The disk utility program has found an error and cannot repair it - Disk Utility is not able to repair the drive it has been booted from. You'll need to restart the computer using another disk - this is one reason why I always travel with an emergency DVD and a bootable external drive. Invalid node structure errors are non-trivial; sometimes Disk Utility will repair them and sometimes not. Disk Warrior has been my second line of defence for disk drive problems for years.

I was in the middle of updating to 7.0.3 and Itunes stopped working. Now my phone is stuck in limbo (apple logo with status bar under) My power button doesnt work (of course) How do I get it back to normal?

I have same issue. I click on the home button and Wake/sleep at the same time for 30 seconds or more and then the phone entered in Recovery mode. It is erasing my content now and installing the update. Let´s see how this ends. I have iCloud, iTunes match, and backups from previos versions, hope I can restore all my content.
Otherwise I´ll go to the Genius Bar to do a checkup.
    Good luck!
It did not work the first time... The iPhone4 kept in limbo. Then I did disconnect as suggested above and tried again to enter in Recovery mode.  This second time it works. And after restoring the iPhone4 with 7.0.3, it asked me if I want to recover from backup. I did recover from my latest back up and now it is syncing the content.

  • 4s won't reboot after ios7 update. I have restored 4 times. Every time it gets stuck on Apple icon with update bar at 10%

4s won't reboot after ios7 update. I have restored 4 times. Every time it gets stuck on Apple icon with update bar at 10%
    HELP!

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

    HI,
*"I have opened disk utility top repair disk, but when I click on disc image, repair / verify disk buttons are unavailable to click and S.M.A.R.T status is not supported."*
You need to select "MacintoshHD 10.5.8 not "disc image" in order to run Disk Utility and Verify and if necessary, Repair the disk.
That's why you are seeing this dialog.
*are unavailable to click and S.M.A.R.T status is not supported.*
Also, run the Apple Hardware Test.

  • Macbook stuck on white screen with folder and question mark

My macbook is stuck at the screen with the folder with a question mark on it. I have tried a few things like the ones I found on google and so far no go. I tried pressing the command + p +r keys and it didn't work. I also tried to eject a cd and nothing. finally i tried pressing the command + option + p + r and nothing. Guys please help me. I really need this laptop.
I even tried just the command + r. I would like to reinstall OS. What are the steps please?

What version of OS X are you running? When you hold down the Command and R keys whilst booting, do you get to the Recovery partition?

  • Mac stuck on Apple screen with spinning cog

My daughter wanted to wipe our iMac and as we don't have a recovery disc she looked it up online and got some codes. I think she out something in wrong as it won't load past the gray apple screen with the spinning cog. We have tried the cmd actions. We don't have the original disc if the mac came with one but we have the snow leopard upgrade disc. We can't get to an apple store with it so any ideas?

To restart with the SL Upgrade DVD, insert the disc into the SuperDrive and when you hear the startup tone hold down the Option key until you see the install dic and follow these directions:
Insert the Snow Leopard Install DVD into your Mac’s optical drive.
Once the Snow Leopard DVD mounts on the desktop, the Mac OS X Install DVD window should open. If it doesn’t, double-click the DVD icon on the desktop.
In the Mac OS X Install DVD window, double-click the ‘Install Mac OS X’ icon.
The Install Mac OS X window will open and present you with two options. You can continue with a standard upgrade installation, or use the utilities included on the install DVD. Click the ‘Utilities’ button.
The Snow Leopard installer will inform you that in order to use the supplied utilities, you will need to restart your Mac and boot from the DVD. Click the ‘Restart’ button.

  • Macbook stuck on apple screen / spinning wheel

macbook stuck on grey start up screen, with spinning whee, i have been surfing around all night looking for a fix - i tried to start it from the snow leopard dvd but after hearing internally try to load twice it just spits it out - i tried command+v and all the other things - any ideas what is wrong??????

Ok, I had this problem and it worked for me!!!
So switch the mac off, then switch it back on again but as soon as you have switched it on hold down the Apple cmd button + S, untill the booting screen comes up.
    Once that has loaded
    type:
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    then type:
    chmod 775 /
    then type:
    exit
this re-boots the mac. should work!!!
    hope it helps!

  • IPod stuck on Apple logo with loading bar that doesn't move.

My iPod won't turn on so i tried to factory reset it, and it is stuck on the apple logo with a loading bar that's empty and wont move. iTunes also says "Waiting for iPod." Help please!

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Grey start-up screen with status bar freezing and shutting down

    Hello
I have a 13.1 MBP running 10.8.1 that is about 18 months old and when starting it up, it makes the traditional apple "ding" and then starts up with the little spinning wheel.
Then the status bar appears reminicent of when you install a firmware update and after 23 seconds, the MBP competely shuts down.
I have reset the PRAM, tried to start up from the disc, tried to start in Safe Mode and everything in between.
Nothing seems to remedy the situation.
Any thoughts would be most helpful!
    Thanks!

Actually, you should hold the C key to start up from a Mac OS X install disk. Holding the D key boots into Apple Hardware Test (assuming you've got the right disc in). If both of those things fail, resulting in identical behavior, then it's likely to be a hardware issue.

  • How do i install snow leopard on a internal hard drive that was formatted for windows 7 in a i mac with out taking hard drive out im stuck on apple screen with start up disk in drive

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
    1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
      2. Restart the computer.
      3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
      4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple
          logo appears.
      5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
