Macmini 2012, Mountain Lion, Logitech C600 webcam USB Mic...

OK.
So I got the new macmini 2012(base model). Got 10.8.2 on it and a webcam Logitech C600.
Everything works fine (no additional drivers needed). The problem comes when sometimes (randomly) the mic stops working. It is a USB mic integrated in the webcam. I am thinking it has something to do when the monitor goes to sleep, but still cannot find the reason. It sometimes happen after fresh restart. When I disconnect and reconnect the webcam it goes ok. Any ideas?

BDAqua is right Hristokirev. I solved this problem myself with this issue before. Coz I also have a C600. Also if your C600 video display resolution is crap, go to quicktime player then go to movie recording and click on high recording quality on it so you can manually adjust the resolution. So yeah when I first plug this camera it didn't had a 720p quality feature, but its just that you have to manually change the settings in it itself.

  • How do I get my macmini running Mountain Lion to see my Canon USB printer connected to my Airport Extreme? I have a macbook pro running leopard and that works fine. The versions of airport utility are different and I can't even see the printer from new 1

I am having trouble seeing my usb printer from my second gen airport extreme using the newest version of airport utility under Mountain Lion. UGH! And while I can see and network to my Canon IP5000 from my macbook pro running leopard, I can't from my new macmini running Mountain Lion. Any help would be appreciated in configuring my macmini so it can see the Canon IP5000 on the airport extreme. Don't want to "share" the printer from the laptop because that would be a cludge. Thanks ahead

I solved this one based on another post. Turned out I needed the snow leopard IP5000 driver. I had just copied over the leopard driver (I had saved my .dmg file) and installed that but it didn't work. So I downloaded the latest driver which turned out to be for snow leopard and I am guessing since it is 64bit that is why it worked and the leopard driver didn't. Anyway, I also had to hook the printer up via usb to the mac mini to get it to work locally before the O/S would see it over Bonjour via the airport extreme.

After installed win7 on my mac pro(mid 2012/mountain lion), I can not connect internet and where can i find drivers in mountain lion system.
I donot think I have a install disk when I bought my mac, there is only a disc partition for recovery system.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You have to install Boot Camp drivers. On Mountain Lion, you have to download them.
First, press X key while your Mac is starting to start into OS X. Then, open Boot Camp Assistant and select the option to download the drivers. You will have to burn them into a DVD or USB drive, so after downloading them, restart and install them into Windows

  • My Mac Book Pro using Mountain Lion will show a usb headset with a mic to select in the settings window. But the Rosetta Stone software I am using will not find the mic for me to select and use. What should I do?

Mac Book Pro with OS X Mountain Lion will not recognize headset mic via Rosetta Stone software. What should I do?

    Hi Illaass,
I am using version 3. I have used the apple/settings on my mac. The headset is appearing there and it is selected there. In the Rosetta Stone select/find window nothing shows up. It is blank. But the volume bars react when I speak and sliding the fader has the expected effect of raising and lowering the input. There is just no device showing up as the selected input device in the Rosetta Stone software.
I have done everything my Mac instructions say to uninstall and reinstall the Rosetta Stone software properly.
I'm guessing the problem may be in the licensing. I installed it first on the old hard drive that crashed. Maybe that used the terms of the license and now installing it in the new hard drive violates the license somehow. So that's why it will not work properly. It allows me to open the lessons and asks me if I want to continue from where I left off. I click continue. Then it asks me if I want to register the software. I click the tab for already registered software and click continue. Then nothing happens. So again I click on the button that indicates I want to continue lessons from where I left off. The same process happens with it asking me if I want to register the software. And it will not proceed through a lesson.

  • No Entry Sign when trying to netboot new MacMini to Mountain Lion Server

My company just purchased a new MacMini i5 2.5 GHz and I am trying to netboot it to my Mountain Lion Server 10.8.2 but I am getting the No Entry sign when it tries to boot to the server.  I tested my other Mac computers that are in my environment and they are able to netboot to the server fine.  It just seems to be an issue with this latest Mac Mini.
As part of my troubleshooting, I created a new netrestore image from the new Mac Mini using System Image Utility on the Mountain Lion Server.  The server successfully created it and I set it as the new default image in the NetBoot server.  After taking these steps, I am still getting a No Entry sign.
I checked the log on the server to see what is happening when it tries to boot and this is what is displays:

    I'm seeing the same behavior with a new Late 2012 Macmini6,2 (2.3GHz quadcore i7).
I have a lab with several variants of minis up through the last generation.  One of those minis is a NetBoot/DeployStudio server.  I have it hosting a 10.8.2 NetBoot image, which works for all of the other lab minis but this new one.
I have tried 3 different methods for NetBoot:
Holding the 'N' key at boot
Holding option and seeing my NetBoot disk in the selectable options
Booting into the restore partition and selecting my NetBook disk from the Startup Disk preference pane
All 3 options result in what is described above - the Ghostbusters (minus the ghost) no entry sign.  My particular mini then shuts itself down shortly thereafter.
My NetBoot server log looks similar to the above, where my BSD INFORM messages have sysid=Macmini6,2.
I have confirmed that - on the restore partition at least - the shipping OS on the new mini 6,2 is 10.8.1.  It's likely a custom edition for this new hardware.  It's possible that a component of a 10.8.3 update would fix it, but I'm unfortunately leaning toward this being an EFI firmware issue.  I've noted on another site that these minis seem to have issues with VMware's ESXi, where the suggested course of action will be an Apple firmware update: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/423099
As the lab is hoping to purchase 40 of these systems, NetBoot support is rather critical.

  • Hi, I have a late 2008 iMac with a new hard drive. How do I install Mountain Lion from my bootable USB flash drive.

How do I install Mountain Lion to a new hard drive without having the recovery partition on it.
I have the USB flash drive with software on it but when I switch my Mac on all I have is a white screen & a flashing question mark.
    ATB,
    Steve.

Did you use LionDiskMaker or DiskMaker X?
Boot the machine with the option key down until you see your bootable USB stick.  Select the latter, and reboot.
When the installer boots up, you will first need to choose Utilities and Disk Utility. Select the target HD device name and then the partition tab. Select 1 partition, name it Macintosh HD. Format is Mac OS Extended, and option is GUID. Apply. Exit Disk Utility and return to the installer, which will now show your newly partitioned HD as available for install.
When OS X is installed and all updates applied, press shift+command+U and run disk utility again. Verify/repair permissions and verify the boot disk.

  • How to perform a clean install of Mountain Lion on MBA without usb?

I purchased a new MBA last November and I want to perform a clean install of Mountain Lion (for various reasons), however, the MBA didn't come with an install usb drive from Apple.  When I go to the app store it says I need to buy the OS even though it's already on my computer.  After all the searching I've done I can't find the answer on what I need to do.  Do I need to buy Mountain Lion even though it came with my computer?  Please help, thanks!

If you purchased your MacBook Air in November, it means that your Mac already came with OS X Mountain Lion, so even if the App Store tells you that you haven't purchased it, the truth is that it's registered to your Apple ID and you can redownload it without any problem.
Hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting to start up into OS X Recovery and try to reinstall OS X. It will ask you for the Apple ID you used to set up your MacBook Air, so introduce it. If the OS X download starts, close the installer by pressing the red button at the top left corner of the window, because you can reinstall OS X.
Then, open Disk Utility, choose Macintosh HD in the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the drive. Finally, close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X. Make a backup of your data before erasing your disk

Here is a similar model that I still use and it works as well:
    http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/model.cfm?txtSeriesID=782&txtModelID=3915
That one has two RS-422 ports.
Their drivers for Mountain Lion work perfectly, as do the earlier ones for PPC Macs. I have used it with every OS X version since Jaguar.
It does install a kernel extension but as far as I have been able to tell, it is well-behaved and I have experienced no conflicts. The .kext is not active unless the adapter is actually connected.
Follow the driver installation instructions carefully - the adapter must be disconnected while installing the driver or the installer package will crash. The package installer dialog tells you this.
Here is a summary from my notes:
Disconnect the Keyspan adapter from your Mac. If you do not disconnect the adapter, the installer package will crash.
Open the downloaded zipfile to expand the keyspanUSAdrvr installer package.
Read the "Important Information", authenticate when necessary, and complete the installation. The Keyspan driver is a kernel extension necessary for the Keyspan adapter to work.
Connect the Keyspan adapter after the installer completes.
An alert may appear indicating that "new network interfaces were detected" and need to be configured. You may ignore this alert, and you may delete the three Keyspan network interfaces that will now appear in System Preferences > Network. OS X seems to think these are dialup modem drivers. They are not used for printing. The alert will not reappear.
A logout / login or reboot should be optional to ensure the driver is loaded. If in doubt, reboot.
With the adapter connected and its driver correctly installed, the kernel extension will now appear in System Information as KeyspanUSAdriver.
In Applications, locate and open Keyspan Serial Assistant. When the adapter has been connected its serial port names will appear in this window. Clicking the reveal triangle will show their names.
KeySerial1 is an alias to the first port on the first Keyspan adapter connected to your Mac. The names USA28XxxxxP1.1 and USA28XxxxxP2.2 will change if the adapter is connected to a different USB port. Connect your serial device to Port 1 on the adapter, and use KeySerial1 for the serial port name. Otherwise it will be necessary to change the name of your serial port every time you change which USB port the Keyspan is using.
Leave Keyspan Serial Assistant in your Applications folder since you may need it to refer to these names in the future.
To uninstall the Keyspan driver software, open Keyspan Serial Assistant, select "Uninstall USB Serial Extension" from the Settings menu, and follow the instructions. Administrator authentication is required to uninstall the driver. The extension will then be eradicated from your system. The only remaining files are the Keyspan Serial Assistant application, the installer package, and the downloaded zipfile. To completely delete everything drag all these files to the Trash.
Keyspan had previously labeled their OS X 10.8 driver a "beta" version, which worked fine. They since dropped the "beta" label. Hopefully this indicates they are interested in continued support. In any event I doubt any updates would be required for future OS X versions any time soon, since it is already a 64 bit driver.

  • Does Mountain Lion bring back Apple USB modem support?

I was one of those individuals shocked to realize that Apple failed to update the driver for the Apple USB modem from 32 bit to 64 bit in Lion thus killing everyone's abilty to fax from their Mac.
When I spoke to Apple Support last week, the individual hinted that Apple was going to do right and ship a 64 bit driver so people could start using their modems again for faxing.
Can anyone with the Gold Release confirm that the functionality is back or not?

Thanks for the reply. Still curious if Apple did right by their customers as the support rep implied that they would. I can't confirm either because I discovered tonight that I can't upgrade to Mountain Lion yet until Mariner Software decides to make one of their products compatible with 10.8.  Starting to think I need to find an alternative to their product.

  • Mountain Lion via clean install (USB) but wont read dvd/cd

I did a clean install of my mountain lion on my Mid-2009 MacbookPro 15". Everything was running fine. Until I tried to burn a cd. Thought it was a media issue. So didn't bother burning the disc after all. Then I tried playing an audio cd, the systems thinks it's an empty disc. Next tried to load my Snow Leopard installation disc (DVD), it got ejected too. All i get is the following with all cds and dvd, burnt or blank also the same.
I have tried repairing disk permissions before system bootup and also after system bootup via disk utilities. It didn't fix the problem.
I also tried blowing the superdrive with a camera lens blower. Didn't help either.
What else can I do before bringing it to the Genius bar?
    Thanks.

I am lucky to have stumbled upon this thread. The drive was dirty.
I took a membership ID plastic card wrapped a lens cloth over, sprayed some glasses cleaning solution, swipe it inside the drive a couple of times... and voila it worked!

  • OS X Mountain Lion Circle Slash on USB Installation

I have Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 and trying to install Mountain Lion on my unsupported iMac, I followed the thread http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1325818 to do this on my MacBook late 2006 worked perfect. But when I create a parition on Lion, and restore the partition using Disk Utility to InstallESD.dmg everything went suceessfull except when I try this on my 17" iMac 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo I get a circle slash when booting from the partition no spinning wheel or anything! Been at this since 10:00 AM now it's 11:00 PM I'm tearing my hair out with this one! How can I get this installed? Or how can I remove the circle slash thing?

Sorry, but we cannot assist you with an unauthorized installation of OS X. Look to whomever provided you with the hack for help.
Note that the hack will not work with the current version of Mountain Lion. It only worked with Developer Preview 1.

  • Mountain Lion on Batter Breaks USB/Bluetooth

    Hi:
I have a late 2010 model MacBook Pro (i7).  I have done a fresh install of Moutnain Lion on it and it is much faster than Lion.  However, it has introduced a problem.  My laptop usually sits on my desk with AC power and a single USB cable plugged into it (Belkin USb hub) that runs an EyeTV tuner and a Logitech wireless mouse. After the ML install, it seems like anytime I disconnect that USB cable and take the laptop off AC power, USB and Bluetooth stop working after I then return the laptop to AC power and the USB hub.  The mouse doesn't work and the EyeTV tuner is also missing.  I have to restart OSX to get USB working again.  I don't use Bluetooth but the Bluetooth icon gets a mark on it that says it is inoperable.  Has anyoen else seen this or know what it might be?  I can't really open up a support case as I am no longer under support.

My post title should say "Battery" instead of "Batter"
