MacBook recognizing harddrive but not starting up

I've tried using disk utility, tried to boot from disk, but still get same results... It gets to the Apple with the grey pinwheel, but it just keeps on spinning... any suggestions?

yes i have done all of that, the harddrive shows up but stays on the initial loading screen...
I tried the fsck but when i got the the command screen i wasn't able to type anything... i went into the startup disk and selected terminal and tried it there, but nothing happened...
this is the second time in 2 months this has happened, last time the harddrive did not mount though and i had to have it replaced... i'm wondering if i just have a faulty computer... I've had a lot of problems with my firmware, optical drive and harddrive... yet when i call apple they tell me they can't help me... I've had to go through my school's tech building for all my repairs... I've never dropped it, spilled anything on it, or harmed it in any way... yet it always seems to have some problem... any other suggestions???

Hi everybody, my Macbook pro 2009 does not start anymore.
I can hear the startsound, the screan lights, thats it.
I tryd PRRAM Reset, Holding down alt key,
changing RAM, nothing works...any ideas?

Apps icon bouncing on dock, but not starting

I have Macbook Pro (Mid 2010) with 256 GB with Agility 3 SSD. Additional 500 GB HDD in the optical drive bay and running Mountain Lion GM (and final version).
My computer is running 7/24 and I dont lid the screen. It sleeps every night (with lock screen). Since last 10 days, native apple application not working (safari, activity monitor etc.) when system waking up from sleep (typing password and hitting the enter).
icons are keeps bouncing, but not working. Some third party application is running but after a while, they and Finder stops working. System must be switched off by power button.
After the reboot, everytings goes well. All applications are working.
I have verify and repair disk permission via Disk Utility from Utilities and in the recovery tool. But doesnt effect. Next morning same problem.
Re-installed Mountain Lion and restore from Time Machine. After two days same problem occours again.

I have this same exact problem with my iMac. It just started happening this week I notice. If I power down the machine sometimes it hangs on shutdown which forces me to kill the power and when I power the machine back up all is fine for a while. If I try to launch any native Apple app llike Safari or Disk Utility all I receive is a bouncing icon in the dock. It never starts, so I have to kill it. If I use FireFox it start without a hitch. I am running 10.8.2, so something is worng here. I have not added any new software that I didn't already have.

Macbook white 2006 does not start - black screen - no chime

i got a problem here, my macbook white late 2006 does not start, i dont hear a chime just the DVD room trying to eject something but nothing is in it.
I tried to put a dvd and reinstall os but it just spins the dvd and ejects it while the black screen is on.
i tried SMC, PRAM reset still nothing happend , black screen still on.
I hear the HDD spinning and the light indicatior it white all the time, i even tried to replace the ram to another slot but nothing and i tried to disconnect the DVD drive and still does not boot up.
can someone help me?

Group Preferences mounting AFP, but not starting apps at login

I need a little help on this one please. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I have OD working. In Workgroup Manage I am trying to mount a shared volume and start 3 applications for a group of users. I have added all these under the Login preference for the group. When a user logs in, they get the share-point, but the apps do not start. I can add the apps to the computers (bound computers in WM) and the apps will start, but I was wanting to do this for a group of users, not a group of computers. Can someone help me figure out what I am doing wrong?
I also tried to add the share-point to the Dock preferences hoping to see the mounted volume in the Dock, but that is not working either. Is there a trick to do this?

Macbook burning hot would not start

got my new blackbook mon. 6-19 (build week 24) used it for a couple of hours today (was reading mac 101 on this site) set the comp. to sleep to watch tv couple hours later picked it up almost to hot to hold set it back on table tried to wake would not start. finally left lid up for about 10min. pushed power button and it started got error message with send report button sent report and shut it down. anybody have any idea what happened?

Time Capsule works with MacBook Pro (Mavericks) but not with IOS devices? recent problem starting March 1, 2015.

I have a Time Capsule version 7.7.3 (model A1470) which has worked fine for almost 2 years with all devices, Apple and otherwise. As of beginning of this month, March 2015 - no longer works with a new IPAD mini 3 and 6-month old iPhone 6 (both updated as of last night) BUT still works fine with MacBook Pro (Mavericks 10.9.5) and Epson printer XP-600.
On both IOS devices Airport Utility shows the Time Capsule and shows green light connection to internet, but never does the connection. The little status circle just keeps going round and never shows the Wifi rainbow symbol. both devices work fine on other Wifi's. Airport Utility on iPhone actually connects enough to check on Airport base station's firmware 7.7.3 and says it is up to date! but sadly stays on LTE.
Have tried resetting, replugging etc...
Also, tried checking on updates. Nothing shows in Airport Utility. When I try to go to see past updates ~/Library/Application Support/Apple/AirPort/Firmware to see if updated, there is no Airport in the Apple folder?
A mystery...

Reset the TC to factory and redo the setup. see details below.
Here is the typical list of things you should try.. and if this doesn't help post again.
Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
Setup the TC again.
ie Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the hard disk doing this.
Then redo the setup from the computer or perhaps it is better using iOS on the phone or ipad currently having issues.
1. Use very short names.. NOT APPLE RECOMMENDED names. No spaces and pure alphanumerics.
eg TCgen5 and TCwifi for basestation and wireless respectively.
Even better if the issue is more wireless use TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as this also seems to help stop the nonsense. But this can be tried in the second round. For iOS the fixed channels particularly for 2.4ghz has helped.
2. Use all passwords that also comply but can be a bit longer. ie 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.. no non-alphanumerics.
3. Ensure the TC always takes the same IP address.. you will need to do this on the main router using dhcp reservation.. or a bit more complex setup using static IP in the TC. But this is important.. having IP drift all over the place makes for poor networking. If the TC is main router it will not be an issue. This is a problem for a TC in bridge mode.
If this is of no help.. what modem do you have? What function other than modem does it have.. ie none or router??
How is the TC connected into the network? What function does it have? Router or bridge for example.
Post a few screenshots of the setup.

Macbook Pro 2010 will not start up properly

My Macbook Pro suddenly stopped responding to my actions, which it had never done before (ex. my music on itunes would stop playing without me presseing anything). I shut it down forcefully. At first it did not turn on and was making these weird noises near the power button on the right side. Then I tried restarting it again, and after about 15 minutes was able to get to my desktop. However, I couldn't open any of the files. Now everytime I restart it, it keeps going in and out from a blank desktop screen to a blue screen. If i keep it like that for a while it does the same thing with my password box and the black screen. I tried resetting the SCM and PRAM. Nothing happened when I reset the SMC, but when I reset the PRAM it brought me to a different login, which recognized my keyboard and was responding right away. However, after inputting my password it just went to the regular black password screen and continued going back and forth between that and a black screen. Also my keyboard lights go on and off. HELP!!!!!!! I have two exams and 4 papers next week and I cannot afford to lose everythin.

you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it reach the login screen now?

Apple TV 2 choppy video playback when mirroring from Macbook Pro (Yosemite) and Macbook Air (Yosemite) but not iOS devices

Video playback is choppy (cuts out every 30-45 seconds) when air playing from both my MacBook Air 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5 running Yosemite and my husbands new MacBook Pro, but runs perfectly when mirroring from any of our iOS devices (iPhone 6+, iPad mini 3, etc.) We have Apple TV 2. This problem just started a few weeks ago, was working fine around Christmas. The problem seems to have coincidentally started right after our son tried plugging in and setting up his Chromecast on our tv. I disconnected the Chromecast, but we still have the problem. All of our software if up to date and I've tried disconnecting blue tooth, we do not have a microwave and our wifi network has a very strong signal. We have an Airport Extreme base station. You can choose between two desktop resolution matching modes that let you select which display will have the best image. When AirPlay Mirroring is turned on, select an option under "Match Desktop Size To:" in the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra.
Match Desktop Size To: Apple TV
AirPlay Mirroring changes the desktop resolution to best match your Apple TV, resulting in a 16:9 image that fills the HDTV screen. This setting often produces the sharpest image on the HDTV. The aspect ratio and/or resolution of the built-in Mac display may change to accommodate the Apple TV.
Match Desktop Size To: This Mac
AirPlay Mirroring scales the contents of the desktop to fit on the Apple TV, leaving the resolution of your Mac's display unchanged. Use this setting for the sharpest image on your Mac's display. Depending on your Mac model, the resulting image may not fill the HDTV screen.
Troubleshooting AirPlay Mirroring
If you don't see mirroring options
If your Mac and Apple TV are on the same network, but no AirPlay Mirroring menu appears, your Apple TV may be asleep. Simply press a button on your Apple TV remote to wake it up. After a few seconds, the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra appears. If you still don't see the options you expect, make sure your Apple TV has the current software update installed. Also make sure that you have the "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" option selected in the Displays pane of System Preferences.
If the menu bar or Dock is cropped
Some HDTVs have bezels that cover a small percentage of the screen. This can result in a slight cropping of a full-resolution HDTV image. Depending on the HDTV model, AirPlay Mirroring may automatically adjust the picture size to prevent cropping. If you are using OS X Mountain Lion or later, and you see cropping of the menu bar or Dock when using AirPlay Mirroring, toggle the Overscan correction option in Displays preferences.
Minimize video post-processing
HDTVs often apply picture quality enhancements intended to improve the look of film and video sources. In some cases, these enhancements can lead to over-sharpening artifacts when displaying your Mac desktop. Some HDTV models have built-in settings to change or disable the enhancements for use with a computer (computer, presentation, or game modes). Otherwise, the controls for sharpness, detail enhancement and noise reduction can be used to optimize the appearance of the Mac desktop. Consult your HDTV’s manual for guidance on the appropriate settings for use with a computer.
Firewall security settings
If you use a firewall, make sure the following firewall security options have been set to allow AirPlay Mirroring to work:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu ().
Click Security & Privacy, then click Firewall.
Click the lock icon to unlock it if it's locked, then type an administrator name and password.
Click Firewall Options.
Deselect (uncheck) the “Block all incoming connections” checkbox.
Select (check) the “Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections” checkbox.

Runs on harddrive but not on webserver?

I used the 'Advanced Slideshow' template in Flash CS5 to create a photo gallery. The images in the template are not placed inside of the project but are separate files (the photos). I tested it on my harddrive and it works perfectly. Then I uploaded it to my website and it doesn't show the images. Why is that? The folder structure is the same as it is on my harddrive, all the files are the same.

Your images have also been saved with a mixure of file extensions, .jpg and .JPG. You'll need to just use one or the other and then match that to the loader you are using. Also image files all start with upper case letter... error message shows a lower case.. which did you intent to use?
