MacPro connect to Internet with Ethernet 1 and Ethernet 2
I would like to use both ethernet ports on my MacPro. However, if I connect routers to both ports, I lose my internet connection. I would like to be able to access the internet on both ports.
I would like to be able to use Safari to access the router settings. When I connect routers to both ports Safri is not able to 'see' either router, despoite my putting in the correct local IP addresses.
System preferences > Network shows that both routers are being detected properly.
Can anybody suggest a way forward?

Your Mac will use the connection port listed at the top of the Network preference to connect to the Internet, by default.
You can get it to use both ports at once ONLY if you connect it to ONE Router (e.g., high-end Cisco) designed to use both ports at once, and then only if you turn on additional special features.
Load balancing is not available with current Mac OS X software.

Since the MacBook Pro currently works, you should put it next to the iMac and compare the network settings for AirPort in System Preferences Network pane Advanced. Also, if you want to start off with the default network settings, you can use Location drop down menu and select +Edit Locations+. Then click the plus sign to create a new location. Set up that new location.
On System Preferences Network pane, AirPort should appear at the top of the list (in the sidebar). To change the service order, click on the gear icon and select +Set Service Order+.
Some additional tests you can try, on top of seeing if it works with (1) WEP security disabled and (2) a direct wired connection to the router.
If you get it to work with either (1) or (2), be sure to run Software Update at least two times to apply any recent updates from Apple. See if that makes any difference to using AirPort with WEP back on.
(3) Start up in Safe Mode

I don't know if any third-party software has been installed on the iMac at this point, but Safe Mode will start up with only the essential Apple extensions and processes running. See if it works any better in Safe Mode.
(4) Create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane

Log out and log in to the new account. Try connecting with AirPort in the new account.
(5) Connect the MacBook Pro to the router with a wired Ethernet connection. Make sure its Internet access works. On System Preferences Sharing pane, set it up for +Internet Sharing+ so that it is set to +Share your connection from Ethernet - To computers using AirPort+. On the iMac, try to connect to that wireless network and access the Internet.
That last one (5) may be a good one to try first. It would at least show that the iMac's AirPort is working - you can even set it up to use WEP. If you have any questions about using the +Internal Sharing+ feature, please ask. -
Problem connecting to internet with linksys wtr54gs and mac.
hi i have a macbook(late 2009 model). i am running latest version of macosx. here is my situation.
situation 1: mac plugged into router via ethernet cable. no internet. cannot obtain ip address.
situation 2: mac connected to router via wireless. connected to router but no internet. no ip adress.
situation 3: mac connected to ooma internet phone(ooma is connected to router via ethernet cable)it works. everything is good.
situation 4: my macbook running bootcamp, wireless and wired works great.
whats the problem. i have called linksys and apple and they seem to point the finger at eachother.

Can't connect to internet with Ethernet
I can no longer connect to the Internet through wi-fi or Ethernet.
All tests I run say I am connected to the Internet. This issued just started out of the blue when trying to connect wirelessly in my office only with the iMac, my macbook has no issues.
I contacted Comcast- they ran a bunch of tests and gave me a new modem- there was nothing wrong with the connection.
I brought it into Apple, they insisted it was my Internet connection. this went back and forth between Comcast and Apple a few times.
I contacted Comcast again, had an outlet installed so I wouldn't be wireless and could connect with an Ethernet cable thinking that maybe this was interference of some sort, it worked for a few weeks and then the other day it stopped. Again, I show that I am connected but nothing happens. I plugged in the macbook with the Ethernet and I am connecting fine.
The kicker is, I can physically move my iMac out of the office into another room and can connect perfectly through wi-fi. I am stumped

Canny connect to internet with airport express
I was connected to internet with wireless network using airport xpress and D-link DSL-300T cable modemeverything was fine till i did base station fireware update. Now i can only connect wired with usb modem, (my airtunes still works). Airport status is green and states i am connected to internet via ethernet _though safria is unable to find server. Have tried loads of things but to no success. Tried network assist but network password invalid? though it is correct! Also done hard reset on xpress no joy.

Pls.Likely your ISP uses the PPPoE protocol to connect to clients - and PPPoE doesn't work properly with firmware version 6.2 for the Airport Express.
Downgrade the firmware on your Airport Express back to version 6.1.1 with this software:

"Connected to internet via Ethernet" ... but won't work
Looks like I have it set up correctly. Says "Connected to internet via Ethernet", yet I am getting absolutely no internet. Where have I gone wrong?
Oddly enough, it even says this when there is no ethernet cable plugged into it and is blinking amber.
What is going on?Assuming you have a cable or DSL modem cabled to the Airport Express ethernet port... pull power to both the modem and the Airport Express for five minutes (or up to thirty minutes if you can stand it). Then plug power into the modem and wait a minute. Then plug power into the Airport Express and wait a minute. Hopefully your connection with your ISP will now have reset, and the Airport Express will get an IP address and show a solid green status light.

When you say that you're trying to connect to the internet with USB, do you mean that you're trying to connect your iPod to the internet so that you can surf the internet with a browser on your iPod, or that you're trying to connect your iPod to your computer so that you can sync it with iTunes and bring over songs, movies, apps, etc.?

There are two probably causes:
Your ISP is blocking the port used by Entourage to send mail and the ISP used by the other wireless networks is not.
OR
Your ISP doesn't like OS X's default MTU seting of 1500. If this were the case it should also affect any large file transfers you try to make from your Mac to the Internet. -

Try to use nslookup in command prompt to check whether can resolve domain name correctly. Also make sure you can ping the router's LAN IP from computer.
If not, you can try to use the following DNS servers from OpenDNS.com:

Firefox no longer connects to internet on my mac, and windows machines, after v18. I've tried several solutions from Mozilla support and nothing works. Firefox can't even connect to Mozilla for updates. Firefox just sits on the default search page and attempts to connect to websites by typing URLs, or by clicking on the links on the default search page don't work.
You could try the following:
* Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
* Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.

Everytime when i connect 3g internet with my laptop using USB (Windows 7) it creats new connection trailing network1, network2, network3.........
It does not recognise my old connection.
Same case with wifi connection as well.
Also after updating new IOS-5, whenever i make USB connection it does not display my name under my computer.
But before it use to display my name now it is coming as Apple I-phone.
Anyone who can help on this, how to get it resolved.

@ru..If the message that is displaying is "Network connection timed out", disable any Anti-Virus or Firewall software on the comptuer or check with the company that supports the product on how to modify it to allow iTunes to connect to the Internet.
