MacBook to HDMI

I'm probably going to purchase a MacBook and I want to connect it to my HD plasma but i've only got hdmi ports or an RGB port (Which my mini runs through) anyway to connect a MacBook to HDMI i need:
Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/6264003/wo/lU3wr vmV8H5F3E5RIvc1zzzQALV/1.0.19.1.0.8.25.7.11.2.3
-AND:
DVI to HDMI Cable:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/6374001/wo/033cn VZqMqxS2lqUdGCYlGC3xJG/1.0.19.1.0.8.25.7.11.0.3
Is that right? the signal is still all digtial and i get maximum resoultion?

Hopefully you haven't ordered that cable yet...I found a $6 DVI to HDMI cable. I can't find my receipt to see where I got it from though. If I find it, i'll post it here. Do some google searching and find a better price than that from Apple.
I have mine hooked up from my mac mini to my TV. It works perfect.
edit: Here it is..it's actually cheaper than I remembered: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?cid=102&cp_id=10231&cs_id=1023103&pid=2404&seq=1&format=2&style=

Could you please resolve this problem,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Simply take it to an Apple Store or reseller if it's in warranty. Your Mac will be repaired or replaced for free because it looks a hardware problem rather than a software issue.
If it's not in warranty, hold Command and R keys while your MacBook is starting up, and reinstall OS X. If it doesn't work, you can't do much more to solve the problem

  • Trying to see screen from 13 macbook with hdmi on Tv

  • Mid 2010 Macbook Pro HDMI

Since updating my Mid 2010 Macbook Pro to OSX 10.9.1, connecting it to my TV has been hit and miss via an HDMI cable. When plugging the cable in, the Macbook screen flashes black as it would be ready to mirror the image but it does not send a signal to my TV nor show the mirroring icon at the top of the screen. The issue has been hit and miss and now will not work no matter how I try to connect the cable. Any suggestions? Is this a known issue with Mavericks?

Check that your model supports audio over mini-displayport, not all of them do:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241
If you're sure it does, then check you have the correct output selected.  Hold down the option key while you click the speaker icon in the menu bar.  You can select the output device there.
If still not working, click the Apple icon on the left of the menu bar and select 'Software Update' and make sure your system is up to date.
If still not working try resetting the PRAM first, and if still not working reset the SMC:

  • 13" Macbook + DVI-HDMI + HDTV Problem

    Hello,
I recently bought myself a 13" macbook, which I'm now in love with!
so here's my question, I have a Mini Dvi to Dvi Adaptor hooked up to my macbook and a DVI to HDMI cable running to my HDTV (32") into the HDMI Input (on the tv.) When I goto plug it in ( either tv first or macbook first) My macbook screen turns to this hazy blue screen (looks just like the boot up screen) and Then my macbook freezes up. I've tried shutting down my macbook plugging everything in and then booting up, but still no luck it does the same thing. I just got my mac on sunday straight from apple.com .
any suggestion? I've heard this is a typical issue.
    Thanks
    Aj

no luck, I made sure the cables were super tight and plugged in properly. my tv says "no signal"
and my macbook freezes up with the blue screen.
This time I tried it two different ways, I shut down my mac book and made sure my tv was off. Turned on my tv switched it to HDMI IMPUT 1 and tightly plugged in my cables. then turned on my macbook.
After seeing the booting screen ( little apple picture and music) a light blue screen (that normally appears durning booting) appears and it freezes on that blue screen. then I tried leaving my mac book on and tv turned on to HDMI Input one and plugging it in, this time I'm able to see my desktop ( on my mac book, tv still says no signal) and I get this fogginess that appears over the screen. I can move my mouse but everything else will not respond.
any help or suggestion would be super!
    Thanks guys (and or gals)

  • Macbook to HDMI TV

I have a MacBook 13" Intel. I want to connect it to a 37 inch HDMI LCD so as to use Front Row on the bigger screen. What cable type connectors do i need. Thanks

You will need to purchase a mini DVI to HDMI cable, or a mini DVI to standard DVI then connect another cable DVI to HDMI so it connects to the TV.
If you want the sound to come through the TV make sure your TV has a dedicated sound input associated with one of the HDMI inputs, as the DVI cable does not carry the audio through it (HDMI to HDMI does).
Alternatly, you could take the digital sound from the Macbook using the dedicated port and connect it into a 5.1 surround system. Though you would only recieve true 5.1 if the content you where watching was encoded with surround.
    http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/shopmac/macaccessories/cables?mco=MjQzMTY
You could also connect the Macbook to the TV using a mini DVI to VGA if your TV has that connection on it. Be careful to look at the supported resolutions on the TV when using VGA as you might not be able to fill the whole TV screen with your Macbooks output (1:1 pixel mapping)
I hope this points you in the right direction.

  • 2009 Macbook to HDMI: Low quality/blurry video

I have a Macbook Pro from mid-2009, Apple's Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter, and a VGA Adapter to HDMI cable. My computer connects to the HDMI input on my TV just fine, but when I try to show a video that has been downloaded to my computer on the other display, the resolution of the video is good, but the video is not clear- the frames don't change quickly enough, even though it is set at 60 HZ. Will downloading Mountain Lion fix the solution? Or is my computer just too old? I've tried the same cables with my friend's 2011 or 2012 Macbook Air and the video on the display is seamless. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Connect macBook to HDMI TV

Starburst background displays on HDMI TV but not any applications (Safari, files, other programs)

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
HDMI will be better than VGA because VGA is analog and HDMI is digital. If you have an aluminum MacBook, it has a mini-DisplayPort plug. You can buy an Apple (or third party) mini-DisplayPort to DVI adapter and then find an HDMI to DVI cable. There are now a couple of third party vendors making mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapters but I'm not sure if they're available in Singapore.
Keep in mind that the mini-DisplayPort does not carry any audio even though HDMI could. So, you'll probably also want to get an audio cable to connect your headphone port to the audio inputs of the TV or stereo.

  • Macbook Air HDMI adapter not working

I know there are other threads about this but they are a bit outdated. So anyway I bought an hdmi adapter for my macbook air and it was working perfectly for about an hour and a half when suddenly the tv registered "no signal" yet the macbook was still saying it was connected to the tv. I thought it may have been a problem with the tv so I tried on another tv in the house, same result. So then i thought it may be the hdmi so i switched them, same result. So now the only problem could be the adapter or my laptop, does anyone know how I can fix my problem???

    Greetings obomb2000,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your MacBook Air is not outputting video to your TVs using an HDMI adapter, and you've done a good job of isolating this behavior to either the adapter or laptop.
Here are a few additional steps you can try on your MacBook Air before trying another adapter:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.

  • Macbook air hdmi connection problem

I cannot get my macbook air to connect to my tv via an hdmi cable. I suspected my cable until my neighbor had the same issue. Have others experienced this and is there a solution?

I have had this same problem. Has the wifi worked before? What I did was I turned my wifi off, then I restarted my computer, then I turned my wifi back on. If that doesnt work, leave the wifi off, and shut it down for a while. Hope I could help!

  • Connect iphone to macbook through hdmi using lihhtning to hdmi connector

I Have a iPhone 5s, a macbook pro 2014, and a lightning port to hdmi connector. I was expecting to plug the connector into my iPhone and to hdmi on my MacBook, but nothing happens when I do.  I would like the be able to play videos from my iPhone onto my computer. What am I missing? This should be easier, I am quite disappointed  honestly. what am I doing wrong?

    Hi AmbiguousSk8r,
The HDMI port on a MacBook Pro does not support video in, only video out. See this article -

  • Connecting macbook via HDMI issues

I have a 2010 15" macbook pro. for the longest time i have had it hooked up to my 32 in vizio led tv via minidisplay to hdmi cable when recently it quit working and my tv would say retreiving data... and then no signal. at first i thought maybe i needed a new cable so i tried that and it still didn't work. It seems to connect fine to my living room tv but i just cant get it to work on the smaller 32" tv.
any thoughts to what the issue might be or what could fix it? thanks for any input

actually i just realized after putting a dvd in my xbox it is coming up with an error saying secure HDCP link not found... im wondering now if that means that maybe it is an issue with the tvs hdmi port?
Yes. That's a handshake issue, meaning the two cannot communicate. Your TV is the issue.

  • Macbook air HDMI

Bought new macbook air and connected hdmi cable to thunderbolt port. Firstly, blue screen appears, but after 1-2 seconds screen comes back and nothing changes. Can't find how to connect tv to new macbook air. Any recommendations ?
    Thanks beforehand.

price is somewhere between 6-15$. Buy the correct one, you have the mini-hdmi connector I suppose (otherwise you would not be able to enter it in the thunderbolt port), so you need thunderbolt to mini-hdmi.

  • Macbook Retina HDMI to VGA

I'm looking for the best solution to connect my Macbook Retina to VGA projectors at work.  I see two adapters on the Apple store both with bad reviews.  Has anyone had good sucess with any adapters that go from HDMI to VGA?
    Thanks

Below are the two adaptors I use that work fine.
I use the VGA at work for the connection to conference room projectors
I use the DVI connection to a $100 flat screen second second monitor I have
I'm happy with both.  The only issue is, since I plug/unplug the thunderbolt cable several times a day, the connection moves and the monitor sometimes looses the signal for a second.  Thunderbolt is just not a tight connection like DVI and VGA and doesn't hold it in place strong enough.  Nice that its small but not a good connector over all...the number one requirement of a connection is that it is tight and secure...thunderbolt fails this.
