Macbook to Smart TV Streaming

I have just purchased a Smart TV, I am trying to stream my movie I have on my Macbook to my Smart TV through wifi, Is this possible?

You may be able to use AirPlay to stream your video and music to your new Smart TV. It does require an Apple TV to do this and here is some additional info to see if your computer supports AirPlay:

I honestly don't remember what it came with though I do remember having two drives so long ago. Since then I've had to replace them with newer, faster ones, and just didn't really need a second drive. I don't copy cds, I just need something to read DVDS (which the current one doesn't seem to want to do) and occasionally burn something.
I bought the MacPro becuase I am a tireless multitasker, having super memory eating programs on at all times. Right now I am working in Photoshop while watching a movie, with two P2P programs open, two chat programs and surfing the internet, with two monitors active so I can see everything.. I can't imagine the average pc doing this wthout blowing up Mac Pros are the ultimate computer for those that like to do a lot at once.
The speed and memory capacity of the Mac Pro make it the best computer hands down to handle a mind that can't be satisfied with doing just one thing at a time!
And six years after buying it, it can still eat the average pc for breakfast How's that for great?

How to connect macbook to smart tv

I have a 2008 macbook and want to connect iT to my Samsung smart tv. I have bought a minidisplayport to HDMI adapter and get a gold video signal in my tv, bit no. sound. Does anyone know how to get. this right?

From MacBook to TV in streaming...

I'm just passed from my old PC on a world with only Mac (sorry for my English, is not my mother language), now I have one MacBook, one Ipad and One old AppleTV.
I have a lot of file .avi on my Macbook (or better they are on an external HD), if I want to watch them on My Tv in streaming how can I do?
It will be useful if I buy the new Apple TV or not?

Presumably the stuff cannot be accessed drectly on AppleTV via the YouTube app?
I assume your internet speed is ok, but if variable that could have an effect, though you'd perhaps expect similar performance on all devices unless the MAc is getting a better quality stream/resolution not available on iPhone/iPad.
I am not a big fan of Airplay Mirroring - it is very network dependent, and assuming internet speed is ok, not only do you then need local bandwidth to transfer content from the internet via your router to the Mac, you also need additional wifi/ethernet bandwidth for the Mac to send the data to the AppleTv in real time, and this can stress weak points in the network - you may be usingteh iPhone/iPad in a different location to the Mac with the protables getting better wifi signal for example.

Macbook pro - freezes when streaming video

my macbook pro ( mid 2009) - 8 GB RAM and maverick OS - freezes whenever i stream video in it .. it doesnot happen immediately but after 15-30 min
i need to hardboot it afte that .. then comes the funny part .. when i reboot usually i get the dreaded "flashing" question mark
so i need to do this to get back on track
1. reboot by pressing the "option" key and select the disk to boot from
2. then reboot again by pressing "command" + "option" + P + R - ( reset PRAM )
now voila back in business
this happened 2-3 times in the last 1 week
please dont tell me i need to change the logic board :-)
unless otherwise i stream video, i dont have any issues
( infact only 2 weeks back genius bar ran a hardware test when i took for RAM upgrade and found everything is ok )

The startup disk may need repairing ...
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to acces the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.

Macbook audio stuttering while streaming from Netflix, Hulu, etc...

As of late my wife's 2008 Black Macbook 2.16ghz C2D has been acting up while streaming video. It first started with kernel panics, but Iocated the problem and relieved the Macbook of it. Now though after a hard drive erase to zero, a re-install of the OS, and an uprgade to the ram it has an audio stutter present when watching Netflix. I've checked practically everything on it. Even opened it up to check the hardware. Can anyone help? I ran this diagnostic from some help here in the forums.Can anyone see anything I'm missing? The help would surely be appreciated. Thanks!

You may have tried these suggestions before, but since I do not know the history here goes:
Looks like you have many plugins in your safari.
Disable all plugins except silverlight and try Netflix.
Try Chrome.
Once you run HULU the flash plugin it eat up hundreds of megabites of ram and then KEEP them for hours. It is a FLASH problem.
If you run Netflix (silverlight) after you run Hulu, you will run out of memory pretty quickly. The solution is to quit (not just close) Safari and then go to netflix.
Look at your activity monitor while you are using Netflix. How is your RAM and CPU usage?
Also Comcast (and the like) sometimes throttles your internet connection. Make sure your internet connection speed is still just as fast as it used to be.

Transferring photos between ipad and macbook air (not photo stream)

Photos were originally on my IMac 10.6.8. Put them on my Ipad (I think it's the 2nd one). Now I want to put the photos from my ipad to my macbook air. I have photo stream set up on both but I think because they were not taken on my ipad or originally downloaded from a camera to my ipad photo stream doesn't send them to my macbook via photo stream. How do I get them from the ipad to the macbook air 10.8.4?

MacBook shuts down when streaming video

I use safari, so my assumption is the problem lies there. I did a software update in January along with upgrading to snow leopard but this problem has been happening since before then.
Its only a few years old and the only thig that's wrong with it is the battery is dead and needs replaced but I have my charger plugged in 24/7. would that have anything to do with streaming video?
Has this ever happened to anyone?

I've found that the computer only shuts down when streaming netflix.
I can play videos on youtube or vimeo long periods of time without the computer crashing.
When streaming netflix, the computer turns off within 5 minutes or less usually.
I have the newest version of silverlight installed and older versions deleted from my hd.
Does this information point to another or more specific problem?
Have others experienced a similar issue with regard to netflix or silverlight?

Smart tv streaming has stopped recently

Why has it become impossible to watch anything using my WiFi dongle on my Samsung smart tv.
It's only recently, it's not been moved, the hubs not been moved etc etc but every two minutes it's stopping and were having to reconnect to the hub, which incidently is found immediately with full 5 bar connection . It just won't stay connected
Is it my broadband dropping out momentarily?
I'm not on fibre optic as it's not available or being made available and were on a new estate which has been here less than 10 years. Can anyone point me in the right direction

Macbook air smart disk failing? please help!?

just got the computer it didn't have a battery yet, it wouldn't let me install os x lion or log in or anything and in disk utilities my 80 gb samsung hard drive is in red, and says smart disk is failing, and it won't let me repair. please help i need to know how to fix this asap!

Why did my AirPlay disappear from my iphone and macbook when trying to stream to Apple TV?

I have the newest gen Apple TV. I got it mainly to airplay from and mirror from my ios devices, and macbook. I soon learned that mirroring was not available as the have the last gen macbook, but that i could airplay using home sharing for everything in my itunes library including directly from my iphone running 6.0.1. I was enjoying that function most of all and then all of a sudden, it's just gone. The AirPlay icon is gone from my phone, and my apple tv no longer reads my macbook running latest version of mtn lion.
On the Apple TV, it keeps telling me to turn home sharing on, which it already is.
My Apple Tv is running the latest version. I have the latest version of mtn lion, as well as ios6. I am on the same network on all devices - did a test - test came back positive the tv is able to run apps successfully. Reset all devices, restarted all devices.
Is there a fix for this? There should be no reason why it's not functioning. Please help.

Put your mouse on the word RECENT in the left hand pane. Then when the word 'Show' appears, click on it.

Macbook 2009 bluetooth Yosemite - Streaming Audio problems

I seem to have terrible problems with bluetooth streaming Audio ever since the upgrade, sounds like a bug that needs to be fixed.

I also always listened to streaming web radio in itunes (128k) which is now barely usable in Yosemite, it skips, drops out and stops playing constantly.
I have a 75mbps fios connection so that is not the issue and it always worked great before. Just started after upgrading to yosemite.

My MacBook Pro can't stream my iTunes library over AirPlay to my AirPort Express.

The option shows up in iTunes but I can't click on it. I've tried turning AirPlay on and off and turning the router on and off and nothing has worked yet.

I did set the printer to have a fixed IP address, no luck.
I had done a disk verification as well, no luck.
But then I did a disk permission verification and repair, finally it's fixed! - but it took me 2 afternoon just trying to fix this printing problem.
So I recommend anyone who has the similar problem should do a disk permission verification and repair.

HT4847 I need to free up space in my iCloud - most of it is used by photos - if I stop backing up my camera roll will it send the photos to my photo stream?? I already backup all photos on photo stream on my macbook??

Yes, Photo Streams work independent of the iOS Backup.
But a better way to manage your photos would be best. Use Camera Roll for new photos only like we used to do with the old film cameras. Once your Photos are organized into iPhoto on your Mac sync them back to the iPhone through iTunes. The photos in the Photo Library on the iPhone are not included with the iOS Backup since they should be already backed up in the computer's backups.

Hardware to attach to Macbook pro for live video stream?

Thinking of buying a Macbook Pro for video streaming of live events and conferences we do.
My question is what video USB add-ons are compatible with Flash Media Live Encoder? I can't find a list anywhere. Are there any cheap USB video input devices that will work with the software for live streaming?

I think anything with a properly installed driver for your OS will for in the encoder, the isight on my macbook pro works fine, as well do 2 other cheap webcams on windows.
My suggestion is to purchase a cam from a retailer that offers refunds for pretty much any reason, and you'll be OK and find something on the first try, and if not try again.
