Macromedia Studio 8

Hello,
I bought Macromedia Studio 8 a few years back and have been very satisfied. I recently updated the OS on my Mac and now I am unable to install Studio 8 to my machine. What can I do?

As far as I recall Studio 8 was Mac ppc only, and required Rosetta to run on newer Intel based Macs. The newest two versions of MacOsX, including Mavericks, do not support Rosetta any longer, so your software will not run.
Alternative option:
open up a partition or buy a terabyte hard disk external and install a system from your original System Install Disks . Then get your old Macromedia stuff and whatever emergency solutions you need up and running on that.
Or you can try these steps, but they will not help you if Studio 8 is PPC only.
And, of course, you can purchase the newest versions which will work.

Using a MacBook Pro and Adobe CS2 and Macromedia Studio

I was planning on buying a MacBook Pro. Right now my Dell desktop has a 2.4ghz Celeron and I really want to get my first Mac. I'm sick of Windows!! I was wondering how Studio and CS2 (especially Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash Pro) will run under Rosseta on the 1.83ghz compared to my Celeron? And how much RAM will I need?

Cannot speak about CS2 for macs as I have only used it on Windows. When I bought my new mac I could only afford to buy one suite, so now I only use the Macromedia Studio package as this contains more of what I need. In particular it contains Fireworks (as a replacement for CS2) which is sufficient for the level of photo editing I need, plus I find it easier to create web graphics. Also I like the way it interacts with Dreamweaver and Flash sweetly. Maybe worth considering instead of CS2 if your budget is a little tight like mine was!
Now, Performance. The loading times are between 4 and 8 seconds, depending on the number of other processes I have running, which for Adobe products is fairly comparible to Windows I seem to remember. When loaded I bearly notice any lag times at all - occasionly when you try and do too many things too quickly you get the classic beachball for a few seconds, but as long as you are a little more calm when using them they are perfect - as good as on Windows I'd say.
Considering I have a 1.83 GHZ with only 1 GB RAM the performance left me very impressed. Can't wait for the Universal versions as they are going to be "screamers"!
PS - people have posted differences in performance when using Rosetta apps when using the same spec machines. So what someone may say using the same machine as you may not actually be what you experience...

Macromedia Studio MX 2004

In 2004, I bought Macromedia Studio MX 2004 with Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004 included. Since then I have finished many projects working with Screens and Data. After I have my computer operating system upgraded with Window 7 Ultima, 64-bit version recently, I re-installed Machromedia Studio MX 2004. When I tried to retrieve my previous projects containing Screens, popup windows said " unable to open document with this version of Flash because it contains Screen". Now I knew that my Flash MX Professional 2004 was no longer working with a new serial [serial number deleted by moderator], which was perhaps only good for non-professional model. It's not a fair deal as I've paid more than 800 dollars for this package with Flash MX Professional 2004 included in 2004. Please advise. Thanks

It's legacy software that is neither compatible with Win 7 nor current versions of Flash (Player). Current versions of Flash Pro may not even be able to open your old projects without losing data. Anyway, ask in the Flash forums...

Web Logic Server Environment & Macromedia Studio MX

I wanted to ask you if anyone could help me find some information about
working with our WebLogic 6.1 web servers and Macromedia Studio MX products
such as Dreamweaver MX, Flash MX, and ColdFusion MX.
For right now I'd like to get up and going with Dreamweaver MX and
WebLogic. A co-worker of mine who got our group up and running with
WebLogic seems to have his own "jerry-rigged" way of developing JSPs and
what not in our environment. In his method is he is coding
using MS UltraDev as a coding tool, then using the
WebLogic console to apply the .WAR file and then going to the servers URL
for testing the changes.
All nice and great for a coder, but what about someone who wants to just worry
about the "design" of the jsp pages?
If you've ever worked with Dreamweaver, it has a way of setting up the web environment
so it's
easy to code or design, upload, then test.
I can't seem to get this part to work in the WebLogic environment. Maybe
it's because I don't have the right information in the right places when I
setup my "site" environment in DWMX?
Has anyone done this that could help step me through the
process? Know anyone using WebLogic and Macromedia Products?
Something, anything would help me out!

Serial number macromedia studio mx

Hallo, ich versuche meine Adobe CS5 auf dem neuen Computer unter Yosemite zu installieren. Ich habe dafür die Seriennummer angegeben und die stimmt. Da es sich nur um ein Upgrade handelt, muss ich auch die Seriennummer von der "Vorversion" angeben. Das war die Macromedia Studio MX 2004. Diese Seriennummer habe ich auch angegeben, aber sie wird nicht angenommen. Was soll ich tun?

I'm planning to update from Windows 7 (where everythings works perfectly fine) to Windows 8.

I'm using Windows8 x64.
The Fireworks.exe of MX 2004 needs Compatibility setting.
right click Fireworks.exe in File explorer
-> click Property
-> open "Compatibility" tab
-> check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
-> select mode as "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)"
-> (in case of some behavior, check "Run this program as an administrator" )
I confirmed that the FwMX2k4 boots in this way.
(but not confirmed on all extentions.)

Adobe & Macromedia Studio 8 not installing!?!?

Yes it did and I did get that Linksys today, I will go to get the airport tomorrow but I am having another dilemma now!!!
It says in the documentation that there is a program called Rosetta and that with that I will be able to use my other software likt the adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Studio 8 etc...I tryed to install Adobe Elements today and Acrobat Pro and Studio 8 and it didn't install at all!!???? Any idea why? or what I need to do to get them installed?

How do I activate Macromedia Studio 8

How do I activate Macromedia Studio 8. The legacy activation (Error: Unable to Activate | Macromedia products) seems to apply only to Macromedia Studio MX and MX 2004, but not to Studio 8.

There will be no options to download this software anymore via Adobe. Adobe used to have the policy only a backup DVD of the last version was available for 25 / 35 dollar / euro. Normally based on a previous version you can update with a discount to the last one and have a download. For this 'old version' there are no upgrade paths or discounts offered.

Trouble installing CS3 upgrade using Macromedia Studio MX serial number

I'm trying to install my CS3 software onto a new Macbook and it will not accept my Macromedia Studio MX serial number that was used to upgrade to CS3.

Thank you so much for the link. I tried the chat earlier and they couldn't help. After being online with them for an hour, they said the product was too old for them to assist with and that the tech support team could help, but they couldn't transfer me to them nor did they provide a number to call. The only option they gave me was to go to the forum. I've been searching everywhere for a support number so I really appreciate the link you provided. I guess I will try again on Monday since they are not available until then.

Macromedia Studio MX 2004 - Flash dies on opening? All of a sudden!!!!!!!!

Hopefully someone out there has had a similar problem to my current dilemma. After conducting my monthly clean up of o/s and installing a Raptor drive for main boot fresh G5 Tiger install - all updates + security - migrating all software - repairing permissions - running diskwarrior - running cocktail et al - the only programme not to work - is Flash mx Professional from the Studio MX 2004!!!!!!
Prior to this ingenious upgrade on my part - I had a shaky o/s hence the system maintenance. Flash did work prior to this - very well.
I have now done a full delete of Studio MX 2004 - re-installed from discs and updated from Macromedia - still Flash won't fully launch. It gets to the stage then quits.

neutron,an obvious but not very helpful reply - however thank you - I am fully aware of who makes Studio and all of the other Adobe products - given I own the majority of them.
For those who may experience this problem - when they do do a fresh Tiger install and migrate software - the fix - is obscure to say the least - and may not be just specific to say Adobe/Macromedia software.
I eventually found the answer here after 3 fresh intalls of Studio MX and much frustration.
For all us designers/editors and others - who own a Wacom tablet - there must be a bug somewhere that conflicts with Studio MX. Remove the tablet s/w - reload Studio and voila - Flash launches and has so far remained steady.
Just in case anyone is wondering why this was posted here originally - was because of the last security update and my problem started soon after - spookily coincidental!

Activation issue Macromedia Studio MX 2004

Can anyone tell me how to activate Studio MX 2004? I've had this software for years and now I have a new computer and I need to continue to use it. I realise that it is old software but it meets my needs and I have no interest in more bells and whistles and learning newer versions. Support (chat and phone) were no help at all - I am guessing it is because the software predates Adobe's aquiring of Macromedia. Surely there is a way to continue to use the software I purchased????? (Which by the way DOES work on Windows 7.)

Cannot launch any Macromedia Studio 8 apps on new MacBook Pro

I've just migrated everything over to my new MacBook Pro from my old Powerbook. So far so good ... until I went to use Dreamweaver. I might see it bounce in the dock for less than a second and then it disappears - no error messages or anything. Ditto for other Studio 8 apps. I've tried installing an updater, I've tried reinstalling everything from scratch - the same thing happens for both.
I've switched the activation over to this new machine for the Adobe CS (which all works fine other than Version Cue) so wonder if this is the issue, but I can't see where this can be done for Studio 8 apps and according to the licence I can have them installed on two machines anyway, provided I don't use them at the same time.
According to the document Adobe have about support for Intel-based Macs these apps should work - even if with some issues with slowness. But not for me!

Thanks for that. So I just tried to repair disk permissions - there was nothing to repair and I'm still having the same problem. Also verified the disk to see if anything came up - all looks to be fine.
According to Adobe the Macromedia apps should work with Intel Macs, just that they might be quite slow. Plus I've done some digging around and found reference to others running them okay.
I've also just tried running a game to see what that would do. It's also old - Sim City 4 - but I've also read others saying it's slow, but definitely works on Intel Macs. However, for me it shows the same behaviour as the Macromedia apps - won't even start to load.
I've contacted Macromedia for support now. Will post here if I get anywhere, but if anyone has other suggestions, they'd be gratefully received!
