Apple have thrown money in the Blu-Ray camp. And with the success of Blu-Ray in the "format wars", Blu-ray on Mac is inevitable. The real question is when.

Suddenly all of my Office-programs have stopped working and will not launch on my MacBook. They were all already installed when I bought the computer. Installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo will reinstall the App Store for you. Restart your Mac after the combo is installed. It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.8. Then try launching the app.

Bouncing logo icon in dock, but will not launch
For some unknown reason, both my Photoshop and Indesign CS3 programs (running on my PowerBook Titanium) will not launch. Both logo icons bounce in the dock for a few seconds, then stop without any windows diplaying...
Anone here experience the same issue?... or is this just a clever way of Adobe pushing you toward yet another upgrade?
Thanks!Have you tried resetting the program preferences? Hold down Ctrl+Option+Shift+Command as you launch InDesign. It's a long shot, I guess.

Macbook will not get wifi signal when docked into hedge dock station
My Macbook will not get a wifi signal, whenever docked into the Hedge Dock Station. It will however, get the signal when out of the station. It worked for months before.
Wi-Fi is not Bluetooth. If you are using the phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot, then you connect to it using Wi-Fi, not Bluetooth. There's no Bluetooth pairing involved.
Turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot feature on your phone.
On the Mac, open System Preferences and click on the Network icon.
Select "Airport" in the left pane and then click the "Turn AirPort On" button.
Select the name of your phone in the drop-down next to "Network Name".
Provide the password you setup for the network on your phone.
It's nice to have the ability to turn the Wi-Fi on and off in the menu bar rather than have to open System Preferences each time. You can click the checkbox next to "Show AirPort status in menu bar" in the Network pane to do just that. -

Quit Safari. Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library". Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist and move that file to your Desktop. Relaunch Safari.

What do you do when a download will not launch?
have a macbook pro, early 2008 and tried to download free trial of scrivener writing software but when i click on it from the applications folder the symbol appears on the dock and bounces. i answer that i want to accept it but it will not launch. on a relaunch it says that the software failed to respond.
check your system specs and see if you can run it otherwise try redownloading it

Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard (Mac OS) works fine except for Bridge which will not launch from Photoshop or from Applications, after 2 Uninstall/Reinstalls,and same attempts with new user account. Can anyone help?

You are right. A couple of years ago, I had transferred all MacBook contents (including Photoshop Elements) to a new iMac. A freeze up of the new computer resulted (at Apple's suggestion) in using the old user account (from the MacBook). When I installed the Adobe Creative Suite this fall, Bridge would not launch. After days of frustrating troubleshooting and searching the web in vain, the case with Adobe escalated to Level 3; I spent over 4 hours on the phone with an Adobe expert (in Manila!) before this was solved by creating a new virgin account created (with nothing except the basic iMac software and the Adobe Suite on it. Gun shy of any further adjustments or migrations, I decided to keep the new user account strictly for my Creative Suite work. End of problem. Thanks for getting back to me, and Merry Christmas!

Safari will not launch. The icon in the dock bounces, the menu bar appears for a few seconds and then the "Quit unexpectedly" message appears. Being connected or not connected to the internet via my dial up connection doesn't matter. I have tried deleting files as suggested in other responses, repaired permissions, reinstalled security update 2009-002, trashed all things Safari and reinstalled - nothing makes a difference. Fire fox also quits every day or so but Opera hasn't yet. I got it launched today for a few minutes, then it crashed and won't launch again.
I have 7.41 GB free of 38.15 GB capacity, 640 MB RAM.

You fill find them in one or either of these folders:

although the exact location is indicated in your crash report as quoted above - look under 'Binary Images'.
Close Safari and delete them, then restart Safari and it should be working normally. Alternatively drag them to the desktop and restart Safari. then add them back one at a time, restarting Safari every time, until you find the one (or more) causing the crash.
Check with the developers of the plug-ins in question for updates that are Safari 4 compliant. -
After upgrading from iTunes 4 to 6, iTunes will not launch at all. Neither will the new version of Quicktime 7 that I installed at the same time. After clicking on the iTunes icon in the dock, the icon bounces once, but the application will not launch or respond to any command but Force Quit. Does anybody have an idea why this is happening? I'm also on OS10.3.9
SOLUTION FOUND for iTunes not opening after upgrade to 6.0.1!
This took a lot of time and effort and the expertise of 2 long-time, devoted Mac users! Apple could not even come up with this. As I said in earlier posts, I believed it to be a code issue in the upgrade program, and so it seems. The upgrade doesn't delete the old iTunes version's "preferences" as it should, thus creating a conflict.
Here goes the solution:
-Close out of all applications running
-In your Finder go to the 'Go' menu and slide down to 'Home" and open it
-Double click on the 'Library' folder to open it
-Double click on the 'Preferences' folder to open it
-Change 'View' for all this folder's contents to 'list' format to make the next step easy:
-Drag "com.apple.iTunes.plist" AND "com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist" to the trash
-Close all windows and try starting iTunes from the dock. If you have no iTunes icon in the dock, open your applications folder off your hard drive, find the iTunes application. Click once on the iTunes icon and drag a copy of it to the dock. Once it's in the dock, click on it. It should open as a new version of iTunes (set-up) allowing you to transfer/organize your music, and so-forth.

I have updated to Yosemite and iTunes 12.01 on a MacBook Pro. All find except iTunes will not launch. It just flashes and nothing happens. I booted in Safe mode and tried - no good. Also reinstalled iTunes but still nothing. Connected my iPhone and still no iTunes.
Anyone any ideas?Other people seem to be having the same problem.
There was a solution posted in another thread.
1) Remove iTunes. Instructions can be found here: http://www.tekrevue.com/tip/uninstall-itunes/
2) Reinstall iTunes. It can be downloaded here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If that doesn't work, I fixed the problem on my system (before seeing the above instructions) by installing Yosemite on an external drive, then booting from the external drive and copying the iTunes app from the new install back over to the main system. This will be version 12 so you will need to go through the normal update process again to get the latest version.

Apple programs, Help, Mail, iTunes, Safari, Quicktime will not launch.
Recently we downloaded some upgrades from Apple and now Help, Mail, iTunes, Safari and Quicktime will not launch. The icon dances on the dock, and the operating system records the program as having opened, but the program does not come up and the icon menu on the dock still displays open rather than quit. I have tried re-installing the programs to no avail.

My iTunes stopped working after I did a couple of software updates that got my iTunes up to v. 11.4. Since that update, I can't get iTunes to open at all, neither from my dock nor from the Applications menu.
I'm wondering: Perhaps these latest iTunes updates are simply too advanced for my 10.6.8 operating system? If that's the case, how can I backtrack to an earlier version of iTunes that is compatible with my computer OS?
