Macbook without start up sound

Good morning everyone.
I´ll tell you a little about my problem. I have a macbook 13" mid 2010 mod A1342. Last week, after cleaning with a cleaning foam for PC´s, I think i used so much foam into the keyboard, because i started up and wont start, i let pass time and tried to start up, it started but some keys was in dead short, and the laptop turns off, i cleaned again with fairly isopropyl alcohol in the entire surface and the back of the keyboard, i wait for it to dry for 2 days and the in tried again, the mac start and works fine without pushing any key, but some key was making dead short, i was using my iphone as a wireless keyboard the trackpad works fine.
Consulting with an apple tech center they pdiagnosed the keyboard probably was in dead short and but i have to left them to a entire diagnose.
I buy the piece(upper case) and i replaced by my self (i´m a desktop support techinician for mac and windows), the macbook works fine again with all the keys including mutimedia keys. but the start up sound was gone, now the sound is very low, the speakers works fine i probe it whit de audio midi config. app, i disconnect the speaker off the board, the spearkers of the keyboard works fine but with a very low sound, when i put a headphone or an external speakers the soud works very fine and with a hig volume.
Due to the constant reebots without turn off properly, the volume(image) of the mac was corrupt, i´ve tried to repair it with the Disc Utility app but the volume was very damaged, i tried to reinstall preserving my files but there´s no oprtion for that , the only option was a clean installation. i think a clean installation fix the trouble, but the sound was the same, after installing all the updates to this day, the result was the same. In the information menu displays onboard sound, in the prefs pane the output have onboard sound to play sounds, i configured into the audio and midi app the stereo option, bunt the sound is still low.
I don´t think the problem was the logic, beacuse it plays sound into headphones and the internal speaker and the keybooard speaker, the problem is only the startup sound gone and the level of the sound is very low (sound like a cell phone). i tried to reset the PRAM, in the faqs apple say that i have to hear 2 startups sounds and the i have to realease the pushed keys, but in my case there´s no sound, the laptop restart as they say, but without sound, i´m not sure if the PRAM was restored or not, i push the keys (cmd+op+p+r) turn the MB it try to start the a little bit reboot by it self, tyr to start, again reboot by it self, but without sound, if i keep pushing the keys the procees won´t stop, if i release the keys the macbook start fine(without sound), but i not sure if the PRAM was restored.
I hope anyone can help me.

i also got this kind of problem recently. i was connected to a speaker n the start up sound just didnt come out till i plugged out the speaker jack. this happen after i finished reinstalling my mac os x (snow leopard) including the updates. the condition worsen by having a delay when i started up my mbp for the 3rd or 4th times. the screen just black n i got a delay for 3 to 4 seconds till finally i heard the start up sound back n see the apple logo n the loading gear came out. i later restarted the mbp again to see whether the same problem occurs bt somehow it didnt. weird things happen to my mbp these days.. what should i do? any suggestion? :O

  • Macbook-After start up sound white screen persists!!!!!!!

Help is urgently required. My macbook began to operate a little slow, e.g. spinning rainbow whenever I tried to operate anything. As a result I held power button to turn the computer off but when I tried to turn it back on (after the usual start up tone sounds) all I get is a white screen. I've tried inserting the start-up disc and holding down 'C' but nothing happens for at least a minute or two (as if the keyboard isn't functioning, e.g. cannot turn caps button on) after which CD spits out again.
    Help???!!!

    HI,

  • For starting macbook without battery, is there any option in OS??

    Hi
Unfortunately i m not able to start my macbook without battery.
My question is that is there any option in operating system which i suppose to on for this or it doesn't required any OS interaction!!??
    Regards

Your MacBook will reduce the processor speed while it is operated with the battery out of it. See Mac Support article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2332 and http://www.gearlog.com/2008/11/applenotebooks_take_hugeperf.php

So, about a week ago my macbook pro started having lots of issues: wifi connectivity, slow performance, sound issues, spotlight wasn't working. After going through the issues with apple support, they decided the best course of action was to erase the hard drive and do a reinstall. Since I have a recent backup this seemed like a good enough option. They were kind enough to send me a copy of the snow leopard disk to do the install since we couldn't get it to complete through the disk utility. Not sure why, since it says we are fully connected, it just never completed.
Anyway, so now that you have the background here is the new issue. The macbook pro keeps spitting out the disk I'm trying to install from. Disk utility and using the 'Startup Disk' function from the apple menu doesn't read the disk.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this vexing problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Jeremy.Laurin,
have you tried agb76’s approach here?

  • MacBook will not power on and no start up sounds

My MacBook will not power on despite having a fully charged battery and the power cord has a green light. I used all of the support suggestions online and spoke with an apple care rep. I was told that it seemed as though it was a power flow issue- the power button is not responding properly. I was also told that it doesn't seem like it is affecting my hard drive since there are also no start up sounds.
My question is, is this problem fixable if I choose to sell the MacBook? And how costly is the solution?

Sorry about Necroing a 1 year old thread but I am having the same issue with the same Model. Laptop went dead overnight, no led indicator of power. Opened the laptop and tested the AC adapter. I get 19.5V exit on the cable. Tested the power connector on the motherboard and getting the same voltage. Capacitator to not seem damaged. Any suggestion on how to troubleshoot this further? I love that laptop

  • How can I start up my macbook without using the power button ?

    Hi guys,
I think my macbook's keyboard/trackpad/power have died. I was wondering if there's anyway to start up my macbook without the power button, I was thinking about an external keyboard that would hae a power button on it, I don't know ...
I have not used my Macbook for the past 4 days and i think it's making me sick ...
    Thanks !

    hey,
So i bought a G3 keyboard with the power button and i just received it but my macbook still doesn't want to start up.
It's pretty strange because my macbook was still running when the top case died and I had to unplug it cause i couldn't shut it down so I was sure that buying this keyboard would make it work but it doesn't. I am wondering if it could be from the power button that would be died cause when i push it, it doesn't feel like the one on my macbook . It's pretty hard to explain but could someone tell my how it supposed to be when i push the power button . On my keyboard it just goes down and goes up without doing anything...
I'm pretty sad cause I haven't used my macbook for weeks and i'm started thinking it will never start up again ...
    Thanks

Macbook Air starts with a white screen and permanent "poing"-sound...
Tried SMU, PRAM, MMU resets, but nothing helps...
    Thank you for your support.

You need to take it in for service, it may be a stuck key or component failure.

  • Silence the start up sound?

I often find myself in the library wanting to use my macbook but i always know the last time i had it on i had the volume turned up and so when i press the power button that beautiful start up sound will come blaring out of the speakers which is really quite embarassing when everyone else is in silence!
is there a way to stop the start up sound playing without having muted the volume the previous time i used it?
(i don't want to turn the start up sound off completely just when i'm in a quiet place!)

hmm... people don't really seem to be understanding
    the question...

  • My macbook pro is freezing/sound won't work

A few days ago my Macbook pro started freezing up and requiring a forced power off each time. Sometimes the screen would go completely white, other times the cursor would still move but the display was broken and unable to be clicked. It happens at random intervals, sometimes without me even running any programs it will freeze up and go to a blank screen. A lot of times it takes a few consecutive tries to actually restart it in the first place.
Anyway, I contacted Apple Support Chat and the employee helped me to Repair the Disk Permissions which provided a temporary fix. After it kept acting up later, I followed her instructions to do both a PRAM reset and SMC reset. However, after performing both of those today now my screen has gone dark blue a few times and also the sound won't work with or without headphones.
    Could someone please help me?

  • My macbook pro started acting strange after a safari reset. the mouse no longer: animates the dock, activates hot corners or selects pages from the 'top sites' page.

my macbook pro started acting strange after a safari reset.
the mouse no longer: animates the dock, activates hot corners or selects pages from safari 'top sites' (without a hassle). attempts to reset dock and hot corners from preferences has been fruitless
the mouse also gets 'stuck' in logic precipitating force quits.
i run osX 10.6.8 on a 2007 macbook pro that has had 2 motherboards replaced autumn 2010.
my troubleshooting has been: restart, pRam and safe boot, also checking a 'test' account to find the same issues extant.
pRam restart caused airport to quit and say there is no airport card, and wouldn't respond untill another reboot.
macbook pro 15" 2.4 GHz intel core duo.2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
i have treated this book with care, yet run logic pro studio to the limit of this book's abilities.
    what shoud i do?

You don't say which year you have, however...
...there are known problems with the mid-2010 models (see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) as well as early and late 15" 2011 models (see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4766577?tstart=0).
Apple has taken ownership of the problems with the 2010 model but, unfortunately, the free logic board replacement for that model has probably long expired for you - three years after date of purchase.
One the 2011 models Apple has admitted no defect. You'll just have to skim the articles to get an overview of the problems that people are having (usually showing up as screen glitches at first and then going downhill from there).
    Good luck,

  • Installed windows 7 64 bit on my macbook .. but now got my macbook without audio. please help me!

Installed windows 7 64 bit on my macbook .. but now got my macbook without audio. please help me!

You most likely installed Windows 7 in EFI mode. Can you confirm this?
If you used Bootcamp Assistant to partition your drive, you did not install in EFI mode.
If you selected "EFI Boot" at the boot menu before installing Windows, you started the EFI Boot installer.
Please let us know whether or not you installed in EFI mode because audio not working is a common problem in EFI mode, but should not appear in normal BIOS mode. (Normal BIOS mode is when you used Bootcamp assistant)

  • My MacBook Pro internal speakers sound like they are playing through the headphone jack, why is this? How can I fix it?

Periodically, the sound from my MacBook Pro speakers cuts out to where it sounds as if I am just blasting music through a pair of headphones.  The start up sounds and even some normal sounds coming from my computer are at the regular balanced speaker level.  I sometimes use external speakers and have not had this problem with them.  This has been happening more and more lately, and for longer periods of time. I'm running 10.7.5

What frame rate/frame size/codec did you record?
How did you transfer it into FCX?
