MacBook won't boot up and it won't respond to charger.

I have a MacBook Pro 2013, and it was working fine until yesterday. I tried connecting my iPod to the Mac and it shut down as soon as I plugged in the USB. I got a message on my iPod saying that the USB could not be trusted and that it could harm my laptop. My Mac hasn't been turning on ever since and it won't even respond to my charger. What should I do?

Reset the SMC. If that does not work, take it in for testing/diagnosis.

the disc is spinning and I see the apple on the screen with the spinning gear and after a while it just turns off OR the few times it does get past that point when I go into disc utility it tells me that it can not install on this machine!
It's driving me crazy, please help!!!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
I'm not entirely sure I follow you here, home sharing comes with iTunes 10.2, so far as I am aware even iTunes 10.6.1 only requires OS X 10.5.8 or better. On that basis I'm not sure why you think you have a problem.

The MBA seems to cause several problems to several users on boot ups
On start up my MBA would not boot up the apple logo came on but only a blank screen appeared no fan i followed several start up recommendations but to no avail so I  took the MBA to the nearest Apple repair centre again the same symptoms on start up ......very sorry sir you need a new mother board that will be $500 not feeling confidant in the product declined and was going to put it on ebay for spares.
On return home I pressed the start up button and it started normally everything was working fine i decided to reinstall all the software what has caused the problem I have no idea but it is after several attempted reboots it finally started on its own so don't give up if you have this problem it may come to life

  • My one day old MacBook pro just turned off and it won't come back on either through mains or battery power

My one day old MacBook pro just turned off and it won't come back on either through mains or battery power it's as if the unit is completely dead. Even with the mains plugged in there is no green or orange light to say its charging or full charged. The battery was fully charged anyway seconds before the screen went off.

When you say no green or orange light are you refering to the little led on the magsafe connector?  That could mean either the charger/cable are bad or the circuitry in the MBP is faulty.  Since this is a brand new MBP best bet is to take it back to an Apple Retail store and have the genius bar staff take a look.  They can determine if it needs to be reparired or replaced.

The subject line pretty much describes my dilemma. My 3rd Gen won't boot up and gets hot when I plug in the charger. Any suggestions?

Sometimes I have to hold power button for 10 seconds for it to shut off then back on. Sometimes holding the power button for a second is enough for it to come back on.

I took it to the Genius Bar, and they identified it as a hardware issue. Just got it back today. Parts replaced were:
620-5629 Display Module — Symptom: Distored/blurred/focus video issue
605-3284 Top Case with Keyboard — Symptom: specific key(s) do not work
So far so good. I'd suggest taking it in and not trying to work around it — it's a rare hardware issue (given the number of threads about it) and should be replaced.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Just use your backup to put everything back.  This is one of the many reason that backup are very basic.

    Spill Cleaning
And, don't think that just because it was two teaspoons and not a glassful that there is a difference.
Some liquid has just spilled into your Mac. What should you do?
    Do
Immediately shut down the computer and unplug the power cord.
Remove the computer's battery (if you can)
Disconnect any peripherals (printers, iPods, scanners, cameras, etc.)
Lay the computer upside down on paper towels to get as much liquid as possible to drip out.
Note what was spilled on your Mac.
Bring the computer into an Apple store or AASP as soon as possible.
    Don't
Don't try to turn it back on. Liquids can help electrical current move about the components of your Mac in destructive ways.
Don't shake the computer (this will only spread the liquid around).
Don't use a hair dryer on it (even at a low setting a hair dryer will damage sensitive components).
Do not put in a bag of rice in as much as rice will get into the ports and optical drive and do further damage.

  • MacBook Air won't boot up and all I get is a folder with a question mark

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It's possible that your hard drive has stopped working. Do you remember what OS X version you were using?
If your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Mac OS X Install Disc 1 and hold the C key while your Mac is starting to start from the DVD. Then, choose your language, and go to the Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Disk Utility. After that, choose "Macintosh HD" in the sidebar and repair the drive. If it couldn't be repaired, you need a new hard drive, and you can do it yourself if you want. If you don't want, take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller.
If your Mac didn't come with DVDs, follow the same steps but holding Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your computer is starting

  • MacBook Pro won't turn on and it won't charge

My MacBook has been working fine and has been charging until now. I left my laptop in without it being plugged in and I presume the laptop died when it ran out of battery. I plugged my charger into laptop but I noticed that there was no charging light on the mag lite charger. I tried plugging my laptop in at different plug sockets and I've tried using a different charger but my laptop still won't charge it turn on. I've only had it just over a year. Any ideas anyone?

  • G5  - Won't boot up and has critical project on board.

    Hi,
I've been following various threads on what seem like similar problems however I'm now at a stage where I'm feeling less confident in proceeding and I don't want to damage the computer or its hard drive contents.
    _Here's the problem._
    Power PC G5 2.3Ghz
I power up the computer - no chime - no video - after a minute the fans go into overdrive.
    _There are:_
No LED warning lights showing on the Logic board
The power indicator isn't flashing in terms of RAM problems
I'm not sure I can hear the hard drive starting up - certainly no whirring going on there.
The keyboard doesn't seem to be working - no power to the cap locks button and It won't open the superdrive tray
    _I have:_
    Replaced PRAM batt
    Reset PMU by button inside
Ive tried target mode booting but nothing there either
I have reseated the RAM but not tried different combinations or new RAM
I haven't reseated the CPU (not sure how to identify that)
I haven't tried the hairdryer yet
    Background:
Over Christmas when I was away it had the same problem with my partner. On returning I turned it on and it was fine. It has repeated it a few more times but always come back to life. My theory at the moment is expanding /contracting solder on the logic board as it gets cold in our house during winter. I used it the day before it stopped working and it was fine, I then moved it to a music studio and it then repeated the problem. So far it hasn't come back. I'm believing that if it was a logic board solder problem that in moving it I may have broken that joint ? The computer has an album project on it which has been backed up but I've just discovered not as recently as I thought (no sympathy there.... : (

Hairdyer 4 mins (to the point at which it became worryingly hot) and its back to life
    Now to back up
