Mackie Control Pro drawing too much power from usb?

I have a Mackie Control Universal Pro connected to my 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB rom, running OSX 10.5.4.
When I first hooked up my Mackie Control Pro (about 1 year ago) it worked perfectly. A bout 2 months ago my computer wouldn't recognize it anymore. I keep getting this message telling me the device is drawing too much power from USB port and due to that it will shut down that specific port.
My MCP is plugged to the electrical outlet and shouldn't need to be drawing power via the USP. I tried disconnecting all other devices hooked up via USB and Firewire beside the keyboard and mouse but same massage keep coming.
I checked the MCP to make sure the electrical wire was plugged in properly and supplying it with power, I also tried hooking it up with different USB cables via different ports but problem still there.
Can anybody help me out please this is starting to be a big head ache. Any help would be great.

Not 30 seconds after submitting the question I did just that. I felt stupid not thinking of that simple check. Thanks for the quick reply. It worked just fine with another cable. It appears we need a new cable for my daughter....

My daughter plugged her iPod into the USB port of our iMac today, something she has been doing for months and months, and yet this time she was greeted with an error message telling her that something was drawing too much power from the USB port, so my iMac was shutting down that port. You need to plug in the power cord that was included with the printer and then use it with USB, or use the power cord included with the printer and access it wirelessly from your iMac. I access my Canon MP560 wirelessly from my iMac, which works well.

WD Legacy External Hard Drive "Draws too much power from USB"

I have a nice MacBook Pro running Leopard, a year or so old and I've never had any issues with it. I used a WD Legacy 250GB External Hard Drive for Time Machine to back up all my stuff. It has its own power source, and the USB cable works fine because I use it with my printer all the time. However, even with both the laptop and the hard drive plugged in, my laptop automatically disconnects the hard drive because the "USB is drawing too much power".
It didn't happen when I initially backed stuff up on it, and it plugs in and works fine with a desktop. Is there any way to disable the automatic disconnect for drawing too much power through a USB? I don't understand how that's even possible because the external hard drive has its own power source, and I just want my stuff backed up. I could care less if it ***** the charge out of my laptop for a few minutes if that means it will work. I've considered getting a powered USB HUD, but wanted to get everyone else's opinion first. Contact the manufacturer. I think the power pack for the drive is not functioning properly.

Sometimes you have to reset the SMC two or three times for it to work, don't know why. I've seen that error message before and 100% of the time it was fixed with an SMC reset. I suppose it's possible that your keyboard or mouse IS drawing too much power, do you have access to another you could try?

Try a different USB cord, seen this many many times, its highly likely a damaged USB cord.

I only have one charger for this iPad all my other chargers are for iPhone 4s. I have pluggerd it in different outlets around the house and the iPad will not charge. I have the same problem on my Air. The message first came up while my iPhone was connected to it for some time. Since then, it pops up ALL THE TIME, whithout anything being connected to the USB port, at what appear to be random intervals that vary between about one hour and a few seconds. Now in contrast to every other thread on this i get this error message eveytime i connect my soundcard (interface). Not when i start up the mac or anything, just when i connect the sound card. (the soundcard does not have its own power source but note that this has never happened before and i have had this soundcard for about a year!)
It deactivates so i cannot use it.
I have tried:
Connecting the soundcard to my mothers mac -> it worked!
Connecting an external harddrive to my mac -> it worked!
so basically, i can't be the soundcard or the cable and it cannot be the mac USB port?
I don't know what to do! i really need this to work! anyone got an idea??

I am getting this error since recently when I am using my MBP:
"Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer..."
The 'funny' thing: there is no USB device attached to the computer (only power and monitor cables).
Why is this happening and what could I do about it?
Appreciate your ideas?

If you just bought the iMac and the Sjuperdrive take the superdrive back and get a refund. The by any other brand external DVD drive that connects by USB and try that. Most come with a Y USB cable to allow you to connect to 2 USB ports to supply enogh power to the drive IF Needed.
Or take both back and get a refund on both, you have 14 days to return it no questions asked, and buy another iMac and some other brand external DVD drive.
