Macbook stuck on windows install screen?

i was doing bootcamp on my macbook pro 2010 edition ..It reached in the install page. I clicked install .
.It was going well suddenly it stoped on 71% on expanding windows and message came .Windows cannnot install required files.the file maybe corrupt or missing error code 0x80070017..now i dont know what to do whn i restart it starts from a black page which says boot from cd or dvd ..i dont know how to get back to my mac osx..plzz  also tell a way to install the file also..

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use BootCamp. There's a BootCamp Support Community where everybody uses BootCamp. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Macbook stuck at the startup screen

Yesterday I was prompted to install updates on my macbook. After the updates were installed I was told to restart the computer. Once it restarted, it was stuck on the grey startup screen. I let it sit for hours because I thought it was loading. It never went past that screen so I shut it off. This morning I turned it back on and it is stuck at the same screen. What is wrong? and what should I do?

    Hi Justin,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Insert the first of the two disks that came with your Mac. Restart the computer while holding down the C key. This will boot off the DVD. When it's booted, choose "Disk Utility" from the menubar at the top of the screen. Select your hard disk in the left pane of the window and click the Repair button.
After the repair process is complete, reboot the Mac normally and see if it starts up off your hard disk. If not, try booting in safe mode. To do so, hold down the Shift key as you turn the computer on and continue holding it until you see the spinning gear below the Apple logo. If the computer boots in safe mode, restart and see if it then boots normally.

  • Mac Mini stuck with windows install, won't boot from OSX DVD

Ok, I just bought this mac mini from ebay, yeah i know but it was cheap. I got it and it came with windows xp installed. I thought ok, I will just pop in my snow leopard disk and get rid of windows. so i put in retail new copy of snow leopard in the drive, shutdown, power on, hold C... grey screen for a little while then into windows boot screen. Thought ok, I will try reset pram, option + command + p + r, nothing... just boots into windows. I have tried to original osx 10.4 restore disks that came with the machine with the same results. I also tried holdind D during boot with the original disks and it still does the same thing.
I have also tried holding down option during boot, thinking it would give me my boot options, nothing still goes into windows. I am using a new aluminum white keyed usb apple keyboard and apple optical mouse, all plugged into the back of the machine.
I don't know what to do next, if I can't find the solution it looks like i am going to have to take this thing apart and yank the drive and format it on my other machine with osx partition.
    thanks

There's a couple more options yet.
First, try a different USB keyboard.
Second, when in Windows use the Bootcamp system tray utility to choose bootup from the OSX partition. You can install the Bootcamp system tray utility from the SL disk.
Third, if you have another Mac and an appropriate firewire cable, bring the Mini up in Target Disk Mode and blat the disk that way.

  • Macbook stuck on white startup screen

    Good Afternoon,
Yesterday evening I was running Pages, suddenly everything went stuck and I had the "rainbow wheel". It was an important file so I just wanted to wait untill it was fixed again. Waiting for 1 hour without any solution, then I decided to force my macbook out(held the power button for 5 seconds).
It felt like my macbook was overheat so I waited for a few hours to turn it back on. When I actually turned it on, you heard the noice "bzztbzzt, tuduuum" but then nothing happens, only the white screen shows up, Ive waited for hours and hours to see if anything would happen, I've googled the problem and i've tried (i guess) all the combinations with starting up. It still stucks on the white screen.
I've decided to run the battery empty and waited all night, when I woke up this morning I tried to turn it on again, nothing happend, just the white screen.
Im desperate and YES I know there are more topic about this, but couldn't find the answer!
Also my macbook is not just "silence" at the white screen, sometimes the processor is working hard, also the macbook is getting extremely warm.
One more note, This happend to me before, but then 2 hours later it was fixed, so I hoped that would work this time again, but unfortunatley.
All idea's are welcome and ill try them!
    Greetings,
    Rinke

  • Computer stuck on Windows loading screen

I did a recent windows update earlier today and had a sudden reboot of my computer. Now I cannot get past the windows loading screen on Windows 7. I can only use the pc on safe mode. Sadly System restore is not turned on and cannot be turned on in safe mode and OneKEY Recovery says driver not initilizied.
Is there a way to fix this problem?
    THanks

    Welcome to the forums!
When you open windows update look for the date on which you installed those patches and un-install them..does that help?
    Cheers and regards,

  • MacBook Stuck in Startup Blue Screen, HDD is Spinning

Well, I fear the worst has occurred to my mid 07 Macbook.
When I boot up the machine, it stays stuck in the blue screen start up, not able to find any startup disc. I gave a listen to the HDD and it is spinning when I try starting up. So this would mean a system failure, however I have had the motherboard replaced twice this year. Is the motherboard/system most liekly the issue?

This has nothing to do with with iPhoto - post in the MacBook Forum - http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=218

  • Stuck at windows splash screen

    I am having a problem with my laptop not booting. My laptop was running really slow so I closed out what I was doing and told the computer to restart. After it shut down it rebooted but now it won't go past the windows splash screen. When I run the HP diagnostics I get the following;
    Memory test: passed
    SMART check: passed
    Short DST: failed
    Failure ID : GGE38C-62C77D-QFPK01-60W603
    PRODUCT ID : A6X01UA#ABA
    HARD DISK 1
Any suggestions? I have some very important files on this hard drive that I don't have backed up unfortunately. When I go to do a restore it gives me the option to back up my files and shows there are files in my libraries so hopefully when I get a portable hard drive in the next day or 2 I can make my back up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
    Brian

No one has any suggestions? Is there a place I can look up the code myself? I haven't been able to find anything yet.

  • MacBook stuck at grey apple screen with spinning logo

I have a 2010 White MacBook that is stuck at the grey apple screen with a spinning logo. This seems to have happened after I installed the newest version of iTunes. The system slowed down a lot and when I ran the system monitor It said all of the memory was being used up. I had to force shut down by holding the power key. Upon reboot, I got the grey apple logo screen, a spinning wheel, and a progress bar. The progress bar gets about a quarter of the way and disappears. The spinning wheel remains. Initially, I let it run for awhile. Nothing different happened. I took off the Mac jack adaptor, and replaced the battery. Nothing happened. I kept trying to start it up and one time it worked. I backed up my files to two external hds via time machine.
Upon the next boot, i have been stuck at the grey apple logo screen, spinning wheel, and progress bar. Each time the progress bar remains and then disappears after going about a quarter of the way. I have tried cmd-D, cmd-s,cmd-opt-p-r, cmd-v but I don't think any of those work (I don't know of i'm doing them right) . It just stays on the grey apple logo screen. I tried using the option button at the startup and it goes to a lock screen. I typed in the administrator name. That didn't work. I tried the apple password. That didn't work. I tried every password that I know. None work.
What can I do to fix this?
    Thank you.

See if this Apple note will help. When it gets to Disk Utility, boot holding the command and r keys down so you get into recovery mode, and run Disk Utility from there. Assume you have OS X 10.7 or later. If you're still on OS X 10.6, then follow directions to boot off the OS X DVD sent with your system or a retail OS X 10.6 DVD.

  • Macbook stuck at grey apple screen, spinning wheel

when i start up my mac it gets stuck at this screen, but if i boot up in windows it works perfectly fine, so i figure it must be a software issue, what should i do?
would upgrading resolve the issue if nothing else works?
I tried holding down shift during startup and that didnt change anything

Reinstall OS X. You may have success with this:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • Macbook Stuck at Blue Startup Screen

I have a plain macbook, a little over a year old. It was running slow, so I restarted the laptop. When it restarted, the computer froze at the blue startup screen. On another forum, I read that Repairing the disk permission would help, I did that using the disk that came with the laptop, but I'm not sure what to do after that has been completed, I tried restarted once more, and the same problem occured, and I don't want to re-install snow leopard. Also I can't get the disk to eject either. Does anyone know how I could fix this problem?

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
      /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.
    Reinstall OS X:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

  • G570 gets stuck on windows startup screen, removing battery allows boot up.

    Hi,
I have a G570 i5 with 640GB and 4GB ram, it has been working fine up until one month ago. Now for some reason it sometimes get stuck at the windows start up screen. There it sits and never gets any further. I can reboot multiple times with the same effect, then suddenly the Laptop works again, runs and boots fine for a few days until the next random stop.
I have tried the folowing things:
Operating system re-install. No difference, still happens.
    System restore. No differnece.
Changing Bios systtings for USB and Disk systems
    Virus checked
checked memory and Hard disk drive
    Fixed master boot reccord.
The only thing that seems to work is: when the stop happens, shut down laptop. Remove battery. Reboot using mains. This works until the next time, when I then have to put the battery back in.
Any ideas as to what causes this or why it happens? It's driving me crazy as I'm trying to do a dissertation!! When the computer runs it runs well.

  • MacBook stuck on opening White screen- help!

My MacBook recently froze while I was using it, so I shut it down by pressing down the power button. Ever since then, whenever I turn it on, it gets stuck on the opening White screen with the apple logo on. I ran a hardware test which said that there was nothing wrong with the hardware, and when I tried to run a disk utility test as advised by the manual, nothing would load on it. If anyone can advise me on what to try next or how to resolve this problem, I'd really appreciate it!

Are you saying the hard drive does not appear in Disk Utility?  If so then the hard drive has failed.  Otherwise do this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.
Reinstall OS X.  This will not erase the hard drive.

  • Macbook stuck on reset password screen

hi all - I just restarted my MacBook Pro (just because I thought I hadn't done it in a while) and it looks like it somehow started up in a safe mode and I'm seeing a "Reset Password" grey screen with options to "choose the problem you are having when logging in" and with 3 options.  It doesn't recognize my keyboard strokes - nothing works.  My mouse is moving, so it isn't stuck - it just wont let me press enter or press any radio button.  I have tried to restart in safe mode and also a systems recovery mode (the control R) and everything brings me back to this page where I can't do anything.  Thoughts?

See this Apple note on steps to take.
