MAcbook wont power up

Hi, when i push the power button on my white macbook it will show the apple logo, and the little loading thing below then a like circle with a line through it pops up...
i dont know whats wrong. can anyone help?

I finally got my computer in to the genius bar. The hard drive is fried. I was told that they are using the same parts as pcs except for the Air. Since I am still under warranty, they are replacing the HD and fixing the chipped case but if I want to save my data I have to pay $50, even though its Apple's fault I'm losing my data. I saved a few pics to a flash drive but did lose some data. Now I'll purchase the extended warranty. I have only owned Apples. I had one of the first, the LCII. I still have 2 working computers, one about 12 years old and another about 6. I don't know if I'll get another 6 years out of this one.

  • HELP! Macbook wont power up and keeps on ejecting.

I just updated the software on my new 1.83 Intel Core MacBook by clicking on that link under the apple-about this mac tab... after it installed all the software, a message popped up and said something about quitting all applications, shutting down the computer and holding the power button until the light flashes repeatedly. I've never seen anything like this but I did that and now the computer wont even start! The light on the front comes on, the screen blinks once and the CD slot keeps on ejecting .... over and over again.... There is NO DISC! If I put in a disc it tries to push it out and then takes it in... but you can still hear it ejecting... but this time more quiet, and now you cant actually eject the disc unless you turn off the power, turn it back on, and then quickly hit the eject button. I dont want it to damage itself so I just held the power button again until the whole thing shut off. I feel like punching the computer!
I also tried the to reset it by taking out the battery and holding the power button for 5 sec... then putting the battery back and starting it up... but that didn't do a got dam thing.
Does anyone know why my Mac crapped on me out on me?!
    Thanks!

    1.25 PowerPC G4/1.83 Intel Core MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   768 MB DDR-G4 /512 MB DDR2-MacBook

I Could Kiss You! That seemed to do the trick! I dont know why it cra pped out on me half way through this process.... but it updated now and all seems well. The only thing is that when I went to Utilities on my PowerMac... Disc Utilities doesn't seem to exist there... so I opened it up using the help tab and when I got to it, the FirmwareRestorationCD.dmg didn't even exist... it doesn't even seem to be in the computer. Have any idea about that one?
I had to download the dmg off the website.
Thank You so much for the help too! You Just saved my laptop and turned it back from a Huge Paper weight to a Working MacBook.

  • Macbook wont power on (2008)

I just purchsed a nice Macbook off ebay.  Its the white 2008 version.  The seller swears it was working when he shipped it and is offering a refund if I cant get it to work (which leads me to believe he isnt lying)  UPS dropped it off today.  I hit the power button and absolutely nothing happens.  By pressing the button on the battery it shows a full charge.  He said he did a fresh install of OSX 10.5, and then shut it down when it started asking for personal info and then boxed it up and shipped it off!
    I have already tried:
-Removing battery, power cable, holding down power button for 5 seconds, putting battery back in and plugging it in and got nothing.  I also tried this without putting the battery in and running off AC power and also only using the battery with no AC power.   Nothing worked.
-Found another article that said hold down command, option, P, and R and press power (didnt work)
-Also tried removing both sticks of ram and re-seating them and that didnt work either.
I will probably have to take it to the genius bar this weekend if I cant get it running.  Just wondering if there was anything else i've missed I could try??

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • MacBook wont power up , plugged in or unplugged

Anyone have these issues before  worked fine last night

Have you tried resetting the System Management Controller? That is a good first step for power related issues such as this.
    Best of luck.

  • Macbook wont powerup, beeps repeatedly when power button is pressed and you need to hold the power button down to shut the beeping off. any thoughts?

Have a 13" macbook. wont power up. upon hitting power button, the computer sounds 3 long beeps constantly until you hold the power button down for 5-10 seconds. any thoughts out there?

Thanks guys, i just read a few articles regarding this. i pulled all the ram and tried swapping and reseating ram. it appears both chipsets are fine but one ram slot is bad. computer will boot with either chipset installed in the one good slot but neither chipset will boot in the other slot. bummer....

  • Macbook pro 15" mid 2010 i spilled water on keyboard now it wont power on if the battery is connected and the keys on keyboard doesnt work it works fine with no battery and external keyboard if i order a battery and new keyboard will every else work again

macbook pro 15" mid 2010 i spilled water on keyboard now it wont power on if the battery is connected and the keys on keyboard doesnt work it works fine with no battery and external keyboard if i order a battery and new keyboard will every else work again lik it did before

If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.

  • My macbook wont boot up :-( HELP!!!!

    Hi
HELP!!! My macbook wont boot up.
I was deleting some files off my system last night, Id put them in the trash and deleted them (there was quite alot!!) and the screen gradually went black and told me i needed to restart my computer by holding down the power key.
I tried doingt this but it wouldn't restart.
I left it a while and tried powering up, it seems to turn over once but the chimes dont kick in and nothing happens, the little light (is it the sleep light?) does come on but nothing else.
I really really hope someone can help!

Since you are still using Panther, try booting from your System Install DVD. Try running the +repair disk+ & repair permission options.

  • My macbook wont recognize my optical drive

My macbook wont recognize my optical drive

You can try resetting the SMC and pram:
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
You might also try a cleaning disc, sometimes that helps. Does it not recognize cd's and DVD's or just me of the two?

  • MacBook wont join existing WiFi network??

My MacBook wont join an existing, working WiFi network - I keep getting "timeout" errors even though I am entering the correct WPA - can anybody please help me figure out why??
    thank you

First contact your ISP.  You need to confirm that the issue is not on their end.
Change your router channel.  Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router.  Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.
    System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
    Unlock the padlock
    Locations:  Automatic
    Highlight Airport
    Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock.  Highlight Airport.  Network Name-select your name.  Click on the Advanced button.  Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."  Click the OK button and lock the padlock.  Restart your computer.

Delete all extra entries that you find.

Try resetting the System Mangement Controller -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964.
If that has no effect, then your only recourse is to take your machine to your local Apple Store/AASP and have them run diagnostics on the machine.

syncing iphone and now phone is stuck and wont power off or do anything

Reboot the phone:  hold down the power button and the home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "slide to shut down".  When the screen has been completely black for a few minutes, press the power button again.
