Macbook restarts when trying to shutdown

Hi all,
So i've got a macbook air, and every time I try to shutdown through the apple menu, it will turn off and then restart. Very annoying!! The only way of completely shutting down is holding the power button down, which I know isn't healthy at all.
I'm running the latest version of Mavericks and so far have tried reinstalling Mavericks and also a PRAM reset, but with no luck. Any ideas anyone?

    Please refer to following operations and check if can help you.
    1.
    wmic /node:"HOSTNAME" /user:"ADMIN_USER" /password:"PASSWORD" logicaldisk
    Please replace HOSTNAME with IP address, then monitor the result.
    2. Please open Control Panel, select User Accounts and click Manage another account. Then select the user account which you will use in WMIC command. Then please select Change
    the account type and check if you have set it as Administrator. If no, please set it as Administrator and check if this issue still persists.
    3. Please refer to the following thread and check if can help you.

  • MacBook restarts when select shutdown

    Hi,
    I have a macbook that everytime I choose shutdown it restarts its self. I tried reinstalling the OS. That made not different, repaired the disk permissions still no join. I think its the dvd drive that keeping the macbook from shutting down is there anyway I can switch this off/disable the drive in anyway. That may make it so I can use and shutdown the macbook. The drive works cause I can install the software from discs.
    Any help will be greatly received.

    Have you tried several methods for shutting down (choosing from the menu, pushing the power button and selecting shut down, etc)
    If so, try resetting the SMC. This will not affect your data.

  • Mountain Lion Crashes and Restarts When Trying to Sleep

    Ever since I installed Mountain Lion, when I try to put my early 2011 MacBook Pro to sleep it crashes and then auto restarts.  I can't find anything in the log files to indicate what is causing this crash.  This seems different than the reported bugs of the sleep function under the Apple menu not working.  It tries to sleep, then "bong" it reboots and tells me it restared because there was a problem.

    Actually it hangs at almost every program launched.
    It crashes during archiving process using winrar, when I tried to copy a file larger than 4GB, when launching windows internet update, avast antivirus internet update, when configuring local network, when trying to launch Prince of Persia: two thrones, when playing Dark messiah of might & magic (those were the only games I installed).
    At the moment I'm quite determined to report everything to the thoshiba service and ask to use the guarantee or sumething like that.
    When I reported the errors as Windows proposed, it showed that it is a graphic card problem, it said to install new drivers or decerase the speed of the display device (though it never had beed incerased by me). Either reinstalling the new derivers or decereasing power of the graphic card didn't help.
    The new, never seen by me blue screen showed me this: IRQ_NOT_LOWER_THAN_EQUAL (or somthing simmilar).
    As I wrote at the begining it crashes almost at every opportunity...

  • Macbook Restarts when it is connecting to external monitor

    Hi Guys,
    My mac Book pro with retina display is restarting when it connected with the external monitor. I use this laptop for my work. so i will be using my mac and external screen at the same time.
    This is happening to the new computer. restart never happened with my old mac. OS is Mac Mavricks and i'm using the same extinction cable that i used to use for my old mac. The extinction cable is not from Apple.

  • MacBook Pro freezes when trying to shutdown

    My macbook pro freezes and the screen turns blank when i try to turn it off. instead i have to hold down the power button and get the "mac os x shut down or something" message. it happens randomly and i cant figure out what to do. i have tried all of the restarts and have done a virus scan, although i know macs dont get viruses. any help?

    I'm trying to sync my iPhone 4 in iTunes using the USB.  As soon as it starts, my MBP shuts down and restarts.  Any suggestions as to why this is happening and/or how I can fix it?

    Also, I've tried restarting and I've swapped USB cables as well.  My iTunes llibrary is on an external hard drive that is also connected to the MBP via a single USB cable.

  • Why does my computer restart when trying to print? OSX 10.8.3 epson 2200

    I seem to have a problem on my macpro 3,1 3ghz, osx10.8.3 computer when i try to print. When clicking print in any program, it will automatically restart my computer. I've tried resetting the printer settings in system preferences, and when clicking plus to add the printer, it will restart again. The printer is an epson 2200.
    I've downloaded the huge printers driver files again, and still nothing. Also tried to fix permissions and that didnt help.
    Everything was working fine printing before osx 10.8.3.
    Any help would be great.

    On the phone today with Senior Apple Tech guys for ovber an hour. I have a case number. They said they hope to have something by Saturday.
    I will keep this forum posted if and when I get anything.
    In the meantime USB is working just fine.
    BTW, spoke with 2 Epson techs and they both said basically talk to Apple, and as far as they knew Apple wasn't supporting Fireire any longer.
    It is true that the new machines do not have FW ports. Never the less, the printers were all fine on 10.8.2 and FW so obviously there was a slipup somewhere.
    I have had Macs since day one. I consult quite a few photographers and architects on their computers.
    In the last several years there have been very few problems, and none that I recall that brought down the whole system.
    The old days, yes, but this really startled me. To say nothing of the promised print job I was starting!
    Keep the faith that Apple will fix this, and quickly!

  • Dreamweaver CS5 on Retina Macbook Pro - When trying to open, nothing happens

    When I try to open Dreamweaver CS5 on my new Retina Macbook Pro, nothing happens. It shows the Apple and "Dreamweaver" in the status bar, but no file, window, etc. Also, the launch screen never shows. Eventually, I have to Force Quit, as nothing happens (even when leaving it run for hours)
    I have tried the following 'fixes' based on other discussions that I have found with 0 success:
    Created a new admin account and tried to open from that
    Reinstalled
    Updated
    Ran the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool
    Permission Fix in Disk Utility
    Changing permissions on the /User/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver folder
    I have also seen some recommendations that I remove/rename the Configuration folder from the en-US folder in the Dreamweaver folder mentioned above. However, I don't even have a en-US folder. Hmm?
    I do not have FileVault activated currently, although I will need to eventually, as it is company policy. I am just trying to get it to run first before I turn on FV and troubleshoot that.

    Presumably, the folder is empty because Dreamweaver never launches successfully. I was going to suggest reinstalling because you might have a corrupt installation, but it seems as though you have already tried that. I wonder if your installation disk or dmg is corrupt?
    There is a dedicated forum for installation issues at http://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup?view=discussions. It might be worth asking there. I wish I could be of more help.

    I own a macbook with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b) operating system.  The problem with my macbook is that when i shut it down freezes before it turns off. In order to fix the problem i repaired th disk permissions and i reinstalled the operating system but the same thing happens all the time.  If anyone has an answer about my issue please let me know what the problem.

    Reinstalling is not the only way.  But as you mentioned that you had reinstalled, I just wanted to confirm if it was a clean installation or if you had installed over your previous installation.  If it was a clean install and you still had the problem, we would be able to rule out any third party applications causing the problem.  Now we'll just need to track down the application which is preventing your system from shutting down.
    How long has this been happening?  If it started recently, do you recall installing any applications shortly before you experienced the problem?
    You can check the system logs and see if any of your applications appear to be causing a problem at shutdown.  You can go into your Applications / Utilities folder and launch the Console application.  In particular, check out the System and CrashReporter logs.

    After upgrading to VS 2013 Ultimate I can no longer open solutions.  I begin to see the solution open, but I then get a message saying Visual Studio has stopped responding and it restarts.  I can run fine if I run visual studio is SafeMode.

    According to your description, I recommend you can follow up these steps below to handle the issue：
    First, try to disable the windows process which is running.
    Second, you say you can run VS in the safeMode. It seems there is something wrong with VSCommands extension or other plugin. You can try to disable all extensions, restart visual studio and re-enable them; sometimes it resolves such issue.

    My iPhone 4S, freshly updated to iOS6, keeps restarting with dimmed display when I try to move Passbook app to my third (or any other) screen?
    I repeated this 7 times so far, it happens every single time!!!

    try doing a hard reset (hold the power and home buttons together for 15s) then trying again
    or you could try something silly like adding passbook to a folder moving the folder to another screen then taking it out of said folder
