Mackbook pro to flat screen tv

I have a 07 macbook pro if i install lion on it will airplay work from the macbook pro to my flat screen tv ?

What type of connections does you Panasonic TV have?
For your MacBook video you will need EITHER the MiniDVI-VGA adapter, the MiniDVI-Video adapter, or the MiniDVI-DVI adapter. It depends on the input connector of your TV.
For the audio, a 1/8th inch phono (from the headphone jack) to L-R RCA plugs (to the TV's audio in) is generally what you need for simplest connection.

  • Macbook pro to flat screen

I have an "older" MacBook Pro that doen't have a mini HDMI port. Is there a way to link the MacBook to my flat screen tv? I just got back from a trip to Norway, and would like to show my IPhoto slide show on the big screen.

    Jerry,
The only Macs that have any HDMI port are the Mac Minis. A couple of suggestions though, first please post in the MacBook Pro forum, this is an iMac forum. Also please look up the specs for your computer and see what type of video output port it has, from there you can purchase the appropriate adapter cable.  You can find the specs for your system by clicking Support in the upper right corner of this page, then navigate to Tech Specs until you locate your system.
    Best of luck!

  • How to connect Macbook Pro to Samsung Flat Screen TV

How do i connect my Macbook Pro (2-3 years ago) to Samsung Flat screen TV (Samsung UN22F5000 22-Inch 1080p 60Hz Slim LED HDTV). Currently, I just discovered that my HDMI port on the TV said "DVI". So, i came to the conclusion that I need to get the DVI to HDMI cable (male-male), and mini display-port to DVI (female) adapter cable for Macbook Pro. The question is am I correct?
I have tried looking at the back of the Samsung flat screen, but there has no VGA to PC port (female). Therefore, i googled and tried to find a way to connect my Mac to the Samsung flat screen TV. As i mentioned above, I came to the conclusion that I need those things. I just want to make sure that my assumption is correct. Thank you

    Dear Varjak Paw,
Thank you for replying to this topic. Yes, it is true that there are 2 HDMI ports. However, one of the HDMI ports has something written on it, which is (HDMI In 1 STB). While, the other one stated "HDMI In 2 DVI". Moreover, I tried to plug in the HDMI cable into HDMI In 2 DVI, and it doesn't fit. While, plugging in to the STB does fit. Do you know what are the differences?
    Thank you
    Sincerely yours,

  • Exactly what cables and hardware do I need to connect my early-2008 MacBook Pro to a flat-screen TV monitor to have both video and audio?

    Hello--
I'm trying to figure out how to connect my 15" MacPro Book from early 2008 to a Sony flat screen TV monitor. I've been told I need a "Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter" and a "HDMI to HDMI" cable, but I've also been reading that some cables only work with 2010 & 2011 laptops and that I may need additional cable/hardware to obtain audio. Could someone advise me on exactly what products I need to purchase?
    Thank you!

Which MacBook Pro 15" do you have?
With the silver keyboard (Early 2008)) or that one with a black keyboard (Late 2008)?
If you habe the Late 2008 you can use a miniDisplay Port + Audio to HDMI like that one (stereo sound) or that one (5.1).
If you have the Early 2008, it's not so easy, because you need a DVI + Audio to HDMI like that one (the Audio Channels had to be converted to Coaxial!) So much more adapters! Maybe there is a manufaturer which has the all in one solution)
Both MacBook Pro DOESN'T support audio on the video output! The later ones (Mid 2010 and later) supports Audio output within the miniDisplay Port.

  • Hooking up Flat screen tv to Macbook pro with a broken monitor via VGA

My monitor on my Macbook Pro recently went out. I am trying to hook it up to my Toshiba flat screen TV via DVI to VGA. When everything is hooked up, my TV just displays a screen saying "No Video Signal". I think this has to do with my display setting not being set to Detect Monitors on my Macbook. I also know there is a hot key (fn + f7) buuuuuuuuut, my laptop is password protected. So I think this may be causing the hot key to not work. My Mac is pretty old and I'd rather just hook it up to a spare monitor and use it as a desktop, and just save up and get a newer Macbook. Does anyone have any advice on how to get around this little problem I have seemed to run into?
By the way I am guessing at my operating system. I customer built my laptop back in 2007 so i'm not sure what I have in there haha. I do know I have a **** ton of ram

    lyndziiwh0a
Seeing this is rather old give this a try, it can't hurt.
Connect the DVI to the VGA, both devices powered off.
Power up the Mac, then power up the monitor, wait a couple minutes.
If no results, go to system preferences, select display, and click detect displays.
    You can also try F3.
    Good luck

  • Problems with volume when streaming a Netflix movie from my Mac Book Pro (Mid 2009) to my flat screen TV?

    Hi!
Does anyone know what I need to do in order to turn up the volume when I’m streaming a Netflix movie from my Mac Book Pro (Mid 2009) to my flat screen TV?
I hooked up the HDMI adapter from my Mac to my TV and it is currently in Mirror Mode, but I can’t turn up the volume, the only audio I’m able to adjust is on my Mac.
I’ve already tried: System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers Built in output.  That’s the only option my Mac gives me.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello jguti,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your external display connected via HDMI is not being detected by the computer.  At this point, the best bet for your next troubleshooting step would be to reset the system:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.

  • I have a macbook pro. what equipment do i need to watch my computer on my flat screen tv?

i have a macbook pro. what equipment do i need to watch my computer on my flat screen tv? thank you.

Step 1. Peek in the back of the TV and identify what kind of inputs it has. Ideally, you'd want an HDMI socket, followed by a DVI or in worst case, analog VGA. Try to determine what's the "native resolution" of the panel.
Step 2. Based on what you find, peruse in the Apple Store (Mac Accessories /  Cables section, if online) for the appropriate dongle/converter. One end goes to the Thunderbolt/MiniDisplay Port on the Mac, other end depending on the output to feed to the TV. Also buy the corresponding cable of the desired length.
Step 3. Plug everything together. You have to decide whether to use display mirroring (Mac & TV show the same thing) or separate displays (each shows different stuff).
Step 4. Based on 1 and 3, open System Preferences / Displays and adjust screen resolution(s) for optimum viewing pleasure. The Mac's display usually far exceeds the external display's max resolution capabilities, so you have to downsize as needed, if in mirroring mode.
    Step 5. Enjoy the results.
Edit: If your TV  has HDMI input AND your MacBook Pro is a Retina, you can skip the first half of step 2. The Mac already has HDMI output port, so you just need the cable.

What operating system version, and do you have any backups of your data off the machine? TimeMachine? Option Key bootable clones? Storage? DVD's?
A reinstall of the operating system may be in order as a last resort, so if any of these steps on these links get you into the machine, make sure to backup your personal data (Music, Pictures, Documents, Movies) off the machine to a non-encrypted  powered external drive regular storage drive (not TimeMachine as it might be corrupted too) and disconnect as soon as possible.
Good Luck and report back all what you tried.
Also report what change occured before this tragedy happened, was there a  Software Update? A EFI firmware update? Etc.

why does my mac book pro not show in 1080p on my flat screen. My mac bookpro always showed in 1080p on a Sanyo Plasma screen. Now when I connect mac book pro I get a blank screen. It will display in 720 but not 1080p. Also will show in 1080i but pictures flicker.

Please help us to help you by providing relevant information about your MacBook Pro — which model is it? Which version of OS X is installed on it? Is its battery fully charged? • Newest verison of FCP for pre-Intel G5? Flat-screen TV as monitor?

I have a pre-Intel G5 and I'd like to upgrade my FCP Suite. Which version is the "highest" I can use on my computer? I'm pretty sure the newest version is built around the Intel chips and will work slowly on my computer, so I want to get the version that will be best on my system. I'm producing a feature film (shot on 24p SD with a Panasonic AG-DVX100b) and although things are working now (I currently have FCP HD 4.5), I'd like the added bells and whistles of a newer version.
I'd also like to add a TV/monitor to my system because the video appears much darker on my monitors than on a regular TV (even after I calibrated them for video using a Huey Pro color calibrator). I currently have the captured video feeding from my computer through a cheap mini-DV camera via Firewire and then to the TV via RCA cables, which works sporadically, and I also have a SONY DVMC-DA2 analog-to-digital (and vice versa) converter box that works, again, sporadically. Is there a better way to set this up (I probably need to buy an editing deck), and has anyone had any luck (or would anyone advise) using a new 720p flat screen as a TV/monitor?
I have some other questions, but I'll ask those later. I appreciate any comments anyone might have.
    Thanks,
    Lloyd

FCS2 (aka FCP 6) is the last version for PPC machines.
If you are editing DV, keep your existing TV. Playing it back on an HDTV is not the way to go.
Use something like the Matrox MXO to feed the TV.

  • Can I use a flat screen monitor with my Power Mac G$?

Can I connect my Power Mac G4 (model M5183) to a modern flat screen monitor? I already tried it with a small flat screen TV which works fine with my MacBook Pro but couldn't make it work with the G4. I only need the G4 for a SCSI slide scanner that I use occasionally, and would love to get rid of the mostrosity of a monitor that came with the G4. I've updated the processor in the G4 to 1 GHz and run it with OS 10.5.8.

Hi Ron, what ports are on the G4's Video card? VGA, DVI, or AGP?
    Which Video card?
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac.
Then click on More Info>Hardware>Graphics/Displays and report like this...
    NVIDIA GeForce 7800GT:

  • Connecting to flat screen tv

I am trying to connect my Macbook Pro to my LG 32in Flat screen using an HDMI (Belkin) cable. Done everything supposed to do including turning off macbook and tv during connection. when all said and done and correct connections made (HDMI 1 port on TV) nothing appears on TV screen, e.g. macbook desktop does not appear nor video.
Any suggestions or comments as to what I (could possibly) am doing wrong.
    Thanks!

You may have a defective adapter. As the previous user stated, which Mac Book Pro model do you have? 2011, 2010, 2009, etc? The problem may also be your TV believe it or not. When I called support for the Belkin product, they told me to try using another TV. I connected to a different TV and all of sudden the adapter started working. So, you have a few options: Try a different TV, Take the adapter back and get a new one, Try connectiong using a VGA or DVI adapter.... If you get absolutely nothing on the TV, not even flickering, the problem is most likely the adapter. I don't see the problem being your Graphics card, because depending on your model of MBP you wouldn't have a pciture on your laptop screen. SO, EXCHANGE THE ADAPTER, or try the adapter on a friends MBP or even at the store.... Good Luck, also this is not the first time this has been a problem. This is actually a problem that occurs quite often amongst the mac book pro users. I myself have gone through 4 different adapters. They all worked at some point and all failed at different times ranging from: 1 week, 3 weeks, 2 months and 2 days. Have fun!

  • Mackbook Pro + Aperture 3 + 1TB drive + Time Machine + Carbonite....work f

    Mackbook Pro + Aperture 3 + 1TB drive + Time Machine + Carbonite....work flow?
I have Carbonite On-Line back up running incremental (wifi to the cloud) backup in the background I just learned that I can nominate folders for it to ignore..
So... to prevent it grinding away needlessly using up resources, I was daydreaming I would import RAW files from my camera into to a "TEMP" folder that I would have Carbonite ignore
I am disciplined at sorting through shots directly after importing them..
Perhaps I can also get Time Machine to ignore that "TEMP" folder too? (Although hard drive storage is less of a worry...
This way I only back up 'keeper shots'?
Am I getting warm? Is this a valid workflow / back up regime?
I hear Aperture 3 has file management functions that are helpful.. But I am not up to speed with what they are...
Carbonite WONT back up attached drives - only the Laptop own drive.. And I want my 'keeper' library shots on two back up systems..
Am I missing a trick? Looking for do's and donts - pitfalls to avoid etc.. I want to set things up the right way from the beginning, I plan to migrate all my RAW operations from iPhoto / Elements set up on a MBAir to a new MBPro running Aperture 3 in about a week.
    Suggestions please..
    Thanks in advance!

During the initial setup for TM, there was one screen that required username wd_backup and password admin. Later I changed the username for the TM folder to garyham58 and a personal password. That is the username and password I am looking for.
As I understand it, the original name and password were supplied by WD and stored on the NAS. Any changes would have been stored on the NAS. And resetting it would have to be done via the NAS.
I would think that there is some way to reset TM and start from scratch
I fear you may have already done part of that, inadvertently, since the folder shows no contents.
But it's not a password for the Time Machine application; it's the sharing of the WD disk, which is done by WD. When you back up with Time Machine to a simple external HD, there is no password for the drive. When you back up over a network to a Time Capsule, or a USB drive connected to it, you set up the password, if any, via Airport Utility, and I believe that's stored by the router as well as in the keychain on your Mac.
Do you still have the original 250 GB HD? If so, your best bet may be to get an enclosure for it, from http://www.macsales.com/ or the like. You can put the HD into it and connect it to your Mac via USB or FireWire, and it will become a normal external HD. Then you can start up from it and "clone" the HD to the new one.
Then you might be able to re-establish contact with the WD, and see your backups, unless they got erased during all the problems, or erase it and start over.

I have a MackBook Pro I updated to Maverick and now my internet won't open and all my programs freeze and I have to restart my computer. The only program that doesn't freeze is Microsoft Word.

Back up your documents and everything else important to you, not that there is any reason to believe your hard disk may be failing, but the symptoms you describe may presage an impending disk failure, and you should have backups anyway.

Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well.
