  • Can't update or uninstall Macromedia Flash player!

    Hi folks!
I've got a problem concerning the automatically installed Flash player. I am using a Qosmio G20.
While installing a new program (Lexware Financial Office) this program tried to update the Macromedia Flash player to the newest version. But the deinstallation of the old player was interrupted and the following message was displayed:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'install_flash_player_7.msi' in the box below.
    Use source:
    C:\Sysprep\
Closing this window does end the whole installation process of this new program.
After that I opened the list of installed programs to uninstall Flash manually, but with the same result.
Then I searched the internet for this install_flash_player_7.msi. I found the file but I still can't remove or update the Flash Player.
As a last chance I backed up all my data and used the recovery DVD to reinstall the whole system. Without installing any additional application, I had a look at the list of installed programs and guess what? The Flash Player has already been installed, so it is part of the recovery DVD.
But why can't it be uninstalled? I really need to get rid of the old player to be able to install Lexware Financial Office...
Thank you for your help in advance!
    Yvonne

    Thanks Eldorado,
but I think I explained it not exactly enough: I know that the old Flash installation is looking for a file that seems to be on antoher pc / server / disc or what ever, but the problem is, that I did not install the Flash Player that I would like to remove, respectively upadte to the newest version.
It is part of the Toshiba Recovery DVD. That means, after killing the HD and setting up the system completely new with the Toshiba Recovery DVD, this little tricky Flash Player is already installed.
It seems to be that there is a wrong link or setup on this DVD. But if that is the case, I can not be the only one with this problem, or?
And is there any way to remove this thing manually?
    Again, thanks in advance.

  • Cant uninstall Macromedia Flash Player 6

My system is unable to uninstall and upgrade from Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 r21. I have tried the Flash Player uninstall and the Flash Player 6 uninstall. I have manually deleted the Flash.ocx files wherever they occur.
The Adobe Website acknowledges the latest Flash Player installed on my system, but when right click on a flash file I still only get the oprion of open with: Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 r21.
Ther are files which prompt me to upgrade to the latest Flash Player, which I have done on many occasions. Remove programs does not even list the Macromedia Flash Player 6.
I have even tried to upgrade to the later versions of versions Macromedia Flash Player 6, without success. I simply cannot get rid of Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 r21
I have Windows XP home SP2
    Can anybody help?

"The Adobe Website acknowledges the latest Flash Player installed on my system, but when right click on a flash file I still only get the oprion of open with: Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 r21."
Flash is designed to play SWF content inside a browser. It's a browser plugin.  It's not designed to open local SWF on your system as an installed application.  So when you update to Flash player 10, you're updating your Flash Player ActiveX control (for IE windows) or the Flash Player plugin (for Firefox and all other OS/browsers).
So, when you point your browser to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome and it says you have Flash Player 10 then you have the most recent version.  If you need to open a local SWF launch your browser and use file:open
Now, if you really want to try to get the older player off your machine I'd use the command line uninstall in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402435.html
(but keep in mind that should uninstall ALL Flash Player files from your machine, so you'd have to resinstall FP10 afterwards).

  • "Macromedia Flash Player"; vs. "Flash Player?"

    My new camera says
I need to download "Macromedia Flash Player": is that the same as "Flash Player?
I tried to download the new Flash Player just in case and kept getting an error.  During the download attempts it said I already had it (flash player) and asked if I wanted to rerun it.  That's what failed repeatedly.  It keep telling me I had to close "conflicting" Yahoo Messenger and Internet Explorer before it could continue.  How do I close something that isn't running?  I am "multiply" confused.  Can you advise?

Hopefully everything will work now, but I'm still confused.  I didn't get a chance to follow your instructions because in the process of trying to figure out how to close internet explorer and yahoo messenger without shutting down the install page; I succeded and then Incredimail popped up on the screen to "complete" the install it had been trying to do since yesterday.  As soon as  I managed to close those programs, it was all automatic.  I restarted AGAIN, just to make sure.  I went to the link you sent and it says I have:
    You have version 10,1,53,64 installed
However, when I open program "add/delete" on my computer; as before, it lists the Flash Player but there aren't any MB listed like all the other programs have.  I know it's working because Incredimail came back on.  Of course,  initially I tried loading the new player because my photo program claimed it couldn't run without it.  Why would they say that if I already had it because it appears that I did until I started messing with things.  Somehow it then went away.  I'll try my photo  program again tomorrow if I can find time.  I have 2 doctor appointments.
Thanks so much for all your help.  I hope you don't mind if I "keep you", at least until I make sure the photo program is happy with the Flash Player.  Thanks and good night

  • How do I delete home directory /Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash\Player ?

    How do I delete<home directory>/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash\Player?

Note that it'll be created over every time you load a Flash object in a Web browser (at least if it has Flash enabled).
The only way to consistently get rid of all its content would be to create an AppleScript, or use Automator to create a workflow that would empty this folder when you close the browser.

  • How to uninstall Macromedia Flash Player 8

I don't remember when I installed this hideous software! And it doesn't exist in the Applications Folder and cannot be found with Spotlight (that I find useless BTW).
Unfortunately this "Macromedia Flash Player 8" is set as default for all .flv videos. If I try to play a video by double clicking on it, the "Macromedia Flash Player 8" icon shows on the Deck but doesn't play a thing. The only to play a video is to choose another application from the right click menu every time I want to play a clip!
I tried Adobe's website but failed to find a solution for Mac users!
I'd be grateful if someone can:
    1) help me remove this application for good.
    2) help me set default applications and preset them with certain file extensions because if I choose another application and ask to ALWAYS OPEN WITH, still it didn't work in this case!

Thank you all for your contribution.
I have no clue how or when I mistakenly installed this Flash 8. Anyway, all the above I have tried but of no use.
My last resort -which thank God worked for me- was to uninstall all Adobe software to avoid confusion. I use AppDelete that helped clear the remaining leftovers
Then I used Spotlight as advised above, but at first it didn't help because the application couldn't be found in any search as if it is unlisted... until I used the Spotlight to search for old applications by date where I found the icon f in a blue circle representing the Flash 8. I deleted it and that was the end of it.
I reinstalled all Adobe applications back... and all is well.
Thanks to all who contributed to this thread.

  • Downloading from a Macromedia Flash Player Video

Is it possible to download a video message sent through
Sightspeed, that is in a Macromedia Flash Player format? I've tried
to right click it and all I get is Macromedia Flash Player
    Settings.

    oldmovieguy:
See if you can use Image Capture (located in the Application folder) to upload the video file to the desktop before importing into iPhoto.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Remove NPSWF32.DLL from old version of Macromedia Flash Player

A security check of my system has revealed the insecure file
npswf32.dll (relating to Macromedia Flash Player 7.0.19.0) sitting
    in both C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Bridge\browser\plugins\ and
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Help
    Center\Browser\plugins\NPSWF32.dll.
I have run Adobe's flash uninstaller, and downloaded and
installed the latest version of the player (presumably 9.0.28.0),
but these dlls are still present.
Does anyone have any idea how I can update them?
    Thanks.

  • Flash Player 9 is installed but I get a message "Macromedia Flash player required"?

I have installed the last 9th version of Adobe Flash Player.
Few weeks ago I had no problems with my browser when visiting
websites with Flash content and it was the same 9th version of
    Flash.
But now, when visiting some websites I get a message
"Macromedia Flash Player required" (but not Adobe Flash Player).
I've reset all settings in "Internet Options" dialog. I've updated
the last version of Flash Player. I have no problems when visiting
websites with Flash content with Opera, Mozilla Firefox and
Netscape Navigator. The only problem is with Internet explorer. And
what's strange? When I visit, for instance, www.lamborghini.it or
www.flash-game.net, there are no problems, but when I visit
www.dodge.be or I want to read some Course material in
    http://cisco.netacad.net I get
    that message.
I don't think that the problem is that Dodge or Cisco use
files of old version of Flash. Because, as I've already said, I had
the same version before, installed on my PC, and I had no problems.

Probably you get that message because the flash plugin
checker they implemented is checking for a specific version and not
    higher then x.

  • How to uninstall Macromedia Flash Player version 7

    Hi everyone!
Just bought a Palm Treo 500 but I can't load the CD that comes with it. The error says that I have an outdated macromedia flash player.
I've already installed hte latest version of adobe flash player but I can't seem to rid the old version (version 7) on my system. Add/remove program can't find any uninstaller on my system.
Can anyone help me on this?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

try uninstalling with a program called your uninstaller 2006, it's an alternative to classis add/remove windows have. i use it my self, and i'm very satisfied with it :)
here's the link for it on download.com: http://www.download.com/3000-2096_4-10735046.html
you can see all the installs that are on your system, and that is more than your windows add/remove window shows.

  • Uninstall macromedia flash player

ow do i uninstall macromedia flash player 5.0 and 7.0? i've
installed 9.0 and i downloaded the adobe flash player uninstall
plug-in but it does not seem to do anything; these old programs are
a security risk and i'd like to get rid of them.

All browsers were closed, no messengers open, no processes running that utilize the active x, yet the files under C:\windows\system32\flash\ were still there.  The detail box said remove on reboot.
The main problem was the registry was corrupt.  I was not able to roll back the registry to a previous restore point due to Norton being installed.  It failed no matter what was tried.  I gave up for a few hours until it dawned on me that I had another boot disk that I could boot from to roll the registry back to before the installation of Macromedia Flash 8.  I tried it and it worked, I am just spending some time updating windows and some other apps and it's done.
Thank you very much for all your help and great ideas.  I don't think I ever paid that much attention to what active x did in the machine but it's been quite a learning experience.
