Third party batteries can be difficult to get working. I have one from OWC that's like that--it takes its time to begin charging instead of starting to charge in a second or two.
The best way to troubleshoot all this is to try a known good battery and a known good power adaptor. Your new ones are still in unknown condition. If you have a friend with the same Mac who has known good battery and power adaptor, you can try those in your Mac--and yours in the other Mac, and narrow down the possibilities.
If the Mac fails to charge even with a known good battery and power adaptor, there's a good chance that the I/O Board is bad. But I don't know of a definitive test that would tell you for sure.
    Good luck!

  • Macbook pro wont start with 3 beeps

    hi
Few months back I purchased a refurbished macbook pro (late 2012 model) with i7 processor and 8 GB ram. Now after 2 months I experienced problem with mac - it wont start with 3 beeps. I looked at different articles in net and found about no memory bank problem. I opened the back and changed slots and it seemed to fix the issue. However the issue was recurring few times and ram was changed. Again the issue seemed to have resurfaced. I tried with memtest in single user mode and RAM passes the tests.
What else could be the issue around the macbook pro. Do you suggest taking it to local Apple store to get it checked?
    Thanks

Test each module installed alone while switching slots (power down before switching and remove battery.) Do both modules work alone in each slot? If they do, then it would appear the memory is good as are the slots. So, something else is at play and only an Apple Store has the equipment to go further - make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.
