MacBook was shut down improperly now it won't boot up, until the battery is fully drained

macbook pro 17 late 2009
last week my Mac shut down because it ran out of battery,so I plugged in charged it, next morning it wouldn't boot. No sounds coming from it at all, not even attempting to boot. I let it sit unplugged, battery drained in about 1 1/2 days, plugged it in, got a little charge, and it rebooted just fine. This morning my son thought it was turned off, hit the power button, and it shut down.... now it won't reboot. Again no sounds coming from it at all. I don't have a day and a half to let it drain out again. Any help is appreciated !

I know that it can be both frustrating and concerning when your computer will not turn on. In this situation I would recommend reading over and working through the troubleshooting steps provided in the attached article.

My I phone 5 got very hot actually boiling hot although it was not exposed to any external heat ...it was fully charged and within 10 minutes it was half charged 50% and within one minute it was shut down ... Tried re charging through the computer and through the power but no response the phone is totally black... Tried connecting to I tunes and no response.. The thing is that I bought the I phone 5 on the 23 rd December 2012 from Manhattan new York and I live in Qatar and there is no service centre in qatar .. I am now without a phone although I paid 706$ and that's a big amount .. I am disappointed .. Well, I checked the iphone and the battery charged going from the bolt to the plug in the upper right hand corner very quickly. On my other cell phones, charging took a REAL long time.
Again, is this normal? I unplugged the iphone from the charger and I am going to monitor the battery power today. I find it odd that the battery would work on standby for 4 days without recharging the battery and then start doing something wacky. Any thoughts?

I recently updated my macbook pro to Maverick, there was another system update so I updated and once I did I noticed that my safari wouldn't quit. I was unable to shutdown. I finally force quit safari and was able to shut down. Now it won't turn back on!

The tabsacross my browser didn't have little x's to close them I neede to right click to close the tab
My safari wouldn't quit. It was keeping me from shutting down my computer so I force quit then shutdown.
Now my computer is having trouble turning on. It stays at the white screen with the gray apple in the middle and the small circular loading bar. and flickers between that and black.
What is wrong? is there anything I can do to get it up and running?? PLEASE PLEASE help!

DESPERATE PLEASE HELP So my mother got herself an iPod touch 5g for Christmas and barely asked me to set it up last night, (BRAND NEW NOT OPENED YET).. I set it up not plugged into iTunes (directly on iPod). I was setting up a new iTunes account for her (got passed Wi-fi set up and location services) and as I was doing that, it mysteriously froze somehow. So I held the home button and power button down simultaneously, which I thought would restart the iPod/shut it down.. so it did, and it was on the apple logo screen for a LONG TIME.. and when I checked after a long time, it was black. I tried to turn it on, charge, and plug it into itunes (iMac computer) and it won't turn on!!!!! PLEASE HELP

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Plugging in USB shuts down computer - now it won't start up

I have this USB cable that connects mics and other instruments to the computer. I'd used it before without a problem - but yesterday I plugged it in and the computer immediately shut down. I was clearing some dust out of the port and the computer started up. I guess some sort of short has taken place.
The bigger problem is that the computer will no longer start up all the way. I get the gray screen with the status wheel - but it doesn't get past that. It will stay there for a half hour if you leave it - but it never fully starts up.
I unpluged all peripherals. I tried the CommandOption+RP, but nothing.
Any ideas how I can get my computer back?

Spilled diluted orange juice on my MacBook Pro now it won't switch on, but the battery indicator is lit up and won't go off. it's been like this for two days now HELP :,-(

Changed access permissions now machine won't boot. Utilising deep breathing techniques until help appears.

Maybe a brain snap but I changed the access permissions on the hardrive to everyone-no access, what do I need to do. After 20 minutes of beachballing I pmowered down, and now it won't boot up, gets stuck on the apple boot up screen. There also exists in permissions another access setting admin-readwrite. Would appreciate some heads up on what I can do (trying not to panic).
