Macbook won't allow access to hotmail

hi,
i've recently purchased a macbook and am in general very pleased with it, however I have found that I cannot access my web based hotmail email. i can log onto msn fine, and i can even see the emails i've received on the msn website, however whenever i try and click on the link to inbox or type in the web address or infact go through any link to hotmail it just redirects between serveral pages until it eventually doesn't load!
anyone else had this problem? any ideas what could be wrong?
also on the risk of sounding completely stupid, how do you know which operating system you're on seeing as i don't have the manual to hand?
any help much appreciated!

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The httpmail plugin offers Hotmail through Mac OS X Mail:

  • HT4061 iphone is disabled and won't allow access with itunes, i can't get it to open up so i can restore it.  Help please

can someone please help me. my grandson accidently locked his iphone. i have try to reconnect it with itunes in order to restore it. But it won't do anything except have screen showing ipphone disable connect to itunes when i do itunes says please allow access to iphone. what do i need to do it when i try to open it shows emergencey calls only nothing else will open up. please help me reset his iphone please.

You have to put the phone into recovery mode before you can restore it. First, turn the phone off. Second, while holding down the home button, connect the phone to the computer, and keep holding down the home button until you see the iTunes logo on the face of the phone (this is recovery mode). Next you should see a message on iTunes on your computer say something like "in order to use this phone you have to restore it from recovery mode.." This will allow you to access your phone! Hope this helps.

  • My Macbook won't allow me to delete files that's in my trash! ㅠㅠ

    Info about my MaBook
    OS X Yosemite (Version 10.10)
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014)
Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
So basically my Macbook won't let me delete things off my hard drive. I'm quite new to MacBook (I got it a week ago) and I've just realised that when you have a hard drive, when you delete things off it, you have to drag it to trash and then "secure empty trash it." Whenever I do that "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items" pops up and I don't know what to do!
    I haven't broken it right?
I don't know if this is useful but the hard drive I am using is "G-Technology G-DRIVE Mobile USB 3.0 1 TB External Drive - Special Edition," I got it from Apple... err here's the link - http://store.apple.com/uk/product/HF113ZM/A/g-technology-g-drive-mobile-usb-30-1 -tb-external-drive-special-edition?fnode…
I don't know if this is helpful either but I also re-formated the hard drive into ExFAT

You really don't need to do "secure Empty Trash." Just empty the Trash. If you don't have permission to access some items that means you shouldn't be trying to delete them or you are trying to delete a file you don't own.
If your external drive is used only on your Mac, then it should not be formatted ExFAT. It should be prepared as follows:
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Try restarting the computer. Then again try to Empty the Trash. Do you still get the error? What are you trying to delete?

  • My computer won't shut down or restart b/c it says that I need to close Safari.  However, my Macbook won't allow me to shut down Safari.  How do I resolve this?

How do I get my Macbook Pro to shut down.  It won't allow me to, b/c it says that Safari needs to close.  However, Safari is closed, and when I re-open Safari to try to Quit Safari, it isn't in bold to allow me to Quit.  How do I resolve this issue?

    Wait.
When Force Quit window appears, select the application if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window.

  • Set up Wi-Fi correctly on iPad with Netgear Router WNR 2000 but it won't allow access to the internet?

I have a Netgear WNR 2000 wireless router and I have set up my iPad 2 to recieve the Wi-Fi Network correctly as it says I am connected to this network and the signal strenght is fine but when I try to access the internet through Safari, iTunes, etc. it says I am not connected to the internet.  Is it possible there is some conflict between the iPad and this router?

Despite the WiFi sign you may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address when the iPad requested it. To check on this go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address shown starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix for this can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages. There have been several firmware updates to the Netgear WNR 2000 router. You can get the latest firmware here:
    http://support.netgear.com
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), MAC filtering enabled, etc.
Also test your iPad on some other networks. If it has problems connecting there it might have a hardware problem.

  • IPhone 4 crashed, blank screen, broken home button, and iTunes won't allow access unless I "respond with phone," how do I reboot or get my data off this phone?

The power button on my iPhone broke a few months ago, so I have been using the assisted touch feature to lock the screen.  Last night, in the middle of using an app, the phone froze and nothing working except the assisted touch icon (I could use it and move it around). I locked the screen using this, which evidently was a mistake, because now I have a blank screen that won't respond to anything. When I connect the charger, the phone still makes the normal sounds and vibrations, but the screen is blank.  I can't do a hard reboot without the power button.  I recently bought a new computer, so today I downloaded iTunes, but iTunes wants me to "respond with the phone" in order to continue.  How can I at LEAST upload my contacts, photos and video from this phone?  Or is there a trick I can try to bring it back from this black screen that is non-responsive?  And NO...I'm not interested in putting it in the freezer!!

Honestly the hard really right now to say what you can do. How long have you had the device? If it's under a year you can take it to apple store and they can switch it out for free. If it's over a year then it would be at a paid cost cause they can't fix that issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • I click *disable protection on this page* from the shield icon and it closes the window, it won't allow access to this http&https site but I know & trust it.

I am going to a website I trust. I launch the link, the page comes up blank with the padlock icon with a message that says Firefox has blocked content this isn't secure. I know the site is https but has some http content. I click the *disable protection on this page* button, but it doesn't allow the site to resolve. It closes the page. How do I get the site to resolve, especially since I know & trust the site?

Can you please give the link to that site so I can test it.

  • ITunes won't allow access to library

Yesterday, iTunes was working fine. However, when I just plugged my iPod in, iTunes had absolutely NO songs/videos/ANYTHING, and said that I should either erase the stuff on my iPod, or cancel.
I tried to import my library, but it gives me this message:
The file "itunes library.itl" cannot be imported because it does not appear to be a valid exported file
However, just a few moments ago, it told me that I didn't have permission to access it.
Other than iTunes ******* up, my computer is completely normal and has no issues. And iTunes manages to **** up royally for me; sound issues, no video playing, random freezing, etc. And now this.
Is there ANY way I can recover my library?? I have most of the songs on my comp, but I'll lose my ratings, all my playlists, all my podcasts, all my information (playcounts, random info I edited about the songs), etc. And it'll be a time-consuming pain in the *** to re-do everything..
Any suggestions? Please? Has anything of this happened to you guys before?
I found my iTunes library.xml, but it is TOTALLY blank, except for having 50 empty, default playlists (yes, literally fifty. Maybe more.) Nothing happens when I try to import that.
Sorry for ranting, but I'm somewhat frustrated.

This just happened to me the other day. First, get rid of the XML and .itl files- delete them or move them to the desktop or something. Then look for a folder called "Previous iTunes Libraries" and (with iTunes closed) copy the most recent one to wherever the XML file you just deleted was, changing the name to "iTunes Library." When you open iTunes again, it should use the XML file from the previous library. It's not a perfect solution, but it's better than starting completely over. You can check it against your iPod to figure out what needs to be changed.

  • My macbook won't allow me to add music the rainbow circle just keeps spinning

    I need help

What MacBook Pro model? What OS is running? Where are you adding the music from? Where are you adding the music to? How much space is on your hard drive?

  • I deauthorized my 2 Macs, how do I get them reauthorized? I can't access my music, it's in the cloud and won't allow access unless computer is authorized.

I deauthorized all computers from iTunes to get rid of an old computer.  Now I cannot get my current 2 Macs re-authorized, hence cannot play my music.... it is in the cloud and will not play because the computers are "not authorized."  I am not getting an option to authorize either of my computers in my iTunes account. Is there a function elsewhere in the computer that gets the iTune authorizations?

It's done via the Store drop-down menu e.g.

  • How can I install a driver for HP Laserjet P3005. My mac won't allow installation?

My macbook won't allow em to install the driver for HP Laserjetp3005. Any ideas?

Apple suppies all the drivers for all the printers that work with any specific os x version. Just go to the Print & scan section of system preferences and Add Printer (Plus ( + ) Sign) and if it is supported the driver will be there.

  • Why cobook not allowed access to address book

I installed cobook on my ipod.  That works fine.
But the cobook version on my iMac shows up on the menu bar with no contacts, and it says contacts won't allow access to Cobook.
To get the iMac app to run, do I have to uninstall it on the ipod and re-install it on iMac first?

Thanks for your information, Phani, but the main question is not resolved:
Can I read out the entries from my address book?
I want to access to my addresses and to send them to a servlet.
    Is this possible at all?
