Macbook white missing copying file in bootcamp

After I go to the bootcamp and divided in 2 partition,
I start installed a Windows XP SP2,
firstly it's ran normally,
until it's completed copying file and restart, go to 2nd stage of formatting,
but it still boot on disk and repeatedly copying windows file just like first boot..
After that I tried quit that job and force boot on windows HD bootcamp,
and it's came out with massage: some file missing, "rootboot/system" bla3... something like that.. and "copy this file can solve the this problem"
I tried again and again to format, but still same problem...
using portable CDdrive and Internal, using other XP cd but still the same massage came out..
Help, I need guide and learn.. thanks

I solved the problem by using boot camp assistant to remove my windows partition and create a new one. After that installing win xp from a CD worked just fine. Don't forget to format your bootcamp partition under the setup of win xp again. if not, this might also cause a problem.

  • Copying files to Bootcamp partition

    Hi everybody,
Maybe a silly question, I'm new here , but how to copy files from Mac OS partition to Bootcamp section?
    Thanks,

From within OSx copy the files to an external dvice which is formatted FAT32 or ExFat. Then from within Windows copy the files from the external device to Windows.

  • Why cant i copy file from my macbook to my portable harddrive?

thanks for the kind soul out there.

The easiest way around this is to reformat the external drive to be FAT32 if you want to use it with other PCs, or HFS+ if you only want to use it with Macs. You will lose all the data off the drive when you do this.
You can reformat the drive using Disk Utility.

That's odd - if you open Disk Utility (Applications->Utilities) and select the disk(s), how are they formatted? If you're only going to be used with your Mac, they should be formatted as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".

  • HELP! How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?

    Hi,
I am having a few problems with bootcamp on my imac. When i tried to move the bootcamp partition on windows 7 into free space, it crashed and turned off. Ever since i have had the error 'Missing operating system' and it fails to boot. I have some very important files on the bootcamp partition. Is it possible to recover these files or even to restore the bootcamp partition to it's original state? I do not have a backup of my bootcamp partition. Another problem i have is that ever since i tried to expand my macintosh HD partition into free space, when i hold alt while booting up (to choose which partition to boot like i normally do), the bootcamp partition has stopped appearing. This means that i cannot even boot the windows 7 bootcamp partition anymore!
So basically here are my 2 questions:
How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?
How can i make the Bootcamp partition appear in Startup Disk and when i hold the option key while starting up my computer to allow me to boot windows 7?
Any solutions are very much apreciated!
    Thanks!
I know that bootcamp (disk0s4) hasn't been fully deleted since it appears in disk utility (i cant do anything to it though)
And here is the error i see when i try to launch bootcamp (back when i was actually able to boot up bootcamp to the error screen)

WinClone 3 is OS X and saves Windows image it makes for restore - that should work but you will have to try and you would need to make a new image unless it also works with a native Windows system restore image. It is now supported and has come a long way.

Paragon Clone OS works and does disk-to-disk clone just like CCC you end up with two bootable drives. But does not work with your setup. It would let you clone and move your Windows install to an SSD or another disk drive though and be bootable.
During its clone process it checks for errors which is very helpful and lets you know - something CCC and others should adopt more of.

I wish for our/my sake you had re-read and rewritten the long 'story' and broken it into a brief list of facts we needed.
    OS X
    Windows
Backup (though external is much safer) and you want bootable OS X clones as well as TimeMachine

There are a number of things to do like chkdsk and others as well as Windows DVD to do automatic system repairs and find out why.
AppleHFS - the abilty to mount and read HFS volumes can be notorious.
I would rearrange and redo your storage setup and how you use the 4-5 internal hard drive bays.

I keep on getting this error when i try to copy files to my 2T Time Capsule, Please help im running out of space on my MacBook Pro....
The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)

I would get an external drive today and copy all your stuff off the TC.. forget trying to load more onto it. There is a good chance after 3years (A 2TB should be only about 2years tops), the disk or the TC itself is on the way out. Do it immediately. If TM is also failing to backup you need to recognise symtoms of impending doom.
Unfortunately the error messages are archane and it is hard to discover their meaning.
You also cannot verify a network drive.. you can verify the TM sparsebundle though so do that.
    A5. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
Reboot the whole network from off.. certainly if you run later OS it can simply lose the drive..
If you still fail to be able to copy to the TC.. then get that external and copy off it. Tell us if you can do that.

  • I am unable to copy files from my macbook pro to my external hard disk.

I am unable to copy files from my macbook pro to my external hard disk. I tried to copy a movie 800mb in size to my EDD and  it shows the loading box and it says zero kb loaded out of 800mb and sometimes it loads a a few kb of the file, then after a while it ejects my hard disk and gives a message saying you should have ejected it properly. and it sometimes gives this message
"The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “....” can’t be read or written.
    (Error code -36)".
This happens with a range of files if they are more than a few mb in size, so I am pretty sure its not the file problem. It also occurs sometimes when i try to copy from my EDD to my mac.
I have tried everything. I formatted my EDD to MS-DOS (FAT) format because i need to use it with mac and windows. I tried resetting The SMC and the PRAM and NVRAM. I tried verify and disk repair on disk utility. But the same thing happens over again and it is really frustrating. The problem doesnt happen with my PC.
My EDD is an  Apollo 320GB hard drive from Imation.
Also are there any particular EDD brands that may not have this issue with MACs and can be used on mac and PC?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hey guys,
So this is follow up from my debarkle with the EDD. I found out my problem with copying files from Mac to EDD and vice versa was a result of a not so good EDD ( i had an apollo hard drive from imation) that was not very compatible with macs. So i did my research and found out that the best hard drives were Western Digital and Seagate. I bought the newest western digital EDD 1TB and formated it to FAT32 and guess what...no problems so far. The only problem is that FAT32 format doesn't copy files larger than about 4 gigs so i couldnt copy a movie from my brothers computer onto my EDD that was 1080p. You could probably resolve that by partitioning a small part of your hard drive in ExFAT? but yeah, hopefully that helped guys.

  • I have macbook pro 13" I want to know how to copy files from my mac to the external Toshiba Hard Drive. I can't even delete files from my external hard drive. please help me my macbook HD is almost full and I have to copy my images to the Toshiba HD

I have macbook pro 13" I want to know how to copy files from my mac to the external Toshiba Hard Drive. I can't even delete files from my external hard drive. please help me my macbook HD is almost full and I have to copy my images to the Toshiba HD

To delete files from your external HDD, attach it to your MBP and drag the unwanted files to trash and then empty trash.
Then you select the files that you want to transfer by 'drag and drop' to the external HDD and trash the files on your MBP.
    Ciao.

  • Can't copy files from Macbook to External Hard Drive

    Hi:
I have an external hard drive for backup, works fine at the office with mssoft -- but for some reason I am told by Macbook that I cannot modify the External hard drive when trying to copy files and folders to the drive from the Macbook.
I'm thinking "read only" because I know how to change attribute in Windows - but this is my first MAC (and generally I love it).
HELP -- how do I copy to the External Drive?
    ...Dan

This drive is probably formatted as NTFS for use with the PC.
    Your options are:
    1) Install NTFS-3g on your Mac (available here: http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com/2010/06/ntfs-3g-for-mac-os-x-2010522.html)
    2) Reformat the external drive as FAT32 (you'll have to save the data elsewhere, then use either OS X's Disk Utility to reformat the drive, or use a Windows tool to do the same thing). FAT32 has a 4GB maximum file size limit.
    3) Reformat the drive as HFS+ on the Mac (saving the data elsewhere first) and install MacFuse on the PC. HFS+ does not have a maximum file size limit, but MacDrive is not free.

  • How do i copy files from my macbook pro to my hard drive? These files were previously started on my old dell.

how do i copy files from my macbook pro to my hard drive? These files were previously started on my old dell.

More then likely that external drive is formatted the Windows NTFS format which Mac OS X can Read but it can not Write to that format. So you would need to copy all the data off that drive, to either a Windows PC or to your Mac, thenn use the Mac to format it for the Mac OS. Which would be Mac Extended (Journaled) with a Partition Table of GUID.
If you want to use that drive on both Mac and PC then you would need to format it either FAT32 or exFAT.

Connect USB drive to your MBP, format as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" with a single GUID partition using Disk Utility and copy away.

I've encountered this error myself upon occasion.  If I remember correctly, it was a permissions/ownership issue with the some of the files I was copying.

  • Copied files got corrupted in USB3 external drives connected to Macbook Pro, how to fix it?

I use USB3 connected external hard drives in my Macbook Pro (Yosemite 10.10.1) frequently. I had no problem until two months ago. This week I noticed a lot of corrupted files in one drive. Luckily  I have a backup, and I copied the files. But the files copied recently were mostly corrupted even though source files are fine. I spent a whole day trying with different options, e.g. erasing the drive, using cp, rsync, ditto etc. I figured out that if I copy single file or folder using cp, the copied files are fine, but rsync, ditto or recursive cp or finder's drag and drop results into a lot of corrupted files. I thought this was the hardware related issue of the external drive. But, I was surprised to notice that all files copied without any problem when I used a old macbook (only has USB2 port, and still use Mavericks). Since I have almost 2TB data to write, USB2 is very slow. I am very disappointed to find out that USB3 in Yosemite has caused all these troubles. If anyone has a solution to this problem, Please suggest.

Disk is formatted to Paragon NTFS

It's good to hear the Macbook Pro & the disk is capable of working correctly. The next test would be to try a clean install of OS X & repeat the copy guess. Adding third party drivers for write support makes the picture a little cloudy IMO.
I'm not really sure what else to suggest other than doing some tests & then taking that data to an Apple store. If you are lucky the genius may follow up on it, or if you submit it as bug reports Apple may follow up on it.

At startup hold down the Option/Alt key and from the screen that comes up select your OS X partition to start the computer from. Then use the Boot Camp Assistant app to Remove Windows and the partition you reated for it and it will Automatically place the space you allocated for the Windows install back into the OS X partition.
    NOTE:
Do NOT use Disk Utility to erase the partition that was created for the Windows install. Use the Boot Camp Assistant app again to do that.

  • Hooking up a projector on macbook white running windows XP SP3 via bootcamp

    Dear friends:
I have a question related on how to set a macbook (white) computer to recognize a projector while runnning windows XP SP3 (using bootcamp).
I'm using a mini DVI to VGA adapter.
The first I did was to plug the cable of the projector on the adapter, then I selected second monitor option in display properties (tab settings) and the best I got from there was to extend windows desktop onto the projector, but the thing is that I want to mirror both screens in order to show a full screen presentation on power point.
I played with the screen resolutions of both monitors and I got no success, so I decided to restart the macbook. Initially on both screens from the projector and that of the macbook it appeared the logo of windows xp when booting, but then when the session was started the screen of the projector got black.
I attempted by using F7 key but still got no success.
Could you give me a suggestion on how to solve this problem??, I hope my english was clear so you can understand my problem.
    Best regards.
    Oscar

Oh k thanks alot for your input. I think my only option is running XP through VM Fusion on my Time Capsule like Eric mentioned. I would have loved to exclude Mac OS X from running at all in the background while I'm on Windows since the programs I'm planning to run on Windows are Memory intensive. That's the whole reason I'm trying not to have windows installed on my macbook HD and have it run independently like it would on bootcamp. Thanks for all your help tho.
If anyone has a different suggestion pls feel free to comment. Thanks
