  • Can you use AirPlay to connect your Macbook to a HDTV via apple TV if the Macbook screen is shut and you have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard?

I would like to display my Macbook content to myHDTV via apple TV airplay however I would like to store the computer in the entertainment center with the display closed and use the bluetooth keybard and trackpad to control the computer. Any thoughts?

    Yes, you can. XD
I thought now airplay is eqully functioning as HDMI/thunderbolt cables, wirelessly. But only one problem, with 1080P videos, it is a little bit laggy for my Macbook Air 2011, perhaps if you get a newer model, this won't happen at all.

From the App Store menu bar click Store > Sign Out
Quit and relaunch the App Store then click Store > Sign In with the correct Apple ID.

  • Problems with MacBook requirements for Aperture

Eager to enter the world of Aperture, I ran down to my local Mac store to upgrade my MacBook RAM from 2x256 MB to 2x512 MB after receiving the message in the beginning of installment that a minimum of 1GB RAM was required to run the software.
Having done that, everything seemed OK: the installer allowed me to proceed and finish the installation. However - when I try to open Aperture, I get the annoying message: “ Your computer does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for Aperture”...
I’ve read many of the discussion threads concerning this issue and it seems that it definately is possible to run Aperture on MacBooks.
The final comment in this thread especially seemed to answer the question once and for all: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2405153
I even ran the Aperture Compatibility Checker 1.5.1 to make sure that every requirement was met - got the message that I could run Aperture on the MacBook - but I can’t!
    Help!

    - Correction: not the final comment on the mentioned thread, but the comment by Joe Schorr:
Re: New MacBook 13" Doesn't run Aperture??
Posted: May 16, 2006 10:31 AM in response to: Badlydrawnboy
    Solved
Aperture does run on the new MacBooks, but it is NOT officially supported, >due to limitations with the graphics card. This means if you call AppleCare, >you'll simply be told that you're running Aperture on an unsupported >configuration. It's an "at-your-own-risk" experience.
That being said, Aperture will install and run on a MacBook...at least you're >not disallowed from using it. No hacks needed!
And of course, Aperture is fully supported on all MacBook PRO models.

  • Can an iPod touch be used for streaming via wifi from iTunes ?

    Hi,
I suspect the answer is 'No' but I'd love someone to tell me otherwise.
    Thanks
    -Mat

You can also use Tversity to stream audio and video content from your PC to the iPhone or iPod Touch.
    http://tversity.com/home
There are some crippling limitations, however:
    1) It appears that right now, all videos need to be transcoded to iPod format before they can stream. And unlike streaming via the Xbox or other devices, the transcoding has to completely finish before you can stream the video, whereas other devices allow you to transcode and stream on the fly.
    2) There doesn't appear to be a way to shuffle music or use playlists. So if you stream music, you can only play one song and then use the interface to select another... it won't keep playing from a playlist or automatically go to another song.
I can confirm, however, that the streaming does indeed work with the iPod Touch, not just the iPhone. I tried it myself and it worked, but the limitations above make it impractical for me to use regularly. Perhaps the folks at Tversity will be able to add more features over time.

  • Minimum requirements for streaming from Mac to Apple TV

I'm thinking about getting an Apple TV, but one major requirement is that I can share my Mac desktop so I can stream TV shows from cbs.com and other websites and watch them on the big TV. Do I have to have Mountain Lion to do this? Or can I do it with a lower OS?

  • Photo stream via apple tv

can anyone help?  I want to look at selected photos through my Apple TV and create a slide show.  I have a step by step manual on how do do this.  I followed the steps after deciding to set this up via the computer app and home sharing method.  Itunes is up to date, and open and on same network as my Apple tv but for some reason my library will not load.
iI then decided to switch my photo stream on, on my iPhone 5 and see if I could stream the photos i want, this has not worked either I get a message that there is no activity and a 0 shows next to my photo stream on the iCloud app on my Apple tv.
I am extremely fed up now as I have wasted so much time trying to sort this out.  Is my apple TV box broken or is it just a load of rubbish and does not do as Apple advertise it to do.
HAs has anyone else experienced the same problem?

Have you deleted these photos from your camera roll or from the photo stream album. You need to delete them from the photo stream album for them to disappear from the Apple TV. However if you have opted to use the new iCloud photos on your mobile device it's all a bit complicated during the transition period (indeed some go so far as to describe it as a mess )
iCloud photos and photo stream are different things. If you are using iCloud photos, new photos will be added to iCloud photos which behind the scenes will also be added to photo stream, however when you delete photos from iCloud photos they aren't automatically deleted from photo stream. But you can do this from your Apple TV.

  • Music streaming via Apple TV

While using my Apple tv to stream music, it all the time jumps back to the internal speakers of my Mac book. Anyone knows how to solve this?

    Hi Jouk,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has steps to try if you are seeing issues with AirPlay between your computer and Apple TV:
iTunes: Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5209
    Troubleshooting performance issues
    Wi-Fi Connection
If you are experiencing intermittent playback or significant network lag with AirPlay, it could be due to a weak Wi-Fi connection, interference, or the distance between the Wi-Fi router and your AirPlay-enabled device.
Ensure that other devices aren't trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
Use the Wi-Fi network troubleshooting guide to resolve interference and other issues.

  • Adobe Flash Player required for streamed internet radio broadcasts

I am not well-versed in the technical aspects of why Adobe Flash Player is not allowed on the iPad2 (and other Apple devices). But I don't
understand how "damaging" is would be to allow its use to enable an iPad2 user to listen to streamed radio broadcasts which--apparently--require Adobe Flash Player.

A quick search of the forum will give you numerous threads that explain the issue. In fact, just look at a couple in the More Like This box to the right of your post.
    Best of luck.

  • A reliable setup for streaming to Apple TV

I'm actually looking for suggestions. At the time I got the ATV2 I had a Linksys wireless cable gateway 200 with the economy internet plan from comcast (1 mbps). That was obviously way too slow so I upgraded to the 6 mbps and now thats much better. But I'm running into problems with my connection. I would stream a TV show and every 5-10 minutes the connection gets hung up. The way I fix it is to keep restarting my linksys - then its fine again for another 10 minutes. I'm thinking my problem is the linksys since ATV shows a strong signal and my wired connection runs great. So I'd like to replace my linksys for another wireless cable modem (i'd really rather not have extra boxes/routers and stuff) so I'd like suggestions I was thinking the motorola surfboard SBG6580 but am really just interested in getting what would help me get the most of my internet connection that won't break the bank. If that necessitates a separate router let me know.

It is G, I've tried positioning the ATV in a couple different places one of which it was out in the open and could not have been obstructed by anything (visible at least). Any place I put it though the ATV does show that very strong signal in the ATV networks setting. The connection gets hung up on my iphone as well but doesn't feel as frequent and again I only notice when I'm streaming something like a video (i.e. youtube or vevo).

  • When you sent your Macbook for service, did Apple fix the audio pop issue?

I'm experiencing the intermittent audio "pop" problem in my Santa Rose Macbook running 10.5.1. (There are numerous posts on this topic in this forum and elsewhere.)
I'm wondering if this can remedied by a a trip to the Apple repair shop.
For those who have experienced this problem, and who have sent their Macbooks back for repair -- was Apple able to solve the issue? Or is it unlikely to be remedied hardware, and instead be patched with a firmware fix via software update?
