Macos 10.9 Mavericks and photosmart c6280 all in one

Hi all,
my problem is that, following the installation procedure for ethernet-connected c6280 on Macos 10.9 Mavericks, the scanner part is not enabled. The printer is working but the scanner is not recognized. So there is no "scanner" tab in the printer/scanner control panel and no "scan" button enabled in any application.
This happen on a clean (from scratch) installation of Mavericks (italian language). I followed the MacOS software update procedure that found no update available.
Starting the same Mac from an old HD with Mavericks updated from previous Macos version with old installation of hp driver everything is working fine, scanning via ethernet included (obviously with same printer).

I noticed your post about the scanning concern you have with your Photosmart C6280 and Mavericks. I will gladly help you with this situation.
There is actually no full feature driver available that includes the scanning portion of the software with this model of printer on 10.9, which is most likely why you see the scanner part not enabled.

However, there is some good news. There are work around options for you to still scan with your 10.9! I would like for you to click on the "How to Scan" link below and scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will see your 3 options for scanning there.

How do I get my HP Photosmart C6280 All-In-One to scan?

I have updated to Mac OS 10.9 the driver for my HP Photosmart C6280 All-In-One, but the scanner function no longer works. The Apple update list shows the update was performed on October 30.
The printer does not show up in the list of printers as a "Bonjour" printer, as the instructions from HP's website indicate it should.

I understand you're having issues printing/scanning with your Photosmart C6280 since upgrading the 10.9 on your Mac. I would like to help you with this as best I can.
The reason your having issues is because the HP software you're using is not designed for the 10.9 operating system. The last full software package HP released for the Photosmart C6280 was for 10.6, so the best option at this point would be to use the in operating system drivers.
To get everything to work properly again, I'm going to link you to how to completely remove the HP software so you can use the Apple software as Sunshyn2005 has described in her post. Once you follow those steps to begin using the Apple software you may not know how to scan using the Apple software and you can learn 3 different ways to do so.

Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer Will not acquire IP Address

I have happily had a Photosmart C6280 for some time now, however I recently replaced my router and my ISP Cable Modem (NetGear WNDR 3700 and Cisco 2100 respectively). At first everything was wonderful. Sadly, my NetGear router went bad and I had to return it. As it stands right now my printer will not take an IP address from the router. I have tried everything I can think of, several times and nothing has changed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software on the Windows 7 and XP machines that I'm using. I have tried to manually set an IP address but on my printer when I'm done inputting all of the information there is no "enter" option. Looking at the Connectivity Status page it states : Network Interface Adaptor Summary

On the front of the printer: Setup > Network > Reset Network Defaults.
Now, set a static IP address for the printer:
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wired along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know this, enter the current IP address.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Need driver for HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One priner

I was given a HP Photosmart C6280 printer but the person did not have the disc that came with it to install the driver. I am technologically disinclined and have no clue what to do. Can someone please tell me where to find a driver for this printer and how to install it? I have tried to use a driver on some other websites, but they want a credit card and quite frankly, I don't trust them.

HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer CIT248813-HPU-REDBOX-v4.exe error

Using-Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3, Network connected
In HP Digital imaging monitor: Went to Help>Check for updates Update file CIT248813-HPU-REDBOX-v4.exe downloads, but after it looks like its installing, I then get the following error message :Critical Update to HP Product Assistant Failed. Where do I get the file and download it by itself, to then try and load it outside of HP Digital imaging monitor?
When I do a search for the .exe file, nothing comes up.

I have tried everything to get my printer working again....and can't seem to do it. So I could use your HELP. When I try to print, it reads add paper. I have plenty of paper in the tray. I have totally unplugged it for days and have restarted the PC. When I have the 4 x 6 photo paper in the tray it prints on that. I'm looking for it to print on the legal size paper.

Windows 7 and Photosmart C6280

I have read that Windows 7 may not allow older printers to function. I am getting close to purchasing a new desktop PC, HP Pavilion HPE h8qe series with Windows 7 and I want to use my HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One printer with it. Can anyone tell me if the printer will work with Windows 7?

C6280 All in One ink error message

Hi there,
I have the HP photosmart C6280 All in One printer that recently requested that I replace the Magenta ink. I did so but when I attempt to print I get the following message.
To print in color, instal the following cartridges:
Magenta
To print with black only, click black only. to begin printing on certain products, press the Resume button on the printer control panel. the printer will replace colors wit grayscale.
To cancel, press the cancel button on printer.
If empty ink cartridge is not replaced soon, all printing will stop.
I have had this issue before and someone told me how to fix it but I can't find the original message or email for it at all but it work fabulous and I think it involved a reset. Can anyone assist me with this, perhaps explain how to reset the C6280.

Removing the ink/power reset procedure can eliminate the cartridge message.

NOTE: step 8 has a hyperlink that is no longer valid. The cleaning of the printheads will affect your color output greatly.

HP Photosmart Premium All-in-one c310a - How to print in black and white

I want to print a color pdf file in b&w on my HP Photosmart Premium All-in-one c310a printer. When I go to "features" -> color options -> grayscale -> in the drop down box, there is only one choice - "high quality". There's no "black ink only" choice as I have seen in forums on similar printers.

If you have the full feature drivers installed for this printer and there isn't a Black Ink Only option under Print in Grayscale, then this printer lacks the feature. Typically the Black Ink Only options follows the drivers for some deskjets and most officejets, because of the office environments they are intended for. Where as Photosmart printers are more aimed at printing photos.

Photosmart premium all in one and wireless G network

Is the new photosmart premium with built-in Ethernet, WiFi 802.11n backward compatible on b/g wireless network? Will it connect wirelessly to my Linksys WiFi 802.11g network?

Yes, 802.11n devices, including our two new Photosmart Premium All-In-One printers, are compatible with 802.11g wireless networks.
A bit of background: the 802.11n standard that was just recently ratified mandates compatibility with 802.11g and 802.11b networks and devices. You can even mix devices on the same network. For example, you can setup a 802.11n network and connect both 802.11n and 802.11g devices and have the 802.11n devices run at 802.11n speeds.
You could also connect 802.11b devices to your 802.11n network though from a performance point of view, that isn't recommended. The presence of any 802.11b devices in vicinity of 802.11g or 802.11n networks degrades those networks.

Hi Tomiwa,
You cannot print from the iPad to that printer. AirPrint and Bluetooth are completely different.
There may be apps you can buy that will enable using that printer, but that is not an ideal solution.
That particular printer has had many bad reviews, and is unreasonably expensive for its features. Considering that you just bought the printer, as well as its lack of AirPrint, I suggest you return it and buy a printer that supports AirPrint.
