Macbook to apple tv viewing
i have a macbook pro (2011 model) and want to be able to watch what is on my laptop on my tv through my apple tv. My sister's macbook air lets her do this. I want to do the same. please help

Playing dvd's on my laptop works but not with the apple tv viewer. What's going on?
My macbook pro with retina display works great when viewing dvd's with a usb DVD drive. As soon as I connect to the Apple Tv viewer the screen goes grey on my lap top and on my tv. What's going on?
if it worked it would be breaking the law
dvd's and blueray for that matter have an encryption which airplay would have to remove for it to work and thats not legal
to do some people report that some version of the vlc player works with airplay but that would mean they break the encryption before displaying it on the mac screen and as such break the law -

You don't use Airplay. You set up Home Sharing on both and under the Computers section of AppleTV you'll then find it under Movies (or Rentals if rented), assuming it's in a compatible format.

If you dont have none option then you must own itunes some money. So you have to enter the payment like a itunes giftcard. you can contact itunes by email by going to expresslane.apple.com

How do i get air play to work from my macbook to apple tv? It does work with some programs like itunes but I can't get it to work with safari.
apple tv does not work in safari. there is no web browsing capabilities on the apple tv..
however what you are probably referring to is mirroring? iPad 2 and iPhone 4s have mirroring capabilities, so what you have on the screen is exactly what would appear in the apple tv..
on ipad for example...ignore the settings page. Instead, go to the iPod controls. Double-press your home button to see the multitasking bar, showing all your recent apps. Swipe your finger from right to left for the mirroring icon; you'll see the AirPlay icon. Tap on that, select your Apple TV and toggle the mirror button to 'on'. -
hi even when i connect my macbook and apple tv to the same wifi network i cant put on the air play mirroring option.my airplay mirroring option does not detect any device.what can i do for this?

My iPad, Macbook and Apple TV are all set up with the same iCloud email address. I bought the iPhone 6 and accidentally set the iCloud up with a different email. My phone will not let me change the email address to be the same as my other devices, it tells me that email is already being used. How do I delete the iPhones iCloud account and reinstall it to match my other devices.

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here.
If it was an audiobook then they are one-time only downloads, to get it on your other devices you need to sync it to them and not re-download it oneach. Great question! You can absolutely do this in OS X 10.9. The attached article explains how the process of using AirPlay with Apple TV to create a second display. Also, towards the bottom of the article there are instructions on how to set your Displays preferences on the computer to make sure the TV and MacBook Pro displays are set up the way you want them to be.
