Macromedia Flash Problem
When using Safari or FireFox, and viewing webpages with Flash content, my black macbook's cpu seems to get really high and then the fan gets loud to about 6000rpm. Is this normal? Is flash not Intel mac ready? I've downloaded every software update etc and i've only had my macbook for about a month.
seems like i don't need to update since intel flash is already built in the software for these macbooks.
still doesn't answer the question why my fans speed up so high when viewing flash. 5000-6000rpm when viewing flash doesn't seem normal to me

Problem with Macromedia Flash 8 Video Encoder
I have got the trial version of Macromedia Flash 8
(professional). I have no problem running the Macromedia Flash but
when I tried to run the Macromedia Flash 8 Vedio Encoder for the
First time, as it was trying to install the Encoder it gives me an
error as it cannot locate an installation file.
This is the message I am getting in the pop-up message as the
installation stops:
The feature that you are trying to use is on the network
resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an
alternate to a folder containing the installation package
‘Macromedia Flash 8 Video Encoder.msi’ in the box
below.

Can someone tell what the problem is and how I can get it
fixed? Thank you very much for your time.

common problem, happens with perfectly set up application,
regardless DEMO or
off the CD.
I and up getting ZIP of the encoder from a friend because
multiple unistall, reinstall
did not help.
Happen second time on my laptop, I got fed up and try to fix
it, can't reproduce the steps
but basically I remove QT player and Flash 8. Reinstall QT
first, than Follow by flash 8.
Tried that 4 or 5 times and eventually it start to work.
You can always use it from the program, it works within flash
File - import - import video
than pick the video and go to Progress Download From the
server.
Flash will generated the FLV automatically.

Can't update or uninstall Macromedia Flash player!
Hi folks!
I've got a problem concerning the automatically installed Flash player. I am using a Qosmio G20.
While installing a new program (Lexware Financial Office) this program tried to update the Macromedia Flash player to the newest version. But the deinstallation of the old player was interrupted and the following message was displayed:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'install_flash_player_7.msi' in the box below.
Use source:
C:\Sysprep\
Closing this window does end the whole installation process of this new program.
After that I opened the list of installed programs to uninstall Flash manually, but with the same result.
Then I searched the internet for this install_flash_player_7.msi. I found the file but I still can't remove or update the Flash Player.
As a last chance I backed up all my data and used the recovery DVD to reinstall the whole system. Without installing any additional application, I had a look at the list of installed programs and guess what? The Flash Player has already been installed, so it is part of the recovery DVD.
But why can't it be uninstalled? I really need to get rid of the old player to be able to install Lexware Financial Office...
Thank you for your help in advance!
YvonneThanks Eldorado,
but I think I explained it not exactly enough: I know that the old Flash installation is looking for a file that seems to be on antoher pc / server / disc or what ever, but the problem is, that I did not install the Flash Player that I would like to remove, respectively upadte to the newest version.
It is part of the Toshiba Recovery DVD. That means, after killing the HD and setting up the system completely new with the Toshiba Recovery DVD, this little tricky Flash Player is already installed.
It seems to be that there is a wrong link or setup on this DVD. But if that is the case, I can not be the only one with this problem, or?
And is there any way to remove this thing manually?
Again, thanks in advance.

Adobe Premiere Pro 2 and Macromedia Flash MX 2004
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and have recently installed Macromedia Flash MX 2004.
Now when I go to export to Flash I don't get the Adobe Premiere's Flash Export dialog box when I press "Options" from the Export Settings. I get the Flash MX Professional 2004 "Flash Video (FLV) Exporter." It doesn't allow me to change any of the parameters.
I then un-installed Macromedia Flash MX 2004 but still get the same "Flash Video (FLV) Exporter."
Any ideas on how to get the Premiere exporter back?Well there is no answer to my question, but I did finally get the Adobe Media Encoder dialog box to come back again.
After uninstalling Premiere and QuickTime, then shutting down the computer, rebooting and logging on to the Admin account, shutting down again, rebooting again, logging in to the Admin account again ...
I then went in to the registry and removed all the Entries that had either of these in it:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\DVA\COM
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\DVA\FLASH
and these as well
C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTComponents\FLV.qtx
C?\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTComponents\FLV.qtx
Rebooted the computer, logged back in to Admin.
I then re-installed QuickTime, and rebooted.
I then installed Premiere and the Adobe Media Encoder Flash dialog now shows up.
I'd be careful messy with the registry if you are trying to fix this type of problem. Try uninstalling quicktime and premiere and do the above shutdown, reboot sequence a number of times before doing anything to the registry.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that Flash Website I've working on... -
Hello, Folks, I am having problems with any webpage that uses
"flash" animation. (Please be kind- I know mechanics and hands-on
things, but have a hard time with computers!) I have read some of
the threads here that deal with a similar topic, but don't
understand a lot of what I read. You guys are WAY above my head.
I am running Windows XP and IE 6. I recently ran the
Microsoft Windows updates (on April 02, I think, so I don't know if
it included the troublesome Active-X change or not). Now it seems
that some of the video/ picture features just aren't working right.
If I hold the cursor arrow over the place where the animation
should be, I get a message that says "click to activate or use this
control", but clicking does nothing. Right-clicking, then selecting
"settings" brings up a control panel for Macromedia Flash Player 8.
I selected "Allow" and "remember", but no change. I tried updating
the Macromedia, but it didn't help; completely wiping out the
program and reinstalling, as suggested by Macromedia, didn't work
either.
I have turned off pop-up blockers, emptied temporary and
cookie files, etc. to no avail. The animated pages WORK when logged
in under my wife's name. (!?) The Macromedia page works and runs
under her name, and shows that the program is installed, which it
will not do under my user name. I have disabled the Microsoft IE
pop-up blocker, and a "Popup Manager" program on my username, and
it still won't work. All of these are running on hers, too (and are
not disabled). Any ideas where to start? What would be different
from one username to another that would cause this?
Okay, some more information. The yellow pop-up bar ("Pop-up
blocked") under the toolbar never appears, so I never have a chance
to click on it to allow the information.
I tried loading Mozilla Firefox, and loaded the appropriate
Mcromedia version for it, and Mozilla does the exact same thing-
just blank boxes where the animation should be. The animated pages
still work, on IE and Firefox, on my wife's sign-in pages.
I am running AVG antivirus, Ad-Aware SE Personal, CCleaner,
Spysweeper, Spybot Search and Destroy, PopupManager, and
Spywareblaster. I have disabled these as much as I know how, but
nothing changes.
Thinking more on this, a month or so back Trend Micro online
virus scan found an infection by a virus named Anyman or something
to that effect. It recommended removing a file, which I believe was
a .dll file, but I am not sure of specifics. Normally I keep good
documentation of such things, but the paper I wrote this down on
has disappeared. Is there a file linked to animation that would be
found in each individual user's section of XP, that possibly could
have been deleted only from mine? Any good way to find it?
I truly appreciate your consideration. Thanks again,
WoodtrollI think the solution is a matter of directory permissions.
Make sure your login/user has the same permissions as your
wife's login/user. It might just be a matter of changing your
account type to administrator in the User Accounts control panel.
You should especially check that you have permissions to:
Windows C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application
Data\Macromedia\Flash Player
This is where flash stores it's cookies and Flash could be
having trouble changing them due to lack of permissions under your
login so it can't make any changes to your Flash Player settings.
I had the same problem when logging in to the network at
work.
If I logged in to the PC via the network server Flash would
display the symptoms you're describing. Different user logins to
the server would not work either but if I logged in to the PC
locally, Flash worked fine. I think this is because when logging in
via the network server, Flash tries to store the cookies on the
server and it can't. I'm going to try to get the network manager to
allow Flash access to this directory and hopefully that will fix
the problem.
Good luck to you, I spent a lot of hours finally figuring
this out.

Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004 not running on Intel iMac
SIGH. This is added to the enormous list of problems I've had with my new Intel iMac.
I'm a pro user and am confused as to why Dreamweaver MX will run but I can't get Flash MX 2004 Professional to run. It starts up, loads fonts and what not, shows a blank timeline for the new document as it should and as soon as the GUI for Flash comes up ka-boom it crashes.
Then I get the general "unexpectedly quit" notification.
Anyone else having this problem? Is Rosetta a synonym for Lucifer?

video issues on this site and haven't seen this – I might
have missed a few, but most Flash users are on Windows so I think
it would be common if it were something wrong with Flash in
general.
Then again, what do I know? Because the more I'm thinking
about it the more I think I might have had this problem. But I
really can't remember. And sorry to say the solution was to not use
the import function to edit my videos.
You also might want to just see if it is the format of the
file you are importing. Perhaps a different source will work
better? I'm just grasping at straws here.
If you have many of these to do and a budget I suggest
getting a third party tool like Squeeze. Otherwise if you have some
third party editor you might want to use that.

PDF opening in a macromedia flash application
Hello,
Im not a mac user, but we use mac in our company.
Im a webdesigner, working on windows XP, using macromedia flash (in this case Flash MX).
My problem is, we build applications on dvd and cd's and we are trying to make them usable on macOS, besides Linux and windows.
Things were working fine, till MacOS 10...
The problem is, that in some applications we use pdf files that are on the cd's or dvd's, that are not opening anymore in those OS version's 10..., we use a command in flash (actionScript) that is: getURL (....path.pdf).
It worked really good in the ealier OS's from Mac, now when we click on the link, it open Safari, with the default page it uses.
Anyone has any idea about why it happens?
Im sorry my english, not my native language, and thank you very much in advance for your time.
HugoHello again,
I've tried install FireFox on the Mac, and PDF Browser viewer plugin, and selected FireFox to open by default the pdf's files, it happen's the same, it opens FireFox with his default page, no pdf from the cd...
Im affraid that the cd's and DVD's with Flash applications with Pdf's files will not be able to open on Mac's with OS 10....
The application works really good on Linux and Windows platforms.

Thank you.
This is a bug in Extension Manager where from time to time
one of the XML files that Dreamweaver uses gets corrupted in some
fashion and Extension manager can't edit it any longer. I've found
that it's Menus.xml in the User folder that tends to be the issue.
For DW8, the file should be located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application
Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\Menus\menus.xml
Mac:
HD:Users:username:Library: Application
Support:Macromedia:Dreamweaver MX
2004:Configuration:Menus:Menus.xml
So, how to to fix this issue. Sometimes you can uninstall all
of your extensions and reinstall them one at a time.
If that doesn't work, then you may be able to get away with
deleting the Menus.xml file (make sure it is only the one within
the username folder and not within the program install folder).
Note: this action will cause any extension that added menu items to
have those menu items removed. disabling and reenablign the
extensions shoudl bring them back.
Failing that, removing the user configuration folder (or even
renaming it) may help. Note: This will cause all extensions to be
removed from within Dreamweaver, so you'll have to reinstall.
If none of that works, then you may have to resort to
uninstalling DW, removing the user configuration folders, and then
reinstalling DW.

"Cannot find the Macromedia Flash"

I now cannot even find my post but have found that someone else had

least point me in the direction of finding the culprit and
eliminating this message and stop the constant posts!when do you get this message?

Soundtrack Pro / Flash problems
Since installing Soundtrack Pro, I have had problems with Macromedia Flash.
I installed Soundtrack Pro yesterday and imported MP3 voice-over files for correction & improvement and saved them as .aiff files for import into a Flash .FLA file on my MacBook Pro.
On importing the files, Flash began to behave strangely - notably, impossible to play the .FLA file to check it (file works OK when published to an .SWF file). Also, Flash refuses to import .WAV files created in Soundtrack Pro.
However, Flash works OK on a G4, where I have not installed Sountrack.
I have tried repairing permissions / deleting the Flash preferences file / reinstalling Flash... but these have no effect.
I would be grateful for any help/suggestions.
Best regards,
GarryThanks for the reply. I discovered what the stuttering problem in Soundterack was myself, by running around the Internet doing searches. It turns out that these G5 quad-core Macs have a defect in their optical ports on the back of the case. Light leaks in there and causes problems in Soundtrack. It can be cured by plugging both ends of a toslink cable into the ports, to prevent light from getting in there. One of these little cables only costs a few dollars on Amazon.com. I bought one and plugged it in, and the problem disappeared. Soundtrack now works smoothly.
It's too bad that programs such as Final Cut 7 and Soundtrack were simply abandoned by Apple, and declared obsolete and irrelevant, because they can still do excellent work. I have another, Intel Mac with the latest (as of last summer) Adobe suite on it, including Adobe Premiere, and yet I can do many things better in Final Cut than I can in Premiere (for one thing, Premiere can only open one project at at time. On my current video project in Final Cut 6, I have three projects open at the same time and am moving clips between them easily). However, now that Adobe has moved to rental versions of their software, my copy of Premiere is also obsolete, and gets no updates or improvements, just like Final Cut 7.
So I'm making my videos on my obsolete Mac G5 using obsolete software, Final Cut 6 and Soundtrack. I guess I'll remain a defiant holdout for as long as I can. -

See if you can use Image Capture (located in the Application folder) to upload the video file to the desktop before importing into iPhoto.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
Macromedia Flash ActiveX Control
I am trying to run Samsung PC studio and I keep getting this error message, "Your version of Macromedia Flash ActiveX Control isn't compatible with this version of Windows."
I had to re-install CS4 because of an update error message (which I am still getting) and I think that caused this problem because this program ran fine before. I do have the latest version of Flash installed (11.8.800.168) but that is the plug-in. Is the Active X control something different?
If so where can I download that?
I am running W7HP, 64 bit
Hopefully someone can help. Thanks in advance.m_&_m wrote:
Thanks for the response but I actually started having this problem all of a sudden about a month or two ago before I encountered the recent flash problem. I think something is keeping CS4 from updating properly and that is what caused the flash issue. I had not un-installed it prior to last week.
Is adobe still offering support for CS4 when it is update related?
Any other suggestions?
According to the support page, no more support for CS4 is available.
http://www.adobe.com/support/programs/policies/supported.html
Adobe only supports two version back of the current, which in this case is CC. That would mean CS6 and CS5.5 are the two previous, and that's where it stops.
