Macbook with Vista Aero + Vista versions

Hi, I've been a long time PC user but I'm about to purchase the 13-inch (white) 2.0ghz macbook model with 2gb ram. I have a few questions:
a) Macbook and Aero; does it run since macbook doesn't use a dedicated vid card? Are there any driver issues involved here?
b) Is it possible to install vista home premium (non-upgrade OEM) under bootcamp?
Many thanks for your help.

While the MacBook does not have a dedicated video card it does have a a dedicated video processor; the Intel GMA 950 / 945, which is capable of DirectX 9.0c and hence Aero. Apple's Boot Camp software provides BIOS emulation, allowing any version of Windows to run, as well as partitioning your hard drive without loss of data (non-destructive). Boot Camp will also burn a CD with drivers for the hardware within your MacBook (not ordinarily supported by Windows). I've found it to be unreliable as far as bluetooth is concerned running Windows XP. Windows Vista Advisor software indicates that those drivers will work fine with any 32-bit version of Windows Vista.

  • Macbook with vista ultimate virtual machine

I have checked the forums of the virtual machine I have called Virtualbox. I installed Vista Ultimate on my macbook and am liking it so far but i cannot seem to get the internet to work. When i look in my preferences pane in Virtualbox it tells me to choose between "none" or Nat. I choose NAT but i still cannot connect. please if anyone has any answers as to where i can get a driver for vista for my wireless card in my late 2007 Macbook.

I'm running a late '07 MB with Parallels and Vista Home Premium. To be truthful, I don't load Vista very often. However, from the get-go, my internet connections worked immediately after I installed Vista with the default setup.
I'm not familiar with Virtualbox. I just googled it and it appears to be a new program with perhaps not the support you need.
Have you given any thought to trying BookCamp? I don't know if that would require another installation of Vista or not. I'm guessing it probably would.

  • Is it possible to upgrade to Lion if I have a 2008 o 2009 Macbook with OS X 10.5.8?

I have a 2008 or 2009 Macbook with Mac OS X version 10.5.8. I recently bought a new Mac but want to download iCloud so I can save everything from the one I have now. The research I've done says you have to have OS X Lion to use iCloud. My question is can I download Lion with my current software?

    Yes. See:
    Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Can I use my 2TB WD My Book Essential for the Time Machine feature on the MacBook as well as two other Windows computers (one running 7 and one with Vista)?

Can I use my 2TB WD My Book Essential for the Time Machine feature on the MacBook as well as to store information from two other Windows computers (one running 7 and one with Vista)?

Yes you can but you need to partition the drive into at least 2 separate drives.
To do that you need to use a Windows PC to do the first partitioning. Say you split the drive into two partitions each 1TB (or close to 1TB) each.
Partition fand format both partitions on a Win PC as one NTFS and the other FAT32.
Then move it to the Mac and Reformat the FAT32 partition Mac Extended (Journaled) with a GUID Partition Table.
I have that same drive and that is what I did originally with it. I now have it just for the Mac as I have other externals for the Win systems.
    Good Luck.

  • NAT issue - WRT54G Version 1.1 with Vista Home Premium

    Router = WRT54G Version 1.1
I am trying to figure out the cause of my problems, this router or Vista?
I have 2 PC’s (just want to use my Vista 1) connected to the same router that is connected to a cable modem – the Windows XP machine has no problems bar its age and spec. I have a brand new PC with Vista Home Premium installed on it, now it is this new PC that I am having NAT problems with and port blocking.
I have installed Windows Live Messenger and when setting it up I went into Tools/Options/Connections and I get an error message:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. The Windows Firewall is enabled. (User)"
I have no option to run the trouble shooter (greyed out)…….
If I turn off Windows Vista Firewall I get:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. (User)”
Since this I have installed Media server software and have to reset the port it uses every time as it is always stating that it is blocked.
I have downloaded OpenOffice via a torrent client which also stated that I had NAT problems.
I have no NAT issues at all on my older XP PC and as a result I believe it is safe to rule out my router and modem……..I have only disabled Windows Firewall and this had made no difference, but I have not tried uninstalling it (no idea if that would make a difference)
Oh, I do not have UPnP enabled (router setting) – does this matter (I have tried turning it on but made no difference to this issue so I turned it off again)?

    Hi,
got it fixed! My Son had both files on his Win7 iTunes installation. Never mind he had no issues whith ths iTunes and iPhone Sync. So I checked my other Win XP PC, where I don't have this problem syncing my ipad, and surprise. Both files do NOT show up on this PC. So I renamed the iTunesPhotoProcessor.exe I found under c:\program file\iTunes and synced again my iPhone and it went through without any error. So the problem might be and unremoved iTunesPhotoProcessor.exe or the missing iTunesPhotoProcessor.dll under the iTunes install root folder and this even if I had checked that the folder was completely removed during iTunes unistall.
Please try yourselve and just rename the iTunesPhotoProcessor.exe to iTunesPhotoProcessor.exe_ under c:\program file\iTunes or get a copy of the missing iTunesPhotoProcessor.dll and cp to c:\program file\iTunes.

  • MacBook Pro sleep problems with Vista SP1

Has anyone faced sleep problems on a MacBook Pro after installing Vista SP1?
I run Boot Camp 2.0 with the latest update from Apple.
IDT finally issued a compatible Vista driver for my Sigmatel audio.
I was very happy for the first time running Vista on my Apple when I had the stupid idea to upgrade to SP1.
After days of troubleshooting with Windows support it is obvious that SP1 and my MacBook Pro are incompatible for some obscure reasons. The latest time I tried SP1 was through Windows Update, which means that Windows detected no compatibility issues, such as drivers.
I suspect Apple-in-sight driver without any evidence, just a hint.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Hibernation seems iffy. Have you tried disabling hibernation? and when you say sleep, what happens? won't wake or what?
Normally I don't recommend resetting NVRAM or SMU but for sleep you might want to.
And yes, trying to rule out why can be difficult. But I would not blame SP1. Maybe BC 2.1.
Do you have a book dealing with Vista? or looked for articles or forums that deal with Vista? There is one for Vista64 - assume you have 32-bit though. Google is often best way to find things in Apple discussions or knowledge base, too.

  • Which version of Adobe Acrobat Pro is compatible with Vista operating system? how to buy it?

I tried to install Acrobat Pro XI on my laptop; but it failed to install because I have Vista operating system. Am I dead in the water, or is there a way to install an earlier version on my machine?

    Hi nirbhay,
You can purchase Acrobat Pro subscription and install it on Vista OS.
Please check : Tech specs | Adobe Acrobat XI Pro
The earlier versions Acrobat 9 and 10 are compatible with Vista but they are no longer available for purchase.

  • What version is compatible with Vista?

What verion of Adobe Reader is compatible with Vista?

If you read the Release Notes for 10.x carefully, you will find that the only Windows version that was dropped from support is Windowx XP (in 10.1.12).  Vista is still fully supported.
Regarding the "crapware": there are a few good alternate PDF viewers out there; the piece of software that you mentioned is not one of them.
I have tested that software since version 1.0, and each time they sneaked spyware onto my system.  In the first version they didn't even bother to mention it.  In version 2 they gave the user a choice, but installed the spyware anyway, without the possibility to uninstall.  I gave up testing that software after version 4.
So it's you that needs to use a very good antivirus product.  (Well, everybody should, actually.)

  • Which Vista version with product-key?

I know that some brands, has there own product-keys wich don't work on a regular OEM version of Vista. Is that also the case with Toshiba?
On the bottom of my X200-21r laptop is the sticker with my product-key. So I want to know if I can use it with any OEM Vista CD/DVD?

    > know that some brands, has there own product-keys wich don't work on a regular OEM version of Vista. Is that also the case with Toshiba?
The Toshiba notebooks are preinstalled and delivered with the Toshiba own image.
The image contains the Windows OS (XP or Vista), Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.
The preinstalled Windows (XP or Vista) are already activated and its not necessary (not possible) to enter the serial key!
    > On the bottom of my X200-21r laptop is the sticker with my product-key. So I want to know if I can use it with any OEM Vista CD/DVD?
This key doesnt work with another OEM Vista versions. It belongs to the Toshiba OEM version which is preinstalled on your notebook!!!

  • Problem USB soundbar thinkvision (40Y7616) in combination with Vista + latest version Skype

I use the soundbar for skype calls. I never had problems.
I have upgraded skype from 4.0.0.150 to 4.1 (newest version). As soon as the soundbar is activated by Skype, a nasty montone sound is produced. I can only solve it when installing the old Skype version back agian.
A friend has the same soundbar but he has XP. He does not have any problem with the new Skype version.
I assume the problem is with Skype, but because of lack of urgency en lack of service from Skype, I hope somebody can help me here.
    What can be the reason?
    What is the solution?

Hi, I have exactly the same problem on Windows 7 home. Skype only works when using the internal Loudspeakers on my M57p Desktop (or via headset connected directly to the tower). When using the USB Soundbar I only hear a shrill sound out of the loudspeakers. My assumption is that the driver is crap.
By the way: In the Win7 control panel (under System -> Device manager) the Soundbar appears as "b-flex audio device" from iLab. It seams that the driver integrated in Win7 is a 3rd party product.

  • Need advice in which route to take with Vista install a

I have been scouring the forums gathering all sorts of do's and don'ts, but still would like some advice.
I have an iMac (early 2006) w/ 1.5GB ram running Tiger 10.4.11 (never downloaded beta BC) and a MacBook 2.16GHz w/ 1GB ram running Leopard 10.5.2. I recently bought Vista Home Premium OEM - my options are VMFusion on iMac or Bootcamp on laptop? I am a little hesitant because of the OEM version, which I did not pay attention to when I bought it at a computer show. It is 32-bit, thank god. I know the ram is weak on the MacBook but planning to upgrade to 2 soon. My main reason for Windows is for a few programs, no gaming. I wish I would of payed more attention to the fact it was OEM, now if one install goes to the toilet and need to reinstall on another computer..I will be on the phone w/ Microsoft till I am 90!
Thanks in advance for any advice!
    Andrea

I took the plunge and used Bootcamp on my MB because Intuit does not support their products using VM's and the primary reason I wanted Windows was for Quicken 2008. The installation went flawlessly and I am up and running with Vista and no phone calls to India..pheww!

  • Can't video chat with vista user.......

Hi- today my sis and I tried to video chat. She had a computer guru there to try and get it to work but it seems as though that since she got a new HP computer with Vista, we can't video chat. The guru asked me to download Messenger Live ID which I did but then it said I needed to download Qwest Messenger and the link to it didn't work. So then he asked I download CamFrog. Got it installed. I could see and hear them but they couldn't see or hear me. I even disabled the firewall and my WEP protection- the guru says the issue of not being able to see or hear me is a problem at my end. I enabled the microphone too. I saw that it was registering when I talked. So is the problem at my end or theirs? I am hoping it's not at my end but I said that I would check the Apple Discussions forum to see what could be going on. My husband and I can video chat- he on his MacBook, me on my MBP. Anyway, I would really, really appreciate any help. I have downloaded Skype and am willing to give that a try- just gotta convince my sis to download it too. Thanks in advance for the help, Judy

I am trying to install a hp officejet 4215 all in one on a HP  Pavilion slimline with Vista, I log in under myself and  I am an administrator, When I run the cd to install it shows that I need to be logged in as administrator, any help out there ?

I am not sure why the HP software needs to recognize your airport. That's a function of the OS. Can you be more specific about the problem you are having? Do you have some screen shots? Is the Macbook connected to the router?
If the HP printer can't recognized the router, that's a different story. You'll need to plug the Macbook into the printer (by cable) to config it (that's typical). You may need to assigne the printer its own static IP address (which I would advise doing anyway). That way you can always find it and it will make setting up network printers on other computers a bit easier.

Have you tried installing it anyways and see what happens?
