Macbook update repeatedly coming back?

*the Macbook EFI Firmware Update keeps coming back. Every day it pops back up even though i already downloaded it! I restarted my computer & everything it told me to do but it keeps coming back! & at the end it says it installed successfully. Please any help to get rid of this?*

Even though you've downloaded it did it actually get installed? Check your Applications->Utilities folder and see if the firmware is in there. You'll need to be running on A/C to run the firmware update. Software update will download the update but it needs to be run manually to actually install it.

  • Thunderbolt update is coming back

I'm not sure if this is a problem but my Thunderbolt update is coming back and asking for update again. I did it twice the last weeks and yesterady its back in my App Store. Is it right?

Are you installing the update while on battery power? If so then be sure your system is plugged into a reliable power source. Additionally, try resetting the system's SMC (see here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964), and then trying again.
Lastly, try going to the System > Library > CoreServices > Firmware Updates folder and remove any items you see in there, followed by opening the Terminal utility (in the Applications > Utilities folder) and run the following command (copy and paste it):
    open $TMPDIR../C
In the window that opens, locate and remove the folders called "com.apple.SoftwareUpdate" and "com.apple.appstore" and again try re-applying the update.

Subsequent to Yosemite or updates, my repeating calendar events can not be updated as before. When I update an event (of a repeating event) on my MacBook Pro; its reverts back when I shut it down and come back, and doesn't update other devices?
Has anyone experienced this and does anyone know a fix?

This is incredibly frustrating for me too!
I have a repeated monthly event for a discount at a store that is offered on the first Tuesday of every month. So I have a repeated event taking place on the 1st of every month. In the previous month I reset next month's date from the 1st to whatever date falls on the first Tuesday.
But ever since upgrading to Yosemite, I am experiencing the same problem as the original person who posted. The date saves on my calendar but does not sync to my iCloud. When I reboot the computer, the date reverts back to the 1st.
I'm thankful I don't have any events that needed to be tracked because ALL of my previous changes in the past have reverted back to the 1st of the month. I would have been in the same terrible situation as yaz999 in having to manually change every event in previous months.
Why hasn't this bug been fixed yet???!!!

  • Deleted emails keep coming back since the last big update on my macbook pro

Ever since the update that removed the ability to work with spaces on my mac, I have had issues with deleted emails coming back, even after deleting more than once.  Very frustrating.
Side note:  I preferred using the spaces function when moving from email to internet to other programs.  Not a huge fan of the updated function.

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore is not, in itself, a solution.
First, empty the Trash, if possible.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C:
    find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 \) 2>&- | wc -l | pbcopy
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.
The output of the command will be a number. It's automatically copied to the Clipboard. Please paste it into a reply.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

  • Deleted emails in Mail keep coming back since 10.10.3 update

Mac Mail won't let me delete email or move email to other mailboxes since updating to 10.10.3. I delete messages or move them to other folders/mailboxes, and they keep coming back to my Inbox. Some messages come back almost instantly. Some come back after a few minutes. Other messages have come back that I deleted earlier in the day. There don't appear to be duplicates, since the messages I deleted aren't in the trash or in the folder/mailbox to which I moved them. Some messages have stayed in the trash, but when I try to permanently delete them, they reappear. The only way I've been able to permanently delete messages is by going online and deleting them in Gmail. I have used Gmail in combination with Mail for years without problems, and I had been using an earlier version of Yosemite without problems. My mail account is a Gmail account set up as IMAP. I have folders/mailboxes that are in Gmail and I have folders/mailboxes that are on my computer, but the messages I move won't stay in either type of mailbox. I tried rebuilding the mail envelop with Onyx which has helped with Mail quirks in the past, but this time it did nothing to solve the problem.
Macbook Pro, Mid 2010, 2.66 GHz, Intel Core i7

I have an android phone. If I read a message on my phone, it still shows up on my desktop.
One of the problems with deleting messages is that I when I delete messages from the main Inbox (the Inbox that includes all incoming messages from all accounts), some of those messages stay in the Inbox for the individual account as unread. A typical scenario is that after reading all of my new email and deleting messages, I notice that Mail shows that I still have unread mail. So I go to the Inbox for an individual email account, and there are a bunch messages that I deleted (sometimes half, sometimes all of what I deleted) that are in the Inbox of the individual account and show as unread. Then when I go back to the main Inbox, and all of the messages that I deleted are suddenly back in the that Inbox. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to which messages get stuck. Sometimes the messages go away on their own. Sometimes they won't ever go away. I delete them from the main Inbox; they come back. I delete them from the individual account Inbox; they come back. I go to the Trash, delete them before they've gone back the the Inboxes, and they come back. The only way I can get rid of these zombie messages is to access the account through a browser and delete those messages online.
Another problem I have, is that Mail is constantly asking me to re-enter the password for one of my email accounts. Fortunately, it's an account I use less frequently, but it's a real problem when I Mail asks me to re-setup up an account every time I open Mail.
The problem has doubled or tripled the time it takes for me to keep track of my email. I'm going through reviews and looking for a replacement for Mail. I will be the first time I've used something besides Mail since I used Eudora (during the time when it was the best program available and you had to buy it).

  • HT2357 I accidently deleted all of my updates and they're not coming back. Is there any quick way to get these updates active again?

I accidentally deleted all of my updates and they're not coming back. I haven't been able to make any updates since 2006. I have a log of my past updates but I cannot seem to get them active again. Is there any easy way to get these updates active again?
This was a while ago back in 2006 but from what I can remember I actually deleted/permanently removed these updates from my list of updates. I tried keeping all the updates except for two that I did not need and somehow deleted all of the updates I wanted to keep. I've tried reseting my ignored updates but that does not bring back the updates. If i delete the two that I originally attempted to remove - it only brings those two back. I hope there is still some way to get these updates back. I appreciate any help that anyone is able to give me.
    Thanks!

  • App store updates coming back after updating

So I have an update for iMovie and a software update. I've updated them several times but they keep coming back...
As you can see I've updated the same thing to the same version several times....

    mmm thats very interesting.
have you logged in and out of the App Store, and or restarted
    all the usual suspects.
you can clear the 30 day update list in the App Store by
    trashing the updatejournal.plist found here.

my password keeps coming back incorrect, I have reset it 3 times now and it will not accept it on my iTunes to update on my phone or pad. It obviously is the right password since I was able to log in here...

Firstly  like King Penguin says log out ,i would clear cookies and history in the safari settings, then I would restart the unit and then open up ITunes and try using the last PW you entered when you changed it.Cookies can be a bugger.

  • Auto software update - when's it coming back?

Anybody know when the auto software update program is coming back? I miss that - it was a lifesaver for me, when it was still available.

Do you mean ThinkVantage System Update, or are you referring to something else?

    Hi,
I have just updated my macbook pro to the new software "Yosemite", now my drawing program, AutoCAD does not open...
I really need this program for work... Is there anyway i can remove this update and return back to my original system, (maverick) i think it was...
    Thankyou in advance

If you have a complete backup or clone of your Mac before you installed Yosemite, you can erase the Mac and restore the backup.

  • Macbook Pro - mail account. Deleted messages keep coming back!

    Hey,
I've deleted several messages (they were also in my drafts) and they keep popping back up in my sent mail and inbox, sometimes multiple copies of the same message. I want those messages gone. They keep coming back!!!! How do I fix this?

In Mail you have to move the message to gmail trash. Just deleting the message assigns it the delete label but doesn't delete it. You can truly delete the messages in web gmail, however.
    I hope this helps.
