Macbook the display is off centre

This only happens when I open the mac, on the lock screen. Once I've entered my password and use the mac it's OK.
Anyone know what caused this and how to fix it?
Cheers

Try SMC and NVRAM resets:

Does this happen still when you use another set of headphones? Have you check to make sure the headphone jack is clean and clear of debris?  If so, the jack may be faulty or damaged meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service/repair.

  • Sattelite 1800-752S - the display goes off

    Hi everybody.
    I have a satellite 1800-752S.
SInce a ew months ithas a wierd problem: the display goes off. If i press and quickly release the lid button it comes back on, but after that goes off again. SOmetimes ot goes off immediately, sometimes after a few minutes, or even hours. SOmetimes it keeps being on when I am running from battery, and annoys me on AC, sometimes the versus. It works quite well, after I turn it to standby or hibernate a few times, and after a restart it annoys me.I have updated its BIOS to the lates from this site, that wouldn't help. I assume it is a hardware problem, because it is the same problem under Linux, and I have tried to install different verisons of drivers and Windows (not only the one from the Recovery CD). Did anyone have the same problem before. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot
    Roman

    Hi,
I think you are right, it's a hardware problem. But to be sure, try to connect an external monitor. If it works without problems while the notebooks display goes off, then it must be a hardware fault.
I assume it's a problem with the FL-inverter. You have to give your mashine to a Toshiba service partner for repair.
    Bye

  • Problem of the anti-glare coating on 15" Macbook Pro display peeling off?

Hi, bought my Macbook Pro 15" with Retina display about a year ago. Recently discovered the anti-glare coating peeling off, leaving ugly 'bald' spots on the screen bezel sides (thankfully, not in the main display area!). Only use the provided polishing cloth to clean the screen of any fingerprints, etc. Once in a while, I do wet the cloth with a drop or two of water to get rid of more stubborn marks. I've stopped cleaning the screen with the cloth.
Anyone else faced the same problem? How did you resolve it?

Same problem here with a 2013 MBP 13''.
Seems to be common and might be covered by warranty: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1729779

  • How do I restore a MBA with a broken screen if the display turns off during the restart?

I have a MBA running OSx 10.7.5.  The monitor is broken; can't see anything.  I'm attempting to restore it completely, but every time I go to restart it, the VGA connected secondary display goes black.  Any ideas? Do I need to buy another cable or is there another way?

You can go to Settings>General>Auto-Lock and switch it to "Never"
Of course this will keep your screen active and never lock your phone, but it will be using battery more.
You can still lock the phone yourself in the normal way (Hold the Sleep button)

  • My MBP doesn't go to sleep, only turns off the display

So I recently upgraded to 10.9.2 from 10.6.8. I have MacBook Pro mid 2010. I used to use InsomniaX to disable sleep when my lid was closed. It worked great, I could disable it anytime. Now after upgrading OS X I had to upgrade to newest InsomniaX so it worked. It use to work good, but when I wanted to disable it and have my MBP go to sleep I sometimes had issues.
Decided to uninstall it completely and try other apps - I installed NoSleep, but noticed that when I disable it then it won't go fully sleep.
Instead it just turns off the display and keyboard backlights, I hear my fans going.
I tried to uninstall everything completely - from any traces of InsomniaX, and as well NoSleep. I did try to reset SMC and PRAM. Now when I close the lid or go to apple menu and chose Sleep - I still can hear the fans going, the display is off, the light on the right side of the MacBook case is turned on (instead of flashing, like it used to when it slept) - dimmed when I Sleep via Apple menu, bright when I close the lid.
What can I do to somehow revert to the default setting so my MBP can go to sleep?

    OK I solved it.
    I followed instructions from http://superuser.com/questions/214943/what-is-preventing-my-macbook-from-sleepin g/409481/
Go to Utilities in the Applications folder and open the "Terminal" app.
Type pmset -g and hit Enter
If "sleep" has 0 next to it and the words "imposed by" or "prevented by ; The number next to the imposed by is the process ID causing the problem. Copy that number.
Type ps -e | grep <process ID here> and hit Enter. This will list all running processes that have that ID (will also include the grep process)
For me it turned out to be Internet Sharing enabled that prevented my MBP from sleeping.

  • Turning off Macbook Air Display when using External Display on Lion

I had been searching the web and the community forums here for a few hours and finally figured out how to turn off the display on my Macbook Air 2011 running lion and using an external monitor.
With Snow Leopard all you had to do was plug in the external monitor to your MBA then close the lid and wake up the MBA while it was closed. Then you could open up the lid and it would stay off so it would have better air flow and wouldn't get too hot and run the fan all the time.
But ever since Lion, they screwed that up for us.
But after all my searching I finally found someone here give the fix on a MBA.
All you need to do is use a little magnet and put it where the MBA
Special thanks to ronaldfromjakarta and wv636 for giving the answers and workaround until Apple fixes this oversight
"I found a solution for this.. my solution is to put a fridge magnet directly right to the return key (about 2 cm away from the right usb port)... so the laptop thinks the lid is closed and so the display is off.. lol.. try it.. it works.."
You can read more about others using this here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3192733?start=0&tstart=0
In this example I used a big yellow magnet just to test it out, but I will be using a small thin magnet for regular use so that it wont mess up my screen if I accidentally close the lid on it.
Also I put a small piece of paper between the magnet and my MBA so that I wont scratch my MBA.
Some will also ask if it is safe to use a magnet on your MBA etc. You are only placing a magnet where the magnet from the lid would go anyway's. Just make sure you don't use a super magnet or something and you should be all good ;-)
    Here are the image examples:
    MBA is powered on
    MBA is now asleep
Just place the magnet right next to the "Enter/ Return" key
(Note: I used a small piece of paper under the magnet to protect from scratching my MBA)

  • Macbook pro 15" and 17" display turns off whilst working then.......

I have 2 macbook pros. One 17" and the other 15" both are the non unibody ones. The 15" had this problem a while ago but my 17" never did it until today and then it did about 5 mins ago.
Whilst I am working (never seems to happen when I am not using it) the display turns off whilst working. The power light remains constant (ie:- not fading in and out when asleep). But here is the strangest thing. The mac repetitively makes the same noise as if it was ejecting a disk. Has anybody else had this? Know a cure? I recently upgraded to snow leopard but don't think this is a software issue.

I got the same problem with mine, 15". I bought it refurbished from apple store. I had this problem when i bought it then nothing happened for 4 months. But now my MBP has started doing it again. And i don't think it's a software issue. My display switch on after few sec, or 1-2 mins it's depends, and it's pretty random. i'm a bit of worry

  • Macbook display turns off when booting Snow Leopard DVD

I have mid-2009 Macbook Pro and I hate Mountain Lion. I want to do a clean install of Leopard using the DVD (grey) that came with my computer. I loaned it to a friend recently and he had no issues. But everytime i try to boot from the SL DVD (hold C at startup) it behaves normally, until about the time it would go into the DVD startup screen. At that point the display turns off (not the whole computer, just the display) as if it has gone to sleep. And I can't get it to turn on again. I've also tried booting and holding Option and choosing the DVD as the boot drive. No dice.
Awhile back I created a Lion install DVD. I can boot to it just fine. But i don't want Lion either. Any ideas why this is happening?  Thanks!

Press control shift eject, then any key to toggle the display from sleep/wake.

  • MacBook Pro 15' Core i7 Running Boot Camp Turns on in OSX fine, but in windows, whenever plug it in, the display goes black.

I have a 2011 MBP 15'. It has a core i7 2.4GHz 8gb of ram, and a HD 6750m. I rarely use Lion, I use Windows 7 Enterprise. I boot up my laptop and it turns on fine. Windows loads, but as soon as I plug the MagSafe adapter into the laptop, the display turns off.
Any ideas? I have already reset the SMC, and reset the PRAM and NVRAM. Neither worked.

Since you have a Mid2014 MBP, the USB should contain the Windows installer and BC drivers. Make sure your USB is a USB2 flash drive/disk. USB3 will fail.
There should be no hubs between the USB and the MBP and no other external peripherals connected to the Mac.
However at the last step when I click the "Install" button, my computer will restart and boot into OSX.
This indicates that the Mac cannot find the USB with Windows ISO and BC drivers.

I have a hp stream 7 that is connected via bluetooth to my loudspeakers.

The microsoft music player that is on the tiles metro section of windows supports music playback when the connected standby is activated. Unfortunatly if you are looking to go any further than this you will need to change over all your power control settings to that of a laptop.
