Macbook want start and makes a load beep

A friends Macbook wont start, when pressing the power button the macbook goes to a blank grey screen (with no apple logo) and also makes one load beep
Please post any help
Sorry but because it wont start cant tell you what operating system or model

Try booting from the install disk.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.

  • Macbook wont start and makes ticking noise

The subject line says it all. My macbook wont start and it makes clicking noises from inside the case, kind of like a watch. The display turns on and the chime goes when it starts, but the screen stays white and nothing happens.

You can run diagnostics from the OSX disc. Insert disc one and while it is booting hold down the d key. This should take you into diagnostics.
You might also try to reset PRAM AND PMU first.

My MacBook Pro starts and shuts off after loading for sometime

Try starting in Safe mode by holding down the Shift key while booting. Safe mode takes a while to load the OS. After that, restart the computer normally.
If that does not work, start up in Recovery by holding down the Command and R keys. In the window that opens, choose Disk Utility at the bottom and verify and repair your disk. Repair permissions while you are there.

Please help me, my Imac does not start and make a terrible noise like an alert when try to start ,the Imac keep a grey screen when try to start and keep there.

Sounds like it is time  to take it to an Apple Store or AASP to be serviced. You can also try troubleshooting using Apple's Gray screen appears during startup instructions.

  • HT1338 Daughter's MacBook Pro started and asked for 6 digits on a grey screen?

Daughter's MacBook Pro started and asked for 6 digits on a grey screen?

6 digits sounds like the code sent from Find My Mac when locking the machine. It can only be reset by an Apple Store.

  • Can you use the "Restore" function in Disk Utility to clone MacBook Pro HDD and make a bootable copy?

I'm cloning my MacBook Pro's HDD to a SSD and didn't really want to install another app (SuperDuper, CCC), can I just use the Restore function in Disk Utility app to clone it and make a bootable copy on my SSD?
    Thank you for the help!

    Yes.
Clone Yosemite, Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
             button.
         2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
         3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
         4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
             to the Destination entry field.
         5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
             the Source entry field.
         6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

My iMac won't boot up it makes a steady beeping sound and has a gray screen, occasionally it shows a picture of a file with a question mark blinking in the center, can anyone help

The blinking question mark indicates that the firmware could not find a valid Operating System on your machine.

  • ITunes Hangs on Start and Can't Load My Library

I started installing iTunes 11.1.1 on OS X 10.8.5 but, forgot to restart the computer.  Then, a few days later, I opened iTunes and it hung on opening.  It wouldn't even force quit.  So, I ended up having to hard restart the computer.  After that it still hung on start-up.
Eventually, I deleted iTunes and then used "Clean My Mac" to delete a more few more stray files.  Then, I reinstalled iTunes 11.1.1.  After that, it opened with an empty iTunes folder.  The only thing listed was my purchased music from iCloud.  Then, I replaced the default iTunes folder with my original iTunes folder from about a month ago, using Time Machine. That didn't help, it still hung up at start and I had to force quit each time.
I tried going back further in time machine (about 3 months) and the same thing happened. So, I'm pretty sure it's not the library folder.
I also tried repairing permissions with the Disk Utility and that didn't seem to help anything either.
Yesterday a new version of iTunes was released (11.1.2 I believe) so I upgraded to that thinking it would help, but no, I still have the same problem.
Can anyone help me get iTunes working again with my original library?

Where are you looking on the iPad ? Your synced music (and that which you download from iTunes directly on the iPad) should go into the Music app

  • MacBook want start, beeps once, black screen

My 2008 MacBook was beeping 3 times so I took it in, they said I needed a new stick of ram. So I bought a new stick of ram and now my  MacBook has a black screen and beeps once. Please help, this is getting frustrating and the apple store near me is too crowded. I was turning on my computer to download the snow leopard software, so I have the software before that.

One tone or three tones indicate issues with memory.  Did you take your MacBook to an Apple store for diagnosis and buying memory or to an Apple Authorized Service Provider or someone else?
First thing I would do it to reseat the memory ... just pull it out then put it back in. If that doesn't change the symptom, pull the memory card out (assuming you only hve one) and put it in the other slot. If you have two, reverse them. If you have two try one at a time.
Related to your post, you can't download Snow Leopard. You can only obtain it to install via DVD, however, once installed, you can then obrtain the updates online (via Software Update) to take it to 10.6.8 (the latest/last release).

  • MacBook wont start and beep "S-O-S" when I push the power button

My wife's MacBook suddenly quit.  Was working fine one day and dead the next.  Screen is black.  No keys work. Light on charger is green, so battery seems to be charged.  White light on front is steady and not pulsing as it normally does.  When I press the power button the computer beeps S-O-S in Morse code. What's wrong?  Can I fix it myself?  Can the Genius Bar fix it or is it dead for good?  I'm sorry, I don't know what OS it's running (because it won't turn on ...) Thanks!!

Your MacBook definitely needs service. Contact Apple using expresslane.apple.com if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the MacBook in to an Apple retail store or service provider to ask for an estimate.

  • Macbook Pro doesn't starts and only sounds a beep

Does anyone know what to do?

I had this happen before on a fairly NEW macbook pro. Ended up, the hard drive was blown. I just ended up getting a hard drive. It worked for almost a year and then boom I try to start it up and get this. And I tried to reinstall mountain lion, etc, and it'd let me get through the install process which made me think the hard drive DID in fact work. But then as soon as it was reinstalled, boom the hard drive gone again.
I put in a new hard drive. Flawless. No problems. So in my case it was the hard drive. Although many many other people told me it was not the hard drive. If it wasn't, replacing the hard drive fixed it either way.
It had a toshiba branded in it. I put a western digital 1TB in it. Worked great. Now I have an even newer macbook pro, 2012 edition, once again I took out the hard drive and put in SSD's.

  • Macbook not starting up after water spill - beeping sounds

I was cleaning the keyboard with water while it was turned off and accidently spilt about 50-100ml of water onto the keyboard, also accidently turning the computer onto sleep mode at one point. I tried cleaning up the water by letting it drain, but it started coming out of the sides of the computer. That's when the computer started making a strange beeping sound like it was an alarm sound so I quickly pulled the battery out and left it to dry out, took a night for the water to stop dripping out of the sides. In the morning I used a haridryer on coold settings to try and evaporate any remaining water, and tried plugging the power cord in and turning on, but it's not starting up!
My macbook was the 2008 model so it's past warranty, but it's only 2 years old and I really can't afford to buy another one right now because I'm just a poor college student
If anyone has advice on what I could do I would be really greatful...

Have you tried turning the computer on while the computer was plugged in?

  • Won't start and stuck at "Loading ExporterQuick TimeHost.pm"

    Hi,
I just upgraded from CS4 to CS5.5. Been using Premiere for ages, but when I was editing just now it crashed and when I tried to start it up again it loads at stops at "Loading ExporterQuick TimeHost.pm"
I was editing a 720 HD project with 1080 HD .MOV footage and had several clips in my bins. Was a bit slow after a while, so might have been the amount that made it crash. It was working and starting up just fine before the crash and Quick Time is installed and updated.
I've tried starting it up again and again, but with no luck
    Anyone??? Thanks for your time!:D

Thank you Todd Kopriva I did a full uninstallation of Quick Time (even though I had the newest version), cleaned the C-drive for Quick Time related files, installed it again and volà! Back to my film project.
    Thanks!
