MacBook randomly reboots itself!
Hi,
Can anybody please help?
I have a newish Macbook with bootcamp installed......
Windows is working fine with no random crashes what-so-ever......
However on the OS X side I am having random re-boots.....
I will startup my computer and all will be fine for a few seconds until all stops and the computer restarts.......
This happens randomly at different times, although mostly when the computer has just started up or woken from sleep.
I would just take my Macbook into an Apple shop to ask them to look at it for me, but since I am a trainee teacher I have next to no free time!
Thanks for your help!
Below is a copy of my system log from the last two re-boots (one right after another!)

I'm having this problem with a first generation MacBook. I do not normally notice it because my MacBook is always on and never goes into sleep mode. But if I manually put it to sleep by closing the lid, some time after waking (less than half an hour) it it will spontaneously. Same goes for when I turn off the MacBook and when I turn it on again

My Macbook is rebooting itself all the time randomly! - Help!
My Macbook is randomally rebooting itself (seems like it's juicing memory like it was a hot day). although I have 3 things opened (firefox, word, powerpoint) it seems like it's too much for it.
It's a Macbook 13"- Aluminum from late 2008
Processor 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Software OS X 10.8.4 (12E55)
Any ideas what's causing it and how can I fix things myself if I can???

Luckily 2x4GB 1066Mhz is very cheap, change the modules. Use Crucial (they have a configurator) or OWC.

My iPad mini randomly reboots itself. I have already reset/ recovered in iTunes, any other suggestions?

Nope, never jail broke it. Just randomly started the other day.
Recovery Mode is your last resort per the instructions here. Also, read this.
If still no joy, make an appointment with the resident "Genius" at the closest Apple Store. -
Hello,
My late 2008 MacBook (Alu) randomly reboots. I'm using Maviricks and I get this report after the reboot:

Do you have any idea what might be causing the reboots?
I already tried resetting the NRAM and SMC... Thanks!I'm having this problem with a first generation MacBook. I do not normally notice it because my MacBook is always on and never goes into sleep mode. But if I manually put it to sleep by closing the lid, some time after waking (less than half an hour) it it will spontaneously. Same goes for when I turn off the MacBook and when I turn it on again

Router randomly reboots itself almost every night
I've been with Sky for a few months now and this is becoming an increasing frustrating problem. Everything is fine until, somewhere between, I think 10pm-2am, the internet would slow down and after a 2-3 mins - grind to a halt, the connection drops (smiley face disappears from router) before it re-establishes a connection. This doesn't feel like an interference problem as the connection does not just drop - it gradually slows down before reseting itself. At first I thought this was just a firmware check/update but surely this cannot be happening almost every single night? I've called Sky to run some line checks and everything seems normal. I'm already at the master socket and done the usual checks. Now I'm starting to think that somewhere between my router (SR102) and Sky, there is some sort of scheduled 'link refresh' which makes the connection reset itself almost every single night. Anyone with a similar problem - any advice much appreciated.
Mine is the same but reset randomly (Disconnect and connect) about 20 + time a day. Rang Sky and done all test, I am thinking it was the Sky hub (Router) might have gone faulty but they not offer to replace it and want to do more check.
Mine once on smily face in Amber, it sometimes doesn't turn back to white which mean broadband is not connected at all. It has been 1 week now like this. -
Phone randomly rebooted itself twice?!
I have a Curve 3G 9300 and today it froze and then went into the black reboot screen with the white bar going across showing loading progress. I didnt ask it to do this nor did I press anything as both times it was in its pouch playing music. Can anyone tell me why it has done this please?
Been having the same problem, except mine is like every 5 min, so I called AT&T customer no-service & was told the phone was under warranty, so upon being transferred to the warranty dept. they informed me that even though it was under warranty, they would not replace it until I upgraded the OS to 5.0.What a load of **bleep**! I was going to throw the thing in the trash I( was so frustrated (like I have the time to sit around & wait 2 or 3 hours to fix a problem that they should be doing themselves,) but the wife convinced me to give it a try in my "spare" time, so I did the upgrade this evening & the phone is 10 times slower & reboots about every 5-10 min. still!!!!I will never buy a Blackberry again. They may be alright for some coorporate people, but not the everyday users!

Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

List of issues: random reboots, sound issue, battery reading
Hey all,
I am having the following issues with my Macbook (late 2007, running on Snow Leopard).
1) The battery power indicator isn't giving a correct read. It remains stuck at 95% or 99% most of the time while the led on the battery cord is burning bright green for hours...
When I asked my local reseller if this could be related to my new bought battery, he checked the battery (which is under warranty) and informed that the battery was ok so he feared it would a more expensive issue inside my Macbook.
2)When I turn on my Macbook, the sound isn't working althought the soundbar is more then halfway open. When I increase or decrease the sound with one tap, it suddenly kicks in and works fine untill I turn the device off and o. Then it's the same old story all over again.
3) My Macbook randomly reboots. Without any warning (atleast not visible to me) you suddenly the distinct hardware sound of a reboot, the grey load screen with the Apple logo appears and only a few seconds latter (it's much faster then a normal reboot/restart) I am at the inlog screen and have to log in again.
I am not sure but, it's possible that issue 2 & 3 showed up after I installed Snow Leopard. Don't know if it's relevant or not.
I am praying for this to be a software related issue, but I have a nasty gutt feeling that is going to be a nasty hardware issues
Any thoughts, idea's or wonder solutions?I'll reply using the numbers aswell:
1) But is it also normal for the Macbook to keep saying that the (3months old battery) is at 99% even when it has been fully loaded in advance and has been connected for 12 hours to the powergrid?
2) I'll try to clearify:
You turn on the Macbook, according to the settings the sound is on yet programs like Adium and Mail don't produce sounds when it should be making a sound warning.
When you use the sound keys (either to increase or decrease the sound), the sound kicks in again.
Each time the device is turned back on this issue presents itself.
The device also doesn't seem to save the sound setting on which it is turned off, it simply resets to a setting at about 75 % of the volumebar.
3)I have been thinking that myself and have been expermenting with using the visitors account from time to time. However the reboots have been rare up till know (only 3 , max 4 times as far as I am aware) and only once (last night) when I was actually activly using the device.
This makes it rather annoying to downgrade or to switch main accounts permenantly for diagnostic purposes only. (I am not that familar with mac os to start doing this like downgrades at all to be honest)
Of the reboots I am 99.9% sure that they started after my upgrade to Snow Leopard. -
Hi,
I have an iPad 2 Wifi 16GB model. I have had the iPad 2 since launch date although, this is my secound one. I've had this one for quite some time. Lately it has started to randomly reboot itself no matter what I am doing. At first I thought the cause was a bad app because I had just bought a couple new ones, but the problem persisted after the apps were removed. Today, my iPad 2 turned off, then the Apple Logo was displayed with a loading bar underneath. It keeps turning off and reverting to the Apple Logo and reloading bar however, the bar never fills past 1/10 of itself before it turns off again. I am in the process of restoring it but iTunes insists that I update my iPad 2 before restoring when I already have the current 5.0.1 software installed. My MacBook says it will take 2hrs and my PC says 3hrs. If anyone else has some advice on what steps I could take in resolving this issue, I would be greatly appreciative. If its under warranty, you can request a new iPad. I did. But the problem didn't go away!
After a factory reset and hardware replacement, I believe it's a software issue. Some background service seems to be crashing or triggering a reboot. No specific apps seem to trigger it, although some video apps are more prone to the issue.
Apple Genius have no clue how to resolve it... -
IPad 2 16GB iOS 5.1.1 Randomly reboots???
I just got an ipad 2 16GB, brand new I installed the IOS 5.1.1 right when I opened it up. But ever since I turned it on it is now randomly rebooting itself. For no reason, just crashes and then shows the apple sign? What should I do?
First thing I would try is to do a restart of your own, Hold the home button down and at the same time hold down the power button. Wait for the screen to go black and the Apple logo to appear and in a few minutes it should restart.
If you have already done this I would do a reload of the OS from iTunes.
If that doesn't work I would take it to Apple and have them do a refresh of the OS or replace it if there is a hardware problem.
Good luck. -
Nano keeps rebooting itself while updating
So, whenver the ipod first sets itself up, renames itself, etc., everything seems fine. I then start loading songs onto it and it seems to be going fine, until it randomly reboots itself. And when windows recognizes it again, the corrupt file ballon pops up. itunes now recognizes it as a generic IPOD, not the renamed one from setup. And it says there's anywhere from 200 to 600 mbs used up on the ipod, but there's nothing on the thing. So I restore it... and it goes through the same process all over again. So I uninstall both itunes and the updater, reinstall, restore... do the five rs thing untill the cows come home, same thing every time. Reformat the ipod with the hp utility? Sure, doesn't help. Nothing I've been able to find on this forum or apple's support site is of any help.
I already returned one nano for this same problem. The second one keeps doing the same thing. So you would think its my computer, right? That is, except for the fact that my wife's nano works just fine with no problems whatsoever. What the heck is going on with this thing? Could it be a bad batch of nanos? Should I bring this one back and try a third?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.i had the same problem ... and came across it again.

My ipad2 32G 3G ran into some serious problem.Every three minutes,iPad2 randomly reboots itself.
It has been unable to work properly.
My ipad2 is a gift,my friend bought it from the United States.
I'm in China. What should I do?I don't fully understand what the System Reset does but I've found that it cures many ills. It's easy, quick and harmless:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default. -
Hi, I have an old build as stated above that I sold to my son in law. It has been working fine for about three years except the cheap power supply died about a year ago (it came with the box) so I replaced it with a seasonic. Anyway, it recently has started to randomly reboot itself once or twice a day. It's hard to believe it is the power supply. If it was wouldn't it just turn off and not reboot? I haven't had a chance to actually look at it yet but was wondering if anyone knew what would cause random reboots. It isn't overclocked. Thanks
PSU can also be blamed for random restarts. as the PSU heats up, the efficiency goes down and this my cause your system not to receive enough power, thus shutting down or restarting. i would suggest to test with a different PSU if all the memtests are OK and the system temps are within normal ranges.

Just installed a new intel mac pro - upgraded from my older power mac model - and i notice that it seems to randomly reboot itself. Sometime after a powersave screen shutdown. I am using my old apple display with a converter box. Any ideas welcome. Thanks
Sounds like a hardware issue, possibly an incompatibility with the converter box. You're under warranty -- call AppleCare.
