Macbook stains on the palmrest

After a few short days with my Macbook I started to get ugly yellowish stains on the palmrests. I called APPLECARE.
Congrats to Apple. Took back my laptop on a Weds Afternoon (from NY ) sent it to Tennessee and got it back to me by Friday!
That's the kind of customer service that builds brand name loyalty.

When I bought my MacBook I also just pitched in $20 more for > the marware palm rest. It is soft and comfy as well as protecting that part of the faceplate.
I agree with the marware purchase. good product. I really like mine, although the keyboard protector is about half a centimeter short.

It sounds like you are having a problem which is a known and acknowledged problem by Apple with some white MacBooks. Apple will replace the discolored components with new ones made from a material which is not susceptible to the same problem. They can often do it right at an Apple store. Just give them a call before hand to make sure they have the parts in stock...

White Stains on the cover of MAC !!!!

I just buyed a apple macbook pro two days ago. I was just normally cleaning with a solution (acidic i have no clue), then i started to notice white stains on the cover of my macbook. I tried everything hot water, toothpaste,another solution etc but it would not go. Am so confused i called the apple care as am in india now they told me i have to change the whole cover or lid or whatever !!!!! I just do not get it !!!! Please if anyone had the same problem plzzz help me out. i love my mac i just bought it and now this . If you know an alternate to this plzz tell me!!!!!!

Sounds like you'll need to access that drive while it is not booted. You need to replace it anyway, so do that, then one way or another (ext enclusure, et), access it and copy files.
If you keep trying to boot it, you might kill it for good and not get your files, so just swap it out first.

I would think you cannot return a product after the return date has passed.
Call the Apple Store and ask them.

How do I get internet on both my Mac Pro and my macbook pro at the same time?

Both are running 10.6.8 operating systems.
There is one ethernet jack in my office. The mac pro does not have a wireless card.
I want to use internet on my macbook pro from the mac pro. I'm thinking internet sharing through ethernet cord (ethernet cord from wall to mac pro, then second ethernet cord from mac pro to macbook pro), or via firewire. Both methods tell me on my macbook pro that I am connected to the internet but when I try to use the internet it fails.
Is this an ip address problem? how do I change that?

Get a router.
A Apple Airport Extreme router is easy to setup and has extra ports on the back for Ethernet to the MacPro.
This way you'll have Wifi and can take the MacBook Pro anyplace in range and use it, instead of burning up that Firewire port and being on a leash.
You could be having IPv6 issues with the MacBookPro if it's on a later version of OS X.
Look under your network > Advanced TCIP and turn off IPv6, reboot.

Well, running on a 2006 model. I did not have a startup disc. Initially, it booted up on original software in 2006. Since then, I've upgraded to 10.6 via a box set. And, since then I think I popped it up to lion.
All I have on a disc is snow leopard. And, I can't get farther than the setup screen due to hard drive. I'm taking to a apple authorized repair store right now. We'll see what they tell me . I'm just going to weigh the cost of repair vs. buying new.
Another bad, stupid thing is I had no means of backing up my stuff. So, I might have lost things like music, vids, etc. we'll see if they can recover. If the cost is too much for repair I might just forget it and start over with a new system. Just not sure at this point.

When I plugged it into a monitor I had used it with before, I'm not able to see anything on the macbook screen to control it. It came on but I just got the blue screen with nothing else after typing in my password. (Didn't see the password form just assumed it was there somewhere and it did go from space to blue screen but no desktop icons, files, dock strip at top or anything else, just blank blue screen) so I can't access the system preferences.

I'd like to promise you that everything will be fine if you just get the monitor going - but it's hard to know what the hardware damage might be. It might be the monitor, or the damage might be greater.
Your best solution would be visit your local Apple Store and let them know what your situation is. They have access to diagnostics you don't, and they might be able to the best way to save your data and keep you computing. It's still not covered, but they can tell you what your current options are.
Um, you might consider investing in a backup drive.

Ahh, you want to WIPE the entire drive,.....command R on startup, disk utilities....select MacIntosh HD,......ERASE it format it in MAC OSX extended journaled.
after than, you can do a wifi or ethernet reinstall to factory OUT OF BOX new condition. Usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours if you have a descent fast www connection.

The only observations are that the backup drive is deemed too small and the quite long list of diagnostic reports dated between Jan 18, 2015 (which I believe is the day I upgraded to Yosemite) & today the latest Yosemite update was installed on Jan 28, 2015

Most MacBook Pro models have a Mini DVI port, a Mini DisplayPort or a ThunderBolt port for connecting an external display. USB does not have enough bandwidth to support a responsive display connection.

Hi,
The HDMI port on my Maxent tv is not working. I am hoping to connect my MacBook Pro to the TV via the VGA port on the TV to watch Netflix and movies. What cables do I need that will connect to a VGA port on a TV from my MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)? And will that cable support audio or will I need a separate audio cable?
