Macbook takes longer time to launch & log in after 10.6.4 update
After 10.6.4 update,
my macbook took quite a long time to launch the log-in screen page.
Not only that, upon logging in, the dock, icons & toolbars took long than usual to appear as well.
Though, it's just a minor problem, but anyone else is experiencing this problem?
I have experienced slow loading time even after a reboot with 10.6.4.
Additionally, Flash programs are not loading in my Safari 5; experienced problems accessing my new phone upgrade options on the Verizon wireless website and some games will not load.
Also when I mouse over drop down menus on the Verizon wireless website, the screen appears to bulge before returning to a "normal" view.
I'm ready to backtrack to 10.6.3 and Safari 4!!!

Form takes long time to Launch
The from "Find Invoice Distributions" under Payables Inquiry is taking inordinate amount of time in launching/getting back for Type = Expense and any specific GL Batch Name.
Does any know what could be causing this?
Thanks,Thanks Murali.
One thing I have been able to find out so far is that the query behind the form (for a valid combination of values) is a monster. I am trying to get apps dba help to get the SQL Advice in order to tune the query, potentially adding indexes whereever necessary.

Lion takes long time to find free space after emptying trash
After emptying the trash, I've noticed that Lion does not see the additional free space until after doing a reboot, and even after that it takes a long time for it to find all the new free space. Anybody know what's wrong with the trash system?
Absolutely nothing is wrong with it. See Missing disk space in Lion.

My macbook air takes longer time to shut down even after having 32GB of free space in it.
Please give me solution fast.
And that's tested with your Mac? That's fast (I only get about 23Mbps with my ISP!).
You should have no trouble with slow page loading. You might want to change your DNS's through the Network panel in System Preferences. I would try the OpenDNS servers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
If that doesn't help, call back...

The Application Takes long time to Start
Hello All,
We ar eon Unix->64 Bit-> Essbase 11.1.1.3.
Problem Description : The application is taking long to start up. around 5 to 6 minutes. This is very first time it is happening.
There were no specific changes done to the application in the recent releases.
I have tried all options 1. Compacating outline, 2. Purging the application log etc. all other applications respond good on this host except this. Usually any application should not take more than 1 to 2 minutes to start up.
There are no specific errors or XCP files recorded in the logs and folders.
Appreciate your suggestions
MSThanks Jitendra and Prabhas,
I know i have posted this thread sometime back and later I had to jump on a New release, so did not get time to check your inputs.
Well I am back on this issue again. I have been working on various option to get this issues solved " start of App takes long time"
Here are some Details. We are on SunOs 64 Bit, has 12CU with dual core, with Essbase 11.1.1.3 running on it. This is an ASO application and has just 7 dimensions, Out of which the ORGANIZATION Dimension is pretty huge with Multiple Hierarchies enabled ( Both Stored and Dynamic ) and has more than 20,00,000 members including the alternate hierarchies ( Shared members)
I did a smoke test by building dimension by dimension the app was startiung up in just *40* seconds. and when i reached the ORG dimension and added more than 70,000 memebrs . there i fall sick. the app now gets back to its old issue ( Takes more than 10 mainutes to start).
CPU Usage ranges between 3.1 % to 4 %
PID USER NLWP PRI NI VSZ RSS S STIME ELAPSED %CPU COMMAND

But My question here is, in the last moth cube i still similar number of members in the cube and nothing really had changed.
Essbase GURU's Please give me some Hint to think out of box now.

Takes Long time for Data Loading.
Hi All,
Good Morning.. I am new to SDN.
Currently i am using the datasource 0CRM_SRV_PROCESS_H and it contains 225 fields. Currently i am using around 40 fields in my report.
Can i hide the remaining fields in the datasource level itself (TCODE : RSA6)
Currently data loading takes more time to load the data from PSA to ODS (ODS 1).
And also right now i am pulling some data from another ODS(ODS 2)(LookUP). It takes long time to update the data in Active data table of the ODS.
Can you please suggest how to improve the performance of dataloading on this Case.
Thanks & Regards,
Siva.Hi....
Yes...u can hide..........just Check the hide box for those fields.......R u in BI 7.0 or BW...........whatever ........is the no of records is huge?
If so u can split the records and execute............I mean use the same IP...........just execute it with different selections.........
Check in ST04............is there are any locks or lockwaits..........if so...........Go to SM37 >> Check whether any Long running job is there or not.........then check whether that job is progressing or not............double click on the Job >> From the Job details copy the PID..............go to ST04 .....expand the node............and check whether u r able to find that PID there or not.........
Also check System log in SM21............and shortdumps in ST04........
Now to improve performance...........u can try to increase the virtual memory or servers.........if possiblr........it will increase the number of work process..........since if many jobs run at a time .then there will be no free Work prrocesses to proceed........

In P6 8.4 web client for loading Resource page takes long time
As per tested configuration of P6 EPPM 8.4 we are using IE 9 and JRE 1.7.0.67.
I had checked RAM and its utilization is Max 40%, CPU usage is also very less.
Enough disk space is also avaliable (70% avaliable).
Enteries in resources are also very few just 20 numbers.
Project page is loading normally. But for loading resource page it pause for almost 15-20 seconds.
Last week i had faced issue that application freezes while loading resource page so i had restarted application and it was working.
May i know, what will be reason to take long time to load resorce page and possible solution.I am attching java console tracer log for while loading resource page..
please check.

Takes long time for shutdown after adding to domain
Hi,
Workstation OS - Window 7
Domain Controller OS - Window server 2008 R2 standard
Following thing i have measure with Stopwatch.
1) When the laptop is in workgroup, it takes just 17 second for shutdown.
2) when i added the same laptop in domain ( corp.abc.com ), now it takes 1minutes and 22 second for shutdown. ( it just show shutting down screen )
Why the shutdown time increased so much?
Do you have any idea?
Note:- i have not make any changes in laptop, nor added any software. I have done the above testing because user start complaining that after putting laptop in domain it takes long time for shutdown. It's happening to all laptop where the OS is window 7
There is no logoff scripts / gpo's as well as we don't have roaming profiles.
Please advice.
Thanks & Regards,
Param
www.paramgupta.blogspot.comHi,
To troubleshooting this issue, please install Windows Performance Tools (WPT) Kit. The Windows Performance Tools (WPT) Kit contains performance analysis tools, and is designed for analysis of a wide range of performance problems including application start
times, boot issues, deferred procedure calls and interrupt activity (DPCs and ISRs), system responsiveness issues, application resource usage, and interrupt storms.
To get the installer, you have to install the Windows 7 SDK.
Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3138
For shutdown tracing:
Run command:
xbootmgr -trace shutdown -noPrepReboot -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -resultPath C:\TEMP
Collect logs and post them for further troubleshooting.

Runbook takes long time to complete
Hi,
I created a customized flow to get the data from MS SQL. The runbook is working fine but it takes long time to complete. Is there any option to increase speed or something like that..?
Regards,
Soundarajan. If you look on the Log tab you can see which activity that took the longest. What does you runbook looks like? If you have for example a Run .NET script activity you can do some tuning on the runbook server. But I think a good start is to share a
figure of your runbook.

The minor collections go perfect.
The first full GC in this piece of log takes 1,36s, and the old generation passes from 1922156K->635750K
But the second full GC (1 hour later) blocks the server for 155.39s, and the old generation pases from 2383460K->536034K
The server load between execution of full GC was similar. Any differences I saw in this two moments:
first full gc: number of Tomcat http threads : 230. The full gc provokes that Tomcat start new threads until get 500 (maxThreads)
second full gc: number of Tomcat http threads : 500.
I'm not an expert in tunning jvm. If somebody could help me, these pauses are killing the app and it's unacceptable for my client (for 2 min. the app does not work).
If you need more information (threads stack, histograms, ... I have ...)
Maybe I need to reduce the size of the old generation? Or change the garbage collector for old generation? The server cpu is going well, I prefer to consume more cpu in gc and avoid this pauses.
Any help will be very very appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Joan.Hello,

When a "bad" full GC occurs, I can see that just before it the minor collections start to perform bad. Normal values for minor collections are 0,0x seconds, and before a "bad" full GC these minor collections take seconds (1, 2, ... up to 5 seconds).
I can show an histogram of the first 25 entries before and after the full GC:

Could this the cause of the full GC that takes long time?

he advises restarting by inserting the OSX disc and pressing down the C button to reboot from there then selecting disk utility, hard disk and repair.... Does he mean me to hold down the C key on the alpha keyboard or the ctrl key?
Should I just ask for my money back??? If it is a simple repair do I just literally push the disc in, push the power button and hold down the C button?
That's where I would begin, too, with
Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.TStatus of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it saysanything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need touse autility like TechTool Pro,Drive Geniusor DiskWarrior
First we need to determine if the issue you are experiencing with the computer is software or hardware based. Once we have gotten things sorted out there should be time enough to make you decision about keeping or returning it.

What could be the reason for Crawl process to take long time or get in to a hung state.
Hi All,
What could be the reason for Crawl process to take long time or get in to a hung state? Is it something also related to the DB Server resources crunch? Does this lead to Index file corruption?
What should be the process to be followed when index file is corrupted? How do we come to know about that?
Thanks in Advance."The crawl time depends on what you are crawling -- the number of items, the size of the items, the location of the items. If you have a lot of content that needs to be crawled, it will take much time".

SL takes longer time to start up and shut down after "IceClean".
Greetings,
After "IceClean" (both maintenance and cleanup), SL seems (obviously) to take longer time to start up and shut down.
Any idea why and how can I resolve it?
Thank you so much.
Cheers.Hi,
I've finally able to solve the problem. The problem was due to start up item. There were 2 trial application (expired long ago) in the folder. After clearing the application, start up and shut down are fast as light.
I think I've "awaken" the start up application after "IceClean" as IceClean has deleted their log file or something like that and therefore the applications have to run again.
In order to be fair to IceClean, it is my fault to be blamed.
Thanks again.
Cheers
