Macintosh HD partition is not visible in Windows

Hello
I've a MacBook Pro mid 2012.
A week ago I had a problem with OSX 10.9 and the Apple Premium Reseller fixed it with a clean instal of OSX. I've set everything back with my Time-machine backup. Because it was a software problem, my windows partition wasn't damaged. In Finder I can see the BootCamp-partition and of course my Macintosh HD-partition. But when boot with windows I can only see the Windows BootCamp-partition but not he Macintosh HD-partition. And that's my problem. I want to see the Macintosh HD-partition in windows. Before the clean install I could see the Macintosh HD-partition and now I want it back because I need it.
I've downloaded the newest BootCamp software (Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621) and installed it. Because the HFS+ driver is included in the BootCamp software you should think it solved the problem but it doesn't. I've  read many communities and they told about only to reinstal the HFS+ driver which was exluded from the BootCamp software but this also didn't work.
I also tried to give the Macintosh HD-partition a 'disc-letter' because maybe that should be the reason why I can't see the partition but I can't give the partition a letter. I did it this way: Run => type: diskmgmt.msc. But it's impossible to give it a letter. (See additional photo at the bottom) I only can delete the partition when I right-click on it. (Is it normal that my disc have so much partitions which I don't know?)
Can someone solve my problem please?
Thank you very much for helping me out!
Joachim

The number of partitions should be four (the ESP/EFI information, OSX, Recovery HD and Bootcamp) on a single disk Mac machine.
From a working system with bootcamp, the partition id for entry 2 is AF (not AC) as is shown in your MBR, and the Windows installation only understands MBR (if you do not install using Windows 8.x/EFI on late 2013 Macs).
sudo fdisk /dev/disk0
Password:
Disk: /dev/disk0 geometry: 121643/255/63 [1954210120 sectors]
Signature: 0xAA55
         Starting       Ending

1: EE 1023 254  63 - 1023 254  63 [         1 -     409639] <Unknown ID>
2: AF 1023 254  63 - 1023 254  63 [    409640 - 1452530904] HFS+
3: AB 1023 254  63 - 1023 254  63 [1452940544 -    1269536] Darwin Boot

There is a simple fix for this. You may have to re-install Bootcamp drivers again, to allow the HFS driver to pickup the MBR entry or a reboot may be needed. Please use the following commands and stop if you see any errors. (the i386 boot error message at the start can be ignored safely). This is done by using the fdisk utility in interactive mode with the '-e' command line option.
sudo fdisk -e /dev/disk0
p
setpid 2
AF

Here is the help page for the fdisk utility.

  • Mac partition (hfs+) not visible in Windows after upgrade to Yosemite

    Hi,
I'm using a MacBook Pro with two partitions, Windows 8.1 (Bootcamp) en Mac OS X. I upgraded Mac OS from 10.9 to 10.10 (Yosemite) recently.
After upgrading, the Mac partition in Windows is no longer visible. I need it to be visible, as I have files on that partition which I need to access in Windows.
I've checked the format of the Mac partition, which is HSF+. I have installed the latest Bootcamp driver (5.1.5621).
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Phone not visible in Windows Explorer - post 10.3 upgrade

I installed 10.3 on my Q10 no problem, saw the Blend icon and decided to install (having used it on the work Passports) so a couple of things....
    1. Blend now downloaded - but wants to install on an F:drive - which would be the Q10.
    2. When connected via USB (or wifi) the Q10 is not visible in Windows Explorer (it was fine in 10.2)
    3. Can see the drivers begin to install, but then it rolls back and a 'Install failed, cannot find F:drive' appears.
    4. Is Blend intended for use on the Q10.
Anyone got any ideas I can try?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Found it, you have to go into Settings > Networks and Connections > Connection Services > USB and slide the USB Mass Storage Mode to the on position. It will then show as an ext. hdd in Windows Explorer.

  • Some Media Card folders within 'documents' folder not visible in Windows XP Pro SP3

I have tried renaming these folders on the device (eliminating '.'s and generally shortening the folder names) and then connecting to a Windows machine again afterwards, however, I have two problematic folders (within the 'documents' folder) that are still not visible in Windows.
One thing that is kind of troubling is that I thought I noticed that when I was moving files out of the 'documents' root directory (only place I can put files from the Windows machine [while connected] because I can't see the target folders in Windows) on the device to one of the problematic folders (again, because I cannot accomplish this in Windows), the original full-length folder name was still being referenced in the path displayed in the intermediate confirmation dialog.
Does it matter whether the folders are created within the (connected to) Windows environment or done on the device?  Are there folder name length considerations or illegal characters?
I have created (in the Windows environment, while connected) some rather long folder names (including ''' & '.' characters) within the 'pictures' directory and have no trouble seeing them later in Windows.
What could be going on here?
    Thanks, FFF

  • HFS+ formated USB Disk not visible under Windows 7

    Hello.
I recently purchased an APE and hooked a 4TB HFS+ drive via USB on it. Unfortunately it's not visible under Windows7. Though if I use a Fat32 formatted drive i'm able to access it. I even have macdrive installed. The drive is working properly if connected to the PC or MAC manually.
    Please help

Hello exalderan. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
FWIW. I currently have an external USB drive (NewerTech miniStack) connected to my 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn). I can access it from Windows 7 (Ultimate) from either a dedicated Windows PC or from a Parallels VM running Windows 7 without any issues. The 2 TB drive is formatted in HFS+.

  • Mac Photoshop layers not visible to Windows user

I'm using Photoshop CS6 Extended on a Mac. My client requested a PSD file saved with layers, which I provided. Her web developer is on Windows CS6 and is unable to see the layers in the file. Do you know why the layers are not visible to the Windows user?

Look under your PS Preferences > File Handling
How are you sending the file? Some email programs can alter files.
If you are saving a separate copy for your Windows users, see that layers is checked in the dialog.
Here's a screenshot for suggested File handling settings.

  • Disk Problems, OSX partition will not repair is Windows CHKDSK the culprit?

    Hi,
I have both Snow Leopard (fully updated) and Windows 7 on Bootcamp partition on my MacBook Pro.
Repairing Permissions on my Mac OS 10.6.4 partition had become a very regular with 'Java' permission problems always seeming to be a very regular and common one.
Anyhow, I thought it appropriate and logical to run the WIndows 7 equivalent of disk-verify/disk-repair/permission-repair and therefore run CHKDSK at 'CMD' level and this appeared to run accordingly without problems.
At some point/days later, my Mac OS appeared to be slow and having a lot of spinny-ball, therefore verified Macintosh HD volume-disk with Disk Utility and showed to have lots of problem. Disk Utility Repair has failed having tried it many times and not even Drive Genius 3 is able to repair or rebuild it on this occasion however I was able to run a 'Scan' on it from Drive Genius 3 and it reported thankfully that there was NO bad blocks.
The error thats returned repeatedly when doing a repair is "Incorrect number of thread records" which is reported immediately after "Checking Catalog File"
Not keen on the thought of having to format, re-install and then re-setup the system even from a Super-Duper backup copy that I had made previously (minus some data since).
    However, my questions are:
    1. Is it possible that the Windows 7 'CHKDSK' command may have possibly caused this despite the fact that it would have or should have only performed it's operations on the BOOTCAMP disk partition?
    2. Is it possible to reformat and restore any previously backed-up images to a single disk partition _without upsetting the other Partition and OS_ residing on it (albeit on the same overall physical disk), i.e. Restoring my Mac OS X SuperDuper backup image back onto the current Mac partition... and would the same apply if ever having to restore a Windows 7 Acronis backup image back onto the current BOOTCAMP partition.
    3. Would there be another alternative before a drastic reformat and recovery of the Mac OSX partition (if that's even possible without affecting BOOTCAMP - from question 2 above)
Advice would be much appreciated, many thanx.

At the time I had run the 'CHKDSK' command from within Windows, from the 'Run' command prompt located within the Start Menu.
Fortunately I still have the previous HDD that originally came with the MacBook Pro before I upgraded the internal drive some time ago and therefore I have been able to boot externally from this and continue to do so until I've decided what to do, which looks like a recovery from the previous super-duper backup will be inevitable.
I guess I'm unlikely to come across any software or fix that will be capable of correcting the 'faulty number of thread records' being reported after the 'Checking Catalog File' disk repair check routine, however if I find a solution then I'll post it here, otherwise an eventual recovery/install it is.
Under Fortuny's revelation, I will procede with MacDrive with caution and probably disable it if ever running a Windows CHKDSK again (if indeed this is the underlying cause of the problem). And under your advise 'The hatter' I shall certainly look into the Windows system file checker alternative, thanks.

  • Mac Volume/Parition not visible in Windows XP

I'm getting a weird issue and apparently no one else have got this before (have been gone through all the forum).
The issue is that I don't see the Mac OS-X HFS+ volume/partition in Windows XP Professional (using the Bootcamp). I first installed the Bootcamp 3.0 drivers for Windows, and after not seeing the HFS+ partition, even upgraded to Bootcamp 3.1, but still can't see that drive. My understanding is that it should be visible in the Explorer with other drives, right?
BTW, I tried using the HSF Explorer utility and I can see the Mac Partition using that, but I don't like it much as have to extract the files to actually use them. But it confirms the partition is there and is accessible too.
I can even see the HFS driver files in my windows folder "WINDOWS\system32\drivers" (AppleHFS.sys, AppleMNT.sys, etc).
Any body can help me how to use these drivers to manually mount that drive or how to automate that?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards, Akbar

  • BI Publisher Tab not visible in Windows 2007 with Windows 7 64 bit Config

    Hi All,
I was working with BI Publisher till last week in my system having windows 7 64 bit edition with Windows Word 2007 installed. When i started my work on Tuesday this week, i was not able to see the BI publisher Tab in the Word. But it's visible in Excel. I tried looking in to the forum and got solutions such as Enabling Macros, Enabling the Trust Access to VBA Project Model and Re installing Word and BI Publisher.I tried everything but still the issue is not resolved.
I dont find any *.exd file present in my system to prevent the Add-Ins from displaying. I'm not sure what update had made the BI Publisher to be hidden. Please let me know if you any suggestion or workaround as my project is in critical state with strict deadlines.
    Thanks,
    Bala Maheshwaran

If you cannot show the BI Publisher Macros in Word :
    1.     You have to uninstall the BI Publisher desktop
    2.     Install the BI Publisher as (Right-click on the "Command Prompt" item and select "Run as administrator".)
    3.     If you cannot show the BI Publisher macros and in word options show TBmenu as disable you have to do :
    4.     Click the Microsoft Office Button , click Word Options, and then click Add-Ins.
    5.     In the Add-ins box, identify the add-in that you want to enable and note the Add-in type located in the Type column.
    6.     Select the Add-in type in the Manage box and then click Go
    7.     Select the check box for the Add-in that you want enable and then click OK.
    8.     Close the word
    9.     Reopen the word , than appear the BI Publisher

Other smart phones are recognized , I can see them as drive  E or F etc, and if I click on e.g. E, I see the contents of E and am thus in a position to transfer the files to the place I want.
