MacPro Host - G4 Client Ethernet connection
Hey -
Short of switching my ethernet cables (actually just thougth of that and not at the mac office) ---
I have a G4 connected via ethernet to my Pro. But the ethernet cable is hooked into Ethernet 2 port and the router is hooked into Ethernet 1. I can see all the drives as network drives on the MacPro, but I cannot seem to get ARD to see the G4 as it scans only ethernet 1.
Is there a way to tell it to scan ethernet 2 port? Simple? Did I miss something? Should I just switch my ports and then make sure my router doesn't freak out with the switch?
I believe I did everything correctly in making sure the client was set up to 'be probed'.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
CaptM
Oh -- when I scan now all I get is 4 or 5 169.xxx IP addresses plus my own macPro.
Thanks... I guess that's where I lost my way the first time. Not sure what the IP is, does Ethernet HAVE IP address?
Ok -- well, at least that's what I should be looking for.
I'll follow up when I get home.
Thanks.

Remote access VPN client gets connected fails on hosts in LAN
Hi,
VPN client gets connected fine, I have a inter VLAN routing happening on the switch in the LAN so all the LAN hosts have gateway IP on the switch, I have the defult route pointing to ASA inside interface on the switch, the switch I can reach after Remote Access VPN is connected how ever I cannot ping/connect to other hosts in the LAN and if I make the gateway point to the ASA then that host is accessible, any suggestions? I really want to have gateway to be the Switch as I have other networks reachable through the Switch (Intranet routing)Hi Mashal,
Thanks for your time,

We don't need route print on the PC for now as I can explain what is happening I can get complete access to the 192.168.2.0/24 (VLAN 1000) but for 192.9.200.0/24 (VLAN 4000) above from the switch I can only ping IP's on the switches/pair but cannot have any tcp connections, which explains the default route being pointed on the switch is on VLAN 1000, now my issue is How do I get access to VLAN 4000 as you can see these two are on different Interfaces/zones on the ASA and please note with default gateway pointing to ASA I will have access to both the VLAN's it is only when I move the gateway pointing to Switch I loose tcp connections to one VLAN depending on the default route on the being pointing to on the switch.
So we are left to do with how to on the switch with default route. -
PXE Boot a client to connect to a Remote Desktop Session Host/Terminal Server Farm via SCCM 2007
Hi all,
we've got a bunch of old desktops which are destined for disposal but i was wondering if we couldn't use them as disk-free clients to connect to our Remote Desktop farm. I did some digging and have managed to put together an iso which will boot
the machine into WinPE and then connect to our farm. However, since it's an iso i have to use either a cd or usb for this to work. (This is pretty much what i did: http://www.iammacgyver.com/2011/02/easy-rdp-60-from-winpe-30-simple-boot.html)
What i want to do is to advertise the boot.wim to the client via SCCM so that it boots via PXE and then picks up the WinPE image and connect to the RD farm. I've imported the boot.wim file into SCCM under Boot Images and created an empty Task Sequence
with the boot.wim as its Boot Image. I then advertised this Task Sequence to a collection which contains the old desktop clients. The machine PXE boots ok and loads up WinPE but rather than launch a remote desktop connection, it trundles through the normal
WinPE stages and once it's finished 'Preparing Network Connections' it simply ends and the client reboots.
Is what i'm trying actually possible?
Can anyone tell me why the ISO works yet pushing the boot.wim out as a Boot Image doesn't? I know the boot.wim file (which is the same one present in the ISO) is ok since the client boots into WinPE fine when PXE booted so why doesn't the remote
desktop session conenction launch? How is booting from the ISO different from booting from the PXE boot.wim file?
Slightly long winded problem so many thanks in advance to anyone who can pass some info my way!It doesn't work because importing it into ConfigMgr injects binaries and the task sequence engine along with the process to launch the engine thus suppressing whatever you've got configured.
Perhaps you could use a pre start command (pre-execution hook in 2007 parlance) to launch your RDP process though.

WLC 4402 Multiple clients can connect to AP but only one gets an IP
I have a 4402 which is connected to a 4506 Switch int Gig 3/1 via a trunk port. The Managment and AP-manger interfaces are on vlan 6
interface GigabitEthernet3/1
description Trunk Port to WLC
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 2-6
switchport mode trunk
end
I have a 1142N AP also connected to the switch and it pulls a DHCP IP Address and configs etc and registers to the WLC. It too is on Vlan 6 and it is connected to the 4506 on int gig 4/33 which is an access port.
interface GigabitEthernet4/33
description Access port to Cisco LAP 1142
switchport access vlan 6
switchport mode access
end
My router is my dhcp server;
ip dhcp pool wlanmantraffic
network 10.6.0.0 255.255.255.0
default-router 10.6.0.1
dns-server 66.109.38.250 10.7.0.8
option 43 hex f104.3130.2e36.2e30.2e33
interface FastEthernet0/1.6
description Vlan6
encapsulation dot1Q 6
ip address 10.6.0.1 255.255.255.0
no ip redirects
no ip unreachables
no ip proxy-arp
ip nat inside
ip virtual-reassembly
I am doing local authentication, so i have added users to the WLC
My problem is that the first client that connected was able to get an IP address and connect to anything internal and external.
I then connected another client on another laptop and that client could connect but not get an IP address, it just self assigned.
When i look at the clients i can see the MAC address of both Clients on the WLC, but doing a show mac address-table dynamic i only see the MAC of the client that works properly. The client that doesnt get an IP has no entry in the 4506 switch.
I am stumped, from what I understand, is that the 2nd clients traffic is being trunked to the WLC , hence it has the MAC address. But I dont know why its not getting a DHCP assigned IP address.
Thanks in advance for your help. Here is some of the WLC config,

T500 Ethernet Connection Not working, but wireless is working
Hi
In my laptop, when I try to connect to internet using the Ethernet card, it is not working.
My laptop has the following configuration.
T500; Windows Vista 64
Ethernet card: Intel(R) 82567LM Gigabit Network Connection
Following are what I observed.
1. From command prompt, when I executed the command ipconfig, it is not listing the ethernet adapter connection.
C:\Windows\system32>ipconfig /all

2. Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections : Under this, when I list all the connection, the Ethernet connection is showing it as Enable.
3. When I unplug the network cable, at Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections, I see the status as Cable Unplugged..

How can I fix this ethernet issue. Any help is deeply appreciated.

Thank you for your reply.
Yeah, it is listed under the Device Manager.
I see one potential error under the event viewer. Thank you for that pointer.
The IP address lease 192.168.0.11 for the Network Card with network address 00216A1A24B2 has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.0.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).
Any idea why this is coming???
I get that exact same error when I change my MAC address and my computer is trying to connect to my router.
This message is probably just the result of your computer not recognizing your Ethernet Adapter.
I have never had this problem and am just shooting in the dark, but I would say you either have a bad Ethernet card, or your Adapter is not configured correctly.
I keep wanting to go back to your adapter in the Device Manager.
Is the Device Status "This Device is working Properly"?
Under Power Management, is the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" unchecked?
Are you downloading the drivers from Lenovo's website?
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70199
Have your tried Uninstalling the adapter, and reboot.
Your system may automatically reinstall the adapter. If not, you can manually reinstall it.

Ethernet connectability completely frozen-out by frozen SES-mode; WTR54GS
On a reset i accidentilly hit the SES button, now on my ethernet connection, the "Secure Easy Setup" button is frozen white. i've browsed th web, found other people have encountered same problem.
i've spent probably 100 hours, trying many fixes, including your company's suggestions -- to no avail! (note: multiple reset attempts still won't fix this).
my PC and ethernet card work fine on other products, it's just that wtr54gs has now frozen me out by your proprietary SES-mode. i've tried, via the wireless set-up, assigning fixed ip ( e.g. : 192.168.16.100) to my ethernet + your suggsted 192.168.16.50 to re-flash firmware -- nothing works! can't even get a dhcp ip from wtr54gs,because the frozen SES-mode has my ethernet connectability completely frozen-out.
re-flash firmware won't go on wirelessly either, a "failure" message appears like "not suficient system resources" -- **bleep**! -- on my Windows task manager networking screen i see i'm sending megabits of
firmware data, but the wtr54gs only picks up about 10% of the sent amount -- seems the wtr54gs can't handle the speed my wireless adapter is sending it ( also connection is strong, i'm 4 feet away from it ). i don't know how to force data rate to go slower ( on ethernet card i've reduced rate + to half-duplex, but, of course that a no go, since the wtr completely has my ethernet connection frozen-out in the first place, my original concern!).
i bought a D-link DWL-G730AP travel router, hoping theirs would be better, but it's very shoddy, very poor reception and difficult interface. i'm returning that. i long for the days when my Linksys product used
to work -- Please Help Me Fix It !!!
i used to use wtr54gs as a client-mode, connected to my PC via the ethernet connection, and the wtr54gs incoming internet connection was set to "wireless" -- all woked great, until this freezing-out problem.
if the SES-mode is internally permanently freezing me out on ethernet connectability, it appears i'm going to have to get a replacement ( as, other people on the web, similarly-situated, have stated).
my original purchase was about $60, but i see Amazon is recently selling the wtr54gs for $180!! -- i'm NOT buying a replacement at that cost!! please, either help me fix my frozen wtr54gs, or, since i'm
covered by warranty, tell me the procedure to get a replacement / exchange.

Hi,
I have started experiencing a problem this past week (Aug 2012) that I see sometimes reported here. When I run iTunes 10.6.3.25 on a Win7 machine that is connected by ethernet to my router, the airport express speakers would regularly disappear. I can always connect to these airport express via airplay from my iPhone 4. In fact when the airplay speakers disappear from iTunes on the ethernet-connected machine, I can reliably make them reappear by turning on the Music app on the iPhone. But after a while the airplay speakers would disappear again. On a Win7 laptop connected via wifi to the network the same version of iTunes seems so far not to exhibit the same problem.
Has anyone discovered what the underlying problem is or found a solution?I ran into the specific problem in another thread. There are more than 100 connections from the apple TV's to iTunes. You can do a netstat -a (windows or Mac), and verify the problem. iTunes is smart enough to stop allowing more than 100 connections but stupid to allow the ATV to create so many connections.
Now for what you really want! Set all of your ATVs to wifi only. Even setting the iTunes host to wifi might help also. I think that wifi is more unreliable, and forces connections to drop, keeping the count under 100.
I also turned off ip v6. That could help you also. I originally had problems on a Mac mini, and built a windows 7 box to try to fix the problem. The wifi trick worked on both platforms. Several of us have bug reports into apple. I have a wired house also, and am very angry to NEED to use slow wifi to overcome this problem. The ATV gen 3 has been able to keep up with 1080p over wifi, so it doesn't hurt too much. What really hurts is spending over 40 hours troubleshooting this bug. -
Exchange 2013 - Prevent Outlook Clients From Connecting To A CAS Server In A Different AD Site
Hi all,
I could really do with your help!
We have 3 physical sites, A, B & C, with sites A & B having a really fast low latency links between them, so from an AD point of view they are 1 site. Site C has links to both sites A & B, but the link is a lot slower.
We have an exchange design with 3 servers (one located at each physical site) that will form a DAG spread over the 3 physical sites. Ideally we will separate the CAS and mailbox server roles out and have them controlled by a hardware load balancer,
however we can have both roles on the same server if required.
What we want, is to prevent is a situation where an outlook client in site C connects to a CAS server in site A/B with the mail being hosted on a mailbox server in site C therefore traversing the network twice to get its mail.
From doing the Microsoft training course, my understanding is that in Exchange 2013, the CAS server only proxy's the request on to the mailbox server and does not redirect the request to the CAS server in the site where the mailbox server resides.
I have seen information online stating that a single namespace is the way to go as long as your site links/network bandwidth is good, but nothing to help with our scenario.
Has anyone else come across this situation and how did you get round it?
Thanks in advance :)Hi Johnson,
Based on my knowledge, Outlook Client will connect to the CAS server which in local first.
Please check whether the CAS server that in site C is healthy.
If the CAS server in site C is healthy, please disable the CAS Load Balance for testing.

AirPort Extreme loses ethernet connection
I am running about 20 or so base stations in my school and every once in a while, a couple of the stations loose their ethernet connection. They are still broadcasting wirelessly, but they disconnect from the network. The stations are running fw5.6 and my clients are running 10.4.2 or WinXP SP2. The only way to fix the problem is to power cycle the base station. I also have the older graphite stations which work fine, which leads me to think that this is not a network issue.
Any suggestions?I also lose ethernet connection. Sometimes once a day, other times 10 times per day. The other day I was so frustrated about losing my connection that I just walked away from it, without cycling power. When I came back (about 30 minutes later) from my cooling-off period, I found that the connection was back. So, with my AirPort Extreme, cycling power is not the only solution. It's not an acceptable solution though.
I was wondering what you mean by your statement, "They are still broadcasting wirelessly, but they disconnect from the network." I'm relatively new to this stuff and this baffled me, which isn't hard to do. -
Not picking up ethernet connection
Hi,
I am using a WRT54GS. its and old one about 1 years old was working with my SBC Yahoo SpeedStream DSL modem well.
recently I switched to Cable. Now the CAT5 (rj45) that comes out from the cable modem works well with my HP n6120 office laptop picks up the Ethernet connection well and I am getting the wired connection with no problem.
however WRT54GS not picking up the ethernet. internet light is just blinking. as if its pooling but not finding any network. same thing happening if I try to setup it up as a HUB or access point.
Is there any setup I can change in the router? to make it work.
I dont understand how come the wired connection working with the laptop and not with WRT54GS. this is a good working model not too much used also.Yes I tried with the cable comes with the router and then with another one that is hand made. Wired but someone told me that the ISP is running a 24online client at their end. if true, it probably is tracking my MAC address. Even if that is true, I clone the mac address, that should hv been worked.
next why the internet light goes off and on at the router, as if its not finding any internet. where as if connected to the PC it just works good. could there be any other wireing issue. -
Is there a list of hosting companies Dreamweaver can connect to? Database wise
I need to know if Dreamweaver can connect to certain databases. I don't want to waste my money just to find out, so I came here. I need to know if there is so I can go with that hosting company instead.
Jean90p wrote:
Once I get everything sorted out on a 'local' level I'll then purchase some remote server space and transfer the files to it. Then if I need to update the database I'll just use the remote version of phpMyadmin which should come with the hosting package.
Yea that's what I meant what hosting companies can Dreamweaver connect to? I'm using wamp locally but I've tried to connect to go-daddy database and that was a bust so now I'm looking for other hosting providers that allow me to connect to their databases from Dreamweaver.....Or is there any reason to do that at all?
No reason to want to connect to a remote database from DW in my opinion. Like I said I do all the setting up locally then transfer files over to a remote host and connect using the database connection details supplied by the host. If the connection details from the host are correct then all you should need to do is replace your local connection details in the database connection file with the remote ones - everything should work like a dream - obviously sometimes it doesn't but that's because some web-hosts make you jump through hoops to set anything up, for instance BT in the UK are total crap in my opinion stay clear of their convoluted set up if youre in the UK - I'm sure others have had a great experience using BT - go with a small company - large companies couldn't give a shite about their clients. -
Ethernet connection and airport failure
I'm studying abroad in Madrid, Spain, and I'm having difficulty with my internet access. On campus, the IT director put in the airport location and password, and it won't log on. It says "failure to connect." Other Macs in the building are working fine, but mine. I noticed that when I open 'Internet Connect,' the status under Airport says "Computer to Computer." Also, at my residence, my ethernet connection is not working. I plugged in another Mac into my port, and it worked fine. I tried putting in the TCP/IP for Ethernet manually (IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, and DNS servers), without success. I always get a message reading "unable to find host." Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Luz, talk to the IT staff, the base stations that you are using need to "know" your PB's card address, in the airport utility, how many base stations can you see? Also make sure that in the airport setting, you have removed the "allow this computer to create networks" tick, this can cause havoc in some networks and get your machine booted off.
best wishes

Using Windows NT 4.0 client program connecting to oracle 8i linux server
Dear sir/madam,
Recently, I have successfully installed Oracle 8i in my red hat linux database server. I am disappointed because I can find client side Oracle Enterprise Manager in my linux server even I have installed client program in my linux database server.
Next, I install Oracle 8i client side program (windows NT/2000 version) in my Windows NT 4.0 server. I am still disappointed because I find Oracle Enterprise Manager console cannot work.
For Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Manager, I have key in default administrator sysman, password oem_temp, and connect to mamagement server hangng (my linux database server). An error message display 'VTK-1000 Unable to connect to the management server hangng. Please verify that you have entered the correct host name and the status of the Oracle Management Server.'.
What's wrong with both Oracle 8i Management Server in linux database server and windows nt 4.0 server. Is there any problem for Oracle Management server console to connect to red hat linux database server?[email protected] wrote:
I need to confirm that I will be able to connect an Oracle 11g R2 client (administrator install) to an Oracle 8i DB before i bother trying to setup such a scenario?Don't waste your time. It won't work. It simply results in an error.
I saw another thread that mentioned a patch level required for 8i to let the 10g client connect. Is there such a patch level needed for 11g clients as well? There is no such patch for 8i which allows 11g client to connect. -
Cisco 3750x no ethernet connection
Hi,
I seems to have a weird problem whereby clients are unable to get an ethernet connection (Port no LED lit/not connected) when using mac. Sometimes there is connection after multiple insert/disconnect using the same cable to the Mac client. This has also be tested with a direct connection between the client and switch (without going thru the backbone cabling). If I was to try using Windows client, there does not seems to have such issue.
Further observation; from the switch; if a shut and no shut was performed on the port connected to the client, it would cause the connection to be "UP". Not too sure if anyone may have seen similar issues of unable to get connection "UP"? The firmware on the switch is running 15.2(1)E2.
Any suggestion is appreciated. You've got a 3750X? Good. This means you can test the cable run using TDR.

Web service issues with two live Ethernet connections
Running OSX Leopard 10.5.3 on a Quad-core G5.
Configuring Web services, I am running into issues while having two simultaneous Ethernet connections active.
My first E-net connection is a LAN address; the second is a external WAN IP.
I've created one website under the "Web" service and made it active on all IP addresses (*).
Under this config, I can only connect to my site from inside of my LAN. External machines try to connect and simply time out.
I know that my DNS is configured correctly, because--and here's the crux--whenever I turn off my LAN connection under System Prefs -> Network, external clients can immediately hit the website without a hitch. It's only when both connections are active that external clients time out.
Any input appreciated. This sounds like a routing issue - the server is trying to route all replies over the internal network, not the external network.
Do you have a router/gateway address specified in System Preferences -> Network for the internal NIC? If so, remove it - you should only have one default router set and it should be on the interface that gets you to the outside world.
You can also try reordering the network interfaces in System Preferences -> Network. Use the little gear wheel in the lower left corner to 'Set service order' then drag the interfaces into the order you want them to be used.
