Macbook replacement looks used
Hi,
So I replaced my macbook AIR cause it had horrible AUO screen. My eyes were hurting and on 10th day I decided to exchange and try my luck with samsung. I got lucky! New screen is SM and it is way better.
But I've a suspision apple guyz gave me a previously returned item! What makes me believe this? Aluminum body has few barely noticable scratches. It's not worth headache and I'm not going to exchange anything. But is there any way to check this?
Box was sealed anyhow, but I doubt it's hard to seal it.
I bought it at Milan official apple store. But I still doubt them, plus they were not very kind with me, few of them quite arrogant and full of themselves. While I'm new to MAC, I'm a linux admin and I understand quite a bit about machines and OS, despite this I was treated like a dumb customer
p.s. I had to explain to them how to set monitor color profiles, and than explain that this wasn't a problem. 4 of them at my back shouting different ideas, but once they saw me traficing with terminal instead of GUI all of them disappeared
As with most hardware warranties, it may be repaired/refurbished.

Assuming you have a wireless network at home, just use file sharing. System Preferences / Sharing. Choose a folder you want to share and you're done.

i have a macbook and am using outlook 2011 as email. receiving okay. sending okay sometimes. am now getting error message 4.7.0 not allowed when sending. what is the cause? how do I fix please?
I have discovered that the emails have in fact been sent but much later, maybe it's a network problem with the people i am sending it to. so i checked my sent items and they are there, but at the time the email doesn't go straight into the sent box or drafts so i'm assuming it's disappeared and type it again. i'll keep going with it, until someone can give me a possible solution or explanation as to what is happening.

Unfortunately, no you can't.
Just to be clear. Your computer will support AirPlay it's just AirPlay Mirroring that requires newer hardware.

Just need to plug the TC in to the hub in bridge mode.. do not try and bridge the homehub.. it is not possible with the setup BT uses.
To bridge the TC.. plug it directly into a computer by ethernet.. no other connection to the TC or the computer.
Press and hold in reset until the front LED flashes rapidly.. about 10sec.
Release the reset.
Open the airport utility and setup the TC to bridge mode.
The actual method depends on version of the OS and airport utility you use.
This is version 5.
Sorry I cannot post the v6 as I am on a snow leopard computer now. But you go to the network tab, and choose off bridge mode for method of connection. It will be NAT and dhcp by default.
Then setup wireless.. you have a number of choices here.
Either setup with the same SSID Security and password, as the homehub uses.. or a different name, and password..
Each method works fine.. but you sometimes have issues with wireless channels.. for now leave it on auto and see what happens.. if you have issues lock down the radio channels on both devices.. use one out of the following on each, 1, 6, 11 or 13 in UK.. so say 6 on the homehub then 13 onthe TC.
Update the TC.. unplug fromt the computer and plug it into the homehub.

Had a recent crash on my macbook, was previously using OS 10.6 I think. Restored from recent Time Machine backup and updated to OS 10.8.2 and now I cannot open Logic Pro 9. I get a 'No entry' Icon and a not supported on this type of Mac message. I cannot update either as anything up to 9.1.1 tells me I don't need it yet 9.1.2 tells me I need an eligable Logic Pro Version was not found in applications.
All of my files are stored in a separate hard drive with only the actual app having been on my Macbook. Should I just reinstall?Hi
To run Mouitain Lion you need to update Logic.
For the updaters to work the Logic application must be:
a) Within the Applications folder, and not in any sub-folder
b) Named "Logic Pro" with no extra numbers or spaces

I'm using ezcap.tv 116 ezgamer capture card to record my PS3, this is on a windows laptop, Im then moving the recorded videos in mpg format over to my MacBook Pro to use IMovie to edit them so i can upload them to youtube but it won't let me import them, even after changeing them to MP4 format, it just comes up with the message: "No Importable Files None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again."
Ive even tried opening in itunes and copying from thier but they wont open in Itunes, no message or anything they simple just dont open. its strange because it does open in quicktime player.

The computer is designed so that at max load, at max fan speed, it won't overheat (unless it's obstructed by something, e.g. sitting on your bed swallowed by a comforter). It's not the best thing to keep it that toasty for days at a time, but a couple hours at a time shouldn't be a problem.
Second problem: If something in the trash won't delete, just use Secure Empty Trash and it should be fine. Since .torrent files are quite small, it should only take a couple seconds. -

I'm assuming your dvd drive is broken? if you have a thumb drive large enough (8GB or better), you can use another computer to make a bootable image from the install dvd to the thumb drive. then you can install from the the thumb drive.

TomWhoa, I found the answer by clicking on one of the questions in the "More Like This" box to the right. I do wonder how to find that box before posting my dumb question. The answer turned out to be checking the youtube volume control. I turned that up and it solved the problem for Comast as well.

I would like to connect a printer that requires OS 10.6 or newer. My MacBook is currently using OS 10.5.8. In searching for a software update, I am told no updates are needed (and am given no option for updating my OS). How can I upgrade my OS to 10.6 or newer?
You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .8 added to OSX 10.5 or the .11 added to OSX 10.4..
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was written for Power PC Macs with code added to force it to run on Intel processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion ($19.99) used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion ($19.99) is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It can only run on the Late 2008 through Mid 2010 MacBooks. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.
10.9 Mavericks is pure 64 bit and is a free download from the App store.
The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store.
