Macs show "VNC On" - just started happening
I've got an Airport, I've mapped the right ports to the right IP... everything worked great last week and for the past few months.
Then I noticed a few weeks ago one of the Macs in the list wasn't being recognized as a Mac. It just says "VNC On." I didn't think much of it... other than maybe I needed to reboot it. That did nothing... but whats curious is that Mac was on my local network.
Then... last night... all of the computers in the list weren't being recognized as Macs... just saying "VNC On." -- I can't see what system version is running, if anyone is logged in, I can't chat with the users... if it doesn't recognize the machine as a Mac, ARD2 is no better than a free VNC client.
I exported my lists, then I deleted the prefs file, then I started all over. As soon as I imported the lists, ARD sees them as... well, as not Macs.

but that may be due to improper port mapping. My ports are right... everything worked great for months, and now its weird.
Think its the last batch of updates that did this? Suggestions?

i too have these kind of problems since i started using ARD 2.2 on my MacBook (Intel).
I can access my Xserve over the Internet with ARD - although ARD is telling that the machine is "Not connected".
And my Mac Mini running as Webserver is recognized as "VNC on" - sometimes after relaunching ARD is is recognizing the Mini and some time later it has the same problem again.
Copying files to these computers is something like gambling game: sometimes on the first attempt, sometimes after logging in on the remote system, sometimes it does not work at all...
Very annoying - and i do not want to spent a lot of money (ARD 3) just to get features back that worked before perfectly!
Maybe we should make a bug report to Apple?

Ask in the ID forum and be much more specific about your configuration. there could be any number of reasons why manifests, temp files or restore files are created.

Printer is overprinting old jobs on top of new jobs. Using a Mac with OSx and a HP photosmart for over a year. this just started happening.
RReset printing system again and the restart in Safe Mode . This will clear some caches,to do this hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup tone until a progress bar appears, after it has fully booted restart normally and add the printer.

My mac has started sending yahoo emails out as if they were being sent from an old gmail account I haven't used in years. Why has this just started happening?
It is important to understand that Mail uses TWO servers, a Receiving Server and a Sending Server.
When you create a new mail message, or reply to a message, the Sender server is shown in the message composition window like this:
That drop-down window allows you to select which of the Sending Servers you previously set up should be used.
In general, once you choose a Sending server, its choice will "stick" for all future replies to messages from that Receiving mailbox. -
This just started happening.. I open Itunes and the little round rainbow loading indicator just goes on and doesnt stop.. My itunes wont function.. It gets stuck. Then i have to force quit.. I tried to shut down and restart. also reloaded the latest itune 11.1.3 and it still gets stuck.
i use an external HD and thats fine.. all files are in there. But I have no idea why my itunes app is getting stuck.

When I compose an email it flies up the screen when I press the shift key and then comes back again. I've clicked default settings on Keyboard in Preferences but it has made no difference. It has only just started happening. Any ideas?
This problem has also been plaguing me today. Here are my specifics and how I solved it (Expanding on what Quentin Holmes mentioned)
CONFIRMED WORK AROUND! The .m4v file gets created while encoding, but Adobe Media Encoder does not re-pack it back into the .mp4 unless you select the "Export Audio" in Adobe Premier export prior to queuing. If you don't want audio, mute the individual tracks and still export audio.
My details:
Just bought a GH4, shooting 4k 25fps MOV, trying to simply trim a few clips and export them as H.264 .mp4 with no audio. (By the way it would be nice if we could export 4k .MOV files from the camera back into .MOV once finished editing, but in premier that frame resolution is not supported)
Specs: Mac Mini, Quad Core i7, 16GB Ram, OSX 10.9.4, Adobe Premier Pro CS6 6.0.5, Adobe Media Encoder 6.0.2.81

I can receive emails, but I cannot send emails. This just started happening. I have an iPhone and I can send emails from my phone fine. It's just not working on my Macbook. Every time I try to send an email it goes straight to my outbox. Can anyone help?
Thank you for heading me in the right direction. I reset my Mail account for Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net:(customer ID)@att.net (instead of smtp.att.yahoo.com, per Apple's online troubleshooting information). I'm not sure what "(Offline)" means when it appears at the end of my Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)?? In the Advanced box I clicked on "Use custom port: 465" and checked "Use Secure Sockets Layer." Authentication: Password; I have correct User Name and Password put in. After doing all this, when I try to send emails again today, they go directly to the Outbox and sit there.
What's curious is that my first sent email this morning did go out using the Outgoing Mail Server, smtp.att.yahoo.com: (customer ID)@att.net(Offline) but subsequent emails I tried to send with this server were rejected with the message: "Cannot send message using the server smtp.att.yahoo.com (etc.). The SMTP server doesn't support TLS(SSL) on port 587. Verify your account settings and try again." That's when I tried resetting my Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net (etc.), as mentioned above, and was unsuccessful in sending out any further emails. I guess my next step is to contact my email service provider, AT&T, and see if they can help me. Thanks, again, for taking the time to respond and for giving me your input! Much appreciated! -
Every single website url address, or url address within a website page is being added to my location bar/address bar drop down menu.
I don't want everything added or saved in the location bar. Only urls that I used a lot used to be saved there but now every single url (and url within a url)I visit is being added to it.
How can I stop this? This just started happening.
I'm sure it's a simple browser setting but I've checked and nothing gives an option to control this.

When I try to open a file in photoshop CS, Elements or Lightroom I get the message "Could not complete request because it is not the right kind of document" This just started happening today. The only thing I have done differently is change my file handling to raw + jpeg on my Nikon 7100.
I downloaded camera raw 8.7 and I am now able to open my raw and jpeg files. Thanks

My hard drive desktop suddenly will no longer hold or maintain the icons in place when I shut down and restart. The icons all change positions, alphabetically. Just started happening. I prefer the icons to a list format. Concerned this might be a symptom of a larger problem. Any thoughts?
revmandanIt's normal for the icons at the top level of the startup disk to revert to the same arrangement every time the Finder is relaunched. If it's important to you to arrange those icons in a persistent way, proceed as follows.
Back up all data.
Open the Info window on the startup disk (labeled "Macintosh HD" unless you gave it another name.) Click the lock icon in the lower right corner of the dialog and authenticate.
In the Sharing & Permissions section, click the plus-sign button to add an entry to the access list. Give yourself "Read and Write" access. This will be a temporary change. Leave the dialog open.
Open the Finder window and arrange the icons as you wish, then close the window.
In the Info dialog, use the minus-sign button to delete the entry you just added to the access list. Don't change anything else. When you're done, it should be the same as when you started. Close the Info dialog. -
While browsing in Releaselog, I can't open a new Tab from a link(Ctrl left button). It opens in the same Tab and has just started happening this week. All other websites are ok.

When I type my email address in the "To:" field, a random name comes up next to it as "Holidays in United States". This just started happening out of the blue and I have no idea why. Does anyone else have any idea?
Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. In Adobe Send, I have sent files several times now and when the recipient clicks the link to open, it says page cannot be found. This just started happening. What needs to be corrected?
I can think of a couple of reasons for this behavior.
You inadvertently turned off the sharing for the files.
The link that the user is clicking on is incomplete; perhaps it got broken across lines in an email message. Are you sending Anonymous Links or Personalized Invitations? If the former, are you certain that you copied the entire link?
Some things to try.
Have the user send the link back to you so that you can test it. Does it work for you?
If you look at your Sent Files list, is the name in the Sent To column struck through (e.g., John Smith)? That would indicate that it has been unshared.
If you could get back to me with answers, perhaps we can get to the bottom of this. -
