I wouldn't go as far as calling a nonexistent feature a bug,
but here's
my $0.05:
I suppose you open the webpage with something like:
gotoNetPage("
http://www.yada.com")
I'd pass a parameter on the URL indicating which CSS-file to
load as
main (and implicitly which as alternates), catch that
parameter with
whatever serverside language you have and use it well :)
so something like:
gotoNetPage("
http://www.yada.com/index.php?style=student")
Althoug probably possible, I personally would not get into
editing
cookies. Doing off-standard stuff with the internets and it's
plethora
of browsers would have me shivering.
Hope this helps,
Manno

  • Patch for Macromedia Director 6.0 Upgrade for Windows - DOES ANYBODY STILL HAVE IT?

Hello, I am a collector of 1990's multimedia who likes seeking out older, pre-Adobe versions of Director. I have the upgrade version of Director 6.0 for Windows, and it's unfortunately part of an early batch that comes with a corrupted copy of the Projec32.skl stub projector file, rendering 32-bit projectors made with the upgrade version of Director 6 for Windows unusable (only 16-bit projectors will work).
Macromedia released a patch on their old website to address this issue shortly after the release of Director 6 back in 1997, but I can't find it anywhere on the Internet these days. Does anyone still have this patch, and if so, can you share it with me? (FYI, the filename for the patch is "D6wpatch.exe") Or, alternatively, if any of you still have the full, non-upgrade version of Director 6 for Windows, can you share the Projec32.skl with me? (it can be found in Director's installation directory, normally "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Director 6")
Thanks if you can provide any help,
    Ryan
(EDIT 10/26/2012: addendum about alternative sharing method was added to the above text, since Director 6 and prior versions are getting harder and harder to find on eBay these days)
UPDATE 11/23/2012: I finally found the solution... after calling Adobe tech support to no avail (they searched, but didn't find it - they said that all the old Macromedia files got lost after they purchased Macromedia a few years back), I managed to solve the problem myself! I manually extracted the projector stub code from a working 32-bit Director 6 projector executable in a hex editor, and saved that code as a separate projec32.skl file. I replaced the corrupted projector stub, and I proceeded to make a 32-bit projector with a small test movie I made. And guess what - it worked! Thanks, everyone, for viewing this post. I hope that helps!

After countless hours of reading I finally discovered what the problem was. I did not read thoroughly through the support documentation which allows a person to update their IPOD video very easily simply follow the directions "and I mean the entire directions" within the following link. I would also strongly suggets following the area which state to d/l Quicktime separately from Itunes. This completely rveresed my problems, and now I have a great functioning IPOD once more.

  • Enhanced CD features/Macromedia Director Problems...

Ok, so I know this isn't an iDVD question, but it seems that the program is 'sort of' similar (you know, creative, arty, techy, etc). So don't mad because it's a little off topic
My band is completing post-production on our EP and we'd like it to be enhanced (some quicktime videos, pictures, etc--the standard enhancements). My drummer is a multimedia director by trade, so he has created a windows version (.exe) and it's incredible. Our problem lies in creating a version that works on a mac (he's not very mac-smart). He's currently using Macromedia Director to create a projector file, but when it's exported, it doesn't run (in fact, all the coding appears in an excel file).
My question boils down to this: are we using the proper program to achieve the desired result? Do you have any suggestions, warnings, etc that would help us? Any guidance you could offer would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!
    ~Kevin

hi, I discovered this additional anomaly.
This week I downloaded the latest updates for Windows 7 64bit.
I restarted the PC. I started the program and it worked.
There is one problem though: was only the laptop's screen (1920x1200) but my workstation is not this one.
    I have a Matrox TripleHead2Go DP Edition with 2 hp ZR24x screens (24 ") for a final resolution of 3840x1200.
The monitor (and cover) of the laptop is closed.
The program has the same problems I describe above images to which they refer.
The same configuration is also when I use Mac Lion, however, the program works.
so in summary with MacBook Pro I installed the trial program :
    Mac Lion:
only notebook screen 17"  is ok
with matrox with 2 screens 24" more its notebook screen 17" is ok.
    Window 7 64 bit:
only notebook screen 17" is ok.
with matrox with only 2 screens 24" the program not work correctly, is KO.... but i work with this!!!
(only 2 screens 24" because  no configuration otherwise support 1920x1200 each screen)

  • Apple Motion vs Adobe After Effects vs Macromedia Director

    Greetings,
    1. Is Motion like Adobe After Effects and/or Macromedia Director?
    2. What are the similarities and differences between Motion and Adobe After Effects?
    3. What are the similarities and differences between Motion and Macromedia Director?
    Thanks for the comments!
    G5 1.8 GHz Dual   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I have noticed LOTS of people are thinking about, Motion vs After Effects. I personally think it is Apple's intention to eventually exceed AE's abilities. Right now however, I find that 'round trip' thang between FCP and Motion awfully nice, no need for a go-between piece of software like Automatic Duck.
Anyway, in sorting thru my own AE vs Motion quandry I stumbled upon the following overview, which proved insightful - While it's now a bit dated, I found it helpful - Do consider, Motion does some compositing now and I think we'll see it do a lot more in future releases.
Perhaps it may also give you some more to think about - Hope it's helpful either way.

  • Macromedia Director

Can a file created in Macromedia Director 8.5 be upgraded to Macromedia Director 11.5?

Yes, though Director 8.5 used Havok physics, and 11.5 uses Ageia Physx. So, if you have physics in your 3D you would need to rework that.
    You cna either type:
    go movie ""
in the message window and choose the movie you want, or you can directly open the file, and you'll be given options for updating and backing up the file.

Alas, the OS9 mac that I used to create it -- the HD has fried, taking my old version of Director with it, so I'm not able to do an incremental upgrade. I've tried, Lord, how I've tried...
Is there anyone out there that has successfully converted OLD Director files, and can share their solutions?
Or, even, attempt to convert these files for me?

i think you need Director 8.5, or MX?  8.5 is what i used on my old mac and
those dcr files still manage to work these days (sometimes anyway).  But
now somebody helped me out and converted them to Director 12 for me.
From what i've heard you need to use a few versions of Director to convert
your files up in stages.  Somebody here might have an older version and be
able to help.  Sadly my CD binder that had my old 8.5 for the mac was
stolen.  i don't even have a mac anymore.
Loved OS 9 btw, was the best ever
Depending on your project, you might have an easier time copy and pasting
elements from it into your new Director file, and recreating it in the
newer version.  Sorry if this is pretty unhelpful, just thinking out loud.
    Good luck.

  • Adobe (macromedia) Director

I don't know if the apple people read these posts but here goes. There is a product out there so many users still use called Director. There is nothing in this world like it and Apple has no product that will do what it will do. As for making educational applications easily and sending it to a CD to play on a computer at a school is so needed. Not every classroom has access to the internet.. believe it or not. This product would be great for the ipad too... an instant screen to pull out with content that was made for the kids by the teacher (I am talking about young children). Director projectors run on shockwave but I have been reading threads that Apple could make it possible to allow this to happen. I know that the ipad is mainly to buy apps etc to use on the thing but that is just not good enough for educational purposes. Flash is not an option with me. And all of Adobe other (real adobe products) cost alot of money to do what Director can do in the education realm (making quizzes and interactive stuff) I don't even program and use the behaviors only with a little on line help and can make something with my classes own information (pictures, video and right and wrong feed back). Macromedia was at the beginning a Mac only product. It is a great program and Adobe bought it several years ago is just letting it die a slow death because they are all for flash. I wish that Apple would see the need to support a program that educators could use in our classrooms that is not an app and not showing a video from utube. I am a pre-school traveling teacher and I want to travel around with the ipad.. but for now.. it is just not able to do what I can do in rural areas without access to internet and I do not have the money to but the other service. Thanks for listening.

    Hi there,
These are user-to-user discussion forums that are meant to be of help to those with technical problems having to do with software or hardware. When you have a problem, this is a great place to post to see if others who are more experienced in the field can help. Apple does not read most of these threads, as they are mainly here for other users (such as yourself) to comment on.
If you want to provide feedback to Apple on one of its products you might find this link useful:

If you are wanting Apple to consider creating a similar product to the one you suggested, click here:

As for Adobe, have you checked out their education discounts? I recently purchased After Effects with an $800 educational discount that I got simply from showing some proof of where I teach.
