Macbook retina has no CD drive - how to install Windows??

I have the new Macbook 15" retina and I'm trying to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp, but I just realized there is no CD/DVD drive on this model to insert the Windows disc. How to I install Windows and the drivers???

I am not 100% sure, but the retina mbp is the only new MBP that allows booting fron an external DvD drive.
If it will not boot directly, use another computer to make an ISO file (on USB) from the Windows CD and use that one to install Windows. The OS10.7 and 10.8 Bootcamp can not handle XP only 7 and 8.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You need a USB drive to install the Windows support software. It contains all the drivers that your MacBook Pro needs, and you will have to install them after finishing the Windows installation. If you don't install them, a lot of things won't work: the wireless card, the sound card, the brightness, the trackpad gestures... Apart from that, you don't need it for anything else.

Macbook bad DVD drive how to install windows in bootcamp

My macbook has a bad DVD drive. I just upgraded it to snow leopard and want to install windows using bootcamp. Unfortunately when the windows installation starts the machine reboots but does not seem to be able to detect the windows disc in an external dvd that I have attached to it. I tried two different usb dvd readers and finally a firewire one I had laying around to no avail.
without the DVD drive working, how can I get it to install Windows?

Thanks for your help. I received the disc and installed the os but I had to use a flashlight because everything was dark. I finished the install and it is still dark is there any solution for this. I tried making the brightness up but, it does not work.

I have an HP Envy dv6 with a 1TB hard drive. The thing is that i'm thinking of buying a 256 SSD to configure as primary disk and the current HDD as second. My question is: when installing the SSD, how can I install windows 8.1 and use my original windows key?
I've searched in the battery and on the back of my laptop and I couldn't find the serial number. Some people says that is its embeded in the motherboard and when windows is installed it automatically recognize the serial. But my main concern is how can I get a Windows 8.1 version to install. Should I download an .iso from any internet site? how can I know that that version is compatible with my serial number?

OK, use Windows 8 in Bootcamp. Be aware that there are no Bootcamp drivers for Windows 8 yet. So you may experiance not only delays but display problems, freezing, crashes and other problems.

This is the best I can do. This way you can use the 2011 MBA way to do things.
Look for the post from @jacktourist. (on page 2 about half way down) This seems to be the easiest.
There are a couple of more similar to this with pictures I've seen around but can't remember where.

Put the Install Disc in another Mac tathas Firewire, put the other Mac into Target mode...

This turns the other Mac into a big Firewire DVD drive, then boot the MDD holding the Option Key, select the Install Disc in the other Mac to boot the MDD from.

I am sorry in case this has been covered before, but i couldnt find anything searching different categgories here, so i´d appreciate some help.
I have got a late 2011 MacBook Air with lots of SSD and so on and i want to install windows 7.
I bought a wndows 7 OEM DVD (actually, two discs, one says support software)
I have tried to run bootcamp and follow the instructions, but to now end.
on my macbook air, i get the option "create a windows 7 disc" or something like that (the first option), which doesnt help me because i dont have optical drive
when i start boot camp on my iMac, this option will be greyed out.
Also, I have tried to to ISO copys of the windows DVD and save them to a USB stick but i just wouldnt come to any result.
does anybody have a good, comprehensive instruction on how to install windows 7 on an MBA withou optical drive?
Also, is 30GB OK for Win 7 if you basically dont wanna do to much in windows (no office etc, just some small clients)

30GB is not enough, especially on an SSD. Normally 50-60GB and with SSD I'd go with 80-90GB.

There is a program to create DVD from ISO or .exe
Apple Boot CAmp Assistant should have prompted to save a driver for you to support a USB-DVD, in addition to the normal Apple B.C. drivers you save to flash card.
Disk Utility is not a good method for burning Windows DVDs.

I purchased a brand new Macbook Pro last week, retina display and all. I've enjoyed it thus far, yet for whatever reason, I can't seem to install windows on a partition in BootCamp like I used to be able to. I'm on Mavericks of course, 10.9.3. I tried installing Windows on an 8gb flash drive, only to find it freeze right as the Windows initial setup comes up. I have no disc drive on this laptop, and I see no reason why I would have to buy an external optical drive just to install windows. I have an ISO file from my university, and all I want to do is use it. Also, VmWare Fusion is not what I'm looking to use.The Graphics card driver fails for most of my favorite steam games. I'd like to use bootcamp how it used to be. I tried editing the assistant's .plist after finding a tutorial on google, but Bootcamp crashes every time. I'm out of options. So my question is how do I install windows 7 on this computer?
Really hoping someone can solve my problem. All I want to do is play Sniper Elite III, and nothing will work. Thank you

My usb confirmed bootable! I created it with bootcamp, and tested it on a different macbook and it works. But doesn't work on MacBook Air. (Even startup disk doesn't detect it as bootable in Air)

Thousands have successfully tried it themselves and installed Windows on a Macbook Air. Perhaps if you provided some details about what you did and what errors you observed we could help you. The Boot Camp instaructions, if followed, will produce a successful install.
