Hi, I want to connect my MacBookPro to a HD TV. I understand that I need two cables but I dont know wich ones to buy.Can anyone help me? Thanks

Male to male HDMI - the only choices are:
a) How long you need (allow plenty from your MBP to TV, at least 3m I'd suggest)
b) If you want one with gold/high quality contacts and thicker wire (better signal transmitted)
They aren't cheap, I just paid $100 for a 2m one !

It depends on your needs. Natively you have Netflix and iTunes purchases, and Hulu (US). If you have an IOS device you can airplay (if the app is enabled) or mirror (iPad 2 or later, iPhone 4S or later). A computer can also be mirrored (natively on recent Mac running 10.8 or using 3rd party software).

DVI is video only so you only need one port... if you were hooking up audio and video you'd need three (1 for video - 2 for the left/right audio channels)

Where can I find some good quality cheap cables?
I have an LCD tv with DVI and VGA connection, I need a DVI to DVI cable for cleaner DVI output.
I would also like to have an audio out adaptor and cable that can split a signal for audio out cable to go into the televisiona and an audio out cable to RCA cables for audio output into the stereo.

The only supported method is HDMI so there will be no guarantee with any converter. If it does work, you would need to make sure your TV is HDCP compliant in order to play protected content (ie iTunes, Netflix). Functionality can also cease at any time.

Powerbook to HDTV. Need cable help.

I'm looking to hook up my early model Powerbook 12 (the one with the the 867mhz processor) to my Sony Bravia hdtv.
Half an hour of googling has yielded this: my powerbook outputs video using some archaic **** called mini vga and there is no easy way of connecting that to a hdtv. So I was hoping some of the kind denizens of the fb forums could help me out and tell me what cables I need to get.
I also read that I would need to get audio to the tv using a separate wire. Is this as simple as hooking up an audio cable from the laptop to the tv or am I missing something?

Well, it would be very interesting to know which unit you have and which TV out port the unit has.
But I assume if your unit has a S-Video Out port so you need a 4 pin type S-video cable.

Need cable definition for 871 Router and USR Modem

I have tried three different RJ45 to DB25 adapters used for various Cisco routers. I am configuring this to remotely dial into the Cisco 871. I have a Case in the TAC but it is not going well.

I am not really clear on what you are asking: are you looking to purchase the cable somewhere, and what is TAC recommending ? Have a look at this link, it shows the cable you need (it is the blue cable with an RJ-45 connector at one side, and a DB-25 adapter at the other...).
Or are you having problems getting a (remote) connection from your modem to the router ?

Need cable to connect Epson 1520 and Blue & White G3

I'm trying to connect an Epson Stylus 1520 and a blue and white G3 with OS 9.1 installed. I need the correct cable. The printer has a 8 pin serial port. The G3 has a 4 pin serial port.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
The Blue & White G3 models do not have a serial port.
Other than audio in and out, they have an ADB port (about all that can be used for is old-style input devices like older keyboards and mouses); two USB 1.1 ports; a 10/100BaseT ethernet port; and two firewire 400 ports. It is possible you are confusing the ADB port (which is a four-pin port and is located between the ethernet port and the lower firewire port) with being a serial port.
Your options are limited.
• You can add a serial port via a USB-to-serial adapter. If you choose this route, it would be best to not connect the adapter to a USB port on the keyboard; use one of the two ports on the Mac, or through a self-powered hub. There are many of these devices offered by several vendors. If you do a Google search on USB to serial you will get many hits on such; or go to any of the on-line catalog stores, such as MacWarehouse, MacConnection, MacZone, etc., and do a search on their site.
• If the printer is equipped with one of the optional Mac compatibility cards, which provide either a LocalTalk port or an ethernet port, there are more choices available.

Tecra 8100 need cable to attach to hard drive

I believe my motherboard is fried. The machine will not start and I want the data off the hard drive. I need a USB cable I can plug into my desktop and plug the other end into this 12GB Toshiba hard drive. A standard IDE/SATA adapter kit does not work. Where can I get a cable with the correct connector (male) for this drive?

I have a cable at my office that is (almost) what you are looking for. The one I have connects to the 8100's hard drive on one end, and the other end is a Cardbus card. We had a number of 8100's in my office that we bought new, and I used this setup at the time for cloning the drives to get them all set up the same. We still have a number of working 8100's laying around the office. If you're really in a jam I may be able to help you out.

And, it is committable with Iphone4 & 4S but, I have Iphone5 I tried to buy (third party) adaptor of Lighting to 30 pin convector to make it work but, got message on Iphone5 " Accessory not authorized". Later, purchased same from Apple store and it transmitted only Audio but, not Video. So, have to return.

BootCamp USB MacbookPro Need Help

Alrite so i got a Macbook Pro, No Opitcal Dvd Drive Because I have just recently bought it and it was swapped out for and SSD, Either the orginal Harddrive or the SSD is in the Optical Drive spot... Just i am not sure... People say that it is not possible some people say **** yeah it is easily posible... I have Macbook Pro Early 2011 if that helps... I Have enabled the USB Option in Boot Camp Assistant because it was not avaliable on my computer, I have then Installed the Windows 7 Iso onto it, Then i have Downloaded the Windows Support files and put them on the flash drive also.... Then made my Partition for Windows 100GB, Then System Restarts to No Bootable Disk, Please enter a disk blah blah blah .... So I then tryed the VMware trick, Got the wm somthing file that was for windows 7 from doing a command and then told it to boot the ISO, Got Windows up and running until setup then the guide told me to restart my mac after the first windows restart and boot into the windows drive, so i did... and i got a whole bunch of boot errors, I feel like if i let it install fully it mite have worked so i went to fully get it installed but no VMWare is telling me Missing Operating System after boot up, Anyone know how to fix this or any tricks to get the Bootcamp to work on my system because i know there is a way!... Thanks!

Which external hard drive do i need to transfer my files from my G4 with OS 10.3 to my new iMac?

I have a Mac G4 PowerPC (with: processor speed of 1GHz, 1 MB L3 cache) running OS 10.3.9. I want to transfer my files from the G4 to my iMac (.21.5/2.5QC/2X2GB/500GB/6750M) which is still in the box, for the last 3 years. I believe it is running OS Mountain Lion. All the Mac-compatible external Hard drives i have looked at are for OS 10.5 or 10.7 and above. Are there any external hard drives for sale that will work with my OS 10.3.9 to transfer files to my iMac? If not, how can i do this transfer of files?

An external hard disk drive enclosure with FireWire400/800 ports, with others
may be able to be used; but not as an adapter from one kind of port to another.
The old iMac uses USB, perhaps as slow as 1.1; that won't work with newer
USB3.0; but both the newer and older computers could use FireWire; or maybe
ethernet for computer to computer.
Newest models have Thunderbolt data ports, so adapter cables are needed.
And then you'll need cables to match whatever combination you end up with.
{You may have tried something or another, but not posted back to say if you did.
And this thread is nearly two weeks old, now. I just happened to find it here.}
For what you suggest, you may be able to find a suitable cable, perhaps FireWire
or Ethernet, depending on the ports available and cables still applicable to both.
Does newer iMac have FireWire ports? You could buy a FW400 to FW800 cable where
the ends are different, if the newer machine has FireWire800. [The old one has FW400.]
This would have to be equipped with the protruding connectors so each could make
the connection between each computer's built-in ports. Not all cable sets do this.
This would be the fastest way to copy content between machines, if FW 800 in newer mac.
Port-powered external hard drives may be under-powered and fail to work, so that is why
I suggest enclosed HDD with its own AC power adapter that will not rely on FW or USB
for the power to run the drive and the electronics inside the enclosure.

This is an image of the lesser model series with fewer ports. The FW800 and USB3.0
are both backward compatible to their older counterparts, FW400 & USB2.0. But even
so the old 1GHz iMac G4 with USB1.1, would not be able to use newer USB3.0; yet
should be able to connect via FireWire400 to FireWire800 by special cable.
If the iMac G4 is still working, that's a plus. Attempting to remove the old IDE/ATA HDD
and access it outside the PowerPC iMacG4, is really a troublesome effort, one to avoid.
But the PPC iMacG4 can be started in Target Disk Mode and accessed as a hard drive
via FireWire cable, too. Then files can be seen as though the old Mac is an external HD.

Yes. The adapter just provides the digital video signals. You still need to plug in the power, USB, and FireWire (if needed) cables from the display
All the documentation seems to be restricted to G4s,
When the adapter came out the only ADC computers were G4s. They haven't updated the documentation, but it will work on a G5.
