MacBook to Logik HDTV

I've just connected my MacBook (Early 2008) to my Logik TV using a Mini-DVi to HDMi Converter. I was also told by the Apple Experts to buy a Belkin Stereo Cable 3.5mm plug to RCA to carry the sound. Although the picture is great on the telly, the sound won't come through. Can any one please help me with this?

How many HDMI ports are on your TV?
How many line in connectors? - Is there a line-in miniplug next to a HDMI port / DVI / VGA?
On most TV sets only a certain HDMI port will work with another certain sound in port.

Macbook pro to HDTV, video is working but audio is not working, how to make audio work as well

If you use an HDMI cable, the audiostream will be integrated, so there will be sound when using an HDMI cable!
Not necessarily.  That only works as stated if you have one of the most recent MBP's that has a built-in HDMI port.
If the MBP only has a Thunderbolt or miniDisplayPort, you need an appropriate adapter cable and even if you use an HDMI adapter or cable to connect to your HDTV there is no guarantee it will carry audio.  You have to determine if your specific MBP model supports audio out through its miniDisplayPort or Thunderbolt output, and whether the adapter does likewise.

  • Connecting MacBook to Samsung HDTV

Can anyone tell me what I will need to connect my Macbook to my HDTV? Is it DVI or Mini DVI or what?
    Thanks!

Most HDTV's I've seen do not have a DVI port, usually they have VGA and HDMI though. Your best bet would be to get a Mini Displayport to HDMI or VGA adapter from your local Apple store or online.
If your are fine with 3rd party cables/adapters then I would suggest monoprice.com where I got a 10ft MiniDisplayport to HDMI cable (no cluncky adapter) for about $12. Just remember that the Macbooks do not support audio over HDMI so you will also need to run an audio cable if you want to use something other then the built in speakers.
    Hope that helps.

What cable do you need to watch shows on your macbook to your HDTV?

Depends on which MacBook Pro you have and what kind of TV you have.
If you're MacBook Pro is 2010 or 2010, and your TV has an HDMI input, then get this adapter.  It should be easy.

  • Audio problem with boot camp when I connect my windows 7 macbook pro to HDTV

I have windows 7 32 bits installed on my macbook pro and I setup boot camp 4. When I connect my macbook pro to HDTV using mini display cable, the audio doesn't work. Although I set the default sound device to digital audio? help please!

I've found that jiggling with the audio connection to my Mac Pro when running in Boot camp, I get audio OK. I don't understand why -- because I always get audio when running in Leopard.

  • 13" Macbook + DVI-HDMI + HDTV Problem

    Hello,
I recently bought myself a 13" macbook, which I'm now in love with!
so here's my question, I have a Mini Dvi to Dvi Adaptor hooked up to my macbook and a DVI to HDMI cable running to my HDTV (32") into the HDMI Input (on the tv.) When I goto plug it in ( either tv first or macbook first) My macbook screen turns to this hazy blue screen (looks just like the boot up screen) and Then my macbook freezes up. I've tried shutting down my macbook plugging everything in and then booting up, but still no luck it does the same thing. I just got my mac on sunday straight from apple.com .
any suggestion? I've heard this is a typical issue.
    Thanks
    Aj

no luck, I made sure the cables were super tight and plugged in properly. my tv says "no signal"
and my macbook freezes up with the blue screen.
This time I tried it two different ways, I shut down my mac book and made sure my tv was off. Turned on my tv switched it to HDMI IMPUT 1 and tightly plugged in my cables. then turned on my macbook.
After seeing the booting screen ( little apple picture and music) a light blue screen (that normally appears durning booting) appears and it freezes on that blue screen. then I tried leaving my mac book on and tv turned on to HDMI Input one and plugging it in, this time I'm able to see my desktop ( on my mac book, tv still says no signal) and I get this fogginess that appears over the screen. I can move my mouse but everything else will not respond.
any help or suggestion would be super!
    Thanks guys (and or gals)

  • Video out from MacBook Pro to HDTV - no solution?

I've had this problem for over a year now and nobody has been able to help me solve it, not even the Apple guys. I need to get the video out from my MacBook Pro (Mini DisplayPort) to my HDTV which is an older model which only has Y/Pb/Pr analogue video inputs. Does anyone know which connectors I can use in order to get 1080i on my TV? My thoughts were MDP to VGA first so that we get an analogue signal, and then VGA to Y/Pb/Pr? Would this work? Why/why not? Please help!!!

  • "Mode not supported" when connecting MacBook Pro to HDTV

When I connect my MacBook Pro to the SAMSUNG widescreen HDTV and hit "Detect Displays", it does detect it as VGA Display and it gives me a bunch of options for resolutions and refresh rates, but there was no "Options" tab where I could check or uncheck "Overscan" and even keeping the refresh rate at 60 Hz, and even trying mirrored and non-mirrored screens, nothing worked. It still said "Mode not supported". I used a dual-link DVI to YPbPr cable which I just bought and my friend can connect his MacBook Pro to his HDTV with the same cable, but it doesn't seem to work for me. What's wrong?

  • Help: Which cable to connect my macbook to my HDTV?

    Hi,
Perhaps somebody has posted something on that. I bought a Sony 17-inch HDTV and I have a macbook. The Sony TV came with a cable called HD15-H15 video signal cable.
Should I buy the Mini-DVI to DVI cable? Is there any other cable I should buy? I have read something about the HDMI cable... is that necessary? Isn't it just to connect the Mini-DVI to DVI cable to my HD15-H15 cable?
    Thank you so much!
    MIke

    Hi,
to clarify... isn't HD15 an analogue connector? Will DVI connector work on a HD15? You see, I have a Samsung "mosel" N7 LCD and it requires HD15 connection and only the mini DVI to VGA converter works, and my Mini DVI to DVI converter does not work apparently. I think it applies to Sony as well, anyone can confirm that?
Anyway, I find the macbook's display really pales in comparison to the samsung, so much so that now I run my mac on the living room display and using the macbook's display only on the road. Just my 2 cents worth. Once you're on the extended colour gamut of newer generation LCD HDTVs, you won't want the macbook's display anymore, trust me!
But I still love my macbook, for all that it's worth, it's worth every cent!

  • Macbook pro to hdtv - Cant fit screen properly

    Hello
i connected my macbook pro to my 42 panasonic plasma tv, and worked perfectly, even sound (using dvi to hdmi adapter), but im having this little issue, which is, the screen does not fit perfectly, im always missing the upper bar and ive read i could use the "underscan" option, but when its in mirror mode, its greyed out (means i cant play with it). Now, when i uncheck mirror mode (so both laptop and tv screen are active) then i am able to use underscan, but my idea is to use mirror mode only. Any idea how to solve this? Its not a problem on the tv's side, already played with all kind of configs without luck, so i just wonder why underscan is not enabled
    any help will be appreciated

By design, most TV sets are designed to overscan -- that is they zoom the image slightly, so that you don't see artifacts that appear at the edges of the image. Most HDTV sets have a means to disable this feature. On Samsung sets, for example, it's called "Just Scan". This is probably what "Underscan" means for your Panasonic set.
If you are in mirrored mode and the resolution of the Mac isn't set to the same as the native resolution of the display (either 1920x1080 for a 1080p set, or 1280x720 for a 720p set), you can't disable the overscan. You need to set the Mac's resolution to that of the TV. The Mac display will be distorted as a result.

  • MacBook Pro to HDTV

When I connect my MacBook Pro to my HDTV through a mini display port to HDMI cable w/audio support I only get video no sound from the TV.  How do I get sound on the TV?

which macbook pro do you have? only the late 2010 models started to support sound via hdmi.
for the rest of us, we need to use the headphone jack with a miniToslink to toslink (otical audio). Most tvs and recievers from the 90's will have this input.

  • Trying to connect my macbook to LG HDTV

hi there new guy here, i have been trying for the last 2 months to Connect my Macbook to my LG HDTV and having no luck with the sound, visual is fine but full screen isnt end to end, top to bottom is fine but end to end isnt..... but its the sound that more important tbh.
Now i have went to Apple store in Glasgow which is a bit of a journey from kilmarnock, they have advised me the sound will work with a...
3.5 to Digital Optical Audio Cable from iWires - it doesnt let any sound out from the Laptop but doesnt Play through the TV
and then when this hasn't worked i was advised that the...
3.5mm to 2x RCA/Phono Cable form iWires Would work which again! it hasn't again no sound from the laptop when its plugged in, and no sound from the TV, not entierly sure what im doing wrong but thats why i am here....

If we are told the model number of your TV, and then if we could download a users manual, we MIGHT be able to give you some advice.
Some TV's do have a place to connect an audio input along side of the HDMI cable.

  • How can I connect my new macbook pro to HDTV, either wirelessly or via a cable?

I just got a Macbook Pro about a month ago and I'm trying to figure out how to connect it to my HDTV. Is it possible to connect it and simply use the HDTV as a display that way?
Ideally, I'd like to connect it wirelessly, but if not, I understand that a cable should work. I tried to look for a cable from one of the Macbook Pro's ports to the HDMI port on the tv... but couldn't find anything. My old Macbook had a DVI port and I don't think it exist anymore (unless I'm missing it).
    Hope to hear back soon.
    Guy

If your MBP can use it, I highly recommend the following adapter:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er
I'd be very surprised if it doesn't have a capable mini DisplayPort, since my not-quite-one-year-old MBP does.  But to be sure, first make sure you've got a mini DisplayPort, then scroll down on the page above and find a user comment titled "How you know if it is supported w/o guessing."

  • Audio from Macbook to Samsung HDTV

    Hi,
I have this common problem of trying to get audio from my Macbook when connecting it to my Samsung HDTV (40in)
    I have a 2009 Macbook.
This is what I'm using. I'm not great on the jargon, but I think this is a HDMI cable for the video which works fine, but carries no audio.
The problem is the audio, which I have an RCA cable for, but maybe I'm not connecting it to the right place. I've tried all combinations though.
The only thing I can see that may be an issue is everyone seems to talk about red and white cables, mine are red and black, don't know if that makes any difference.
I also can't see anything in the TV menu to help with audio setup.
Can anyone help, it's driving me nuts!
    Thanks!

Or check your TV manual for an input mode labeled HDMI/DVI (it may be labelled HDMI 1 or 2). This should take picture from the HDMI but listen to audio from your stereo audio input you have already connected up.
There is an audio input labelled PC/DVI - is that the one you mean? if you look at my picture (of the back of the TV) it's pretty much bang in the middle of the pic. But I don't recognise the input. What kind of cable is that - it is circular in style....
HDMI 1 is actually labelled HDMI 1 (DVI) (not too clear in the pic)...maybe that's what you are referring to?
I do not have the same model TV as yours, however on mine, the small round AUDIO INPUT jack accepts the same kind of connector as that goes into the computer earphone jack. Therefore I use a cable with the same kind of connector on each end.
