MacBook stuck on startup screen. TRIED EVERYTHING PLEASE HELP!

My MacBook Pro takes around 10 minutes to start up, that is when it doesn't get stuck on the white loading screen. It's always running slow and many of my applications freeze. Less than 6 months ago I had to replace my hard drive so I'm annoyed that this is happening again. Currently it's not even starting up. Recovery mood isn't working either. Earlier today it kept restarting itself. It only stopped doing so once I removed my external speakers and USB. Usually, however, my mac is just faulty without these extra attachments. I feel like I've purchased one of the dodgiest MacBook Pros to have been manufactured. It has never functioned soundly and I'm really starting to detest this piece of machinery. My god.
I have tried starting up using command-R but doing so stops the apple logo from appearing. Nothing else works. Please help me! Also, during one of my reboots the apple logo momentarily morphed into a prohibitory sign...I'm convinced that my Mac's possessed.

What exact model MBP do you have?  What OSX is installed?
Ciao.
Have you considered an exorcist?

If you have tried everything, then by definition, there is nothing else to try.
Perhaps if you explained what you tried someone can help.
If you have actually tried everything, then there is nothing anyone can do to help.

The threads that people are posting to go back to the SAME 6 troubleshooting steps aren't really helping. ANYONE else had the same problem but was able to resolve?? A little desperate here!! HELP!!

  • Macbook stuck on startup when trying to restore from time machine

Recently, my MacBook Pro (running 10.6.3) crashed and when I tried to restart, it got stuck on the grey startup screen with the Apple logo with the spinning gear beneath it. I tried several times to start my Mac up, but each time it got stuck on that screen. I left it for an hour and came back with the same screen still up.
I then booted up off the install disc and used the disc utility to check my HDD status. It reported a fatal error in my HDD so I bought a new hard drive. After installing the new hard drive in my macbook, I once again booted up from the install disc and told it to restore my hard drive using my last time machine backup (which was created one day before the initial crash). Once again, the computer got stuck on the grey startup screen mentioned above.
I force-shutdown and started up again off the install disc. This time, I installed Snow Leopard fresh without any restoration from a previous backup and my computer started up just fine. Since then, I have tried numerous times to restore my machine from several time machine backups made in the last few weeks and each time, it stalls when I try to boot up. But each time I install Snow Leopard by itself, everything works normally.
What's going on in the time machine backup that is causing all of this? Is there some kind of startup routine that just gets stuck in a loop that I can delete from my time machine backup files? Please help!

    Two possible causes:
You used a Leopard install disk, instead of a +Snow Leopard+ one. All you needed to do was install Snow Leopard over it; but since you've now done other things, your best bet is to just do it over, using a Snow Leopard disc.
Whatever was going wrong with your internal HD damaged some things on your system, and that damage was backed-up, so is restored along with everything else. In that case, do it over, but select an earlier backup.

  • Macbook stuck on white screen with apple logo. help please

I have a macbook (black model) and while I was surfing on internet it is frozen. so I shut it down and restarted. When I restarted, it stuck on white screen with gray apple logo and seems like booting but nothing happens.
after that, I restarted again and put installation disc (leopard) without pressing any key and it opened normally. I backed up os with time machine but in one hour it is frozen again.
restarted again but this time it did not boot normally. so i tried booting from cd with c key, it opened installation screen. I have opened disk utility top repair disk, but when I click on disc image, repair / verify disk buttons are unavailable to click and S.M.A.R.T status is not supported.
After all, I tried to erase and install system several times, but after language section when I click agree to terms and conditions, mac freeze again.
So, I do not know what to do. Any help please?
Note: I already tried PRM and Safe Mode. (after safe mode it took me to installation screen again and nothing changed.)
Any help would be much appreciated!
Uptade: Also, opened system profiler and clicked on Serial-ATA, it seems loading but do not show any info. stucked again! help please

    HI,
*"I have opened disk utility top repair disk, but when I click on disc image, repair / verify disk buttons are unavailable to click and S.M.A.R.T status is not supported."*
You need to select "MacintoshHD 10.5.8 not "disc image" in order to run Disk Utility and Verify and if necessary, Repair the disk.
That's why you are seeing this dialog.
*are unavailable to click and S.M.A.R.T status is not supported.*
Also, run the Apple Hardware Test.

  • IMac really stuck at grey screen - tried everything

    Hi,
everytime I try to boot my iMac it gets stuck at the first grey screen. No logo, no loader, nothing but a grey screen.
I have tried everything here > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570 > with no results. The grey screen remains there, with no changes.
The only thing that seems to work, but only for a seconds, is holding the option (alt) key at startup. After a few seconds, the pointer of the mouse appears. And then, a few seconds later, it gets stuck too. That's the farthest I've managed to get.
I can insert and get install DVDs back, but they don't seem to load.
I've tried also DiskWarrior, with the same results.
    Any ideas?

Hey jflam sorry to hear that. I know how frustrating that can be. One thing that the article doesn't mention that I'd try is repairing the disk from single user mode.
Boot to single user mode by holding down command-S at startup.
-If it works right it should take you to a black screen w/ white letters.
-Then just follow the steps in from this website. http://homepage.mac.com/geerlingguy/mac_support/mac_help/pages/0009-fsck_su_disk _repair.html
-Make sure if it tells you the disk has been modified that you repeat the command.
-If it says it's ok or if you can't boot to single user mode then it sounds like a hardware problem. You'd have to take the computer into an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider to get your options on how to fix it.
    Best of luck!

  • Working ipad BUT black screen, have tried everything, please help

Please help. I have an ipad with a black screen. The screen works because when I reset by holding the buttons down for 10 seconds, it restarts and I can see the Apple logo. When I touch the screen, voice is on, if I try turning off the voice with 3 finger tap, the voice turns off but the screen is still blank. I have tried updatinf the ipad's software via ITunes, but that has not made a difference. I have also tried to restore from backup, but it wants my password and there is no way to input it with a blank screen!  I cannot think of anything else that I can do. I ipad clearly is working but without the screen showing I cannot seem to do anything?
    Advice appreciated.

I have solved this now by going into an Apple store.
They basically had to do a hard reset as they admitted their was some sort of software problem. They connected the ipad via Itunes, held the home and power button together for 8 seconds, then released the power button whilst still holding onto the the home button.
This then opens up various menu prompts on your PC/Mac to have a complete reload.
I am afraid to restore the ipad back from a previous version in case the problem happens again. At least it is working now though!

  • Screen wake up problem/ tried everything-please help!

I have had the my G2 since September and have absolutely loved it. A couple of weeks ago, it seemed to get a little "twitchy" with some erratic touch screen behavior (delayed responsiveness, over responsiveness, etc). Then, one day, the "knock on" (double tap to wake up phone) feature quit. Then numerous apps began not working correctly. I uninstalled the 2 apps that have been installed in the last couple months as well as a few others and the problem didn't change. Then, went to put the apps back on and the "install" button in play store is unresponsive. The rest of the screen works fine, just not that little button. Also, the screen that drops down to tell you the notifications on the top bar is super finicky all of a sudden. Checked all settings, tweaked settings, rebooted, Did a hard reboot, safe mode, and factory reset. No resolve. I am not a "heavy" user, only about 10 apps total installed on my phone in the 7 months I've had it. Frustration is  mounting and I really don't want to have to take it in. I've already lost all of the settings and everything I had to personalize my phone…Taking it in is last resort. Please Help!

Let's get your LG G2 back to like new condition jess28540! I had similar issues with mine and I resolved by doing a hard reset (I understand that you have done this) and removing an application that was causing my phone to act erratic. What I recommend is doing a hard reset http://vz.to/1bEaoQu (factory reset), then install your third party application one at a time and test for a few hours before installing another application. This process will assist you identifying conflicting applications, then remove them for good and you should be OK. Keep us posted.

I have a MacBook 10.5. Its a few years old anyway it seemed to be working fine up until a couple of weeks ago then it started taking ages to startup.

  • IPOD not being seen in ITunes...I have tried everything - please help!!

Okay, so I have tried everything listed on Apple's website to get my IPOD to be recognized in ITUNES. When I plug my IPOD into the USB port, the "do not disconnect" screen pops up. Nothing happens in ITUNES. Windows Vista pops up and says "Do you want me to scan and fix the IPOD F: drive?" Either selection doesn't do anything. I have tried the 5 R's from apple. I have tried to download every update available etc. I have tried to even go in and update the driver. However Vista is telling me that I have the most up to date version of everything. When my IPOD isn't connected to the PC, everything seems normal - except for the fact that there is no music or anything on it. But all menus are available and accessbile. Can anyone suggest what to do here? I am at a loss. Please help!! Thanks.

Yes, I'm having the same problem. If I connect my iPod to my laptop while iTunes is open, the 'Do not disconnect' sign appears, the battery does not charge, and my iPod doesn't appear either in iTunes or on my desktop. Since it doesn't appear in either of these places, I have to ignore the 'do not disconnect' sign and disconnect anyway. If I then reset my iPod, quite iTunes and reconnect iPod to laptop, everything's fine - iTunes opens, and recognizes the iPod. I guess this isn't the end of the world, since I can simply avoid ever connecting my iPod to my laptop while iTunes is open, but is this normal?

  • I have tried everything Please Help

Ok. Bentley. I have been surfing similiar threads on this
forum regarding issues with the flash player.
Here is my experience with trying to add flash player to my
    browser.
When I was browsing the web, websites that allowed video such
as ABC.com would give me this message.
"In order to view this video you must have Macromedia Flash
Player." This text was a link to the adobe download area for the
Flash Player. So I would follow the link to the Adobe site. Then
when I would accept the user terms and click on the Install Now
button on the page. The page would just refresh and not install
    anything.
So I searched the web for a different site to download the
player. I was able to find one and downloaded the player and
installed it. I restarted my PC and went back to ABC.com and it
gave me the same message i mentioned before. So I came on these
forums and I followed every possible solution mentioned and still
    no luck.
I have downloaded the uninstaller. Uninstalled and
    reinstalled. Nothing
I checked my registry and my registry matches exactly what
the screen shot shows for Windows XP Pro
    Active X controls are fine.
When I went to the test page at adobe.com it read that I have
Version 9,0,45,0 Installed Successfully but, still can not get any
    video.
    Please help! Thanks.

    vmontes16 ,
First of all, ABC.com isn't the best test site. They've
switched from standard Flash Player to a customized player created
by Move Networks (which, conincidentally is a division of
    Disney...)
This is a Flash Player detection issue usually caused by
    missing or locked registry keys..
Go follow the steps Darren wrote about in this thread:
    <
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=44&catid=184&threadid =1260151&enterthread=y>
Those usually resolve it.. In the next few weeks we expect to
have better tools available for diagnosing and resolving these
issues. In the meantime thanks for sticking with us.

  • ITunes will not install - have tried EVERYTHING - please help

I recently (yesterday) bought an iPod and yesterday installed the iPod and iTunes software on my computer, with absolutely no problems. Then today, when I tried to get onto the Music Store, I could not access it. (error -3212 was the number, I think...it's been a very long night). After searching a number of forums, I attempted to download the newer versions of iTunes and Quicktime; at the end of this attempted installation, I got the Microsoft message that iTunes "has encountered a serious problem and needs to close."
Now, several hours later, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software (with my antivirus software disabled), gone through two system restores (have gone back two days), done the Windows Installer cleanup thing, everything that I have read to do. I went into msconfig and the Quicktime doesn't even show up there. No luck, no luck at all...
My iPod is of absolutely no use to me without the iTunes. I have installed iTunes on a number of computers and have never encountered this problem. Please help!!
    Sincerely,
    LLM

    Hello
I just bought an Ipod as what tryingto get itunes to load for 5 hours last Friday night and another 4 hours on Saturday til my head exploaded
I then installed an older version of itunes and it worked but the new version didn't
In the end I re-installed XP home as a "repair" not clean install so that I wouldn't loose any work on my PC and within 40 minutes or so whatever was missing from my PC was installed and itunes 6 went on with no problem
My advise is don't go round the houses like I did, just "repair" your XP installation and it's done
Well, it did for me at least
    Hope this helps

  • B210 printer no longer scans or copies I have tried everything please help!

I do not copy or scan very often but today I tried to scan important documents and I no longer have the scanning or copying capability.  I can print perfectly from the computer.  I have tried everything (I believe) including reinstalling the software.  Can anyone please help.  I have important documents that needed to go out tonight.  Time is money.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi msiayoyo,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you are not able to scan or copy with your HP Photosmart B210a, you can print with no problems. Are you getting any error messages on the front panel when you attempt the copy or scan?
I know you have completed some troubleshooting already but I would like you to continue here: A 'Scanner Failure' Message Displays on the All-in-One Control Panel and You Cannot Scan, Copy, or F...
    A few tips:
    1. Try another wall outlet then the one you normally use, for testing purposes.
    2. Make sure you have no power bars or surge protectors as they can cause the printer to lose basic functionality over time, plug the printer directly into the outlet.
    3. Try to make a copy from the front panel, what happens?
If you are still not able to make a copy after ALL the troubleshooting has been done, it is more than likely the printer hardware.
