MacMail not working with iCloud.

Question

It works perfectly on my Mac that does not have Lion or iCloud but not on the one I upgraded.
I have 3 options for Outgoing Mail Server:
smtp.mac.com:  says offline
smtp.me.com: is fine
iCloud (Cloud): is fine
i have tried all 3 and I still have no connection to the internet. you can be sure I do have internet because I am here writing this now.
I have tried deleting and restoring within Mail pref's and System Pref > iCloud and still no luck. (I have restarted as well)
As I said, it works fine on all my other computers that are still MobileMe and 10.6+

Additionally, and weirdly: i just sent myself an eail from macmail with smtp.me.com after i got the notice of an invalid certificate. It spun and spun for about a minute and then the email went thru and i see it in iCloud mail. But the last email received on macmail was April 21.

IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
Server name: imap.mail.me.com
SSL Required: Yes
Port: 993
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
SSL Required: Yes
Port: 587
SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
Password: Your iCloud password
Note: If you receive errors using SSL, try using TLS instead.
Additional Information
SSL is required for both IMAP and SMTP connection with iCloud. POP is not supported by iCloud. 
Of course you can use yours if you want.
