MacBookPro Upgrade to 10.4.10 - Keyboard/Mouse/Touchpad Not reconized

Hi all-
I have a very strange problem with my MBP. I've just come back from Europe, so I decided to upgrade my system to 10.4.10 and the security upgrade from june/july (I don't really remember).
The installation went smoothly, except ONE BIIIIG problem.
After the reboot, my OS doesn't reconize anymore my Keyboard/touchpad or even my external mouse. In fact, it seems that nothing is powered anymore. The caps lock button doesn't light.
I tried to boot on the backup DVD and repair autorization. There my keyboard and my mouse are working.
I'm using now my Vista bootcamp partition. Keyboard/mouse and touchpad working perfectly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my work laptop (it's why I waited so long to upgrade, to be sure).

I am experiencing a Bluetooth linking problem with my Titanium PB, using a D-Link DB-120 adapter, and my Logitech MX900 mouse. Oddly enough, the Logitech Cordless Elite keyboard works fine with my system. Only the mouse fails to link (it pairs just fine). Like other people on this forum, the linking problem developed in the upgrade from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4.
The mouse cannot link automatically. I have that sometimes unplugging the D-Link adapter causes the mouse to automatically link. Also, toggling discoverable off->on->off causes the mouse to link. Also, using the keyboard first will cause auto linking, and the mouse follows.
Trashing preferences, or leaving "discoverable" in a particular state has no effect on the linking problem. Rather, a state change in "discoverable" seems to initiate linking. This may a caused by a coding bug at Apple, since nothing else has changed. Everything worked as expected under 10.4.3.
Hopefully Apple with fix this linking problem, and Logitech will market a 100% Apple compatible keyboard soon. Good gracious - their bluetooth keyboards are already 95% compatible - is the extra 5% that costly?

It's known that installing Windows from an external DVD drive on a Mid 2013 MacBook Air causes that the keyboard doesn't work after finishing the installation. The fix is to install Windows by using a USB drive. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4599

  • Keyboard/mouse do not function after waking from sleep?

Hi, I've recently noticed that when ever I wake my MacBook from sleep mode, the keyboard and mouse do not respond to any input. It does not occur every time, but the majority. If I close the display a few more times and wake it again it can sometimes work but obviously this is time consuming.
Has anyone else encountered this or know of a solution?
    Thanks in advance

Well I just bought my iMac few days ago, the Apple propaganda is all that their products are so much better and blablablabla, basically sales talk.
Anyway, I was stupid enough to buy one and now I'm feeling the "real Mac expirience", keyboard and mouse have a lot of "wireless" connection issues but what real ****** me of is the fact that if my keyboard does not connect I have to shut the iMac on the on/off button, which i supose is not very good for the Mac's health, but well this is the leasson.
Resuming I have the same problem as the one reported here, and worse than the problem is seeing Apple's "support" on this subject, which is nule, this worries me even more.
Back to crap computers that at least work out.

  • Portg R500 - Blue Screen and keyboard mouse are not working

    Hi All,
I am using windows XP, well I was not any more due to below problem.
Laptop blue screened and now any time it goes to windows xp screen blue screen comes and reboot the system. Its not working in safe mode at all. Keyboard any mouse are not working. I cannot even go to BIOS.
I tried to plug a USB keyboard but still its same. I cannot even boot from CD.
Please could some one advise what do I need to do in order to resolve the problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey,
How you can test it in safe mode if keyboard doesnt work? I mean before Windows starts you have to press F8 key and then go down to select safe mode. Therefore you need the keyboard
In your case I would try to remove the battery and AC/DC adapter for at least one hour. Then connect both devices again and make sure battery is fully charged. Start your notebook and try accessing the BIOS setup and load the default settings.
If Windows doesnt start you have to do a recovery installation I think. Some Windows files might be muddled up

  • Laptop keyboard and touchpad not working in Windows 8.1

I just upgraded my S875-S7248 to Windows 8.1 last night. At first, everything seemed to be fine. However, this morning, the keyboard and touchpad had stopped working, and nothing I've tried has fixed it.  After some research, I figured out how to open the Device Manager, and the both devices are showning the infamous yellow triangle. When I click on the device, I see the message "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is imcomplete or damaged (Code 19)". Both devices are PS/2 devices, and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device, and updating the driver, but to no avail. In addition, I've run the Toshiba Service Station driver update, but it doesn't retrun any new updates either.
So, short of unstalling Windows 8, what can I do to fix this?
    Solved!

    Hi rmikereese
I had the same issue - but luckily you dont have to uninstall Windows 8 (at least I didn't need to)
Running a system restore should bring your computer before you installed the "critical updates" from Toshiba.  Fortunately I had a usb mouse already installed (because like you, my touchpad was also not working)
    1.  Restart Computer and Sign In
Note: I had to use the on-screen keyboard option found on the Ease of Access found at the bottom left of the screen
    2.  Right Click on "My Computer" (aka "Computer" aka "This PC") and click on Properties
    3.  Click on System Protection (3rd option on the left menu)
At this point a new System Properties window will pop up already on a System Protection tab
    4.  Click System Restore...
    5.  Choose restore point --> I had an option for "Windows Update" which was a "Critical Update"
My computer reset the registry and my touchpad and keyboard began working again!
When Toshiba tells you that you have Updates (Toshiba Support Driver)  IGNORE IT!
    Hope this works for you!

  • Keyboard and touchpad not working

Good day My keyboard and touchpad stopped working all of a suuden, and I need help. My computer is Toshiba Satellite E55 A-5114, this has happened to me before but only the touchpad stopped working and it fixed whenever there was a system update, now I've updated the system and installed the recent drivers and still not working, any ideas?

There appears to be an epidemic. My guess is that a Windows update which changes a driver causes it.
So turn off automatic update and inspect them one-by-one. They are offered on the second Tuesday of each month.
       Windows Update: Frequently Asked Questions
I install only those marked Important or Critical. In particular, stay away from those which change a device's driver. Get driver updates only from Toshiba.

How do you reinstall drivers? Sorry I'm not completely tech-savvy.
Thanks so much for your help.
First was it a corded usb mouse or a cordless?
If it was a corded it should've auto installed drivers from Windows itself to get it up and runnig.
If it was a cordless it should have again auto installed drivers for the dongle when inserted, But the mouse may have needed paired to the dongle, Which is done by usually clicking first on the discover/matching button on the bottom of the mouse itself, then pressing on the button on the dongle itself and that should match them together.
If it was a newer cordless mouse though most are already matched at the factory so there's no need for pairing much anymore.
As for installing the drivers it's fairly simple.
If you have a drivers and application DVD either that you bought from HP, or made yourself if you did a default factory image onto a DVD when you first got your computer, put that disk in your drive and navigate it till you find the driver, It should be marked Input Device Driver.
Or you can go to HP's Support Site and download the latest driver for your TouchPad and reinstall it from there.
You'll most likely have to reboot after doing this?
Let me know if this helps.
If not I've a couple other ideas, I just don't want to overwhelm you at this point.

  • Keyboard & Mouse Completely Not Functioning After 10.5 Upgrade

I've had my MacBook since August 2006. I haven't had many problems with it, but after I upgraded to Leopard/10.5 and restarted the computer (immediately after installation), my keyboard and mouse have completely stopped working.
That includes when I've connected external keyboards and mice. I have no way of using my computer.
Any suggestions before I bring it into the Apple Store? Is this a known problem? I don't want to be without my computer for a month, so I'd like to try to fix it at home first...

I have unchecked "Use all F1 etc keys as standard function keys" in keyboard prefs and we are back to normal.
    This has worked.

  • Windows 7 64 stuck (keyboard/mouse) but not when reboot my Boot camp

    Hi Guys,
After spending more than 3 times 12 hours reading/searching/trying I've decided to seek for your help.
My problem is pretty simple, trying to install Windows 7 64bit on MacBook Pro 15 Retins (mid 2014 model - MGXC2LL) gets stuck at language selection level if system is not booted by Boot camp.
I've performed many tests and the only way to get mouse pointer moving and keyboard responding is to create partition using bootcamp and restart system.
Once rebooted, Windows 7 installer starts and I can go past language selection.
I can poweroff mac (powerbutton) and power it on, boot from USB stick and it will still work. I can even pull it out of system and mouse/keyboard will still work.
Once system gets booted to Mac and restarted to Windows installer, from the very same stick, it get's stuck - no keyboard or mouse moving.
On top of this I did integrate into boot.wim and install.wim USB3 drivers as per description from other threads. No luck.
From my side I'm fine to play even with Gparted to create partition whatsoever and I can't figure out why is this so complicated with Mac if one wants to not go with mainstream. It should be as easy as adding Mac drivers to W7 installer and booting it off the stick. Why there's this black magic that system has to be rebooted with BootCamp. What is this black magic? It has to be simple command.
Why do I care about this?
    1. Well, once I get past the language selection screen, I'm getting stuck on next step as system doesn't see installation medium (No device drivers found). I'll work on this problem in parallel as seems that have found solution: http://techsavvystuff.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/running-os-x-mavericks-miss-windows .html
    2. I'll need to have multi-boot system and will need to install another windows on same mac (Win7 too) and so far didn't find a solution to start properly installer without having partition created by Boot Camp.
    Thanks in advance

I'll reply to myself, as have found the magic command thanks to guys from TwoCanoe and example at google groups:
    https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/macenterprise/1FT-h8OvVL8/eG94TXpZWHsJ
    sudo /usr/sbin/bless --mount /Volumes/USB_Boot_Volume --setBoot
    --legacy --legacydrivehint /dev/disk1`
I'll continue my journey towards TrueCrypt installed successfully on this system then.

  • USB Keyboard/Mouse do not function in Bios (Bios Change log too)

I have 1.7 and the system seems fairly stable, a few BSOD's occasionally and it normally seems to occur when the system is idle. I can work on that, but now when I boot my usb keyboard will not function for the EFI/Bios. I have a Old PS2 keyboard working for now but was hoping there is some work around that someone might now. Everything is enabled in the Bios and I even disabled, saved, re- enabled, saved.
Saving (F10) still causes the system to power down, but I can live with that.
Now for the BIOS, can we get a change log to determine what issues are being resolved with these update? I have 1.8b7 downloaded but last update I lost my Raid array so I want to see change logs before a possible rebuild.
Lastly I am used to new hardware having issues especially with OCing, but the EFI/BIOS seems extremely temperamental. First MSI board and my work is on the road a lot so I am hoping to get some of this fixed soon.
    Thanks for any advice

  • Powerbook G4 17" Keyboard or touchpad not working at all.

So I have this computer and it used to work perfectly until i decided to add some ram. When I did, something must have shifted and caused a short circuit at the L90 inductor, right beside the keyboard/touchpad connector. The power button still works, and the computer is FULLY usable through VNC. And with my limited knowledge in Macs I cant figure out the precise type of inductor I blew. It's a 3 Cent piece that i can see is all charred and burnt but i don't know what to replace it with.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Well I know what the problem is. Its the actual light and connection of the battery and light, it must be loose. Because when I pinch or mess around with the bottom of my phone just under my keys(where there seems to be a piece that could disasswmble from the phone), the light comes on and stays on when I hold it tight, and it flickers and flashes when I fiddle with it.
I wish you had the foresight to tell me upfront that you knew what the problem was -- there would be a little less guessing on my part and I would be able to get straight to the point.

Would it be a good idea to disassemble my whole BB to see if I can fix in the problem inside? Or is that a bad idea? (I don't think I can return it, its my moms old phone, I don't know how long she has had it for). Thanks guys!
I don't know if you can fix it or not... someone who has done it before might could, for sure.
For a loose battery connection? Just place a business card a folder sheet of typing paper on top of the battery, replace the battery door and see how that works.

  • G5 wont boot past white screen,or if it does keyboard&mouse don't work

Before it had this mega crash it had been having trouble starting up - the fan was making jet engine noises and taking forever for it to get to my desktop. It then proceeded to crash a few times during the week when using Illustrator. Then last week it went kaput. The mouse would jump across the screen then freeze,so had to use power button to switch off.Unfortunately our I.T manager has no clue with macs, it just so happens she installed some RAM the weekend before, or could this be a coincidence? The RAM was removed to see if was corrupt but this made no difference to start up.
Anyway I've tried starting up from the original disk, leopard disk and holding down all the keys people have suggested on start up. it gets as far as the white screen then the no entry symbol appears. When I try without any disk it gets to my desktop, but the keyboard&mouse do not work.
If there are any suggestions I would be grateful for your help. Otherwise I guess it's sending it off to a repair place?

With the Install Disc in the drive "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Tiger Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
If it still panics, disconnect the HD again & see if it boots offth Install Disc.
Does it boot into Open Firmware with CMDOption+of ?

  • Windows via Bootcamp keyboard/mouse not working???

I have a 15" Macbook Pro and have installed Windows 7 Ultimate via bootcamp with all the correct apple support drivers but suddenly my keyboard/mouse will not work at the sign in screen for Windows at all. Up untill this point I could restart my mac and resign in through the windows partition and easily play my favorite games. Recently I tried signing into windows but at the sign in screen I cannot use my mouse nor my keyboard. Please do not tell me to reinstall windows unless that is the only solution because of data not backed up. Is it a driver issue, how can that be because it worked fine for weeks? Please get back to me as soon as possible!!
    Specs:
Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 8 GB (Raam) 1600MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeGorce GT 650M 1024MB
Software OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)

If the mouse and keyboard are working under OSX then it can't be a hardware issue.
    You could try:
starting Windows in safe mode to see if the mouse and keyboard work. (Press F8 repeatedly just before Windows starts to boot to bring up the Windows boot menu.)  Safe mode loads a set of basic drivers to just get Windows running and no more.
Another thing you can try is unplug the mouse and re-plug it in after a few seconds while at the login window.  The USB ports may re-detect the mouse.
Try booting from a Windows PE CD or USB stick if you have one.  If the keyboard and mouse work under Windows PE then it's probably a driver issue under your Windows install.
Did you install anything under Windows before this happened?

  • Wireless keyboard & mouse

Hi there. I just installed on my MBP Mac OS X 10.5. I wanted to install WinXP as my secondary OS with BootCamp.
My wireless keyboard & mouse are not detected when I boot in Win.
How can I get my keyboard & mouse to work
    Thanks!

A quick look at the requirements for the Apple wireless keyboard and mouse says nothing about Windows, meaning they are not supported by Apple for Windows use. That does not mean, however, that someone has not found a way to make them work. As Allan has already stated, the Bootcamp discussion area would be a good place to look. It is possible that there is a third-party application which allows them to work in the Windows environment. Good luck.
