Macbooks In Australia

well ive called around and it seems all the places in sydney have to wait until next week before getting demonstrator units, and 3-4 weeks before units arrive to sell..which kind of annoys me considoring other parts of the world have them instantly - but not much i can do about it.
so i just traded in my 12" powerbook and ill pay the difference for a black macbook with 1gig of ram.
they said it should be a few weeks, im hoping its 2 or 3 and not 4 or 5.
heres to hoping mine doesnt have any rev a issues, cause if it does - its going back.
im looking forward to it though, because i for one adore the crystal screens on other notebooks and ive been waiting for apple to add them to their lineup...also my first intel mac (rip ppc tear ).
anyway...if any other aussies have macbooks on order then let us know when yours is due to arrive, or if you somehow got hold of one before me :P

i just ordered mine today..
not sure how long away it is though.
i'll let ya know.

  • Using UK bought Macbook in Australia

I am off to Australia for a couple of months and I need to know whether I need to buy a separate power adapter to charge it or can I buy a new square power adaptor out there which will work. In essence, is it the power plug that is the only thing that varies between Macbooks in different continents or are the laptop batteries completely different?

I travelled to Canada with my Aussie iBook back in 2005 and just had a plug adaptor for it.
Since Apple sell "Travel Packs" with the different countries plugs to switch plugs on your power pack, I would assume that you'll be fine.
Just go and talk to an Apple reseller/Apple Store and ask them about getting an Aussie plug for the power pack.

  • Taking MacBook from US to Australia, power source question

I am taking my US purchased MacBook to Australia. Is it safe to plug the computer into the 240volt 50 cycle electrical outlets there(with plug adapter) or do I need to connect through a voltage converter?

  • APPLE CARE  - How to register in Australia

I have just purchased Apple Care with my new Macbook in Australia but cannot complete the registration screen as it thinks I live in the USA. I cannot modify the screen for Australian conditions.

Go to http://www.apple.com/au/support/ ''AppleCare Extended Support''
Click on ''Register and View Agreements'' and follow the instructions..
I guess you need to have an Apple ID. If you don't have one, just register first

  • Account not valid

I'm having problem with  my accounts. I have lived over sees so I have 2 accounts. 1 Australia and 1 UK. The old UK one was always used for itunes purchases. When I got a macbook in Australia I took out .mac and ever since I have always used this one account to register hardware purchases so I know which one they are on. When I registered my new mini I used this account. I've since changed app store and everything to UK account. I've sync with itunes and made sure I'm signed into UK itunes store so device remembers this last store. I can successfully download from the uk music store but I am UNABLE to download apps on my ipad. It tells me that this account is invalid in UK store and I must switch to Australian store. I am most certainly logged in everywhere by UK account and made the music purchase with UK Account. Any thoughts.
    Thanks

This worked, thank you!  Even though the Country was listed as correct it still needed a log out/log in...go figure.
"or try logging out of Store and log in again
Seems to work where the store has changed of it's own accord"

  • Replacing a power cord in a different country from original purchase

    Hello,
I bought my MacBook in Australia, but I have recently relocated to Germany. My MacBook is fine but the magsafe power cord is damaged and needs replacing.
Is it possible to buy a power cord here in Germany and use it with my MacBook, or do I need to use only an Australian issued MacBook power cord?
    Thanks.

The adapter provided with the MacBooks is universal. You'll receive a different "duckhead" (the portion that connects to the outlet) but the adapter itself is the same. Keep the original duckhead & extension cord if they are undamaged as you can use them in your home country once you return.

  • IBooks from Australia and the USA - how can I see all of my collection on my MacBook Pro?

    G'day,
I am Australian. I began using iBooks in Australia by purchasing books through the Apple store in Australia on my iPhone.
In those days I had a PC running windows, and used to sync my iPhone on iTunes in Windows 7.
Later, I moved to Illinois in the USA. I also changed from using a PC to using an Apple MacBook Pro.
So these days I sync my iPhone with my MacBook.
I now have a mixture of books on my iPhone. Some purchased from the Apple Store in Australia, and some purchased from the Apple Store in the USA.
I can see and read ALL of my books on my iPhone.
But I can only see and read the 5 books I purchased since living in the USA on my MacBook Pro.
My login and password are exactly the same for the Australian Store, for the USA Store and for iCloud.
How can I see and read ALL my books on my MacBook Pro here in Illinois?
My iPhone is running iOS version 8.1.2
My MacBook is running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1

Thanks for your prompt response King_Penguin.
    I carried out your suggestions.
    A strange thing resulted.
Just one (1) of my 34 books on my iPhone now appears in the iTunes list of books on my Mac, and subsequently was moved to iBooks on the MacBook Pro.
This happens to be the book I am currently reading. So at least I can get on with reading on either device.
But I am mystified why only one book was copied across.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • What is the best USB powered portable 1TB hard drive for a macbook pro that allows Time machine to work, windows (thru Parallels software) and mac storage and is available in Australia?

What is the best USB powered portable 1TB hard drive for a macbook pro that allows Time machine to work, windows (thru Parallels software) and mac storage and is available in Australia?

I agree with teh OWC sggestion above, but why must it be USB powered? I find that far more unreliable, and the low power devices slow.
I'd frankly get a good external enclosure and buy a bare drive.  But the OWC stuff is quite good - vastly better than some of the majors (WD being aprime example of stuff that's boderline quality and often not compatible)

  • Using the MacBook Pro in Australia?

    Hello:
I apologize if this question has already been addressed within the forums.
I own a MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 15.4" 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM. I am getting ready to go on vacation to Australia and I've already purchased a few of the power outlet adapters. My MacBook Pro model is equipped with an 85W MagSafe power adapter.
My question is, will I be OK with just the outlet adapter or will I need to purchase a voltage converter as well?
    Many thanks!

will I be OK with just the outlet adapter
    Yes.

  • Australia Bigpond Wiseless using iMac as "host" & Macbook Pro

    Hi ya
Not sure how to even ask the questions. I have a iMac (2006) and I use Telstra Bigpond 7.2 wiseless USB thingy (Australia) for my Broadband internet. My partner has a Macbook Pro. Currently we can only have one mac working on the www at once, ideally we would both like to use the www at the same time. I know it can be done, but haven't a clue how to do this. I have tried using Bluetooth to get the Mac's to talks and they kind of do. I have also turned on this Airport thingy but nothing happens. I get the feeling I need to buy something???? I have also just tried to connect the two Mac's with a cable, but this is a bit dump when my partner has the Macbook and likes to be mobile...
I'm not very technical I've been to an Apple shop in Perth (Midland) and they didn't know what to do either!!
Any help would be welcome. And no I don't have cable www in my area it has to be wireless only solution
    Cheers
    Fleur

    Hi Fleur,
One solution to this problem could be to use a mobile broadband router. Some general examples can be found in this web page. A mobile broadband router creates a "bridge" between a wide area mobile broadband network and a local wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet LAN) network. Make sure that a chosen router has support for the exact USB mobile broadband modem and for the mobile network operator in question.
Alternatively, you may want to carry out a few experiments with Internet Sharing.

  • PLEASE in Heavens name can someone tell me where I can purchase a Empower Airline adaptor for my MACBook Pro (2010 model) in AUSTRALIA?

I'm so 'over' the mis-match of info - great info from the US but NOTHING in Australia and no stockists and/or conflicting information.
All I want to do is get power to my MacBook Pro on the flight - which Virgin has advised me its an Empower connector.
    ANYONE?  PLEASE ANYONE?

    Hutch111,
if you have a 13-inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, you can get a MagSafe-to-emPower adapter in Australia from here. Since there’s a 75 W maximum through emPower receptacles, I’m not sure how well it would work with a 15-inch or 17-inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, since their AC adapters provide 85 W.

  • Will I get the same warranty services in australia if I purchase my MacBook Pro oversea (I.e. Malaysia)?

Hi there, I am planning to purchase the new MacBook Pro oversea Malaysia. Apparently it is cheaper compared to australia retail price. However, I am concerned about the warranty. Do I have to purchase the machine in australia to be entitled for Apple store warranty services in australia? Thanks

The Apple warranty is world wide.  Have no fear, you will receive the same treatment in Australia as if you had purchased it there.

  • Does anyone know if a macbook air from Australia will work in the UK?

I need to know what problems I would have if I bought a Macbook air in Australia and brought it to the UK, would it still be able to connect to BT wireless? and what would i need to change power wise is it just the cable or is the voltage different? Also would programs still be compatable such as windows office?

Yes, it should work everywhere in the world. You do not require any power adapter change but you may require a wall socket plug adapter. You can buy them at some computer stores as well as major travel stores. Apple also sells their own World Travel Kit.
It is possible that your computer's Australian accent will change to a British accent if you stay in the UK too long.

  • Who can upgrade my macbook pro for me? (In Australia)

Just a basic macbook pro from apple store 2010, i am using cs6 now and need more ram and speed i quess...
I would like to know if the apple store can do it? or is there someone else who does it? I think im looking for a almost maximum upgrade, i want it to be fast anyways, with photoshop, premiere etc,..
    Im in WA.
    Cheers.

Easy upgrade you can do yourself. Instructions are on your computer: >About this Mac>More Info>Memory>Upgrade Instructions. Or, go here:
    http://www.macsales.com/
    Instructions, Videos, choices.
You do not want to pay Apple to do this...they're too expensive. Order your RAM from either Crucial or OWC, & do it yourself.
