MacBook yosmoti shuts down on log in screen

Hey guys,
I am able to get to a sign in screen with a white background and enter my password. Once I do that the loading bar appears and it makes it about 1/4 of the way across before automatically shutting down. I tried reinstalling the software through disk utilities but I am getting an error and it asks me to try again. I've done that many times now. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Macbook keeps shutting down after replacing the screen!

    Hi,
The screen of my four year old Macbook cracked the other day and, after being quoted around £500 from Apple to replace it, I decided it was pointless seeing as though the machine cost £700 nearly four years ago.
A friend of mine ordered a screen and replaced it for me. I've just turned it on for the first time an hour ago and the screen and everything else works, but for whatever reason the machine just turns itself every now and then. Does anyone have any idea why?
I assume it must have something to do with how much of the processor is being used because I have done a little testing and have found that, when the machine is hard at work, it switches off after about ten minutes, while after 45 minutes of being idle, the thing has stayed on when I haven't touched it (typing this from a different machine).
So I'm just wondering if anyone can help me diagnose the problem, and better still, help me resolve the issue. I know taking the Mac to the Apple store would have been the safest solution but surely you can understand my unwillingness to do so considering the machine is worth less than the price to fix it.
Many, many thanks in advance for any help.
    Additional info:
The Apple logo at the back of the screen is very dim compared to normal.

Have you tried a different charger?
Hardware fault, very likely logic board.
Make a service call to Apple for diagnostic / repair at your local Apple store.

After installing Mavericks my MacBook Pro and my MacMini can't shut down, only a grey screen and finish. Must be killed by the power button. Why?

same here...  sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't!!

  • What's the difference between shut down and log out?

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Air and will sell it.
I like to take out my name but don't know how.
What will happen if I Log Out (my name comes after that)?
What's the difference between Shut down and Log out?
    Help please,
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The shut down turns off the Mac and a log out closes your user and take your computer to the log in screen. To sell the Mac, you have to reinstall Mac OS X erasing the disk. Open  > About this Mac and copy Version

  • Macbook Pro shutting down. Hardware error code 4MEM/62/40000000:0x7f537f90

Macbook Pro shutting down. Not the same action making it shutdown. Anywhere from being online to attaching a photo to an email to working in Word or Photoshop. Even after it's closed and not being used. I come back to it being shut off and saying it had to restart because of a problem. I ran the Hardware check and got the Hardware error code 4MEM/62/40000000:0x7f537f90.
I must say I am quite disappointed. I have used Mac for work but had a PC since day one, and I JUST got this Macbook Pro in Dec. I was delighted that Mac usually didn't have as many problems with viruses etc as PC. And now last couple days, constantly shutting itself down. The closest store to me is a few hrs away. I am in South Dakota, store is in Minnesota Any help would be appreciated.

Can you post a screen shot of About This Mac -> (More Info) -> System Report -> Memory and click on each DIMM and post the bottom right pane. You can also do the same without a screen shot using just text version using the following highlighted command in OSX Terminal. The output is also listed.

  • My 15" Macbook Pro, shuts down by it self (Random occurrence).

My 15" Macbook Pro, shuts down (randomly) by it self, some times it will not turn on, and some other times (very rarely) the fans go on “very loudly” the second I turn it on. But the computer, does not turn on at all, even with the battery fully charged and the fans runing full blast.
Some other times, it will not wake up. It will only turn on or wake up if connected to the power adapter, even if the battery is fully charged.
I have already reset (a couple times) de firmware, the smc and he pmu and the problem persists.
Al this goes on randomly and unpredictably. Some times it works just fine for 4 or 5 days and the suddenly something happens.
I also think that some times the computer runs extremely hot.

    15' MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I have the same thing happening with a new macbook I bought my wife and I called apple today and after going back and forth between apple care and apple customer service they are shipping me out a new replacement macbook as it is less than 30 days since I bought it. I am waiting for their email with the Fed ex info so I can send this one back and then they will send out the new one.
If it is still in warranty I suggest you call Apple customer service and let them know how bad it is and insist on a new one!
This one also reboots at the slightest movement and it took me several tries to finally log in on it tonight to delete all the user accounts before I send it back!
Hopefully the replacement one is glitch free!

  • Shuts down after start up screen

Hi, Trying to help out a friend.
Her lappy shuts down after the initial screen and sound.
    Power supply seems ok.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks

I went to apple today and they told me that the hard drive has unmounted itself. They have my macbook right now and they said they're going to replace the wire that connects the hard drive to the logic board and see if this solves the issue. If it doesn't work they will replace the existing 250GB hard drive in my macbook with a 500GB as they no longer make that size hard drives (cost of £130 for the replacement). The problem is that i dont have my macbook backed up so will there be anyway to get data off the od hard drive?

  • MacBook Pro shuts down when i close the lid

    Hey,
My MacBook Pro shuts down when i close the lid.
It started to do this one or two times, but now it is every time.
I have the latest battery update, so this should not be the issue here..
    Any sugestions??
I have started to suspect the it might be some faulty conecctions or somthing..

If it's unable to go into the proper sleep state for some reason then it will do that.
Run /Utilities/Console and click 'All Messages' top left then close the lid, wait a minute then open it again - if it's shut down then reboot and open Console again and check the latest log lines looking for 'sleepimage' - it should give you an indication of what happened/didn't. If you're not sure what it all means post _just those lines_ here.

  • Macbook Pro Shuts Down During or Soon After Start-Up

My macbook pro shuts down after booting up. Sometimes it makes it to the desktop, but sometimes just to the gray screen. Also, at desktop, it asks if I want to shut down. Is something pressing on the shutdown button? Any help on what to do?

  • My macbook pro shuts down automatically

    Hi,
My macbook pro battery condition has been showing that it needs to be replaced soon. Ever since I knew my battery was weak, I started using my macbook by always connection it to the power adapter that way the power source would be from adapter. Since last two days, while in use macbook pro shuts down on me automatically. It never said shutting down or anything like that. The screen just went blank instantly and when i checked the battery indicator lights, all of the battery is drained. When I presses the power button it started and then instantly shut down again. After few mins of  repeating, I am finally able to see that my computer is getting turned on. But this issue repeats almost on a daily basis since the last three four days. Even if my battery went bad, I should be able to use my computer by connecting it to the power adapter, right ? or do I have to mandatorily replace battery for my computer to work ? please help.

Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • Macbook abruptly shuts down

    Hello all,
I just got my Macbook yesterday. Twice today, while browsing websites and listening to music, my Macbook abruptly shut down! One moment I'm zooming along, the next -- silence .. and I'm gazing into a black screen.
My battery? 100%! My AC adapter? Plugged in!
When I type, nothing happens. When I press the power button, the computer screen turns on and I hear the startup chime but then the computer abruptly shuts down again very quickly after the chime. I press the power button again, same thing!
The only way to get the Macbook to turn on is to hold down the power button until my "indicator light" (the one that pulses when the Macbook is sleeping) blinks rapidly, then I let go. A loud annoying long beeeeeep is heard, and the Macbook starts up as it should.
    Very odd! As I said, it's happened twice now .. seperated by only a few hours. Anyone have any ideas? :{

    Blackbook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I agree with the temp. theory. I have read many posts about this happening as you discribed it, beep and all. I suggest seeing if you can MAKE the macbook do it. Run a lot of programs and just make that puppy work and get it to shut down. Assuming it does Let the unit cool, and repeat, but this time have the macbook sitting as close as you can to a source of coolness as you can get . Tilt one end up and have a fan blow at high across the bottom and see if you cant get it to shut off again.
    2. Maybe you have a deffective unit, if you can make the macbook shut off on command, so to speal, get it exchanged.
    3. How much RAM are you running? OSX needs a Gig at least to multitask without flaw.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Did you upgrade the RAM yourself or is this as you bought it ?
The kernel panics seem to be caused by any issue with the CPU's so this might not be user-fixable and you may need to call AppleCare and have this fixed under warranty (if it is stock/Apple RAM)
    +panic(cpu 0 caller 0x28d59c): "pmapflushtlbs() timeout: " "cpu(s) failing to respond to ilterrupts, pmap=0x84b6e0 cpustorespond=0x2"@/SourceCabhe/xnu/xnu-1504.7.4/osfmk/i386/pmap.c:3548+
All I can suggest is that you try the following and see if it helps (it can't hurt)
Boot holding down Apple/S and don't let go until you see scrolling text.
When that stops and you see a root#: prompt enter
    fsck -fy
Let it run through all the checks and repairs.
If it fails first time, at any time, or finds and fixes a fault - run the command again and keep doing so (some fixes can take several passes) until it says "Appears to be OK" then enter
    reboot
