Macbook screen not aligned to base

Hi guys,
I purchased a new MBP from Apple's website and noticed that the screen is not aligned to the base. It do not look normal at all as the laptop itself is not fixed properly. May I know if I can get help from anywhere to fix the issue? This is bothering me every time I open or close the laptop as it is very obvious.
Thanks!

  • Late 2008 MacBook screen not working

Hello, I have a MacBook from around November 2008 running 10.5.8. About a week ago I was watching a YouTube video when the display suddenly shut off and the screen went blank. The video had sound to it which I could still hear. I assumed it was just a random reboot as 3 year old computers do not always perform flawlessly. I held down the power button to turn off the computer and waited 5 minutes before turning it back on. After turning it back on everything was working fine and I thought nothng of it. However today I was again watching a YouTube video and the screen randomly shut off again. I did the same thing as last time but this time when I turned it back on the screen never returned to is normal state. I have tried multiple times to no avail. Everything else seems fine I still get the startup chime and sound of the fan. While using it sometimes the light will flicker for a second in the corner of the screen and then return back to black. I tried when it is on but the screen is black to shine a flashlight through the apple logo on the back and I can vaguely see in the area of where the flashlight is. As my laptop is 3 years old I am no longer under warranty. I have a lot of important files on my laptop for college and really do not want to have to shell out for a new laptop. I have an Ipad and 2 itouch's as well and have never had an issue with an apple product. Thank you very much.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Have you tried resetting the SMC? If not, this may correct the problem.

  • Macbook screen not working, now it is, even after the service centre told me it needed replaceing, what gives?

My son's Macbook was taken to the local Mac service centre as the screen had suddenly gone blank.
I was told that the screen needed to be replaced.
This evenimng my son opend it up and hay it's working again.
Could anyone tell me if the Service centre has been pulling my chain or was it just a loose conection after all?
    Cheers
    Jon

    Hi Jon
I think you're being somewhat unfair.  The repair guy can only give a diagnosis from the information he has available at the time, which was a completely dead screen. The screen springing back to life is new information he didn't have.
I can't comment on the $115 charge. As with car repairs, it's always cheaper to do your own, but laptops are at least 10 times more difficult to repair than desktops. I'm happy to dive inside a desktop computer but I've always left laptops to the professionals.  I'll also add that I always buy the extended warranty for a laptop.

  • New Macbook Pro Lid not Aligned Properly

    Hi all,
I received my new 2010 15" HR i7 Macbook Pro earlier this month (May) and have been very happy with it up until yesterday when I noticed that the screen lid and the rest of the body do are not aligned properly when the lid is closed. There is an offset of about 1.5mm in the left-to-righthand direction.
The computer is only weeks old and hasn't been dropped or mishandled, so I was wondering where I stand here. It's not a massive deal really, but I feel as a virtually brand new machine, this thing should be perfect. Would I be entitled to a replacement for this defect, and if so, how long would I likely be without a machine whilst I send it back etc. (it has some customisations so can't be exchanged in a retail store).
    Thanks in advance

Hi chapowski and welcome to Apple Discussions!
You are asking questions here which we don't really have any way of answering. Your best bet is to contact Apple ((44) 0844 209 0611 in the UK) and let them know your problem, and ask what they can do for you.
Just FYI, Apple typically does not replace computers unless they are unable to repair them. Since it is not a stock machine, a repair would likely take less time than a replacement anyway.
    Best of luck.

  • Macbook 13 inch late 2008 screen not illuminated on one side

    Hi Apple Community,
I need help! My late 2008 13 inch aluminium Macbook screen has 'died' on one side resulting in one side being noticeably dark. The left side has no problems, only the right side.
I am a student living in New Zealand where there is no Apple store in the country I can go to. Local service shop says just to look at it and confirm that one side is dark (which any 2 year old cad identify that it is) will cost a ridiculous $100. Estimated cost will be around $1000 to replace screen.
Has anyone had the same problem and how have you solved it? What is the cost of repair or is there something I can do it help it?
    Macbook specs:
    MacBook, 13inch, Aluminium, Late 2008
Processor: 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 4 GB
    Software: OS X 10.9.4 (Mavericks)
    I do not have AppleCare
    Thanks!

Try these folks at www.usedmac.com.  You may have some luck getting technical help from them by email.  It is more difficult by phone.  You can look through the parts list for what they have in stock for your computer model to get an idea of the prices.  You probably won't need any heavy or large parts so some priority mail  service won't break the bank.  Your problem may simply be a cable but even a back light led or controller circuit board should not be too expensive.  It will require some careful work on your part for replacement.
    good luck.

  • My Macbook will not boot the operating system.  It just goes to a blue screen after the apple logo and the spinning wheel goes off.  I took the battery out and held the on/off button for five seconds and reset the PRAM.  I have the old mac os disk.

You won't lose any data unless you erase your hard drive.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c"key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it.When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've selected the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.

  • Can you WIRELESSLY connect a macbook pro to a monitor to have extra work space on a separate screen from your macbook? (not mirror, extra monitor/workspace)

Can you WIRELESSLY connect a macbook pro to a monitor to have extra work space on a separate screen from your macbook? (not mirror, extra monitor/workspace)
    It needs to be wireless.
I am not asking about mirroring, but as a second screen.
Apple tv communties said the Apple tv cannot do this, but maybe another type device can?

My thunderbolt port stopped working on my late 2011 MacBook Pro rendering my external monitor useless--or so I thought.
Mac Genius suggested using the Apple TV via AirPlay Display as a $100 solution. Took me all of 6 minutes to figure this out as there are no directions in the Apple TV box supporting this. But, it does work and I am now back in business.
PS. Don't set up with bluetooth--seems logical but you want to use AirPlay Display under Settings > Displays.
Also, I originally thought my external monitor stopped working because I upgraded the OS. This time, it was definitely a hardware issue and not software. It also fixed a known sound issue my monitor had with Macs. First time in my 15 years I've ever had a ViewSonic have issues with an Apple product, too. Thanfully, it is now fixed.
    Hope this helps.

If it's a manufacturing defect, yes it would be covered.

  • Hey ppl,my macbook is not booting and by that i mean u can hear the audio wave when its starting up,the screen goes white and then after a while there's a folder with a question mark in the middle of the screen...anyone,any ideea?!?

Hey ppl,my macbook is not booting and by that i mean u can hear the audio wave when its starting up,the screen goes white and then after a while there's a folder with a question mark in the middle of the screen...anyone,any ideea?!?Regards.

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the hard drive data is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the optical drive.
Once it has finished booting and you are at the Install screen launch Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then select the First Aid Tab run Repair Disk and if that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

Snow Leopard is a Mac OS X version. You say that it's the version you have in your Mac (10.6.8). Do a back up of your files, format the hard drive (using Disk Utility) and reinstall again

    Hi..
Your profile indicates you are running Lion v10.7 so you need to use Lion Recovery  to repair the startup disk if necessary or reinstall Mac OS X.
