Macbook video chat with pc

Question

I have a new macbook laptop I tried to video chat with a pc. can not get voice on one side only text.
called apple teck he said download mircosoft msn app 7.02 did it but having still having problems
apple teck said it's mircosoft problem. It seems that the two systems a fighting each other. If I downloaded vmfusion and run the mircosoft program would it work.

The big question is what software you're trying to use.
There is a myriad of options here - different software from different vendors that enable video chatting. Some are interoperable, others aren't.
Since the Apple tech recommended you download MSN Messenger I'll assume that's what you're using, but you should confirm that.
If you're not using MSN (or, more precisely, if your cohort is not using MSN) then you need to find out what software they're using first (and potentially try some of these as alternatives, anyway). Some possible candidates include:
Skype - http://www.skype.com/
Yahoo messenger - http://messenger.yahoo.com/
AIM - http://www.aim.com/
SightSpeed - http://www.sightspeed.com/ (free and commercial versions available)
plus many others.
Even if you both have compatible software there may be network issues at either end that prevent the video chat from working - firewalls and NAT routers can all get in the way. It would be worth trying different applications to see if one gets through your firewalls better, as well as trying a video chat with others to make sure it's not the specific combination of users/networks that's at fault.
