Macbook to Panasonic Viera HDTV issues :( HELP!

Hi
I recently bought the correct cables to connect my macbook to the TV using HDMI. The macbook connects to the TV and I can see this because in the system preferences 'Display' Panasonic TV settings come up. The thing is there is no macbook picture on my TV. Please help. Ive been looking at it for hours!
Thanks in advance!

Depends on what input plug you'll be using on your TV. VGA, DVI or HDMI. You'll need a Mini DisplayPort adapter and a cable from that to your TV. Here's the various types of Mini DisplayPort adapters on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_2_16?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=mini+ displayport&sprefix=mini+displayport&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amini+displayport
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
With the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.

  • Can I connect my MacBook Air wirelessly to my Panasonic Viera HDTV

I would like to connect my MacBook Air to my Panasonic Viera HDTV wirelessly, so that we can view family photos, videos etc on the large flat screen. Is it possible and, if so, how do I go about it?

I believe you would need an Apple TV:
    https://www.apple.com/appletv/
FWIW, you are not running iOS (any version) on a Mac computer, it would be Mac OS 10.x.x (which is helpful for anyone trying to help you).

  • 13" MacBook boots to hal.dll issue - Help!

I recently tried to install Windows XP using bootcamp, I read somewhere the section that bootcamp makes needed to be wiped or deleted, so it doesn't use the default structure. So I deleted the partition, I selected Windows to install to the new space. Although, it installed XP in the NTFS layout, and then refused to boot up, claiming hal.dll was missing.
Everytime I start the MacBook it boots to this screen, I have tried MANY commands for Windows through using the advice of others who have had this issue, but none worked. After trying and trying, it eventually claimed something had been corrupted. I cannot remove the disk and cannot get it to boot to OSX. I have tried CommandOF to try and get the disk out but nothing happened.
I have tried almost every thing I can think of, could someone please give me some advice and help me solve this?!
    Thank you!

No joy unfortunately, it claims 'There is no floppy disk or CD in the drive', when there clearly is. I do not know the letter allocations of each partition or drive, so cannot try it another way.
Is there any way I can just get back into OSX and delete the Windows partition? I have really tried to use key commands on boot up but it just goes to the Windows partition.
    Thanks,
    Max

  • Retina MacBook Pro HDMI to HDTV issues

Hi folks, not sure if any of you facing the same problems. I plug my rMBP to my HDTV in the office and at home, and I need to underscan the output in order to see everything on the screen. If not, parts of the frame is total cut off (for instance, I can see a tiny bit of the buttons in YouTube when I full screen on the HDTV).
Anyone has a solution to this? Or should I just send this in to Apple service center? Thanks...

I am also experiencing this problem. Has anyone solved it yet?

  • New 13" Macbook Pro trying to connect to a Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 as second monitor. I've used multiple hdmi-thunderbolt/mini displayport adapters and multiple hdmi cables and still no success. The Macbook does not sense the second monitor (TV). Help?!

I've been a Mac since 2008, so I know my way around the system pretty well. This issue, however, has me stumped. I had an iMac until now and only now am I experiencing some difficulty with my new MacBook Pro. The model I have is the newest 13" Macbook Pro model and I'm trying to connect a Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 42" HDTV as a second monitor via the Thunderbolt port.
It worked the first two times and hasn't worked since, after 10-15 attempts with different configurations, turning things on n off, restarting the mac, unplugging the cables, adapters, TV, resetting the P RAM, etc... I've used multiple hdmi-thunderbolt/mini displayport adapters and multiple hdmi cables and still no success. No matter what I do, the Macbook does not sense the TV as a second monitor anymore.
I took the MacBook Pro to the Apple Store, and their "genius" there had it working fine with a DVI connection to a regular monitor. The Panasonic TV I have has HDMI connections and one VGA connection which does not support HD, but no DVI option. I want an HD connection to mirror or extend my MacBook Pro screen. At the Apple Store, they didn't have a Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, so he could not try that out for me.
Anyone else have this configuration or another similar one with a Panasonic HDTV?
    Ideas? Suggestions? Anything?! Help!!
P.S. I'm running Mountain Lion, if that wasn't already obvious. Everything is up to date in my App Store as well.
    Thanks!

    Hi There,
I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Hi Wilepe,
The only way the Panasonic plasmas can get 1080p is through HDMI. Are you using a DVI to HDMI conversion cable? Apple sells one in store. You will find the HDMI video resolution compatibility list in the back of the manual.

  • Bad Picture Quality On SD Channels With HDMI And Panasonic VIERA 720p LCD HDTV

I just bought a new Panasonic VIERA 32" 16:9 8ms 720p LCD HDTV TC-L32X1 for my in-laws when they finally had Verizon FIOS brought into their neighborhood last month.
Install was by the Verizon tech using the HDMI cable I also had shipped to them.
The HD channels quality is excellent, but the SD quality is smeared -- almost looks like an impressionist painting.
It is not the TV -- the TV menus are crystal clear, as are the HD channels.
And, it is not just the broadcast HD -- the DVR box menus are also smeared when viewing as SD channel, as is the guide and the pop up channel info.
We've tried all the settings on the TV -- Zoom, 4:3, etc.
The other TV (an older CRT) actually has better SD quality than the Panasonic.
My research indicates we're not the only ones on FIOS with this problem. Someone suggested using the component hookup rather than HDMI?
Other say that IMG 1.7 is supposed to solve the problem, that the SD quality was fine before IMG 1.6.
    Any suggestions, solutions, or updates?
    The picture is virtually unwatchable.
    Thank you!

Here's a particularly relevant post if you don't want to wade through all the above links:

Joe01880 - Being a new customer as of last October, I have never seen anything other than IMG 1.6.  My understanding from other posts is that before IMG 1.6, the SD PQ on an HD box was just fine.  I'm not sure what the complaints/gripes/begs were for IMG 1.6 but it seems to me that, if Verizon knows what changes were made, it should be straightforward to determine which changes caused a deterioration of the PQ.  I think it's been at least 6 months since the first complaints of poor PQ, so I don't really see how anyone can claim that Verizon is in danger of "rushing" an update to address this problem.  I also don't think that a forum topic, no matter how much it complains or gripes, will cause Verizon to rush.  I am much more worried that during a large portion of my 2 year contract that the issue won't be addressed at all, so I'm happy to add my voice to those complaining."

  • Connecting my macbook pro to my panasonic viera tv - no picture or sound

Hi there, I'm trying to connect my macbook pro to my panasonic viera tv by using an HDMI chord and a Thunderbolt mini displayport, but I can't seem to get it to work. Im just getting a screen saver, not even the same screen saver I currently have set on my macbook either. PLEASE HELP! I'm clueless with all this kind of stuff!
    Thank you!

It sounds like you haven't switched your TV to its HDMI1 input.  HDMI1is not a channel (as in a TV channel) ... it's an input.  If you are clicking the channel buttons you will never get to your HDMI1 input.
On your TV remote there is a button that says "Input" ... click it and then use the up/down arrow keys to select HDMI1.   Note, to go back to regular TV channels you will have to click the Input button again and select 'TV.'

  • Displaying MacBook on Panasonic HDTV USED to work...

Anyone have any idea why one day I was able to use my Panasonic 50" HDTV as a monitor for my MacBook, and then suddenly the next day it stops working? I'm using mini-DVI to DVI and DVI to HDMI adapter/cables. Would having updated the security software the last time have anything to do with this? Thanks!

I have a similar problem, just ran a software update for my macbook yesterday and since then my Samsung 20" T200HD has stopped working properly. I can still get an image but the resolution is crap now. It seems my mac is not recognizing the Samsung as the main Display anymore even when I put it to sleep with lid down and wake it up using an external keyboard. Anyone else having problems with their external displays? Is apple releasing any fixes for these issues?

  • Calibrating a Panasonic Viera with MacBook

    Hi Everyone,
I am using a DVI to HDMI cable to connect my MacBook to a 42" Panasonic Viera HD Pasma. Leopard recognizes the TV has PANASONIC-TV and provides a default calibration with the same name. The problem is the colors are nor at all accurate and the resolution does not seem to be different that the display of my MacBook. My MacBook res is 1280-800 and the TV is 1920-1080. Is there a better free way to calibrate the colors the in System Preferences?
    Any help is appreciated.
Here are the details of my MacBook:
    Model Name: MacBook
    Model Identifier: MacBook1,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed: 2 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 2 MB
    Memory: 1 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz

    SMC Version: 1.4f12
    Serial Number: 4H62916XWBW
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
    State: Enabled

Hi Tim; It sounds like your MacBook is set to output in Mirror Dispaly mode. This will set the external monitor to the same resolution as the MacBook. Try setting it to Extended Desktop mode to see if it goes to the proper resolution, it may also improve the colors.
    Good Luck

Let's try the simple approach first. Restart your router. Any change?

  • Macbook pro to Panasonic Viera GT30 TV?

I have a brand new 15 inch Macbook pro with a high res antiglare screen. I connected it to my brand new Panasonic Viera GT30 plasma TV via an HDMI cable and a Moshi minidisplay port to HDMI adapter. The computer is in mirror mode and the resultion automatically goes to 1080p. The desktop does appear on the television, however the problem is that the picture that appers ont the TV does not fit the whole screen. the top and bottom is cut off slightly and the right and left have blak bars on them. Why is this? Is there anyway to fix this?
Every video i watch of people hooking up their new macs to their tv's shows the desktop or video they r playing filling the whole tv screen. I would like to do the same. Thx!

  • Airport express stream to panasonic viera

    Help please.
I have an airport express that will not play through my Panasonic Viera plasma tv. I am streaming from my macbook pro to the airport express because I tested it by plugging in headphones to the airport express. I am plugged into the tv via mini jack on the AE to audio jack to the tv. I have tried plugging into several inputs (comp1, comp2, video1, video2) with no success. I have also been through the menu for any settings that I may need to change. Am I missing something?

Panasonic plasmas will not play audio unless there is a picture. I see you mentioned connecting audio to the component and video 2 inputs, but did you connect a video connection to these inputs?
If the plasma is playing picture and audio from a standard video device on a composite connection (video 2) and it works fine - there is video and audio connected. The same is true for component as far back as Plasmas have had
    tuners (2003).
    No video = No Audio

  • Skype on 2013 Panasonic Viera E6 - Skype while wat...

    Hello.
I see "Skype while watching TV" on the Panasonic website for this series TV, but I can't find an option to login to Skype automatically when turning on the TV, on the TV itself. I have the Panasonic TY-CC20W Skype camera - which works nicely.
Skype is working for me, however, I did have to google for a solution as it wouldn't initially login. It turns out that my existing profile needed to be completed before it would log me in on the TV app. It would be nice if the error message reflected this requirement rather than the misleading:  "Sorry we can't sign you into Skype at the moment due to a temporary problem".
Anyways, the Panasonic website says "Skype while watching TV". Does anyone know how to do this please?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't know why this is listed as having an "accepted solution", the "solution" did not work at all for me! I have a new Panasonic Viera ZT65 with with the TY-CC20 camera. i was able to log on to Skype ONE time. Every time thereafter, I get that "Sorry, There's a temporary problem try again later" message
Every time i try to log on, i get the same message. that thing about complting your Skype profile is useless and didn't help at all! The TV is hardwired to the ethernet and has no network problems. When I disconnect the camera, it tells me that I can only use Skype in demo mode as there's no camera. When i p,ug the camera back in, same old Sorry temporary problem message. logging in and out does nothing. i can log into Skype fine with my Ipad or iMac, but not with the Viera and the "Skype certified" camera for this TV!
why is there no fix for this? Why does nobody care about this? There are no more firmware upgrades that I can find and apparantly this is a well known problem, and this seems to be a problem that's been around for well over a year at this time (11/2013)
Is Skype deliberatly ignoring this? Is Panasonic totally ignoring this issue? Somebody could fix this if thet cared.
This issue IS NOT FIXED! The "fix" does NOTHING! Re-open this topic, it is not solved, it is NOT fixed! Whoever posted an "accepted fix" never tried this in the real world. they just posted something without checking it for facts.
Cannot answer or make calls as I can't log on at all. Even with "Remember password
" on, it never remembers the password.
If I use a USB keyboard to log on or use the screen alphabet to log on, i get the same problems.
Is there a "real" fix for this??

  • Panasonic HDC-TM900 issues with Mountain Lion.. Not compatible??

Hi, I can't see any of my video files I recorded onto my camcorder once plugged in via USB. I have a Panasonic HDC-TM900. It work fine before I updated to Mountain Lion.
When I plug my HDC-TM900 camcorder into my MacBook Pro, all the files on the camera Memory and SD card could be seen. All I did then was copy and paste the MTS files from either the Camera Memory or SD card to my desktop and convert them in iSkySoft. ( this all worked fine before I updated to Mountain Lion.
I tried plugging in the Panasonic into my iMac and MacBook this still run the older OS and all the files can be seen with no problem.
So I have concluded that it could only my an issue with Mountain Lion that it does not see or pickup certain files off my Panasonic camcorder
Can someone help ? I  am very desperate to find answers.

I can't tell you why, but I can tell you that Apple published the list of supported hardware on its website quite a while ago. The oldest MacBook Pro model that supports Mountain Lion is the Mid/Late 2007 model. You have the late 2006 model.
Details are (and have been) here:
