Macromedia Dreamweaver MX (or Dreamweaver 6) Table Alignment

Hello Again!
I am having trouble aligning the data in a table from column to column. I just want everything to match up nice and eve (symetrically) and I cant seem to find the option that lets me do so.
PLease help!!
Also when answering please uderstand that I am new to all of this so be sure to use laymen's terms.

If you are a beginner than I would definitely step back and learn some cascading style sheets.

New to Dreamweaver and need help with menu alignment in IE

I'm in the same boat that why I asked. I ran it through browsershots too and everything looked fine:

Even went back to IE 6. Which is why I asked for a screenshot. If you can go back to the person who told you about the design flaw ask them for a screenshot. Otherwise I can't really do much more than shoot in the dark.

A mild question about table alignment

I use a specific style for table anchor points, imaginatively called :anchor and defined as left justified. Sometimes I import tabbed text for a fairly narrow table, and convert it using a table style defined as left justified.
How come the results (in this special case of a narrow table) float airily to the centre of the page, ignoring the "left" setting for both the table and its anchor? What's the trick for forcing a narrow table to line up with the lefthand text margin, apart from widening columns until it decides to jump?

This may or may not relate to your case...
Does your text flow allow for side heads? If so, then if your table anchor is in a paragraph that is in the text column (that is, NOT in the side head), then the table will also be in the text column IF it is narrower than the text column. Such a table aligned left aligns at the left side of the TEXT column, NOT the left side of the text FRAME. If you make the table wider than the text column, it will align to the left side of the text frame.
If you want a narrow table to align with the left side of the text frame, then put its anchoring paragraph in the side head.

A few years ago i used Dreamweaver mx for creating websites.
In the meantime i´ve graduated ad software developer and
now´s the time for a hobby.
So whats the difference between dreamweaver mx and
dreamweaver cs.??
I´ll be using php, asp, jsp, mysql.

The real questions are a) does valid code matter to you, b)
will you be
using CSS, and c) do you work mostly in Design view?
If the answer to any of those is "YES", then you should
upgrade.

Trouble controlling structured table alignment

I can control my linked unstructured tables via table format alignment in FM...
However, when linking structured tables, my tables are preceded by
<?rh-align_start align="right" ?>
Any thoughts?

You're right...the formatting in a structured doc is generally handled with an EDD.
However, to map into RH, you need to have paragraph tags, which means the EDD calls out the tag used on the content, and then that tag is mapped to the CSS in RH. (Still with me???)
<rant>RH need to be able to map to elements and not just paragraph styles. RH needs to be an XML editor. RH needs a better DITA solution</rant>
UPDATE: It seems the application of the FrameMaker template in the conversion forces the <?rh> formatting. If I remove the conversion template, then the formatting from the FM document applies. Unfortunately, when applying the FramaMaker template, I am unable to control the table alignment from the template file.
It appears for now that I'll have to avoid applying the FrameMaker template with my linking process.

hi, i am trying to find out what the difference between
dreamweaver 8 and dreamweaver mx 2004 if any, and which is the
better programme. i know html and am looking for an all purpose
proffessional package. please help because i would like to purchase
one of the packages asap but don't want to get the wrong
one.

DW8 is the latest version, so that would be the logical
choice :-)

Tagchen zusammen!
Ich bin schwer begeistert von diesem Dreamweaver CC Programm und teste 30 Tage lang kostenlos um mich in das Programm einzuarbeiten. Ziel ist die Programmierung von Internetseiten. Ich weiß, programmieren ist hier vielleicht der falsche Ausdruck. Nun überlege ich, welche weiteren Trainingsbücher/CD´s etc ich mir zulegen möchte. Ziel soll auch sein, an einer Schule später eine AG einzurichten.
Nun gibts für Lehrer ja eine günstigere Version z.B. bei Amazon.
Was genau ist denn der Unterschied zwischen Dreamweaver CC und Dreamweaver CS 6?
Will hier nicht nachher auf unmengen Material sitzen und es hilft mir überhaupt nicht.
Wäre klasse, wenn mir jemand die Frage beantworten könnte...

so so ein böser Lehrer! Fishing for compliments, nicht wahr? Aber jetzt 'ran an den Speck! Und gleich Mal ein "Pardon" sollte ich ein Zuwenig Deiner Kenntnisse annehmen.
Immerhin hat Adobe noch einige Vorlagen ("templates" für Deine künftigen Recherchen) im DW behalten, mit denen Du schon einige DW-Gesetzmäßigkeiten durchschauen wirst. Hast Du sie schon gefunden?
Weil Du Dich mit css und html/php auseinandersetzen musst bist Du hier im Forum und wie gesagt auch dort http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver?view=discussions immer bestens aufgehoben.
Von Büchern halte ich persönlich nicht so viel, aber Du wirst sicherlich diverse "Umdrucke" machen müssen. Deshalb hier mein erster Tipp http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_website_pt1.html. Hier und auf den Folgeseiten hat David Powers einen umfangreiches Kompendium abgeliefert.

Change table alignment for Default4 template

Can I change the table alignment from center to left for the default4 report template. I can not find anything the .css files that effect the alignment.

If you want to have complete control over a template you should create your own custom template based off of the default templates.
Just create a very simple table 'select * from emp' and then grab the resulting table from the page source. You should use firefox for this as IE changes the html source when it's viewed or saved.
Then create a template from the resulting code. Then you have complete control.
Given some time we will create an aplication export for HTML DB Studio that will have the default templates stored in the regular template.

Auto table alignment?

I understand there is relative table alignment, however, how can I auto arrange multi tables on one page so the page looks a little professional?
Table 1 Table 2 Table 3
Table 4 Table 5
I want for table 1 to always be upper left
Tables 2 and 3 to always be to the right of table 1, however, each table should be aligned evenly across the page,
Tables 4 and 5 to always be to the right of table 1 also, however, each table should be aligned evenly across the page,
Tables 4 and 5 have larger col widths, but I still want to be able to center all 5 tables evenly across the page..
Also, how can I hacve tables 4 and 5 always be X spaces below either Table 2 or 3, whichever is the table with the greater number of rows

If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds like you have table/block 1 and 2 that can be different heights (# of records) and so they are uneven? And then this can change based on the data?
You may have to create a section for table 2 and 3 and then have table 4 and 5 be positioned relatively to that section, and not to the blocks, so that the size of the tables/blocks 2 and 3 don't affect the position of 4 and 5.

Seeking Table alignment advice, Dreamweaver CS3

Being extremely new to Dreamweaver, I am having trouble resolving an alignment dilemma and hope someone can help.
I am working on a page wherein I have placed a table with one row and two columns. In the lefthand column I have the title graphic for the page, and in the righthand column have added a "table within a table" where I plan to place a number of images to be viewed by scrolling down the page.
Would like the title graphic in left-hand column to stay aligned to the top of the page, but each time I add more images to the right-hand column, my title graphic in left-hand column automatically moves down. I would like to keep it static at the top of the page. (hopefully I am being clear enough explaining this).

There are two ways to close (some types of) tags.
Meta tags in your head for example <meta name="description" content="whatever" /> is a self closing tag.
Images: <img src="picture.gif" alt="picture" width="360px" height="240px" /> is a self closing tag

</tr>
is an example of a manually closed tag set <tr> </tr> and <td> </td>
If your tag has "/>" at the end of it it doesn't need "</tag>" afterward.
Headings, paragraphs, and table cells usually aren't self closing.
When you get your page online, run ti through XHTML validation at http://validator.w3.org/ and you'll see if it is valid.
Meantime, you can run Commands>Clean up XHTML from your toolbar and it will remove redundant tags, then give you a report of what if cleaned up.

Dreamweaver MX 2004 error with tables in Windows 7

I did a full install of MX 2004 on my Windows 7 PC however everytime I go to add a new table, MX gives me an error message and it won't allow me to add the new table or do anything for that matter. I had to re-install DW 4 to design my sites in the meantime.
Any suggestions?

Dreamweaver CS6 crashes when editing tables

When I'm editing a table in the design view of Dreamweaver CS6, it stops responding and crashes. I have tried restarting my computer, restarting Dreamweaver (obviously) and repeating the same process, but it crashes in the exact same place. CS5.5 never did anything like this, in fact I have only ever experienced one crash and that was with InDesign CS5 a long time ago. It can't be my computer, it's well above required spec for CS6. What do you reckon is causing this? -_-
I will carry on editing bits of the table in the code view for now, but it's just that annoying feeling about compensating for something new that doesn't work properly. Any tips would be appreciated.

I've been working with data tables in CS6 recently, and have not encountered any problems, so this is not a known bug.
Often when things go wrong with Dreamweaver, it can be related to a corrupt cache file. Try the instructions for deleting a corrupt cache.
If that doesn't help, file a bug report through the form at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform. Try to describe the situation in detail, giving steps to reproduce the problem.

From Dreamweaver 8 to CS5 - Layout Tables to...?

I have been looking on the web for so long and I'm very frustrated now. I can't seem to find out what to use instead of layout tables that there was in DreamWeaver 8.
In DW8 I could draw layout tables on layout tables and I could draw them anywhere.

You use best practice methods and CSS.
Of what I found out it's AP Divs.
Don't even think of going this route. AP containers used for page layout will be a total catastrophe for you. Absolute positioning is a specialty tool, not a general purpose layout device.

Upgrading from DW8 is a good idea, yes. The web has changed since 2005, and so has DW.
