Macintosh HD

Question

When I click on the HD I get this big question mark and when I click on the question mark it says the item cannot be found. Any ideas?

First off, neither an internal installation or an external HD "wipes out" anything. That being said, here's a couple of things to consider.....
1. An external HD would be easier in the short term, as you can simply plug it in and it will work. Obviously you can do this yourself.
2. An internal HD is easier in the long term, as you don't have to worry about lugging an extra thing around with your laptop.
3. If you go the internal route, you'll need to have someone do it. While replacing a HD doesn't "wipe out" or erase your data on the existing HD, you will obviously need whoever installs the new HD to move your data over from the old one. Most reputable places such as CompUSA, MacResQ, etc will do this automatically.
4. Which is better? See 1 and 2.
