MacMini (2011) problem with Thunderbolt display if 2nd monitor is connected via HDMI/DVI adapter
Hi,
iam running a MacMini (2011) 2.3GHz i5 with Mac OS X 10.7.4 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 256 GB Samsung SSD.
If i connect a Thunderbolt display only - all is fine.
But if i connect a 2nd monitor ( Samsung S23A700) via HDMI / DVI adapter (original Apple) the major screen (Thunderbolt Display) sometimes
is going black and immidiately back to normal. It looks like that it happens very often if i scroll down with the Apple Magic Mouse.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Thomas
I have exactly the same problem. MacMini Server i7 (mid 2011) Macmini5.3.16Gb ram.
Mini and Thunderbolt no blink-outs.
Mini and Thunderbolt and Dell 23" connected to HDMI-DVI connector, the Thunderbolt display blinks out when system is under stress as in the Develop module of Lightroom 4.
I thought it was a problem with my Thunderbolt display, and since its on a VESA mount, I didn't really want to haul in in to the Apple Store. I decided to be sure it was the dosplay...
I borrowed a MacbookPro i7 and ran it from a clone of my Mini. No problems aster hours of use. (But with only ONE monitor.) That suggested that there was no problem with the Thunderbolt Display.
I decided to run the Mini with only one display. Again no problems. I plugged in the Second monitor to the HDMI port and within 2 minutes I had my first "Blink-Out".
I ran the rest of the day without the second monitor with no problems.
I conclude the mini will not work reliably with two monitors if one is a Thunderbolt.
I was using two Dell Monitors before I got the Thunderbolt Diskplay (for 3 months) without incident.

Lightroom 4.2 - Experiencing problems with images viewed on 2nd monitor
Hi All,
This problem seems to have started with my updating from 4.1 to 4.2. I have my second monitor set as Loupe - Normal and Fit. As I crop an image on my main monitor, the 2nd monitor view does not always change to the cropped view. If I switch to a different photo and then back to the one I just cropped, the 2nd monitor view will then show the cropped image, but it is almost always blurry. Sometimes I can click the image in the 2nd monitor view to change to a 1:1 view and it will look sharp, and then click again back to Fit and then it too will be sharp. Other times I get a message in the 2nd monitor view that says "no image selected" and bouncing back and forth between a different image will correct this.
This all started off with the majority, but not all cropped images showing as blurred and progressed to what I have described above. I seriously though I had a focus problem with my camera!
Is anyone else experinecing this since updating? Suggestions?
Below is the suggested information to provide...
What version of Lightroom? 4.2
Have you installed the recent updates? Yes, 4.2
What operating system? Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
What kind(s) of image file(s)? All images are converted to .dng upon import
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)? No error messages.
What were you doing when the problem occurred? I am in the develop module cropping images etc.
What other software are you running? Silver Efex Pro 2, but I have had that installed in many prior versions of Lightroom
Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed? 32 GB - Yes, I know - overkill...
How much free space is on your system (C:) drive? 119 GB of 223 GB of my solid state drive c:\
Has this ever worked before? Yes
If so, do you recall any changes you made to Lightroom, such as adding Plug-ins, presets, etc.? No other changes other than updating to 4.2
Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers, or installing/uninstalling any programs? No, no other changes.
Thanks!Same problem. Not a soloution, but this may be relevant.

Lightroom 4.3 - Focus problems with images viewed on 2nd monitor
I had this problen on 4.2 and heard there was a fix, but alas the problem has cropped up for me agian. 2nd monitor in Loupe Mode. It doesn't seem to render the image, it's just soft, on the verge of pixalation. The quickest solution is to quit LR and re-satrt and it works for a while.

Problems with thunderbolt display
This problem only presents itself when my 27" TB dispaly is connected to my Early 2011 13" MBP. I have 2 256GB SSD installed with 16GB RAM. I am using a magic mouse and the bluetooth keyboard.
When my TB Display is connected to my MBP the magic mouse is behaving strangely. It loses connectivity and then will reconnect. It also is not tracking well at all. The mouse will jump places on the screen, delayed response, and skip A LOT. Again this only happens when it's connected to the TB display.
I have tried resetting SMC and PRAM. I have also tried a different magic mouse and the problem still persists. Apple "Genius" could not help me at all. Sometimes restarting or shutting down will help for a short while but the problem always comes back.
Does anyone else have this problem?I spoke too soon - still got the same problems. Thought at one point I had a faulty power cable but that is not the problem.
The behaviour is wier :-
1. I Boot my Mac Mini. Screen stays black. I hear the small fans spin in the Thunderbolt and air comes out of the vents. So the power must be on...
2. My iPhone, attached to Thunderbolt via USB, beeps as it starts to charge, then it stops charging, then it beeps to start charging and off again - and so on. Eventually this stops but the screen does not come on.
Tried for over an hour, checking connections ,rebooting the Mini etc etc. Then eventually for no apparent reason it came on. Rebooted several times, and it workd again.
This behaviour started after weeks of no problems, but then I moved the screen to plug something into the USB port.
Beginning to wonder if the behaviour is consistent with the screen sleeping over and over again.. Have switched off the energy saver settings on the mini but don't know if this will help.

May be this question has been asked thousand times. how do I use my mid 2011 iMac ( with thunderbolt) as external monitor for laptop/Xbox or other device with hdmi as output. if apple hasn't removed that feature and has just moved that functinoality to thunderbolt then how can I use it. currently there is no laptop available with thunderbolt output. no 3rd party converter available. whats the use of having feature on latest functionality if we cant use it. I wish they would have made one port has mini-dvi and other thunderbolt for backward compatibility untill some vendor comes up with converter.
It Says :
Mac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) and iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) and later computers support Target Display Mode via Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt cable (2 m) when the source is another Thunderbolt-equipped computer.
Name one computer model/vendor which has thunderbolt as output for display + audio. this is so stupid to move to new technology without availbility of its compatible devices. -
Every time I try to open photoshop I get a window that pops up and says:
"Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturer's website for the latest software.
GPU enhancements can be enable in the Performance panel of Preferences."
Then windows shuts the program down. The details of the problem are:
"Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\WER70AD.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9389.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9407.tmp.hdmp"
I'm on a custom Asus
I'm using Win7 Home Premium 64-bit
16GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 2GB video card
Intel i7 core 2.2 GHz
12 GB of memory
The error happens so quickly that I don't have time to do anything. Please help. >.< I've been on hold for *checks phone* 2 hours exactly. Wow. It is a legit copy and was working last month with no trouble. I've updated the drivers and tried a few solutions that have worked for other people that I found on Google (such as disabling CUDA and setting my "power management mode" to "prefer maximum performance" on my video card) but so far nothing has worked.
Thanks in advance! It has stopped crashing because somehow it turned off "Enable GL Drawing" on its own because I could never even get a menu open. Not sure how it did that but I am grateful. I still get the error when I open Photoshop up but at least it hasn't crashed yet. At the time when it was crashing I never would have been able to get you the system info due to the speed that it was crashing upon just opening the program. In case you still need it:

OS X 10.7.2.2 issues with Thunderbolt Display
Help! With Thunderbolt display, Mac-mini and OS X 10.7.2.2 I get a blank screen when mini reawakens from sleep. Moving the cursor around like a paint brush reveals a portion of the underlying log-in screen. Once I uncover my user icon and log-in, my desktop will appear and function normally!!!
IS this caused by (1) the Thunderbolt display, (2) the latest Lion update or a combination of both ? I experienced no problems with older display and Lion 10.7 !!
Any solutions/recommendations?Hello Drew,
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions. -
WHEN or HOW to fix the problem with Thunderbolt/Side screen problems
WHEN or HOW to fix the problem with Thunderbolt/Side screen problems (Cinema screen). Keeps blinking on & off then eventually completely off. Would have thought Apple would have fixed the problem by now as it is apparently to do with the Thunderbolt connector!.

Xbox or ps3 with thunderbolt display
I was thinking of making the following layout.
a macbook pro connected to the the thunderbolt display, then a promise pegasus connected to the back of the display.
then a xbox or ps3 connected via hdmi to the blackmagic intensity extreme and the intensity extreme connected to the promise pegasus.
will I be able to play my console on the display?
best regards Rui ChenYes we're thinking the same. I've got a thunderbolt display connected to my 2011 mbp and I want to connect a blackmagic intensity extreme on the thunderbolt port on the back of the display. This should work since thunderbolt is bi-directional and all ports are in and out, and you can connect accessories/ devices anywhere on the chain with the exception of the displays which must be on the end. One major question I have is can we view the video feed with the blackmagic software full screen? All screen shots on the companies website indicate it will be ran in a window, I don't see a full screen button for the video anywhere on there...

I brought my macbook pro on sept 2011 and I'm having problems with the display. It exhibits an airbrush-like green color (mostly at startup). At first, this issue didn't last long-about 30 seconds-but now it can last several minutes. It doesn't affect the performance of the macbook, only how everything looks. Here are links with photos adressing the issue:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/68743766@N07/6253682620/I have done some reading on the low power problem, but I don't think this is it, unless it messed up the monitor. I have hooked the monitor up to my laptop and it has the same noise problems. I am thinking the monitor may be bad. I was very curious why system profiler was listing this as a CRT monitor, though. Does Apple pull this information from a common location, or is it supplied from the monitor itself. I am wondering if it has some legacy information still from my old CRT that I was using (and didn't have a dim video problem with).

Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver
I rummaged around in here looking at opengl topics and others associated with the above error, but I'm not seeing what I'm encountering (or I am and I don't recognize it!).....
I bought CS4 a week or so ago, and installed it on a system running XP32 with service pack 3, 4GB of ram withe the /3GB switch set, nVidia 8600 GT card (which according to the list is supported), and multiple spindles for images, scratch, applications, and so on. I found other topics earlier so I downloaded the most recent drivers for my video card.
I'm not crashing and burning, but I'm getting some messages...
I opened an image, and while working on it I wanted to do a transform/warp. I got the message that Photoshop couldn't perform the operation because there wasn't enough memory. It didn't crash but I had to shut down CS4 and restart it to do the warp.
Most recently I opened a couple images for a panorama, and while doing the merge I got the message that "Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled gpu enhancements." It tells me to check for the latest drivers - I've ALREADY got the lastest drivers. Again, no crash, just the warning. It completed the panorama.
There have been a couple other occurrences of messages of this type, so I'm curious if there's some set of preferences or system settting I need to adjust to optimize things? I've alrady adjusted the nVidia settings because I also run Lightroom and they're having problems too.
I've read the tech notes for the video and such and didn't find any set of optimizations there so is there a set of adjustments beyond the preferences that needs to be adjusted to improve memory and video performance? And if so, can someone point me to them.As I understand it (suspect at best) XP32 can address 4 gig of memory. the /3gb switch lets the applications get at 3 gig of that. If my video card takes the first 256MB, and XP is guaranteed the other 750 of the 1st gig, and in the CS4 performance preferences I should be giving it from 1462 - 1895 MB (I've given it around 1890), that leaves me with another gig or so... Is that limited to applications or can XP use it? In any case, I'm not crashing, I just get the message every so often about being out of memory. I don't recall ever seeing this with CS3, but new version, new oddities...

Problem with the Display Driver
Hi.
I just got this message when I started Adobe Photoshop today, that's the CS4 edition, about that there was a problem with the Display driver: "Photoshop have encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturer's website for the latest software. GPU enhancements can be enabled in the Performance panel of Preferences"
My problem is not what to do but how to do it. I went to System profiler and found something "ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro, and: Chipset Model: ATI,RadeonHD2600".
And so I want to ATI's website but can't find what I'm looking for.
Any help?I have cs6 - master collection. I bought it on last december and i didn't upgrade it.
"After Effects" works for some minutes and then it stucks and give the massege above
"Display driver NVIDIA Windows kernel Mode Driveer, Version 334.89 stopped, responding and has succesfully recovered."
and preimer works and suddenly the computer crashes not before giving the massege :
"The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver due to exceeding the Windows Time-Out limit and is unable to continue.
The aaplication must close. error code: 7"
I have new computer :
proccesor :Intel Core i7-4700MQ Haswell 2.4GHz

I am getting an error encountered problem with the display driver for my Photoshop CS5 extended
I have Windows 7 and have used CS5 extended with no problems for quite a while now.
Last week I started up CS5 and received the error:
"Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturers website for the latest software. GPU enhancements can be enabled in the Performance panel of Preferences."
"Please close program and uninstall and re-install if problem persists"
I was able to edit, however when I went to save my work it would not do so. The following error came up.
"Could not complete the command because the extension could not be loaded"
"Could not save a copy as .....because of a program error"
I checked to make sure I have the latest driver, I also uninstalled and re-installed the program and I am still getting the errors.
Can anyone help with this?Error 1402 | Error 1406 | Acrobat, Reader
